Was with DirecTV for 18 years I cannot believe the things that they have pulled in the last little bit not only with my account but my father's account. They disconnected my father's account for me telling an agent how they were taken advantage of them and making them do the Dirty Work . I then get a letter saying don't worry about paying your next bill or returning equipment we just decided to cut off your service . I guess they did not like that the agent cited with me and gave my father the $80 credit that they tried to overcharge him on a fixed income . Making his bill go from 128.00 to 196.00 for no reason...... I was watching direct TV fantasy zone which is part of NFL sunday ticket at a friends house. I thought that this show as going to be hosted by fantasy experts. half of the show is great and half is awful. Michael Rapaport has no business being on the show at all. They have a doctor on the show that is absolutely fantastic to go with any injuries that happen. Also Jon Hansen "the guru" is incredible. Guru is the highlight of the show. Also the host Kate is not very good at facilitating Guru. If they get another fantasy expert to go with Guru and the Doc then this would be the best gameday thing there is. read more

This is the worst business I have ever dealt with. Whatever I call them for, I spend an average of 45 minutes on the phone. I get transferred at least 5 times, I had to repeat my name and number with every transfer, and nothing gets resolved. I've had a broken TV for 2 years and when I call it's so painful that I just give up. I had an appt for today between 12-4, it's now 5 and they're a no show. We've had DirecTV for over 14 years now. We are beyond pleased with their pricing, package options, customer service and above all else STELLAR RELIABILITY. The only time we ever loose signal is during a power outage. Any time we've had equipment issues (only a handful of times in 14 years) they handled repairs/replacements in a timely, largely hassle free manner. I previously used cable - I will NEVER, EVER go back to cable, nor would I ever suggest that someone go in that direction. DirecTV is the only option for us worth considering. read more

We tried DIRECT TV after 3 days we wanted to cancel to find out they charge a $379 cancellation fee that goes into effect 24 hours after you sign up for the service. The installer failed to mention this. Honestly how many people are going to know if they like/dislike a service within a 24 hour window? Come on seriously it would take you more than 24 hours to learn how their system works. To add insult to injury we tried to cancel it at least 14 times over the next 3 months only finding out we were going to have a service outage for non payment. Eventually we were hit with a balance over $700 when we were trying to get cell phone service through AT&T. Initially they were trying to sell us bundling NEVER DO THAT THROUGH AT&T. Their internet and cable is sub par and way too expensive. If you want to go with DIRECT TV be absolutely sure because you only have 24 hours to undo it. These people are crooks. read more

I cancelled my account in mid-August 2020. Notified them of my new address to send my refund to. I have called more times than I have fingers and talked to the same amount of people. I still don't have my refund. I called Direct TV/AT&T and requested a supervisor call me. They said 5 minutes and I haven't heard a word. I would love my refund. Anyone have advice on how to get my money? This is one of the reasons I will no longer get service from them. If I could give 1 star I would. I recently cancelled my service as I was moving, gave them my new address and moved. They informed me that they would send a box to return my equipment in. It has never arrived as they sent it to my old address. I have spent more than 5 hours cumulatively on the phone trying to get the problem solved, was told to drive 30 miles to a UPS store to return the equipment, upon arrival the store did not exist and had not been a UPS Store for 4 years, yet the rep from Directv gave me the address of the store and told me to take the equipment there. I complained on Facebook and spent another 2 hours on messenger and the phone and once again was promised boxes to my new address, still no boxes. I wrote to the corporate offices and received a call back from them where they were telling me how sorry they were and they were going to take care of the issue. There answer was for me to drive 300 miles back to where I moved from to return the equipment. Now I have been billed several hundred dollars for their non returned equipment, so I have sent them a bill for transportation and storage for the same equipment. ATT/Directv has been uncooperative, rude and downright ignorant about the whole situation. I have driven over 70 miles, unable to return equipment, spent more than 6 hours total communicating with them and all I get is go and drive, spend more of your own money since we haven't hosed you enough, and waste more of your time. While at Costco, I was approached by a DirecTV sales person. Normally I just walk on by but I needed better service. I listened and it all sounded great, I signed the paperwork and made the appointment for installation. On the day of the installation, the installer never showed. I called the company and said this is not good service and I want to cancel. According to Costco contract you are allowed to cancel if their service it's not up to par. I was told everything was cancelled and I owed nothing by the rep on the phone. This has not stopped the harassment by DirecTV. At first it was calls oh, now it's just hard inquiries into my credit. When I call the company they say they are not looking at my credit and my account has been canceled. But I get a bill and hard inquiries into my credit every month. They will not stop. I will never deal with this company again and I cannot get DirectTV to stop messing with my credit. I cannot even judge the quality of their service for the TV because I've never ever owned it. The people you talk to on the phone will tell you what you want to hear and are nice about how they're going to screw you over forever. I absolutely do not recommend this company. read more

