The interior has your normal Asian decor with two Chinese soldier statues greeting you and the entrance. The interior of the Buffett is pretty spacious and open and it has two smaller dinning areas for more privacy. Staff: 3 stars Our server greeted us and sat us quickly and asked for our drinks. She had a "hurried" state of mind but had a friendly smile. Good: 2.5 - 3 Stars With Three separate buffet stations for hot and cold items, it had "ok" selection. Nothing extraordinary. Basic limited sushi selection. They sure loved Philly cheese because I counted four different sushi version with it. Hey, it is easy to make, a great filler to the stomach, and is inexpensive. Great for the business but terrible if you want other sushi varieties. The other stations will have your other basic Asian dishes but nothing to say, "Yummy or Wow"! Again the Buffett is great if you want to fill your tummy and spend time with friends or family members. Price: 2.5 Stars We went on a Sunday, the price was a lot more than expected. Over $30-40 per person. Does that seem reasonable? Not in my book, but it has been a while since I've gone to a buffet. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. We have done birthdays, anniversary, celebrations of life, and Mother's Day just to name a few. We have always found the service spot on. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. They have always treated us well. Tracy has always treated us as part of the family. The food has always been fresh and plenty of it. There has always been a good variety of food. There is always something for everyone. There are their soups, the sushi, which has a good variety of choices. They have a decent salad bar, and a good selection of desserts. They even have a soft ice cream machine. The entrees they offer can satisfy anyone. They have fish, beef, chicken and more in meats. They have rice and noodles. They have tampora as well. If you are not interested in the buffet, you can order from the menu. The also offer spirits. If you seek to host a party. They can handle most request. They have a smaller dinning area as well as a larger one. As I said, I have coming here since they opened 20 years again and never tire of the food or the people. There were a lot of choices but the food was just mediocre. There were soups, sushi, chicken, pork, fruit, etc. The avocado roll was decent. The avocado was perfectly ripe and creamy. The Mongolian beef was alright. The meat wasn't tough. The tempura shrimp could have used a touch of salt. I had too many other items to list. The waitress was very friendly. Servers are friendly as always but going in at 7:30pm on a Saturday night was a mistake. At 8pm no more food was prepared and the restaurant had several large families so all of the dishes on the buffet were hammered. For $28 per person, it is very unfortunate that food prep doesn't continue until 8:30 or any dining after 8pm should be significantly discounted. read more

The parking lot is very spacious. When you enter, there are Chinese-style architectural decorations. The dining area is roomy, and the flow for picking up food is very clear and smooth. China Lights seems to be the last of a dying breed here in Anchorage. One of very few buffet AYCE restaurants. We've been coming here for years and have held many family events here. Like all buffets, this one is better when you come closer to opening. That's when we visit and have no complaints. Love their tempura shrimp when they have it. Their perfectly spicy kung pao chicken is always bussin. The noodles I had this visit were new and better than the ones I remember. This is actually a pretty difficult review to write. I haven't been to a buffet in a really long time. I'm not even sure I've ever written a review for one in my four years as a Yelper. Sure I've been places that have a salad bar or a couple dishes on a buffet, but nothing like this place The servers were attentive and friendly. The selection was vast. Lots of choices. Food: I started with sushi. I eat sushi quite a bit. This did not taste like the sushi I'm used to. Bland. I don't want to cast any shade or make an inaccurate assumption, but it just didn't taste like the sushi I'm used to. I sampled about 8-10 different things during my visit. I really enjoyed the egg drop soup and the fried rice. The sesame chicken was tasty as well. The rest of the items were okay. I remembered at the second plate why I've avoided buffets. The only way to feel like you're getting your money's worth is to eat a ton. And I keep my portions pretty small these days. Notables - if you go for miso soup you might wonder where the dumplings are. The whole container is just broth. The dumplings are in a silver container next to the soup. Last night we went to a 50th birthday party here. It was a really good time. The birthday boy was surrounded by family and friends. As well as good food. I can't eat much so a buffet is not worth it to me anymore but we stayed for a few hours and enjoyed each other's company. I tried the sesame chicken and it was good for a buffet. I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't soggy. I ate a few baby shrimps and a 1/2 of an egg roll. Now the best part for me was the egg roll lol. I mean of course it would be, it's deep fried goodness. My sister enjoyed the ice cream, where some said they didn't like it because it was way to sweet. But to each there own. I did enjoy the spareribs pieces. I love me a good sparerib. I'm use to them being a little sweeter, but these were just right for my taste buds. If I could eat more I would have trust me. We ended with cake that was bought in and made locally. And they were delicious, i have to get her number so they can make mine next month. That good! Dinner service starts at 4/4:30 i guess and the crawfish and fried shrimp came out. Ohhh the clams let's just say the seafood lovers that were left enjoyed a couple of plates. All in all it's a 5, but I have to do a 4 since i couldn't taste everything to give more points. read more

