Okay, there's another review for Andaz here and it cracks me up because aside from the lobby poo smell issue (it smelled fine to us), the rest is spot on, especially the lighting in the bathrooms lmao. It truly is simultaneously dark but harsh as heck, and putting on makeup is a real adventure because who knows what you're gonna look like when you get outside. We wound up here after a last-minute accommodation change and needed a place to stay for 6 nights. The rooms were clean and relatively spacious. We were out from the crack of dawn till bedtime, so we didn't need many amenities or anything too fancy, and the location is very convenient. The bed is on the firmer side, but the pillows were poofy, good enough. My only real complaint is also the showerless doors. They're awful, especially when they install a rain showerhead on the ceiling that cannot be moved, so every shower is like doing your best to keep more water inside the shower than out. The Byredo Eleventh Hour toiletries were nice. Service at check-in was friendly. The island check-in desk just hanging out in the middle of the lobby is weird... and do the staff have to stand next to that thing all day?! It looks so uncomfortable for them. Hotels in Manhattan aren't cheap to begin with, but this Andaz is definitely not one I'd happily pay $800-1k/night for.

I've always wanted to stay at Andaz 5th Ave, and it was very convenient for all the touristy things we had planned. I redeemed 135,000 + SUA to secure an Andaz Suite for my MIL + teens. I redeemed 100,000 + Cat 1-7 FNA for our King room. We were upgraded to a King City View Deluxe at checkin. Our room faced the NY Library and it was lovely. We had tickets to see Maybe Happy Ending and the Belasco Theatre was a short 10min walk away. Beautiful musical, highly recommend. Daily breakfast at the restaurant was covered for our family of 5 since both hubby and I are Globalist. We loved the complimentary in room snacks and beverages. Hotel also gifted my MIL a bottle or Prosecco for her birthday. My only complaint is the doorless showers. I also wish they had Nespresso machines and Dyson hair dryers in the regular rooms too. The pull down curtain for the bathroom in the Andaz suite was weird, along with the missing door to the toilet in the king room. Very odd design.

I had the most awesome experience here. The staff was very professional and accommodating. I had a couple hiccups and there was no back and forth, they quickly sprung to action and resolved the issue to my satisfaction. From front desk to room service to housekeeping we received a complete white glove service. I had the loft bedroom. Very nice modern and spacious. Room service was very posh with actual plates cloth napkins and spot free silverware; complimentary chocolates and champagne and a personalized note. The food was tasty and plentiful. Lots of photo worthy spots throughout the property. Excellent location between 2 train stations, across from NY public library and shopping and just a short walk from Times Square. My new favorite NY hotel!

I liked this hotel very much. Prices are reasonable considering the location and the lofted ceilings. 12 feet ceilings in New York really make a difference. Try asking for a city view room and you won't be sorry. Unlike some of the other places I have experienced in New York, the service feels curated but not high brow. Globalists are entitled a breakfast which includes room service. I loved the design themes incorporated here including high schoolers painting some of the common area walls. Amenities are also quite nice, a little masculine scented but really made my hair poof up, and with a receding hairline that says a lot. Also, most items in the mini bar are complimentary and they do a nice offering of hot apple cider and complimentary wine. The details here are very thought out, which is not a garauntee at this price point in nyc.

So glad to have picked this place for my weekend stay in NYC. From valet parking to the complimentary wine hour (with very generous pours) and lastly their baseman restaurant with a good size selection for breakfast (had steak and eggs and lobster frittata) what else can you ask for! If you are a Globalist, using points, the valet and breakfast are complimentary! I stayed at one of their Andaz suite. Huge by NYC standards and loved the shower and the free sodas, water, chips and chocolate bar in the refrig (complimentary too). Only comment is that there is no door between living room and bedroom and the bathroom doors takes a getting used too. It's my first time staying at an Andaz property and highly recommend this hotel for a stay in the city!

