East coaster here! Came here a couple of years ago and when I came back to Oregon, I knew I had to return. This time, I brought my friends from Hillsboro, one who is hesitant about most wines, especially reds. This place convinced her that reds can be good, so I take a lot of pride in being able to show her and her husband this gem. They said they'll definitely take their parents here too. The views are amazing, the people are friendly, and tipping is very much optional. I recommend doing the tasting and then getting a glass and strolling the property. There are adirondak chairs out front and picnic tables out back. They'll open up the glass folding windows in the tasting room on breezy days. There are beautiful flowers all over the property. Some of the wines are named after the owners' dogs - Delilah's Cuvee is my favorite! read more

We have visited many vineyards in this area, and this one is one of the more beautiful tasting rooms we have seen. It is not huge, but its octagonal design makes you feel you have your own space to enjoy the spectacular view and delicious wine. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Blakeslee is hidden back from the bustle of 99 in Sherwood. It's a treasure. Quiet and almost overlooked but don't let that be a deterrent, because the wine should not be overlooked. It is FABULOUS. We decided to come here because it was close by and we had heard it was great! Ambiance was nice! Great views! The womens who helped us was nice. Until we were leaving and never received our receipt. We walked up to ask for it because we wanted to leave a tip. Apparently the one who helped us added her own 30% tip to our tab. We didn't complain about it as it's not our style but it's been bothering me for a while and I wonder if they do this to others without their knowledge. I'd check your receipts if you don't get one. When looking back on the website it does say they add a 20% tab on parties 6 or more. Which we only had 5 and it was way over 20%. Good wine, great views, fantastic service. I recently tasted at Blakeslee with a few wine club members. The excitement began during the drive up to the tasting room from the roadway, where incredible views across the valley took my breath away. The clear vistas on the fall day were gorgeous, with much of the Cascade Range in view. Once inside, we were greeted in a warm, bright space that felt comforting and familiar. There was football on, views galore, and plenty of fascinating Oregon history and wine country information - a true space for anyone! Mary was our server (I think), and she was very helpful for the entire journey. It was great to learn so much about the history of the land and the current owners. I enjoyed tasting the variety of wines produced on the property and nearby, and I definitely preferred the rosé blend and the Chardonnays. If you are a fan of Pinots, you will like them, too, but the aromas and flavors are slightly tamer than my preference for bright fruit and spice notes. We also ordered a charcuterie board, and the crew was very accommodating to all of our needs. We spent some time walking the grounds, too, and I can absolutely see myself returning to drink some rosé by the pool in summer. read more

