For staff care, I give the staff 5 stars. They made me feel comfortable and cared for. Everyone except one RN named Ron was exceptional. I had Ron for the night shift on 5/11 - 5/12. Having had a knee replacement, I was supposed to get up and walk. I asked Ron 3 times from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Each time he told me he was too busy. This is unacceptable for the nurse in charge of my care to refuse care. I ended up walking on my own without an attendant. For hospital "protocol" I give 1 star. I was in pain but I'm also honest. The pain to me was intolerable but I've had pain off the charts and this wasn't it. So I honestly said it was a 6-7. Apparently if I didn't say 8, they were instructed to give me less pain meds. This doesn't work on an individual basis. I metabolize meds quickly. That means I need more and it won't last as long as the average person. So in reward for my honesty, I was on pain for the entire night shift. There is also no dr in house for the staff to get a change if meds. There is one off site dr and that dr does not respond to patient calls. Eventually that do did respond to the head nurse. Needless to say I won't ever be staying here again. As a side note, their ER is top notch. That's probably because they're independent of the in patient services and have medical staff more readily available. read more

I'm going to be very careful how I post this review to protect your staff. Several days ago my family member was brought here by ambulance and the care was Absolutely Wonderful but the staff review is a 1 star for what I personally witnessed and for what I was informed after my mother got transferred to a room upstairs. There were patients all over the halls for hours,while my mom got a room immediately because she came in an ambulance, this was so horrible to see! When we got settled in a room upstairs, I brought this up to a "staff member " about how heartbreaking this was and this person informed me that this hospital had an entire floor COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN! I have been here four times: Two procedures, one surgery, and tonight, I went into the ER with what turned out to be COVID. Regarding all four visits, I cannot imagine a better staff, including everyone from the security personnel at the door to the doctors. Tonight was the best ER experience anyone could hope for, and without hyperbole, I was in awe of the level care I received so quickly. Five stars because there was nothing I would improve upon. I dont think they know what the word "emergency" means here. The two times I have been there I was stuck in a BUSY intersection of hallways as my 'room' where i was supposed to wait for 20 hours before they let me go. Which is dehumanizing and genuinely terrifying for anyone with social anxiety. All for them to send me somewhere i couldve found with a google search, but this time with a mandatory $4000 taxi. The second time I went in a literally couldnt stand up. No one was willing or able to help me get from the front of the building inside, so God forbid I collapsed. Then they had me wait for 45 minutes while i was white as a sheet, shaking, throwing up, and sweating profusely. The ONLY REASON why they saw me was that I momentarily passed out while trying to get to the toilet to throw up. And if I injure myself there is apparently all they care about. They actually X-rayed my shoulder in case i hurt it, but would not do an mri on my stomach, or even spend any time examining my stomach. My nurse was great, but my doctor saw me for all of 5 minutes or less and sent me off saying it was a flu. GUESS WHAT! DAYS LATER NOT A FLU IT WAS A STOMACH ULCER! Thanks for checking, i'm thinking of suing for medical malpractice Im pretty sure he jumped to that conclusion because I'm homosexual. Very frustrating to experience homophobia while in immense pain. I also was not a fan of his first suggestion for treatment being morphine. 1. It's addictive 2. He gave me 12mg and i barely felt anything 3. Its a great way to pile on medical bills When going to the hospital they told me that i had to wear a facemask for a non-transmissible blood borne illness. my rating in REAL;ITY: 0-STAR My mom, 93-year-old, was in the Emergency Room for hours and past midnight admitted to the hospital. She had the Pre-existing condition of dementia. On the next day, a chaplain asked if we wanted to pray for the stay. Yes, we needed it. Every 6 or 8 hours, they poked my mom's arm to collect blood, yet some could not find the vein. In 10 days, she had bruises on 2 arms. On the 7th day, she fell in the hospital and broke her hip bone. Surgery was the best treatment. On the 10th day, she was discharged from the hospital, so I asked if we could skip the poking. (We would not see the blood chemistry anyway.) But the worker missed the vein again. Nurse named Liz blocked my mom having breakfast by saying that medical transportation crew would come any time. After 10:30 am, the medical transport crew took my mom by ambulance to a convalescent center. It was non-Emergency transport and billed $4,638. Where was that chaplain on the discharge? Are the Nurses, CNAs competent or ethical. My mom was billed $142,310 for 10 days. Yet Medicare did not approve a penny. Still the hospital claimed my mom owe $4,604 (account #0106633243) copay. I asked California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to help. After all the interview/review, they found the bed sensor was not turned on and the staff were accountable for the accident. Did the staff act in good faith? There was no God. Adventist health Simi Valley has overall star rating of 2-star from Medicare website. If we factor in margin of error (± 2), the rating would be 2 ± 2. I would write a review without a star. You will find some Adventist health (Simi Valley) lawsuits by Google search. The long list of malpractice, false claims... "Recognized for excellence in patient safety care" is Adventist lie. BEWARE! I do not recommend doing business with Adventist Health. Here are the reasons why: 1. Three weeks ago, Nov. 1, 2022, I had a cardiological procedure performed at Adventist Health Simi Valley. However, I cannot obtain an itemized statement with procedure code, diagnosis code, and the amount paid ($1100), so that I can send it to my insurance company for 80% reimbursement. On Nov. 11, I was told by an accounting representative, Mayra, that she would be sending me what's called a UV 04 to submit to my insurance company within 7 to 10 days. After several  days, I called back because I hadn't received anything and spoke with another representative, Gabe, who told me that I would have to wait 7 to 10 days for a UV 04. I explained that I had already been through all of this. But I had to start from the beginning. So the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing there. 