Think more "custom, old school, Japanese car experts". This place is a true diamond in the rough, large sea of auto repair shops. I own a heavily modified road racing Datsun 260Z. I learned quickly from several sources that word on the street was to call Garage Zero for my Z car needs. Calling these guys was the best thing I ever did. I can't tell you how happy I've been with the family like approach and care that I've received from these kind folks. This isn't your typical "I need an oil change" type of place. But not to say that they won't give you one if that's all you need. You can expect to be treated like a human being when you call - that's pretty cool in itself. You can also expect real, old fashioned HONESTY. Do you remember what that is? I had a long list of repairs and mods that my Z needed. Everything from tuning carbs to finding a nightmare electrical problem caused by all of the previous custom work I had done prior to seeing Garage Zero. There wasn't anything that John "the owner" couldn't tackle with a smile on his face. Most people would give you lip service about this or that, but not John. He just dives in and tells you like it is in a straight, honest, and friendly manner. No condescending talk, or long lectures from John. He's calm, cool and friendly. If you have an older Japanese car, or even something a bit more modern - This is the place to call for your custom mods, repairs, etc. I wish all gear heads were this fun to work with. Another great perk is that the pricing is very fair! Give Garage Zero a shot - you'll be happy.

Here is my experience with Joe…read more I hired him to refurbish a vintage set of MK Motorsports wheels from @1990. The wheels had one bad spot of curb damage and some pitting on the polished barrels. When I received the wheels, an they looked really nice, I went to have them installed at GranTourismo East (which is a VERY reputable alignment and tire shop (go check their review). Everything went on fine but when we were screwing on the 8" aluminum center caps one of the bolts kept spinning. When removed, it was discovered that the thread had cracked on the wheel. Now you might think that is the complaint, well it's not. Thinking, I bet Joe can fix this, I drive home and park the car. The next morning I get in, I get going a couple of feet before I realize my passenger tires are flat. Brand new Bridgestone Potenza's. I take them back to Gran Tourismo where it is discovered that Joe did not properly re-install my valve stems. Luckily it happened when the car was parked and not when I was driving on the highway or I may not be here to write about it. Anyway, Gran Tourismo tighten the valve stems and problem solved. However, now my newly refinished wheels have a circular scratch on the lip from touching pavement for a few feet. I call Joe and tell him all this, he comes out takes a look, says that Gran Tourismo must have used an impact and broke the tread and that it was their responsibility to check the valve stems. Then he tells me that I should call Metro Wheels to repair the broken thread and take it myself since he'll have to charge me to take it. He also says that the scratch on the edge of the lip will buff out with and emery cloth. Come to find out that the scratch went past the clearcoat and cannot be buffed/polished out. After that no more calls back or texts from Joe. The wheel is currently at Wheel Wizard getting refinished again today 10/27/17. This man does not own up to his own mistakes (even ones that could have resulted in an accident), he passes the buck, and he is entirely unwilling to make things right when they go wrong. I paid him $1180 to do 4 wheels.

I honestly feel a bit guilty not rating 5 stars but here's the small ticky-tack reasons for my rating: I'd of preferred that my brand new vehicles's wheels were removed for full coating of the rims. I also would have liked my car to be debadged and then coated and cured before badges were replaced. But my man was completely upfront about the fact he doesn't remove things at all from a car to coat it and I get his reasons why. I also don't know if anybody does this, but still something I'd of preferred. Again very minor but there was small amounts of glue residue from the sea pack protection on my new car. Apparently it was mistaken as the edge of PPF so instead of removing it the tiny lines were immortalized on my door frame by being coated. And my last minor gripe was that I was sent out into a rain storm because they had another customer lined up. Granted it had been nearly 24hrs so probably was within product guidelines but would have been nice if there were no question the cure was complete before driving home in rain. In the end I highly recommend getting your car coated here despite my tiny problems. Very professional, explained everything great and even dealt with my questions about the small things I mentioned well after I'd picked up my vehicle. No question had I brought my car back they'd of helped remove the adhesive for example. Recommended them to somebody at work just this week.

Got scammed out of $400…read more Stefano Giovanni contacted me on FB after this and offered a refund if I take down the reviews, then proceeded to block me. They operate under Onyx Protective Coating now. I contacted Ceramic Guyz based on a FB ad, told them I needed a paint correction to remove some light swirls and water spots on my black Tesla. They assured me they had worked on 100s of black Teslas. I was told a paint correction was 'minimum 2 steps' and 'always' clay bar first. Sounded good, so I paid a $100 deposit to hold the spot. The day of the appointment, Stefano sent his son who spent a grand total of 2-2.5 hours on the car. I didn't think much of it and it was overcast that day so I couldn't see it in the sun. I went ahead and paid the full $400 with a promise of a refund of the deposit 'hold'. Only after reviewing my driveway camera video I noticed that there was no clay bar and only a single stage polish. The next day in the sun it was obvious that where were still lots of light swirls in the paint (maybe even more than before), and I called Stefano. He assured me he would come back by with his son, take a look, and redo the job. Almost two months have gone by and I've gotten excuse after excuse and ultimately just ghosted me. I even reached out to his son who said he is no longer working with Stefano and has moved out of state. I am pretty sure this business is a scam operating under multiple umbrellas because on Facebook their name has changed to Onyx Protective Technologies with a disconnected number. Bottom line - if you care about your car and know anything about detailing, stay away from Stefano and Ceramic Guyz. i bet half the reviews here are fake. Screenshots and videos as proof.

I should have written this soon as I've been told this location has issues. I had to make a couple trips as the PPE came off on the mirrors and they were out of taillight tint the first visit. After about a month the taillight tint peeled off because they applied it during a rain storm and it did not adhere. That was a waste of $150 and more as I ordered tint and did it myself. The worst part is once the weather cleared and I was able to detail the car myself. I noticed that the wheels and the lower trim had permanent swirl marks in dirt. Apparently they didn't clean the wheels or the lower areas before applying the ceramic coating.. Now it won't come off. I asked for a refund, but after responding with details I was ignored by the owner.

He is completely unreliable and incompetent but in his defense I truly believe he is completely unaware of these flaws. I agreed to meet with him on Friday to leave my truck with him but unfortunately he wasn't there and after I called him numerous times he finally answered and admitted that his alarm clock did not go off and that he would be there in 30 minutes... When he finally got there, we agreed that I would leave my truck with him on Friday and that I would pick it up on Saturday afternoon which would give him enough time to apply the ceramic coating on my vehicle. So the next day, despite me not being able to get a hold of him I decided to go ahead and take an Uber for the 45 min drive to get my truck back. Right before I arrived he finally responded and he unbelievably told me to stop calling so much! Really!? As the Uber dropped me off I was stunned to see that my truck had not moved from where I parked it the day before and that no work had been done! I ended up having to wait outside for over 45 minutes until he got back to give me my key fob. He then tried to say he texted me to let me know that he didn't have a certain towel that was needed for the process and that he needed me to leave my Jeep with him for another day or so haha. I don't have two vehicles, so unfortunately I couldn't do that not to mention that I spent over 100 bucks on Uber and lost hours of my time that I can get back. To his credit, he did offer to pay for the Uber charges IF I came back another day to get the ceramic done, but I told him that has proven to be so unreliable that I simply good good couldn't risk it. In short, despite their high ratings....stay away from this place because it's apparently being run by some kid who has no concept of ethics, time management, or any business sense whatsoever from what I can see.