I have always had a wonderful experience at this winery. It is a small, family run place, and the wines are very very very good. The Pinot's are so smooth, rich and delicious. Our favorite is the Chardonnay. We actually joined their wine club and it has wonderful perks attached to it(free tastings, periodic special events,etc). It's the only wine club we belong to- but we feel like we are "VIP special types" when we visit. They have finally increased their staff after the lull during the pandemic downturn. the increased staff is attentive and personable, and very knowledgeable about each wine. All this rolled into a spectacular setting with beautiful gardens and an amazing view of the entire valley and snow capped peaks. I'm so glad we stopped at Blakeslee. We were in the area and felt like doing a tasting. I would encourage getting a reservation as they did get busy and were near capacity. The views and the service were great. When it comes to wine, tastings are very subjective. We did find a couple vintages we enjoyed, so we got a couple bottles to bring home with us. Don't check your local stores, the only place to get this wine is at the winery. It's well worth the drive out. The tasting room is a fantastic space. I booked a July 2024 visit to Blakeslee winery for a group of 14 friends and family. Cost for tasting fee is $40 per person plus a 20% gratuity. The weather was beautiful, and the views from the tasting room were absolutely stunning, but unfortunately, the experience fell short in other areas. The pours during the standard tasting were disappointingly small, almost to the point of being awkward. We watched as our host divided half of a single bottle among 14 glasses for each pour, which felt stingy. Moreover, the constant pressure to purchase bottles to enjoy sitting by the "member exclusive" pool added to our discomfort. While the location has potential, this winery doesn't even remotely measure up to the renowned experiences of Napa Valley or Italy. It also pales in comparison to many of the other fantastic wineries and scenic options in the Portland area The wine doesn't taste good either. A tiny winery owned by a nice couple on a beautiful hilly property property producing high quality wines at very reasonable prices. We visited as a part of a private wine tour and were delighted by the warm hospitality and the quality wines. We started our tasting with the just released, refreshing Rose then moved inside for a taste of the oakey Chardonnay. Next we sat down by the infinity pool overlooking the valley and tasted three quality Pinot noir wines. After meeting the owners, we were treated to a a bonus taste of their unique white Pinot which was so delightful. Most all of their wine is sold direct to consumer and through their wine club. One of my favorite places to go and to bring friends and family that visit the area. The view is stunning, the wine is good. Plenty of places to sit (gazebo, inside patio, poolside patio, picnic tables, or bring your own picnic blanket). They allow outside food but usually has something small to snack on for purchase. I love the events they offer - adult Easter egg hunt, Kentucky Derby theme and watch party. They also had wine popsicles last year. Yes! You read that right, WINE POPSICLES. Perfect for how hot it was last year. My husband and I love their wine and looked at what the cost of being a member was. It's FREE! Basically, you sign up to buy 12 bottles a year. Simple enough! From then on all your tastings are free (and tastings are then free for up to 4 friends/family a year if you bring them with you). 10% off anything you buy and the best part is the wine pickup parties! Last summer there was a full luau with a roasted pig and live Hawaiian music. It was fantastic. The fall was a small masquerade ball with live owls and hawks you could see up close and talk to the trainers. This spring was a pizza and movie party in their newly finished inclosed gazebo with a warm cozy fireplace. The cost of all of that alone, makes me feel like we are getting free wine. Also, when you visit you will probably see Shela running around. She's the owner (and the wine named after her is the BEST!) She also does all the gardening and gets to know her members. This was a different wine tasting experience compared to the other wineries I have visited and it is not bad. This is a regular wine tasting where you are seated together with a group of people and learn about the wines. This was more of you were attended to for only you and your own party. As in you can try each wine at the tasting at youe own pace. We reserved the elite tasting, which is only $20 more than the regular tasting. The elite tasting show cases exclusive wines that I believe were more popular and more unique than what you wouls try for a regular tasting. What was served was definitely exquisite and worth paying for. They were smooth and rich to the taste. Only problem with this whole experience was reserving our tine. I reserved for an elite tasting via their website by submitting a form. I figured after a couple days I would hear back from them as I had left an email and phone number. No response. I then proceeded to email them to confirm my reservation and they did not receive my form. So they decided to write me down for a time that would best suit me. From there, I was convinced I had a reservation. Upon our arrival a few days later, we checked in at the front desk for our reserved time. Apparently we were not jotted down for the agreed allotted time. We had to wait a while for the staff to sort it out. Thankfully, after sorting, they decided to seat us immediately. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I've heard good things about the wine (they are pretty good). The vineyard is beautiful and close to home. The tasting room looks awesome with views of the valley. The only problem is we brought our kids... :/ PROS - The wines are really tasty. We ended up buying some rosé and estate Pinot. - The views are awesome. - It's close to town (Tigard) - The charcuterie plate was pretty good. CONS - If you bring your kids you can't enjoy the tasting room with pizza ovens, nice tables/chairs, shade from the sun, and amazing views. They make you sit in the backyard at a picnic table. I wouldn't consider this place to be "kid friendly". - The flight tasting was $20 per person and they used those little pour regulators that limit each pour to 1 or 2 oz. I understand they do this for inventory control and not to over pour, but it seems cheap to me. Ends up being $4 per 2 oz pour. Any time I go to a bar or winery and see these little things I walk away. - The wines are good... but they are overpriced. Average bottle is $38. And to waive the tasting fee you must buy 2 bottles. We did end up buying 4 bottles of wine. I'm sure the experience would have been better without the kids. Next time we'll leave them at home. read more