2. I cannot obtain a report (medical record) with the results of the test and diagnosis. At the time of the visit, the cardiologist, Dr. Nguyen, told me a couple of things were wrong with my heart and that I should take daily atenolol, which I suppose I would get from my primary care doctor, but I cannot get anything in writing, despite numerous phone calls, waiting on hold, being transferred from representative to representative, filling out online forms, and even emailing the CEO, Scott Reiner, three times. So, as a lay person unfamiliar with cardiological terms, I don't know what's wrong with my heart. And my primary care doctor cannot know either because he has not received a copy of a report. 3.  Staff does not seem happy or willing to help patients achieve goals, such as speaking with someone of authority in Medical Records or Billing.  I definitely got the runaround and am still getting the runaround. 4.  The facility itself is run down and in need of modernization.   I accidentally went to the Adventist Health Imaging Center first down the block, and the temperature was set at about 68°. It was absolutely freezing cold in there. 5. I spoke with Registration staff member, Jacklyn, on the day of my procedure, and requested to speak with somebody in Billing while I was there, so that I could leave with an itemized statement, as I had paid over $1100 for the procedure. She prevented me from speaking with anybody of authority--not a manager, not a supervisor, not a director. Nobody. It's like Fort Knox there. 6. This is supposed to be a Christian organization, and its mission statement reflects that of a caring and concerned purpose. But, my experience was the opposite of this. If I could give this hospital a 0 I would. I already had issues back in 2017 when they overdosed and killed my brother. I thought it's been long enough and I can give them another chance. My 3 year old daughter was throwing up consistently for over 24 hours. I called her pediatrician and they told me to take her to the ER to get her fluids because she at this point would be very dehydrated. They looked at her and said yeah she looks dehydrated let's give her fluids. Came back and gave her an apple juice and said we were discharged. They did not listen to the pediatrician and I could've given her apple juice at home. This business and location are completely dishonorable. I was conned into meeting with a Urologist there, thinking that he would be my Doctor and available moving forward. It turned out he is only at that facility/ location a few hours per month. I am ill and in need of treatment. He ordered an MRI and a Biopsy to be performed in the following weeks. Late in the afternoon of the scheduled MRI, I received a call from the Radiology firm supposed to be performing the MRI the following morning. They called to say that they STILL had yet to receive the authorization for the MRI from my Insurance. Even though the MRI had been ordered 3 WEEKS EARLIER, it was concluded that Adventist Health Staff HAD NOT EVEN REQUESTED THE AUTHORIZATION UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE THE SCHEDULED MRI. (My numerous attempts to reach the Doctor - Sawkar - using the numbers and contact info found next to his name at the bottom of the order requisition forms was a compete waste of time. The individuals answering those numbers HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PERSON. It took me five more days and numerous calls TO REACH MY DOCTOR. I had repeatedly asked his Staff for his contact info, OR THAT THEY CONTACT HIM FOR ME, and they lied and claimed they had no contact info for him. He later said they most certainly did.) But in speaking with the staff at the location, they also lied about what had occurred and proceeded to tell me, against me continued protests to the contrary, that I still needed to come for the Biopsy the following Tuesday: that it didn't matter that we didn't have the MRI, and that they could perform the Biopsy without it. I TOLD THEM, CLEARLY AND REPEATEDLY, THAT I WOULD NOT COME FOR A BIOPSY WOTHOUT THE MRI FIRST. They did not care and insisted I come. After arriving for the scheduled Biopsy the following Tuesday and in conferring with the person who was to perform the Biopsy - THAT WE NEEDED TO HAVE THE MRI FIRST, IN ORDER TO GUIDE THE BIOPSY. I said that I had told their people this repeatedly. (So this was the second day of lost work for me and for my wife, driving an hour to the location again, having gone to purchase the night before, then having taken an enema in the morning, etc., ALL FOR ABSOLUTLY NOTHING!) The office Staff then made comments like, "We now have the authority for your MRI, so what's the problem?" They also called me and hung up repeatedly, or left messages to call several different people - CALLS THAT THEY NEVER ONCE ANSWERED OR RESPONDED TO. So the behavior of this Staff and the over-all facility, while in the beginning was/is ridiculously inefficient and completely unprofessional, in the end became malicious and disturbing. We are being told that the person insisting I come for the false Biopsy, as well as the "Office Manager", who never once returned my half-dozen attempts to reach her, have both been terminated. But as we have been lied to so often from all of them, who really knows the truth. While they have had several people contact us, well after the fact and long after all the damage was done, and while these people attempted to pretend to be sincere in their willingness to make the matter go away, so they wont pay for it down the road, They have not, IN ANY ANNER, even attempted to make any of this right. Do not trust this Hospital or Family Practice, and especially not the completely dishonorable, irresponsible and highly unprofessional Urology Department. For what they did to us, they deserve no stars at all! read more

