This was my second time here, and sadly it will be my last. The first time around, I would have given the restaurant 3 stars based on an average of 4 stars for the food, 2 for low standards of decor, hygiene, and the fact that the bathroom smelled acridly of ammonia, and 3 stars for service that was a little slow, but otherwise ok. However, I'm revising that downward in light of the extremely poor service we experienced this time around. We were barely acknowledged when we walked in. No one approached us to seat us or take our order, so we just awkwardly made our way towards the patio and seated ourselves. It took some time for a waiter, who had been sitting with his friends and watching basketball the entire time, to come over and take our order and clear the table. We ordered a vegetarian combo to split, and two hot teas. Another long interval passed before a waitress showed up with the wrong order, which looked good but wasn't going to work for my boyfriend, who doesn't eat meat. Rather than accept that a miscommunication had been made, she first told me that I was wrong, then tried to convince us to accept the order she brought out instead. I explained the situation, and let her know we didn't want the dish she'd brought us - at which point, she just turned away, without explanation or offering any solution. The waiter, who'd been within earshot the entire time, eventually came over to again insist that we had ordered something that my boyfriend can't eat. We debated for a couple minutes, before I simply had to let him know that if he didn't mind, we just wanted to pay for our teas and leave. He agreed, and proceeded to go back to his seat to continue watching the game, without making any move to bring us our check. After wasting more time sitting around for the check, we finally just got up, handed five dollars to a waitress, and left - which was clearly something we should have done a lot sooner. read more

I ordered nech tibs and falafel. The tibs came with salad and injera - Ethiopian bread. The falafel came with pita and salad. All the food was delicious but the service is extremely slow. The girl who takes orders (and cooks?) does not speak English which resulted in my eating something I am allergic to. I sat outdoors and occassionally got a whiff of cat poop? The bathroom is extremely filthy. Also, besides the server, I was the only girl at the restaurant. I was definitely the only white person. And possibly the only English speaking person as everyone around me spoke Arabic. Awkward! read more

How come this place has 3,5 stars?? Please do yourself a favor and DON'T COME TO THIS PLACE! -The food is bad, lacks in flavor and the term "Mediterranean Food" does not apply here! It is NOT a Mediterranean restaurant at all besides the hookahs on the patio. -REALLY bad service! Really! The food took 30 mins to arrive - badly cooked (the meat was raw when I had asked for "well done") and we were the only adventurous clients there. -During the 30 mins of wait no water of beverage was delivered to our table so we needed to stand up and go ask for it on the kitchen! -They TURNED OFF the lights while we were still eating (that was the first time it has ever happened to me in my entire life!) Yes they just decided to turn off the lights with no previous warning so they could dance some Ethiopian music playing on the TV! (I swear this happened) With no lights left I had to ask for a box and bring the raw meat home to finish grilling it the next day. This is my first bad review, but It was the worst dining experience of my life and I feel like warning you guys. Just stay away! read more

After visiting Three Weavers Brewery across the street I decided to come here for a late dinner. I was very happy with the service, the food, and especially the prices. For three people, the total came out to $27.00. You can't find food this cheap and it was very delicious. I had the Veggie combo platter, egg dish, and lentils and everything was excellent. Checked out this spot after finding out that Front Page Grille is closed on sundays. A happy surprise nonetheless. My amigo, not I, have ever had Ethiopian food before. The menu is simple yet i have no idea what anything was so i just ordered the Lamb dish and my friend ordered a marinated beef dish. All their food is served alongside this spongy crepe type thing, much like you would eat naan with some Indian food or tortillas with Mexican food. But this crepe thing also had a distinct sourdough flavor and smell to it... simply wonderful. A quick google search tells me that the sourdough crepe thing is called an Injera. Along with the injera the dish is served in a bowl where you spoon it onto your injera and eat it all up, with your hands. This food is a hands on experience, prissy eaters beware, you gotta get all up in this food. My lamb appeared to be sauteed with onions and jalapenos. Great dish as a whole however the lamb was a bit gamey, i suspect it was goat. My friend's marinated beef dish was the clear winner. The beef was almost stewed with tomatoes and plenty of garlic, vampires and vampire lovers beware. Seriously, this dish had a strong garlic kick and it was awesome. Along with the garlic, a fresh taste of tomatoes peaked through the taste and complemented the tender marinated beef very well. Overall this was quite the nice surprise and the beginning of my foray into Ethiopian food. read more

It's not like the biggest Ethiopian restaurant but the smaller it is the better the food. They have amazing food and service, food is not as expensive as the other places. This is the best restaurant in Inglewood and LAX area. read more

The service is great, Owner came by and spoke for a bit. The food was delicious! Only reason why its not worthy of 5 stars, is because the building looks like shit and its pretty hard to find. But hey its LA. Also the prices are a little on the high side, but the food is definately quality. You're not getting as much meat as you think you are for what you're paying, but you won't be disappointed with the taste. I'll be back in a month or two. read more

This place has great homemade food, great service, and affordable prices. By all appearances you'll want to run but stick it out, the food is worth it! The back patio is private and chill. You could probably even have a little smokey treat back here and nobody would care. And the service was great. They treated us like family. Like another reviewer said, hopefully they'll get more popular and can upgrade the atmosphere. We had the veggie plate and beef- delish!! No need to drive to Fairfax. read more

This place is fantastic!!!! This is one of the best Ethiopian restaurants in LA where quality meets customer service and price. Their customer service is very warm and attentive. The food is seasoned very well and done right! The food is very fairly priced. I wish this place was closer to where I lived I would definitely be going there alot more. I tried to order food online from this place. When I arrived for pick up they just said they did not approve the order. They received the order and decided they just did not want to do it. None of the people working were able to communicate, nor did they seem to care to want to try. Just said we did not confirm your order. I then asked if they could make the order and was told NO. Dirdawa was fantastic. Stayed for the beef tips after we figured out which door led to the restaurant (it's an inconspicuous door, you may find yourself in the Mexican place next door). Portions were generous, pricing was good, and service was satisfactory. If you're in the area and looking for Ethiopian, you have to try this place out. read more

Great find! The waitress was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for our first Ethiopian food. We shared a vegetarian combo and awaze tibs. Everything was delicious! After waiting 30 minutes for a takeout order, I was charged $2.00 more than the menu price. When I questioned it, I was told their prices had increased. After showing them the lower price listed on the menu, they still would not credit my card. Also, compared to other Ethiopian restaurants near Fairfax, the food was below average. read more

Next time you arrive at LAX during rush hour or perhaps dropping somebody off and don't want to face the traffic home try this hidden gem a few minutes away from the airport. It's a tiny place with a very cool but slightly rundown patio. They offer a small menu of Mediterranean and Ethiopian dishes with some good vegetarian options. In three or four times that I've been here I've never had any of the Mediterranean items but the Ethiopian food is as good or better than the cluster of restaurants on Fairfax. They don't make their own injera bread on site but whatever bakery they use supplies a great product. The Ethiopian coffee is good but I would probably tip my hat to some of the establishments on Fairfax for superior taste with flashier service and authentic African coffee paraphenilia. I would probably give them five stars if they spruced up the decor a little bit and you didn't have to go through the kitchen to get the restroom. read more

i called and placed an order. They told me my food will be ready in about 20 minutes. I got there in 1 hour. The food still wasn't ready at all. I still waited about 20 minute for them to make it. After that the credit card machine wasn't working. I had to walk to 7/11 to get some cash. When I got back, I discovered my order was wrong. They also didn't put salad with my food, even though they said they would. I would never go back there or recommend it. The service was horrible. They didn't apologize and weren't friendly. read more
