We arrived just after the recommended regular arrival time expecting to actually play, only to be told that the earliest available time was roughly two hours later, while pickleball had a wait of around four hours. For a paid, ticketed event costing $80+, that's completely unacceptable. If you're selling tickets, there should be some reasonable relationship between the number of people admitted and the actual capacity of the courts and venue. We waited around for about half an hour but ultimately left without playing anything and without even getting a drink. The most frustrating part is that none of this was communicated beforehand. Had we known that buying a ticket effectively meant standing around for hours hoping to get a court, we never would have gone. It felt less like a properly organized event and more like they simply sold as many tickets as possible without much regard for whether attendees could actually participate. Extremely poor planning and a terrible customer experience.

Only problem was that I never received the gate code to the courts neither via email nor text message... so yeah that would have been a problem if someone didn't open it from the inside at my reservation time. I signed up based on the original schedule, and the cancellation was completely outside of my control. When I couldn't attend the rescheduled class, I was told I would forfeit the class without any exception or credit. I understand that businesses need policies, but I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility in a situation caused by weather and a schedule change initiated by the organization. A one-time exception or make-up option would have gone a long way. This rating does not reflect the quality of the coaches, who were great. The 3 stars are due to the rigidity of the scheduling and attendance policies.

Amazing staff--very kind and helpful, they're personable and help me when I need a specific court or want to book something or need my rackets restrung. They know my name and are very thoughtful--always with a smile. Shoutout to club manager Jake Stafford and tennis racket stringer Gary Bender. I love them and the front desk staff and cleaning crew--everyone is very friendly, helpful, understanding, and accommodating. Multiple times, I have booked courts and had to cancel (or mixed up my court times) and they've helped remedy the situation. Facilities are very nice--I love the pool, hot tub, locker rooms, and courts. The lights are good for night playing and there's some nice seating by the pickleball courts. The views are so good--I love seeing high rises and the Bay and Salesforce Tower looming behind over the club. I love the app for booking courts (and also book classes at Bay Club SF which is further down along the Embarcadero.) Gateway also has a few classes (like a weekly yoga on the grass.) Location is very convenient near downtown and the financial district. It's served by multiple Muni lines and BART and Muni Metro, and there's street parking and a small lot too! I appreciate that Paul's clinic has a structured approach, ensuring we warm up properly, learn swing techniques, and enjoy playing against each other. Each clinic is capped at 6 people and lasts 90 minutes. Paul pays close attention to each student, providing immediate corrections and recommendations. This helps us know what to improve, making the 90-minute clinic engaging and productive. Most importantly, it's always a good vibe at Paul's tennis clinic, making it a great place to learn a new sport, stay active, and meet new tennis friends!

The way this situation was handled left a very negative impression because I felt they thought I was not telling the truth. I love just shooting around--not many places to do that in SF it seems (and some of the public courts intimidate me because people play pick-up!). The rooftop view is wonderful. You can take classes there and also just workout by yourself. Classes-wise, I'm a fan of Ignite (kinda like Barry's) and Zumba and some of their yoga classes. I must, however, give the biggest of shoutouts to - Romina, who teaches barre, dance, and mat pilates. Her classes make my day! She has great energy and is hilarious and kind and welcoming. She deserves a raise and so much love! I'll take anything with her. - Andres who teaches some spin classes--he's a real SF cyclist and pushes people hard. I love his instruction. There's a smoothie-making robot upstairs and some space to work from. They're always remodeling and adapting and adding new classes and revamping one of the many levels (it's a big building.) One day, this tennis player will try squash! I like the diversity of classes. This location is not the easiest to get to public transit-wise, but it's worth getting to!