Came from urgent care here for a STAT ct scan this morning, because Dr thinks my appendix is the problem. Valet, front info staff, all very nice. The problem was the outpatient person. She said it would be a 4 to 5 hour wait because emergency room gets first dibs! Now I get up at 4:30 everyday and hadn't eaten anything but half a bagel at 6. It's now 11:30 AM. She then tells me you have to be fasting 8 hours for the contrast drink etc. I was already hangry, but to the tell me STAT isn't more important than the other people. I left!!! I'll call my insurance and see who can schedule me first thing tomorrow. If I die, I die! Please retrain your people in that department. The staff is mixed between assistance that are nice and one in particular who isn't, and seems to dislike her job and the patients. My biggest concern is with the doctor they refer to as "Dr. K". He kept me a much too high dose of Xanax for about four years. I'm a senior, and he should've known these benzos were too much for me to handle is result I have memory loss , I had to cancel one appointment and they cut me off called from my meds. So I ended up in the ER today to get a small script until I see a new doctor on Friday. Anyone will tell you that quitting benzos suddenly, especially Xanax, which he was giving me. Can result in a seizure. After all these years of being as patient, he didn't even care. One of the other doctors got her degree in Guatemala. There's another guy I don't know, but if his standard of care is the same as Dr. K, I'd strongly advise. avoiding this place. read more