We were attending a private function here and the views are AMAZING!!! Tried a flight of three wines and had to buy a glass of each. Small batches make for great wine. We want to come back and try their tasting room. Nice owners and staff. They are a small batch winery and have a limited number of bottles, hence a pretty exclusive wine club. With friends coming from out of state and never having experience a winery we scheduled a wine tour with a company and knew that we wanted Blakeslee Vineyard Estate to be our first stop. My wife and I had been to Blakeslee twice prior and loved all of the the wines, service, beautiful ambiance and the delicious cheese board. Not only did Blakeslee delivery on the above they went over and beyond when we had an unfortunate occurrence with the wine tour company we had hired and we're left stranded there at the winery. The gracious and wonderful person who was not only pouring and explaining our wines also took it upon herself to go and explain our situation to the manager of Blakeslee and a staff member overheard the conversation and offered to take us on the wine tour we thought was ruined. This person( yes we remember your name ) was so knowledgeable of the area, welcoming gave us the exact experience we wanted to have. What a fantastic wine tasting experience with a gorgeous view of Snow capped Mount Hood! Located on family property with a tasting room only 2 years old. Cheerful and well informed women greeted us and gave us a tour of the grounds. Explained the history of the family and how they found themselves in the wine business! We walked around appreciating the beautiful home, patio and view with our first glass of wine and found our way to the patio reception to sit back and enjoy the rest of our wine tastings. Very much loved the at ease way in which the staff explained their wine to us and engaged us throughout our visit. While we were there young couples came with their blankets and bought a couple of glasses of wine to enjoy on the lawn! Awesome! We left with a bottle of wine and a candle! This place was fantastic. Wine and views were 5/5. The ONLY reason I'm giving them a 2 star is because we sat at a table with a BIG sign that said "charcuterie $20". We ordered it and then we're surprised by the bill. The actual board was MUCH more expensive than advertised. After a verrrrrrry close look at the sign it seems as though they are advertising a take home charcuterie board (I think only the physical board??).... Which seems silly. Not many people come to a winery to take home a charcuterie. Therefore, my theory is This winery is very well aware of the miscommunication this big sign leads to. In fact, when I brought it up the server she said "oohhhh so sorry for that miscommunication". This sign is 100% part of their selling point. Trick customers into thinking the charcuterie is $20 and charge them MUCH more for an in house charcuterie... it's a damn shame. Probably won't return. Despite the tasty wine. read more

Day 2 of our visit: We revisited Blake's winery to have a picnic experience and end it with wine tasting. Just as we were wrapping up the picnic and planning to go to the tasting room, Bill Blakeslee, the owner approached us. It was the most horrible experience! He was completely rude and demanded that we buy wine or leave! We were just utterly shocked and taken aback by his rude statements. Bill literally stood right next to us to make a decision to buy wine (which we were planning to do similar to Day 1). We left the premises and we will never visit again. A complete contrast in client service between Sheila and Bill. Day 1 of our visit: I was visiting from New York and on our wine tour in/around the Portland. We visited Blake's winery with my family and really liked the scenic views. We all got glasses of wine and cheese boards and we were well greeted by Sheila Blakeslee. We ended up spending about $200 and decided to revisit again the next day and make a picnic of the experience. What better than a picnic and end it with wine. read more

Just in Portland for a day and wanted to do some wine tasting that was not too far from downtown. We decided on to try Blakeslee and we were very happy with our choice. First off the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Also the grounds and tasting room were great and matched the view. Upon arrival to the vineyard we were very impressed had high hopes with this first impression. Sadly once we walked in for our reservation we were ignored by the staff. Waiting is no issue at all, but when workers (2 youngish men with dark hair) avoid acknowledging you while walking past numerous times it shows poor PR skills. A simple "We will be right with you" is so easy and goes a long way. Especially after 7 minute. I have to say that sort of tainted the experience from the start. The view is wonderful and the tasting room is very nice. The music they were playing was like listening to Z100. When I go wine tasting out in the country I go to get away from all that but this just brought it right back in. Wasn't a deal breaker of course but it sort of sprinkled a bit more irritation over the experience. Wine tasting was fine. Very small pours for $20 and wines were nice. I'm glad there are many lovely vineyards within a close range to still visit because it will be a very long time before circling back around to Blakeslee again. read more

I went to this winery for a pre birthday celebration with my husband. We met the owner who shared their story with us and was very friendly. The other servers were also very pleasant. They have some amazing views from their infinity pool area which is only for members but we were allowed because it was my birthday..yay! We got a bottle of their Pinot noir. It was a beautiful Oregon Pinot noir with some smoky taste to it. We also got their cheese plate which I think lacked compared to some other wineries I've been to. Not very impressed with the presentation and the cheeses. I don't expect a basic slice of cheddar in a winery cheese plate. We got a bottle of wine but were charged a dollar for a tiny bottle of water..not cool! I've been to many wineries in the area with better offerings. I would go back for the wine and the views but I hope the views from non member areas as the same to justify that. read more

I've been here so many times and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet! In the spirit of full disclosure, we are members of the wine club but I'll tell you why. 1) AMAZING wine! This is the good stuff my friends and it's pretty reasonably priced. 2) The winery- It's beautiful! I go there to just relax and it does the trick every time. The view of Mt. Hood is stunning and it's incredibly peaceful. There are multiple areas to relax from the fire pit, to the indoor tasting room and next to the infinity pool-my personal favorite. There's nothing like sharing a bottle of wine next to the pool in the summer. Just don't forget your sunscreen :) 3) Wine Club-It's the best one around. The price is great and the discount makes it very worth it. They throw wonderful wine club events often and Sheila's wine cork top is something not to be missed. Jordan and Brandon are so personable and never mind that we bring our 2 year old with us at times. Throw in free tastings that we can brings friends too and it's a great deal.