Sleek and Stylish Minimalistic Midtown Boutique Hotel. State-Of-The-Art System. Amazing Staff. High Ceiling Rooms. Quiet. Great nights rests. Every amenity has its place. Came here 02/07/2023. Andaz 5th Avenue is a upper-end boutique hotel part of Hyatt that is located in Midtown Manhattan. A mixed experience that had some bumps. Hopefully this will be a 5 star review the next time I stay. I am a Globalist so this review will be from that perspective. Points booking. My stay was two parts: Feb 7-9 then Feb 9-11 First part of stay Feb 7-9: The hotel was supposedly very full when I got there (essentially sold out). I arrived quite early around 8-9 AM. I was told by a front desk associate that a room was ready for me, but if I "waited for a bit" then they could get me a nicer room as well as a higher floor. I thought that it wouldn't be too short of a wait, so I accepted. Well, what actually happened is that I had to wait 3-4 hours. I ended up actually getting my keys and checking in to 0815 around 12-1 PM. I was running short on time for lunch plans with my friends and really needed to wash up. As a result of the hot water issue, I actually ended up missing my reservation. To top it off, the room that I was given has no view whatsoever (faces a building) and was clearly showing its wear and tear (dirt and dust on the curtains/shades, scuff marks on walls and trims). I was really disappointed because if I had known that this would happen, I would've just taken the room that was ready at my arrival, I've never had an oversight like no hot water happen before. Unexpected from a Cat 6. Second part of stay Feb 9-11: Much better. Was upgraded to 1 King Andaz Suite (standard suite). Room was what I was expecting and quite large by NYC standards. I think I was put in 1208. On day of check out, I woke up with insane food poisoning. Wasn't sure if I would survive the trip to JFK. I'm not 100% sure if it came from the hotel, but the only thing I ate the day prior was hotel breakfast + Per Se. TL;DR: No hot water on arrival, put in a crappy room as a Globalist. Hotel management is responsive but services misses throughout the stay. Check-in desk doesn't make sense, would rather have a real lobby. Hyatt options are limited at this price point (it's either Andaz at $300-$500 or PHNYC at $700+)

My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVED our stay here while we were in the city in early December. It's located right across the street from the New York Public Library and we were able to easily get to the subway/train station. The staff here were so welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and wonderfully spacious. A nice perk was that the snacks and non-alcoholic drinks in the mini fridge are free and refilled daily. For my fellow beverage goblins: - They serve free wine from 5-8PM daily downstairs. - They also have water (still and sparkling) available downstairs AND they're not in plastic bottles (YAY for environmentally friendly efforts)

My friend and I were around Bryant Park and the library looking for a place to grab an early bite. We came across Andaz, which I think I know of in a different location. The restaurant/bar is downstairs, so it's like descending into a cave. I liked the look and atmosphere of Andaz. The cocktails are a bit high although my friend did get a generously-sized Old Fashioned. I liked that you can order less than a full glass of wine. I wanted a taste, but not a full glass so the 3 oz option is very welcome. The thick fries were excellent. We finished the entire thing. My lamb flat bread was artfully presented and I liked all the different colour and flavours. The pomegranate seeds on top were a nice touch. A great discovery in midtown!

A fantastic hotel located across Bryant Park and the NYC public library. The main entrance and valet parking ($62 overnight with no in and out privileges) is located on 41st street. Service was great. Rooms are so nice and we really loved the bed, huge TV by the bed and the well appointed bathroom. Even the snacks and non-alcoholic drinks in the mini bar is included and they refill it daily. It's a great location- about a ten minute walk to Times Square and Koreatown. Grand Central is only a few blocks away. They also provide coffee in the lobby lounge and a wine social hour at 6 PM daily. A great Hyatt hotel. This one and the Hyatt Centric in Times Square are my favorite Hyatt properties in NYC.

NEW YORK CITY / Midtown: the city is not short of beautiful hotels and we are happy to have found another one for your overnight stay: Andaz 5th Avenue! Elegant glass doors greet you at the entrance and bring you into a modern lobby. Comfortable couches and a library provide a nice area to relax. The rooms look luxurious and dogs are allowed! You may find the pet policy here: https://www.hyatt.com/.../andaz-5th-avenue/nycam/policies The hotel is near NYPL The New York Public Library, Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal, and Times Square, New York City! Brie sees more trips into NYC in the future!

Had a wonderful stay at the Andaz. I'm a globalist and this is my first time staying at an Andaz. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was beautiful and very well maintained. The service was 5 stars. The complimentary non alcoholic drinks 24 hours was amazing and so appreciated. The room was comfortable and bed was very soft (if you like that). The bathroom amenities were also great. There's even a foot wash basin which is great after a day of walking. I get free parking with my status but it would have been $85. It does take 20-30 min for them to retrieve your car but they tell you that at check in to call ahead. You do hear the frequent sirens from the street below (I was on the 10th floor). I would give it 4.5 stars because the valet curb is really hard to get to with the way the one way streets run and the front area on 5th is under construction but other than that once we were in, we had a great stay.

This is my favorite hotel in midtown. Andaz does a great job overall and service-wise, this one is my favorite compared to the other locations. The rooms were great and the little touches like the snacks go a long way but the customer service is what makes this Andaz stand out. The location is fantastic too.

One thing to note: the hotel sits right above a sports bar, so it can get noisy when there's a game on. The gym was a low point. Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast.
