We ordered the honey Berbers chicken bits BOMB 10/10 - they were so crispy and so flavorful My husband and best friend ordered the root beer braised short rib- WOW! 10/10 - tender, slightly sweet, buttery rich deliciousness. As a visitor to LA, I had the great fortune to be hosted and treated by a dear friend who is close to the Two Hommes. She made menu selections based on what she loved most and what she knew I would appreciate. She did NOT MISS. I loved every single thing about this place. The vibe is chill but vibrant, with groovy old school R&B and hip-hop music playing overhead but not so loud that you could not have a conversation. We sat at the bar and interacted with the beautiful and friendly bartender and servers and folks from the kitchen. We ordered all of our food at once, but had it come out as it was ready, I enjoyed every exquisite morsel. My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer. I had to scoot on out of there to make my red-eye flight out of LAX and they accommodated my rush. And despite the inexplicable traffic, I made it there and through to the gate in good time. We walked in w/o reservations so we were sat at the bar near the back. Service was great, and the food was tasty. I enjoyed a juicy burger, my husband had the salmon with garlic noodles and my daughter had the chicken minus the sauce. All was devoured. No doggy bag for us. Only complaint was my salty fries, but my husband said we weren't there for the fries. Lol! So we left those behind. Oh and the drinks, amazingly delicious. Two Hommes is a lively corner hangout spot. Everyone here is all smiles and you are treated like family. The service is chill and the food is full of flavor. The Jollof Platter: Each grain of the Ghanaian Jollof Rice is firm, al dente, and seasoned - no mushy rice on this plate. The rice is evenly coated with well balanced spices. You can taste a little curry and a bit of fennel. The arugula salad cuts the richness with its peppery leaves. The caramelized plantains are crispy and gooey. The bomb azz black beans live up to their name, creamy and silky with every spoonful. If you're going to add a protein, make it the Root Beer Braised Short Rib. Braised short rib is a rich and succulent cut of beef. You don't really cut the extremely tender meat as much as you jiggle the moist juicy beef. The root beer makes a nice sticky glaze. They add the habanero sauce and cilantro lime crema on top like frosting on a cupcake. The creamy, sweet, and tangy sauces with chives add an explosion of flavor. The only thing we ordered not pictured I was the Za'atar zucchini which is a shame because it was my favorite dish. It was so incredibly flavorful. 10/10 truly. One of my favorite dishes I've ever eaten. The short rib with whipped sweet potato was exactly what my friend wanted - she loves short rib and this gave her everything she could have asked for. Great depth of flavor, superrr tender. And the whipped sweet potatoes were a great complement. 9/10 The lamb chops were great but definitely needed a different knife for them. Great flavor and cook on the meat though. 9/10 Unfortunately the jollof rice did not hit the mark for me. My best friend from college is Nigerian so I've had tons of his aunty's jollof and this jollof rice just did not stand up to the home cooked goodness I love so much. This was disappointing because my friend had never had jollof rice snd she was looking forward to trying it and was very let down. 7/10 The plantains were great, and I lovedddd the bside of black beans. Those were soooo good! I lovedddd plantains mixed with black beans so I was super happy to finish those off. 10/10 for the beans, 9/10 plantains. The service was great! The location of this restaurant is in a kinda sketchy area. Behind the restaurant is a bunch of dumpsters with trash seagulls flying around. I actually never saw that many seagulls in the city side. Parking is at Ralphs though I'm unsure if you could park there or not. There is a sign for parking for Ralphs only and several parkings are for teachers. Service and food are amazing though. The restaurant is very clean. The bathroom sink has the most narrow faucet ever. The faucet is 1 in above the sink so I don't know how people wash their hands. These are what we ordered 1 Plantain + Crab $20.00 - 3/5. I fried plantain is good with the little bit of crabs on the side. Dish is creative but overall not extraordinary. 1 Root Beer Braised Short Rib - $44.00 5/5 this is the most delicious and my favorite dish. The mashed potato is so creamy and beef is so soft. They have one of the best shrimp & grits dishes I've ever had. It's on par with the best place I've had in New Orleans after 4 visits there. Perfectly cooked shrimp. Thick and creamy grits. Each dish has its own unique flavor. One remark that can sum up this amazing establishment is that each dish has its own unique flavor. Their sauce they use in their grits is very tasty and different. Their perfect pancake was not what I expected; crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, BUT ITS GREAT! Their biscuits are $15 and you get 3, seems crazy but, in my second trip, my family said 'these biscuits are really good' several times before suggesting they should be served complimentary. I finally was able to check out Two Hommes in Inglewood. It did not at all disappoint. Drinks Bahia Beach - very different from the typical flavor profile that I like, but still tasty Sentinels Spritz - so refreshing As for the food, everything was so delicious. We started with the