I usually take out-of-town guests to visit Ulu Mana (after we get fresh fried taro chips from the Hawaiian Chip Company across the street) because HCC gives out coupons for free cookies. I will pick up their ulu beet hummus and have my guests sample the ulu chips. One visit, I ran into a friend who told me the acai bowls were the best in town. I skeptically asked if she had tried all the acai bowls to determine that and she said YES I DID! lol. So of course I had to try one and was hooked! These are damn good acai bowls! Pictured is the PB & Cacao Acai Bowl. Note: They offer you a sample of whatever shortbread cookie they are baking that day. One visit, I got a cookie fresh out of the oven. HEAVENLY! Unfortunately, that spoiled me and "not fresh out of the oven" cookies just don't hit the same. I wish they set a time people could come in to buy fresh out of the oven cookies with milk or something. I would totally stop in for that!

They suggested calling in beforehand to place an order so that it's ready upon arrival. The chips were thin and crispy. We walked out with a bag of the garlic bits - as good as the regular ones but just not as pretty, as well as a bag of cookies. We'll definitely be back to try a fresh box of chips next time.

Long ago I had given up on enjoying this admittedly polarizing pleasure, but Aloha Tofu's delightfully slimy little number is 100% vegan, through and through. For the uninitiated, it's generally a love or hate experience, with little space for ambiguity, although one of the best ways to ease into natto appreciation is with the aid of piping hot miso soup. The warm broth helps dissolve the stringy stickiness, while the miso paste pairs harmoniously with the funky, fermented whole soybean flavor. Even if you've found it hard to swallow before, a better brand can make all the difference in the world.

I saw (on Instagram) that Aloha Tofu Factory was celebrating their 75th Anniversary by selling Tofu at the factory for 75 cents a block! Wow! What a great deal! However, I didn't want to stand in line with the crowd. Later, I saw an Instagram contest where the prize was a gift card, a special bottle of ponzu sauce, and a commemorative bottle of soy sauce from Aloha Tofu Factory! The prize also included a gift card from Restaurant Suntory and hi_grindz. Wow! What a great package... And I won it! Thank you so much! It was an educational experience because I found out where the factory is and that they not only have soft and firm tofu available for sale, but they also have merchandise and fresh soy milk! I bought pens, towels, and note pads! The packaging is so clever! Service was efficient, polite, and friendly! This is such an authentic local business with Aloha Spirit! I'm so happy to have found this clean, bright, and cool place! I look forward to returning and getting more gifts here!

Looked it up the next day and day after and USPS said hasnt been dropped off. I email again after 3 days of no info...no response. Chatted on their site and hours later they said they dont have any of that product (still beign sold online however) and can refund my money...but again this would take many days to get my money back. Took 6 days and emails from me to find out they don't have the product, won't have if for a while but kept my money and still taking other people's money. There is a store in Waikiki on Lauula Street, too. They also have a mail order business which I'd like to address. Going online, there are several vendors of beef chips. Paradise Jerky's product is priced well. They have good variety bundles, if you want more than one flavor. They have (perhaps) the lowest purchase minimum to earn free shipping. And once ordered, delivery is effected quickly.

He explained that their beef jerky flavors have Japanese-Hawaiian influences. I went with the original jerky which is shoyu based and the wafu is dashi based. The smoked pepper is a more traditional American beef jerky flavor. They were all extremely thin, crispy, and flavorful! Check out this business if you love beef jerky and supporting locals! TIPS: This location is only open 3 days a week, so be sure to check their hours before coming in! This is the only location you can buy large packs for $20, while small packs are $15.

The crust wasn't flaky enough, kinda dense. And the custard part should be smoother but it's quite thick and clumpy. Also didn't have much egg flavor. I was hoping to like it because I love Portuguese egg tart and grew up eating it in Macao but ended up disappointed especially for the price I paid. The folks were very nice though. The cashier was friendly and the guy grabbing the pastries for us took the time to explain the different flavors. Maybe their take on pastel de nata was just not quite what I expected.

Their candies also seem to be pretty fresh. I probably spent over $50 in snacks to bring back and there hasn't been one that I didn't like yet. But they range from about $7-$9 a bag. It's good checking out if you are looking for snacks and want to gift anything. The people working there were nice and parking was easy since they have their own lot.

I have a relative that needs to watch her sugar intake and they have excellent no sugar added brownies, cookies and macadamia nut chocolates. For myself, I love everything here but my favorites are the dark and milk chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and macadamia nut chocolates. These are fantastic gifts to buy if visiting the islands. i buy treats from here to bring as gifts when visiting folks outside of Hawaii and often buy them for myself to eat!

Boxes are always very cute and they seem to have frequent collabs with other businesses.