I am referring the E R specifically here, and would have given it a 0 if I could. BEWARE!! I had an injury working on my pool at home in early January that required my wife to call 911 to get help to hoist me out of our cold pool and take me to this Emergency Room. I was left in the hallway on a sopping wet gurney for the the entire 5 hours I was there. I was not changed from my cold sopping wet clothes or placed on a dry gurney for nearly 3 hours of the time I was waiting to be seen, at which time I was finally taken to get X-rays. When I finally saw a doctor for a few minutes, he misdiagnosed the X-rays as a hairline fracture of my leg, whereupon I was to be given a set of crutches, a pain med prescription and sent home! My pain was also matched by my personal embarrassment because when I was first changed into the gown, it was in front of everyone around in the hallway, and then upon been given crutches I had to struggle 50-60 feet to a bathroom to both struggle to use the facilities and also change clothes by myself. The gown had been untied in back so I again was showing myself to everyone. I did not have a hairline fracture, but rather a crushed tibia plateau which required a specialist to rebuild my leg. Because I was not admitted and did not have a C T Scan performed, I ultimately lost 16 days laying on a couch before I could get effective surgical treatment. I have just recently been discharged to return home after nearly 3 months to deal with outpatient physical therapy. I know the hospital will argue COVID as a defense, but the lack of any competent medical care was far below what any emergency patient should receive. read more

I'd really like to I had to be somewhat understanding if the ER was swamped the night I came but they weren't , I had sepsis they put me on an IV drip, and basically forgot me, I was completely incapacitated, so consequently was in need of the nurses assistance, being that I couldn't get up.. they left me on a bed pan forever, I had to be picked up by ambulance to go to another hospital, ever the guy from the ambulance couldn't believe how everyone was standing around visiting .. they really need to let a person let one person from their family be with them, I needed an advocate .. if masks really are supposed to work why they can't they come in, or have them do a quick Covid test.. this was without a doubt the most humiliating experience I've ever had.. .. read more

So hear is a honest review about Simi Valley ER. Los Robles has always been are go to ER and hospital for anything. We needed to all an ambulance and since we are in Moorpark we could pick which hospital we wanted to go to. The AMR team was pushing for Simi Valley we really want to go to Los Robles but went with what they said they do this all the time. They might know something that we don't know. Once at Simi there was about a 30 min wait to get a bed. The room the call a room is more like a slit in the wall that is called a bay. There is not privacy and its in a lot of hallway traffic. They only allowed two people at a time back. Los Robles does not have any issues just the person much be 12 or older. There was no welcoming felling more like your just a number and how can we get you in and out. The doctors really had no idea what was wrong just put a band- aid over the issue and said have a nice day. There was no follow ups or a doctor to call and check in. We have been to Los Robles for an emergency as well that we should have called an ambulance for but we did not. There way much better care there, and everyone was welcoming and making sure we had the best experience one can have in the ER. I was treated like a person and my family was allowed to be in the room as well. If you can pick go to Los Robles they are way better in my opinion. The ER room are privet so you can have so quite and not have the sounds of everyone outside knowing your business. read more

The only good thing about this hospital are the nurses. The doctors can care less. I was admitted for 2 days and I saw one doctor ONCE for a whole 3 minutes. I was supposed to go through physical therapy and see some other specialists but no one ever came. I didn't even know what I had going on until after 24 hours of being in a room. The nurses were amazing and attentive. I got more answers out of them then the "doctor". Very disappointed. Horrible bedside manner. These doctors need to realize it all patients are privy to health care and know what is going on with their bodies. They are scared and want answers. Taking an extra few minutes with them to explain AND ACTUALLY EXAM THEM makes a Big difference. You're management staff needs to be much more involved in what is going on and maybe do some sort of tracking to see the piece of shit care your doctors are providing read more