plantain and crab salad. Two of my favorite foods in one dish? Loved this. Next we had the chicken bites which were yummy and my friend's favorite dish. Then we had the jollof platter which I thought would have more flavor but still pretty good. We finished out with the dessert. I first had their plantain sticky cake when I visited the booth that they had at the LA Times best 101 restaurants event and having it at the restaurant was drool worthy. Overall I had a great experience. It can be loud in here. Enough so where you Have to speak to the point it may feel like yelling but you can also watch a game here. What a fun new restaurant! When I heard of Two Hommes, I was immediately intrigued by the African and Caribbean cultures. My friend and I made reservations far ahead in advance because of our busy schedules and it was so nice to have something to look forward to. We tried the chicken bites appetizer, root beer braised short rib, jollof platter of course. I really don't have much experience with these cuisines so I was just enjoying each dish for what it is. For drinks we got the mango margarita which was SO good and not too sweet. We would've gotten two each if we didn't have to drive far after dinner hah. Every dish was delicious and flavorful. Ambiance was great - it was dark and intimate, with good music, bustling with food and drinks going around and people just talking together. My friend and I did have to talk a little loudly to hear each other but it's fine. Service was friendly and we appreciate their recs on the food Parking was easy too. I did try calling several times before and couldn't get any one on the phone even though they just opened. The host was a nice guy and we were quickly seated. Our waitress was nice as well. This was a thin waffle. Menu said it was served with powdered sugar and that was left off the plate. We also got the jollof rice platter which was pricey for $28. You still had to add protein to it so I was a little taken aback. Had the bbq jerk sauce and it was spicy! They had other sauces as well. I didn't like that if you simply wanted the sauce on the side it was an up charge. That's so odd. The plantains that are supposed to be included didn't come out with the meal and I had to inquire if it was supposed to. The waitress quickly rectified that issue. I just feel like that platter was over priced. Tried the mango lemonade, not sweet more sour. Had 2 coffees which weren't priced on the menu and at $5 a cup could have come in a bigger cup to be honest. Also the way they served the food, it's wasn't all at once. First off, the vibes in there were immaculate. It's a great place for a date night with dim lighting and great music. The drinks - genuinely superb and so yummy. My bf got the Sentinela Sour and I got the Sobolo Spritz. Drinks came out quickly, so I ended up finishing at least half of my drink before the food came out. I loved the lamb and white bean hummus the most out of everything we got! The flatbread was so soft and was a perfect vehicle for the hummus. The hummus itself was nice and bright from the fresh herbs. I got the Jollof Platter which I would give an 8/10. Without the addition of protein, it's probably a 7/10. The protein makes it a more complete meal and I liked the flavor of the berbere shrimp. The sauces that it came with made the platter more flavorful. The jollof rice itself was ok, I've had some homemade jollof rice that was much better. My boyfriend got the Chilean Seabass which was fine, but small portion. The mains were pretty expensive for what they were so I probs wouldn't get them again. One thing I would get again is the dessert! It ended off our meal nicely. This has been on my list for years and I finally went with my husband for brunch. I did not take too much content because I was too busy stuffing my face! I had the pineapple spicy marg, delish. I switched to their chenin blanc for our meal. We had the chicken bites and biscuits for appetizers, CRAZY GOOD. The bites had a sauce that was spicy, a touch of sweet, sublime. Those biscuits, if you have a cheat carb day, get these. I have had many versions of shrimp and grits, quite possibly the best I ever had, this dish deserves an award. We barely had room for our catfish filet which was a generous portion and not overcooked, common in southern cooking. Energetic and loud. Everyone seems to be having a good time. 10/10 lamb hummus. I always love lamb for how fat and rich in flavor it is. The lamb bits in the hummus certainly delivered all the elements I love about lamb. The hummus itself is interesting, because it's on the more watery side. But it really doesn't matter that much as it goes quite well with the bread that comes with. I am curious if the bread is where the African characters is? Since it definitely tastes like some kind of grain more commonly used in African cuisine. 10/10 grilled branzino. $14 for a grilled branzino add-on? The pricing at two hommes confuses me, since the noodle itself is $20, so it's more than the fish? I guess you have to order at least one main to order the protein. But hello, $14 for grilled branzino is AMAZING, I should have ordered two of this fish! Love the crispy branzino skin, packed with exotic seasoning! Grilling (or searing) seafood is not easy, as it's very easy to lose the moisture and then the seafood just hardens and loses all its sweetness. But NOT this branzino, so soft and tender and sweetness from this fish is well preserved. 