You win some, you lose some. I would have been the winner, had I taken the building's recommendation and signed with Direct Plus; however instead, I signed a year contract with Comcast. The pricing was about the same but I was concerned with losing signal during storms... big mistake on my part. As a result of having Comcast, I lost cable and wifi (meaning my service trapped inside of my home during the storm was pretty much nonexistent) BEFORE hurricane Irma even hit, on Thursday at noon. I did not lose power from the storm until Sunday at ten am. So why the hell did I have to go three days prior to the storm, followed by 10 DAYS AFTER THE STORM, before getting cable? That's half of my flipping payment cycle when I did not have cable or wifi. Had this been the other way around, Comcast would have shut down my service. There are numerous people on our block that still do not have Comcast, but never lost power. But here is the kicker, Direct plus customers in our SAME BUILDING NEVER ONCE LOST THEIR CABLE OR WIFI. Additionally, even though Direct Plus service was going strong in our building, Direct Plus's reps came by our building to make sure we had everything we needed after the storm. The service provided by these people is incredible. I have to admit, sometimes I pretend I am a Direct Plus customer, because they bring breakfast including Einstein Bros Bagels to our building before work. And Comcast? Crickets... To whom it may concern, I returned my modem via return receipt via USPS and I just got the receipt back signed "covid-19", I find it extremely untasteful to received mail receipt from a "reputable company" signed that way. Called customer service and Monica the manager said that unfortunately that's probably a security officer and that's the way they have been instructed to signed. According to Monica, "the manager" she doesn't report to no one. I moved into my building January 1st. They informed me that I just get internet access through Direct Plus. I was quoted a price of $55 for 100mbs with a $5 deduction if I signed up with autopay. After signing up I realized I did not have the correct modem. So they charge a $10 fee to rent. No problem, I would just use this one until I got my own next month. I received a bill of $141.83. As stated previously, the quoted price given to me was $55 + $10 - 5 = $60. If they were to prorate January into February's bill. My bill should be $120. I called in to speak to someone about this. MONICA answered the phone. How this woman became a manager is beyond me. First of all, she is disgustingly rude. I told her that I was quoted a certain price and she says to me that that's what I heard, that's not what the price is! After about 30 seconds of going back and fourth I asked to speak to HER supervisor. She proceeds to tell me that she's the manager, as if she hired herself. Then after she realized that I wasn't an idiot, she told me that I could call at 8AM to speak to someone named Chris. Clearly, her and her employees need better training, on 1) Company rates and 2) Customer services. I throughly vetted the agent that signed me up, she gave me wrong information so I could sign up. This company provides monopolistic television and dial-up quality Internet to various apartment buildings in and around Miami-Dade. In a quick wrap up, if you're considering a building/condo that has an illegal agreement/monopoly with Direct Plus and there's no alternative... you might want to move that building/condo to the end of your list. The Internet speeds are typically 5 Mbps down and 0.8 Mbps up. That's pathetically slow. If you use a Smart TV adapter or Apple TV... prepare to do a whole lot of waiting... and waiting... and waiting. Their "website" hardly functions and has no useful information on it. It looks like a Netscape Navigator friendly middle school homepage from the 1990s. There's a section to login and pay your bill... of course, it doesn't work. When it works I'm getting 80/20 speeds. Can't complain about that. However a few weeks back a security update made my router useless. Tech support did a great job explaining what they did and how to fix. Thankfully I know how MAC addresses work so I was able to keep my router. I think the average joe would have been upset because if you dont understand MAC settings or how to change their only suggestion was to buy a linksys router. (Still makes no sense but ok). Well here I am a month later and service has been down for a few days. Tier 2 has not got back to me. I know it's not an issue on my end. Desktop wired to wall still doesn't work. This provider is my only option in my building. I work online so this is a huge issue. I suggest if you have the option don't use them. If you're stuck with them I hope your patient. read more