I was admitted to Simi Adventist hospital twice this year . Once with double pneumonia and influenza A and then for a hip fracture . I am an RN and I have always been afraid to be a patient in a hospital . Both times I was extremely impressed with both the nursing care as well as the other departments that were responsible for my care . The doctors were great too. Shawki A. 10/17/21 I had a fusion lumbar spine surgery on 10/11/21 my doctor said he need to do it in semi valley hospital and plan to be in hospital for five to six days after surgery depends on how the surgery goes ,I have been doing business with Heath care places including hospitals but this is the worse experience hospital ever, the staff nurse and hospital doctor has worse experience and have no knowledge and no energy to serve patients , they have the poor service ever ,the Nurse's did not help at all I was in hospital for five days they didn't change the bed set not even once, i had to call them multiple times to give me pain medication it takes them more than one hour late to give my medicine,also they refused to help me pathing even the doctor authorized the request for path due to I have a restriction for pending, twisting and lifting as well as I can't move or walk only with the cane, I called the charge nurse the lead nurse and case manager and all lie to me , the first excuse was that they need to put doctor order for pathing which they did and doctor authorized the order then they said the assistant nurse will come and help me showing put never did, and I was waiting and waiting over 5 hours no one showed up, later they come back to my room and said no one can help you shower, however if you need to shower you can do it by yourself here or when you get home, I told them no one at home can help because my wife just had a knee surgery a week ago, but they insist that if I need to shower I will do it myself, I told them you trust me to go to path my self with the doctor restrictions they reply yes if you need shower you do it yourself we wait here in the room while you shower then I said yes I will go by myself however you are responsible if something bad happened to me, and that what exactly happened soon I was in shower I lost my balance my foot slipped and fell in shower injured my back, spinal cord, cost me nerve damage and pain, numbness and tingling start shutting down to my lower extremities all the way to my feet, as well as injured my shoulder, I called them and moved me back to bed and told me I can't walk anymore by myself at all they contact my surgeon doctor who is immediately requested a cat-scan for injured parts and extended my stay for one more day in the hospital , I am now struggling with new injuries because of the stupid stuff and stupid doctor who just want to discharged me since second day of the surgery even my surgeon doctor request me to stay in hospital until Thursday which 10/14/21because they are worried about the money the insurance may not pay them more then two days after surgery, they not worry about the health and safety of the patient.I called the 911 and police station while I was in hospital because they refused to give me something in writing about the new injuries in the shower, they said we will have something in writing but we will kept it for internal purpose only.they all lies and back each other up even if they lied and covered each other up Even if costs them to lies. I will call a legal civil law attorney and go after them legally in court. Because they heat me physically and emotionally I spent five days there look like in hell not in hospital, I was so upset and still continue getting nerves and get mad easily over small things . If I would rating them below zero I will, I do highly recommend no one visit this hospital at all, they are the worse ever. read more

worst ER ive ever been too...came in weak from a terrible flu. left me outside for 30 minutes. then took my inside and forgot about me for 2 hours while i vomited on their floor. once they remembered i was there they said if i wanted treatment it would be another hour. i left. said they were going to call in a prescription for me. never happened. I had a procedure in February. My overall experience with the medical staff and the facility was excellent and I would give Adventist a 5 stars if it's not for them being untruthful about the cost. In addition, having to deal with rude and uncareful staff at the Accounting Department is a total turnoff. At the time of my service, I was told to pay immediately or services could not be rendered. I specifically asked the receptionist multiple times if I would receive any additional payments and was assured there would be none since I dont have the resources to deal with unexpected bills. Obviously, this was not the case. I am now stuck with a large bill which has caused me so much stress. They did offer financial assistance which required me to provide extensive personal information. I would not return for future services and would not recommend anyone unless you have a lot of money. read more

Always a terrible experience last week I went for a cyst I have in my right ovary I checked in at about 10:30 I waited till three before asking if I was still going to be seen at this point the hospital is a mad house I decide to sit in the chair and try and rest so I shut my eyes and my sister told me she would wake me if they called my name so tell me why one of the I believe to be security in blue literally runs my foot over with a woman in a wheel chair I scream out in pain AND HE DOESNT MOVE THE WHEELCHAIR finally my sister kinda had to push him at this point I get up and start yelling I'm really confused what the fuck is going on here and I go up to the front to tell the two girls about how the guy ran over my foot he legit ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME no sorry or anything until the two nice girls at the front practically made him apologize he said I was in his way and wasn't moving I told him my eyes were shut and if I had seen him I would've moved he could've acted like an adult and said EXCUSE ME how hard is that? I left at around 6 in the evening without even having seen a doctor only a nurse practitioner... this isn't even the worst part the worst part was I was right in the middle of a "pelvic" ultrasound and the girl rips of her gloves and says "actually I'm off at three thirty we're gonna have someone come and finish you up" it was so dehumanizing never again even if I'm on the verge of death will I go here read more
