Used to love this place. They changed their containers and now "regular" is a half of what it used to be. And yet somehow the thing had almost an inch of water in it. the dumplings were also really slimy on the inside and gross. I do not recommend this place anymore. Hello, I am a regular customer. I come here a lot. To the point that one of the more experienced members knows my order by heart. I got food here for my dad who orders the dynamite bop, but the rice was overcooked or burnt at the bottom? This is very unusual. He refused to eat it after one bite and he loves the dynamite bop. Also I am not sure why but the business has switched to black containers that are smaller than the usual trademark red bowls? Is this a decision based on cheaper costs or are they just trying to skimp out on the amount of food they give people? I dont know, but I will come back when the red bowls return. read more

They give more rice than anything and it's $16 for a thin layer of meat unless you plan to add other things on to your order I'd say it's not worth it for the price. I could have eaten somewhere else and gotten more it tasted good but my hunger was not appeased with the little protein given. I have picked up from this location twice now. First time I ordered online second I called in and waited in the parking lot. I only order the 4 piece shrimp tempura with rice. $8.99 for the shrimp and $2 extra for the rice. The sauce automatically is level two which isn't spicy. Level 3 is the start of the spice. Guy said 10-15 minutes. It would be nice if they called when it was done but I think they are too busy for that. They ask for your number when ordering though. Yummmmm ... I'm salivating just thinking about Top Bop. There are 3 locations in Anchorage and I'm thinking how I can adjust my route for my errands today to coincide with a Top Bop stop! Truth. But the South location is excellent. A little tough to navigate the parking lot/one way street insanity but if you make it through this test, you're guaranteed a delicious lunch/dinner/carb load session. I recommend a chicken bowl, add an egg, and level 4 hot sauce because I like my food a smidge on the spicy side!! Definitely one of my new favorites for a quick bite, the staff was friendly, great customer service, modern decor, lots of seating, and a clean restroom. I usually get the #5 poke bowl which is rice lettuce crab salmon ahi Tuna a crunchy topping and sauce (I usually order it with salmon only but it's great either way), I've tried a few others but that's definitely my favorite. I do recommend if you're taking it home and not eating right away (with the raw fish) have your rice put in a separate container because the heat will spoil your raw seafood. Cool idea. Again, v causal. I could eat one of their bowls daily. The large size is more of a shareable size. I only know a few people who could eat a large on their own. Their service is quick and it's clean inside. At all of their locations they have a ton of seating; I've gone in at noon and never seen it packed. Verrrrry interesting.... I'm waffling on this one. The space...eclectic. Pretty clean, odd interior design. My guess is that the painting and decorating was done by the owner. As cobbled as it appears, it offered a quaint, comfortable, un-pretentious environment to enjoy dinner in. Mrs. B got the Noodle Bowl and a side of fried shrimp. Sweet potato noodles, rice, veggies, meat, sauce. I went for the seafood bowl with the sweet potato noodles instead of rice (Add $2). The noodles look like rice noodles but have No Carbs, Fat-Free, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, And No Preservatives. The taste was nice, plenty of seafood with what appears to be real crab (not krab). The sauce was a bit sweet like teriyaki sauce. Not my favorite. It was good enough that I was able to enjoy my dinner. The gal who took my order said that they can tweak the sauce for me next time to increase the spicy and tone down the sweet. (I feel the love). My food was plenty hot but Mrs. B's was not. I would guess that they made hers first and then let it sit while they made mine. Go back in the near future and give it another try. So I walked into this place with high expectations, as I had a few friends tell me it was good. Well, they have musubi's now, with egg. It was ok. Not a great seaweed used, the egg and spam was greasy, making the rice greasy. The kimchee, which I have yet to have good kimchee in AK, was overly salted, probably not rinsed afterwards and wasn't fermented long enough and the chili paste was pasty on the cabbage leaving a chalky feeling on your tongue. The beef bowl was ok, again chili paste left a weird feeling and wasn't incorporated into the sauce very well. The meat was plentiful, but in my opinion a rice bowl should have a bit of extra sauce to make the rice extra yummy. The sauce on the beef is quite dry, and overly salted. Good lunch spot with healthy options!! I love Korean food and this place could be my favorite place in town easily. The flavor is there and you can customize it to make it even better. I've had top bop several times but not at this location. Food and flavor is still very good here, but portion was frustratingly very small and I didn't see until I got home. If I'm paying an extra $3 ($13 total) for a large size, they could at least fill the food up to the top. I called in and they offered to email a $5 voucher, but I am disappointed this happened. The lady who spoke to me said sorry, but she seemed like she wanted a quick fix and just offered the voucher. Hopefully their bowls are not always filled 2/3 the way. read more

I've been wondering if there was any good bulgogi around here and I've heard of top bop, but never tried it until recently. I was very satisfied and pleasantly surprised. I got the japchae thinking it was either rice or noodle option, but I got both. However, today went to South location and we got a 6 piece shrimp tempura on a burnt styrofoam container. This is pretty alarming on how they handle hot food like these. No exception! We both tried each other's and it was all so good! The bowl was very flavorful and full of veggies and didn't feel too heavy. The Regular size bowl was about $9 and was a good amount for one person. No stars for the service. We were the only ones in the shop and sat down after ordering. The teen who made up the bowl called our order number. It would have been very nice for her to bring our bowl to us. One star for the faculty - it was basically and in good repair.
