Always love Andaz. It is a part of Hyatt and Amex hotel…read morecollection. Located in 5th Avenue across from New York public library, walkable to everything. Area is safe and clean Lobby is pretty small. They checked you in via tablet. Our suite was not ready when we arrived around noon. Hmm. So we dropped our luggage with them. Fyi, the suite is slightly in a different bldg, but still connected. Basically you go to 2nd floor, then go to another elevator to 9th floor, there's only 5 room in that floor. With Amex rewards, normally we receive early check in, late check out, complimentary breakfast for 2 daily [but dining area is in renovation so we ordered from room service, 2 hot drink, 2 cold drink and 2 dishes], and $100 credit can apply for food, bar and their amenities. Ps: complimentary Path Bottle Water, Chocolate and chip inside the room. Also complimentary bottle waters, coffee and tea that you can get in the lobby. Bedroom suite: a king bed and a queen pull out sofa bed in the separate area. Bathroom: the shower power is strong and nice, however, since there is no door on the actual shower, the water sprayed everywhere, and our floor is so wet.

Okay, there's another review for Andaz here and it cracks me up because aside from the lobby poo…read moresmell issue (it smelled fine to us), the rest is spot on, especially the lighting in the bathrooms lmao. It truly is simultaneously dark but harsh as heck, and putting on makeup is a real adventure because who knows what you're gonna look like when you get outside. We wound up here after a last-minute accommodation change and needed a place to stay for 6 nights. The rooms were clean and relatively spacious. We were out from the crack of dawn till bedtime, so we didn't need many amenities or anything too fancy, and the location is very convenient. The bed is on the firmer side, but the pillows were poofy, good enough. My only real complaint is also the showerless doors. They're awful, especially when they install a rain showerhead on the ceiling that cannot be moved, so every shower is like doing your best to keep more water inside the shower than out. The Byredo Eleventh Hour toiletries were nice. Service at check-in was friendly. The island check-in desk just hanging out in the middle of the lobby is weird... and do the staff have to stand next to that thing all day?! It looks so uncomfortable for them. Hotels in Manhattan aren't cheap to begin with, but this Andaz is definitely not one I'd happily pay $800-1k/night for.

Their website shows a physical address in NYC. I was told by an agent that they are 100% digital. I…read moreasked about their address and was told it has now changed. I asked if they have offices there, they said something about only seeing people by appointment. I asked if I could do that, they gave me a number to call. They never answer, always voicemail. They never call back, only email. You are not allowed to view the apartments, nor do they have video viewings. They seem to have the appearance of a respectable company at first, but if you ask for more that emails and for standard photos of the apartments, you might find that they will disappear. The agent I dealt with was very nice at first. She gave me a few links and an application form. The company the application was for has several reviews stating they are reluctant to return security deposits, and they want your card info included in the application. That was not reassuring. If you ask the agent for more reassurance, they might insinuate you're being evasive because you must have dealt with that company before and they rejected you. Absolutely not. This company is evasive and I don't feel they are 100% honest.

The service provided by New York Habitat, and especially by Nick Pugliese, was exceptional. What…read moreparticularly struck me was how attentive and helpful Nick was, even through bumps in the road. There were some hiccups with the timing and location of the apartment I meant to lease, such that I ultimately didn't stay there--Nick worked diligently to secure a new tenant and get me my money back. Between his check-in calls and quick response times, I was extremely impressed by New York Habitat's professionalism, and would recommend them to anyone seeking a short-term rental.

New website with no reviews anywhere, advertised on Craigslist at a below-market rate. I don't know what I was thinking to pay for it with a bank transfer but it wasn't until a couple weeks later I got to thinking that they never did send me directions or door codes or anything and so I tried calling...answering machine only. No response to emails. Then I started really looking at their website. The links to facebook, twitter, etc. are all fakes...they don't go anywhere and the company has no such pages. The person who set me up for the room, the name on the contract and the person whose bank account got the money are all different. And then when I really look at the website--an American didn't write it stupid sentences, etc. Anyway, I am glad I realized it before I arrived in NYC with my family and co-workers. An expensive lesson but I hope others see it. If there is a way to get the website taken down, I will look into it. DO NOT RENT FROM ANYONE RENTING APARTMENTS OUT OF 207 W 36TH STREET OR USING THE NAME MANHATTAN PERFECT STAY. Also watch out for Monica Khuller, John Anderson, Summer Nicolsons.