5/10 for the rice and noodle and the concept of adding protein on top of the rice and noodle. I like to read a good story not because I get to decide what the character does, but becauseI want to follow the main character's journey. So I come to a restaurant more curious about the story the chef wants to tell. If you are telling me the noodle goes quite well with any kinds of protein, then I get really skeptical, since maybe that just means I don't need the noodles. Also the noodle sauce is overpowering. If I were to come back to this place again, I'd just order one noodle, and a bunch of protein options which I am totally convinced by the heightened level of this grilled branzino. I am a little unhappy with the service though. For the first 50min, we only got served one appetizer. The server seemed to have forgotten about our lamb hummus appetizer. Everything was perfect! I kept hearing about this place and it's a trek for us. Decided to snag the only reservation I saw the week of Christmas and it was in the top 5 of meals I've had all year. The space is pretty small but they maximized seating and did a good job with making it feel cozy and updated. The food was exceptional and so much flavor. I would get everything we had again. I finally made it to Two Hommes. And overall, it did not disappoint. But I'll get into the specifics in a bit. I'll start off with parking. Killing two birds with one stone, I shopped at Ralph's and parked in the the lot as close to the Two Hommes as I could. I needed to get some stuff plus, the restaurants wasn't open yet. One of the curses of getting to places early. There were signs about parking in the lot but I ignored them because I was a Ralph's customer. There's also street parking. And I don't know what those restrictions are. I recommend making reservations. I took a chance and got there at opening and since the reservation open slots were all available, I figured maybe it wasn't busy during the week. Diners started filing in as I was on my way out. Not packed but it was still early. Service was great. Left me to my own devices checking on me here and there. There was a separate person delivering my order - runner or chef, I don't know but I didn't ask, and he didn't really engage other than to announce what he was delivering. Even the host checked on me a few times. Then there was the food. I really enjoyed all the dishes starting with the Suya Shrooms and Greens. I've not had that mix of flavors before and my palette took a liking to it. I cleared the dish and could have and would have eaten more if the serving size were larger. Great starter. Then I moved the main course. Garlic Noodles and I added (protein) the Lamb Chops. Loved the lamb but wasn't keen on the Garlic Noodles. The dish wasn't bland or imbalanced - I guess I'm just used to the "Asian" style of the dish - not this bold, little spicy and smoky rendition. I'm used to the softer, slightly chewy noodles compared to the almost al dente from last night's dish. And I love al dente. Saving room for dessert (carrot cake) I saved a Lamb Chop and some of the noodles which I'll change the profile by adding a butter and lime but I'll say it wasn't bad, it was unexpected and possibly something that for me, might have to be listed as an acquired taste. I already mentioned the dessert - and I inhaled it. I was already full, not just from the food but the drinks - no alcohol last night - I had the daily juice of the day. A few servings. Careful - it's an extra charge for refills, which the server did mention but still no where in the vicinity of the cost had I had a cocktail or two. On that note, alcohol is served! This is my favorite restaurant ever. Have been coming for a few years and Two Hommés has consistently been amazing. We came last night to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. We ordered the Root Beer Braised Short Rib, the Za'atar Zucchini, the Jollof Platter with BBQ Jerk Cauliflower, and Garlic Noodle. This was the first time I've ordered the short rib. It was extremely tender and it paired with the sweet potato mash to deliver a burst of flavor. It's rare to go to a restaurant and have every dish be A+. Nita was our server and she was so kind and attentive. We loved her. She brought a birthday card signed by the staff and a delicious ice cream (made by the chefs) treat for my SIL. Finally had the chance to try this spot out when I spotted a reservation at the bar a few hours before. Parking wasn't really an issue as there is street parking. Walked in at my reservation time and you definitely get that energy and buzz you normally feel at trendy LA joints. I was a bit disappointed when I was brought to my seat at the bar. Theres 2 counter areas with one more a part of the main dining area and the second counter is located along the hallway leading to the restroom. This area seemed like an afterthought and felt disconnected. The view the whole time is yourself as you're staring into a mirror attached to a wall. Service also felt like it was missing as my server was not as present during my time there. Onto the topic of food... overall solid with good flavors but there were certain aspects in each dish that kept it from being stellar. I ordered the fish tostada, grilled broccolini, jollof platter with lamb chops, and the sticky plantain cake for dessert. I was half expecting the tostada to be served with raw fish, but this fish was cooked. Was never told what kind of fish it was. Flavor and texture was good especially with the pickled veg on the side, but the fish was slightly over cooked. Grilled broccolini was a solid dish with a