This is the worst Internet provider with the worst customer service in the world! They advertise and charge their customers for 100mbps but most nights it's not even half a Kbps. What makes it worse is that certain buildings, like the one I live in, have this contract of exclusivity with this ridiculous company and the tenants are stuck with it. According to the letter of service I received when initiating the connection, I am paying for 100M download and 20M upload speeds just for my account. I only have a desktop connected with an ethernet cable, and a tablet and a phone to the wifi, which is practically nothing considering that 100Mbps should be more than enough for 7 devices according to the technician that set it up. It's never been 100Mbps, in the mornings it barely makes it to 60, and once 5pm strikes, it goes down to 12 - 7- Mbps. Right now it is not even 1Mbp. I call their customer service, but they are just an answering service that takes a message for someone to call you back Monday to Friday during office hours. They never call back, and when you dare call the office during office hours for customer and technical support, they are rude and inefficient. It should be illegal for rental buildings to sign contracts of exclusivity with lousy third party providers of basic services like decent Internet, especially now that so much work is done from home. I want to shoot myself every time I remember the fact that I'm forced to use this provider at my apartment building. Their service offerings suck and they can't even deliver on those. On Internet, we have one option... 10mbps/1.5mbps for $45/month. I remember when I could get 24mbps/3mbps for that price with u-verse! And they actually delivered these speeds! One of those pictures posted about the 45 minutes to start a small tv show (on standard resolution) was from my TV and is a regular occurrence. As if that's not bad enough, I lose my Internet connection multiple times per day and technical assistance has a bad attitude as if I don't know what I'm talking about.. I'm 23 I grew up with this technology I know when the problem is your crap modem and not my router. I'm not going to comment on TV service since as far as I'm aware, they just resell DirecTV. I have never experienced this amount of outages with any other company. Their customer service is horrible. They will tell you they're sending someone out and never actually do it. If you care about using the internet in any fashion this company's services are NOT for you. The most unreliable internet connection I've paid for in 10 years of living in south Florida. I pay for 100mbs and rarely ever achieve that. I spend every other week on call with their support team (who continually forward me to the next guy). The internet is spotty and consistently dips as low as 11 down 18 up. Most of the time normal streaming services won't even load properly (YouTube, twitch, cable, gaming platforms, standard videos). At first, I was very skeptical in using this service due to previous poor experiences with local ISP's and the reviews were certainly not confidence-inspiring. However, after 2 months with Direct Plus, I can honestly say that they have provided me with the best experience in dealing with an ISP that I have ever had. For one, while it is a bit pricier than other companies, I can confidently say that I pay for 40 mbs and I consistently get 40 mbs, no slowdown and not a single outage since signing up. That is much better than what I can say for other mainstream providers that I've dealt with. Secondly, while I have only needed to contact customer service a few times (to set up my service and to ask some questions about billing), each encounter has been fantastic. Its refreshing to deal with live personnel who are also personable. They even went out of their way to ask me how my experience with the ISP was thus far and if there were any areas that I thought could see some improvement. Not some questionnaire sent to me by email, but a live person asking me how I felt about their service. My only complaints are: 1) while the service is consistent, I do feel it to be a bit pricey compared to their competitors, and it can feel a little exploitative, at least in my personal situation, as they have a contract with my apartment community and are the only ISP available to me 2) the account/billing website is a bit of a mess and not user-friendly in the least. I had difficulty navigating it, checking my bill, and could not tell if auto-pay was on or not which necessitated a call to customer service. I had a terrible experience because they didn't provide the right information I had 3 techs that went to my house to install services and I had to pay several times because of the confusion! This means that in the home I pay a shit ton to live in, I am stuck with using only them for internet & TV. I can live with the TV service, since it's DirecTV and I was already a DirecTV subscriber, but the internet packages they offer (especially upstream) are no where close to sufficient enough. Our downstream speed is actually ok, from 10-12 mbps, but it's coupled with between .5 and .7 mbps upstream. This is enough for one device to perform with mediocrity. Atrocious. Recently moved to Olivine in Coconut Creek and Direct Plus is the sole internet provider for the area and service is included with the rent. I'm Comptia A+ certified and very tech savy but that does nothing for shoddy infrastructure with I cannot even begin to describe how bad their is. Download speed isn't bad (around 5 to 6 Mbps) but upload speeds are rarely above 0.49 Mbps. Still for an included service that would be fine, if the ping rate wasn't constantly in the 300's. Basic surfing, and downloading single files here and there are OK, but if you need to maintain a steady connection for work or want to stream Netflix or Amazon Prime, you're out of luck. They offer an upgrade package which I took, but that did nothing to solve the ping rates or solid connections so now I'm stuck paying for upgraded service and still can't maintain a connection long enough to work from home without tethering my mobile. I cannot recommend their service or any community that forces you into their service. read more