Had my baby shower here in 2017 and I must say it was amazing. My son is now 6 years old turning 7 in May and it's even better.The many selections/ options as well as presentation is incredible. It's all you can eat Chinese food, so expectations were low. Food was below average, but the staff were friendly. Normally, I'd give this place 3 stars, but they allowed a dog into the restaurant. A dog...in a restaurant. The owners bought that crap off Amazon that works when people don't know the laws surrounding the ADA. Basically, terrible people bring dogs to restaurants and it's disgusting. This place should follow the health code, not some awful person who is trying to dupe them with amazon bought "working dog" gear on their dog. read more

We visited here for the first time last week as my friend wanted Chinese food. They have a very large buffet that's $24-25pp, but we didn't take part. They still however were following social distancing practices, mask requirements and traffic flow due to COVID-19 so that was cool. They'll even provide you a mask if need be. Our waitress was a little scattered at first, but several of the ladies there helped serve our table and check on us. We decided just to do the combo meals which were $18.50/pp and you get soup, two entree choices, fried rice and an egg roll. Had we known they'd be massive portion sizes we probably could've shared one and saved $20 :) So that's a good tip if you want to still dine out and you're on a budget. BIG PORTIONS. I had sweet and sour pork and almond chicken. Everything was good and your typical Americanized Chinese Food. Lots of fresh veggies that were crisp tender and not overcooked! Another gross "Chinese" buffet in Anchorage. I can safely say this is my first and last time here. I only came here for a baby shower for one of my best friends. Thankfully, since I read reviews beforehand, I came in with low expectations. First of all, the price for the buffet is obscene. I paid $20.99, which is stupidly expensive even for Alaska. That's not even including the price of a beverage and the gratuity added because it was a large party. I wouldn't even pay half that given the quality of the food, but I did pay begrudgingly to go to the room for the baby shower. The food was awful. No flavor, all sodium, either too dry or too greasy. I had more flavorful food at the Taco Bell down the road. The so-called sesame chicken had no sesame and just tasted like it was soaked in MSG. Fried rice was bland and had what appeared to be cheap frozen vegetables in it. Sushi tasted like it was bought from Carrs after sitting there all day. Service was non existent. In the 90 minutes I was there, we had someone check on us once, maybe twice. If anything it seemed like we were inconveniencing them with our business. I never saw anyone come to take plates, so they were piling up on the table. Speaking of plates, try to refrain from leaving any scraps on your plate unless you want to get scolded. They have signs at literally every buffet asking you not to waste food even though it's an all-you-can-eat buffet. Maybe if the food was actually palatable those signs wouldn't be necessary. The only thing this place has going for it is the interior. It looks nice and it's spacious, but that definitely doesn't make it worth the visit. I won't be back, I hope. read more

I ordered here for the first time, and it wasn't long before I ordered again. Both times the delivery was very fast, it isn't worth worrying about the time. I left instructions for them to leave it at the door and ring the bell because of the physical distancing that's going on right now, and unlike some other delivery places they followed my delivery instruction. The food is great. It's perfect for what I expect from takeout cuisine of this type. The portions are generous and the prices are great. While China Lights is a new experience for me, it has been a great experience and on the rare occasion that I order takeout, it will be China Lights. read more