burst of flavor and texture. The jollof platter as the main entree was the most disappointing dish. It's listed on the menu at around $20+ for what is essentially a plate of rice, plantains, beans, and arugula salad. You need to order a protein to add on to complete the dish. I decided on the lamb chops which was an additional $22 for 3 pieces. It was okay a bit over cooked. I added on each of their sauces to try. You definitely need at least one to add flavor but I couldn't decide on which one I liked most. The jollof rice was also underwhelming. Texturally it was off for me. It tasted like the rice was undercooked as some of it had this raw chalky texture and the temperature of the rice was barely warm upon arrival. The plantain cake was probably the best thing to be honest. It was surprisingly not too sweet despite it being covered in a thick syrup. I would consider giving them another shot as the flavors seemed to be on point but there were a few things that weren't executed to its potential. read more

Two Hommes is one of those spots you walk into once...and instantly wonder where it's been all your life. Quality African fusion cuisine, made with care, bold flavor, and a whole lot of creativity. Start your meal with the honey berbere chicken bites. Trust me, these are the move. Crispy, saucy, slightly sweet with that berbere kick...they set the tone perfectly. For mains, you can't go wrong with the garlic noodles or the jollof rice with catfish. Both are packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and feel like comfort and innovation in the same bite. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The sweet potato churro is A-1. Warm, crispy, lightly sweet, and totally unique. What I love most is that they're always evolving. The menu stays fresh with new dishes being tested and introduced all the time, so every visit feels like a new experience. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for almost 3 years. I finally got the opportunity. I didn't haven any expectations but man I don't know where to start. I was taken a back by the decor / vibe. Really romantic vibes good music but not too loud and you could actually hold a conversation. They usually suggest a reservation but my party of three was accommodated. By the Director of operations Theodore Greene. We tried almost everything. Some pictured some not because how good it was lol. Our server I can't recall her name (Mo)but recommended their take on the espresso martini man listen! I ended up dining at Two Hommés TWICE during my trip to California! You can't tell me that wasn't God. First visit was for brunch. The space is very clean, quaint, and welcoming. I love that the menu isn't overwhelming but still includes all the brunch staples you'd want. You also have the option to order from the lunch menu during brunch, which offers a little flexibility. I ordered the black bean and egg tostada and added short rib. The portion is on the lighter side, so if you're not looking for something heavy, this is a great choice. The short rib was flavorful and tender, and the presentation was super cute. For appetizers, we ordered the homemade biscuits and the garlic fries. The garlic fries... You smelled the garlic the second they hit the table. So good. But those biscuits.... I talked about those biscuits for two to three days after. Moist, buttery, served with butter and fresh jam. Easily some of the best biscuits I've ever had. I just wish they were a little bigger! We shared this appetizer, but if I was to go back, I'm definitely getting my own order. My friend ordered the garlic noodles with branzino and she loved it. She said it was flavorful and different from what she normally orders. Another friend had the jollof rice with plantain and arugula salad, plus catfish and shrimp. She said the catfish was fried to perfection; golden brown, fresh, nice and meaty. The shrimp was also well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Instead of a traditional mimosa flight, they offer a bottle of champagne with your choice of juice. We chose the pink lemonade, and it was such a fun twist. Service was great, more of a grown & upscale brunch. Overall it was a 10/10 brunch experience. read more

I've been here twice now, once during Sunday Brunch and another time during dinner. I was very pleased both times. The food, service, and ambiance did not disappoint. The servers were friendly and attentive, and were also great with suggestions and questions. During brunch I tried the chicken jollof platter with cilantro sauce, and the Sentinela Sour. The food came out nice & hot and my drink was really cute and refreshing. On my second visit, I truly loved my dinner entree, the root beer braised short rib. My goodness, the flavors were there! I love sweet and savory, so it was a perfect combination of textures and flavors for me. I wish the dish was bigger The day I came in it was tricolored carrots instead of zucchini, and they were cooked perfectly. I also tried the plantain sticky cake, and it was so good. It was smaller than expected, but the taste was rich and delicious. I can't wait to come back and try the burger and churro. Overall experience, 10/10 read more

Hmmm. The food was pretty good not amazing. Service is hard to get because they're so busy. The waitress only checked on us at the end of our meal. The nicest person there was the host. The small quaint restaurant has a nice ambiance. I got the jollof plate with fried catfish. I had to add salt. The meal was missing flavor for me. read more
