I recognize the amount of time and effort it took to get my necessary medication approved, so thank you. They were extremely attentive and flexible with my schedule as well, as I am a very busy student myself. Every time I visited, Dr. Omino took the time to really explain all my options and answered all my questions. He took my symptoms seriously and never once dismissed me. I'm thinking I'll just make an appt then. They proceed to tell me I can come in but they are no longer accepting insurance it is now a cash pay clinic only and the visit will be $130 out of pocket. The suite we were going to is located on the third floor as well as the lab. When we entered, we received a friendly greeting by the front desk clerk and she checked us in. We were quickly brought into exam and after vitals and a few questions the provider joined us. The exam room was spacious, bright and clean. There were two chairs for my Mom and I to sit. The experience was very pleasant for my Mom. She liked all the staff very much. From my POV all staff was kind and very professional. The place is large, hi-tech, organized, efficient, polite and the doctors are top notch. If I still lived anywhere near Simi, I would go there at any cost. When my grandmother was sick with cancer about 10 years ago, they made house calls when her condition deteriorated and made sure she was comfortable until the end. Having had a knee replacement, I was supposed to get up and walk. I asked Ron 3 times from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Each time he told me he was too busy. This is unacceptable for the nurse in charge of my care to refuse care. I ended up walking on my own without an attendant. For hospital "protocol" I give 1 star. I was in pain but I'm also honest. The pain to me was intolerable but I've had pain off the charts and this wasn't it. So I honestly said it was a 6-7. Apparently if I didn't say 8, they were instructed to give me less pain meds. This doesn't work on an individual basis. I metabolize meds quickly. That means I need more and it won't last as long as the average person. So in reward for my honesty, I was on pain for the entire night shift. There is also no dr in house for the staff to get a change if meds. There is one off site dr and that dr does not respond to patient calls. Eventually that do did respond to the head nurse. Needless to say I won't ever be staying here again. As a side note, their ER is top notch. That's probably because they're independent of the in patient services and have medical staff more readily available.