No matter where you are in the country, you'll see that ratings for DirecTV are near the bottom and you should avoid them. Also the Federal Trade Commission lists services like these as one of the highest consumer complaints. Among the things we dislike is that they want to charge a monthly fee for "equipment protection" in case the equipment fails or you need service. The cable companies don't have this ridiculous practice. Why should you pay them a protection fee to protect THEIR equipment. You don't own it. On top of that, you have to pay a rental fee. It is a total ripoff. Also note that if you sign up for any premium services, they will give you a 3 month or 6 month discount and at the end of that period, your bill greatly increases. You can't remove those services from your account online. You have to call into the company. They do it that way on purpose because they want to have high pressure sales tactics to get you to keep expensive services. Bottom line is to just stay away from satellite services altogether. All 3 of the major companies are terrible. read more

Stay away from Directv!!! They used to be a respectable company but after acquisition by AT&T they have become dishonest. I had Directv service at the residence I was renting, but when forced to move due to my landlord selling the property, I moved to a location where I was not able to have a satellite dish and could not continue my Directv service. They had initially told me that under such circumstance, there would be no early termination fee, but when it actually happened, they did charge me a heavy early termination fee. I disputed this, but they have refused to honor their agreement. Aside from the failure to honor their word, their service sucks (just like U-verse did). Windy or snowy weather will leave you without tv service. There are so many better options now...Spectrum, Hulu or other online TV services will provide you way better service. Go with Directv after reading this, but know you were warned. read more

Beware of DirecTV ... poor service, terrible product We purchased our home in Tahoe Donner in Nov. 2017. Since we're at over 7,100 feet elevation, there was no Comcast, Suddenlink or other "hardwired" service for TV, phone or Internet up here, so we decided to go with DirecTV for our TV service. They sent a guy out to install a satellite dish. At the time he came out there was no snow on the ground and he installed our dish about eight feet off the ground on our lower back deck. PROBLEM #1: By February there were over twenty feet of snow around our house. The top edge of the DirecTV dish he had installed on the corner of our deck was buried at least eight feet below the surface of the snow. No dish heater was going to solve that problem. I spent many hours digging a trench down to and in front of the dish so that it could "see" the satellite. Now that all the snow has melted, I called their customer support line to see if I could arrange to have someone come out and move the dish much higher up on our house. After holding for literally over an hour, I finally got someone on the line who said they could do it but that they were going to charge me ~$50 to do so. I asked to be escalated to a manager and was put on hold for another 45 minutes. Not surprisingly, when I finally got a manager on the phone, she said there was nothing they could do to wave the fee. So, even though their installer mis-located our dish, they insist on charging me to fix the problem. PROBLEM #2: While talking to customer service I also mentioned that a couple of weeks ago we stopped receiving any CBS owned content/stations on our DirecTV service. Many of the shows we regularly watch are CBS assets. The customer care rep said they were having negotiation difficulties with CBS and suggested I try to get CBS content via other means (Internet, antenna, etc.) No credit or adjustment of any kind was offered. PROBLEM #3: When we signed-up for DirecTV we were led to believe that the service was to be all-inclusive for regular traditional broadcast channels like ABC, NBC, CBS -- plus cable channels like CNN, TBS, Lifetime, etc. -- as well as a comprehensive offering of ON-DEMAND content. NO ONE at any time during these discussions informed us that any on-demand content we might watch, would need to come to us over our Internet connection -- which is NOT provided by DirecTV. We had been led to believe that DirecTV and their dish was to be the source of any on-demand content. Toward the end of our first few weeks of service we noticed that our Internet connection dropped to almost 1995 acoustic-modem-like speeds. We called Hughesnet, our Internet provider at the time, and were told that we had used up our allotted bandwidth. Turns out, DirecTV uses your Internet bandwidth to deliver on-demand. Who knew!? So, with DirecTV we are unable to use any on-demand services because our Internet connection up here is too limited. Our dish is installed too low on our house, so it gets buried in the winter and is unusable. We no longer receive any CBS content and most of the so called channels we get are pay-per-view or advertising only. In summary, I strongly advise against DirecTV. Their offering is crap compared to a world-class provider like Comcast. Their customer service is atrocious. DirecTV, if you're reading this and would like to remedy I'd be happy to hear from you. :-) For now, I'm researching hi-def broadcast antenna and DVR options so that I can terminate DirecTV entirely. Very bad news for anyone buying 4K TV's! Brought home a new 84 inch Samsung 4K TV. Beautiful picture with a curved screen. Upgrades for all equipment and installation Was about 15,000.00 I called Direct TV to add a new upgraded Box. Did not happen. 4K TV is not compatible with old Direct TV Dish or cable. I was told they will not upgrade anything to support 4K at my house and left. I also found out they are not allowed to go on your roof. This is an ATT thing.. who now Owns Direct TV. Bottom line... Direct TV will not upgrade you cable to support 4K. If your dish is on the roof of your home? They will not touch It. Cable looking better every day. read more

We had been with AT&T and Direct TV for 17 years. That relationship ended when we tried to transfer our service in our move to Reno. First, they told us there would be a $49.95 fee to move our equipment...WHAT? They had just told us to un-hook our box and take us with us and then wanted to charge us for transporting THEIR equipment. We told them they should pay US $49.95 for moving their equipment, so they agreed to waive that fee. Our new home wouldn't be ready for 45-60 days and rep told us that she could only schedule for 30 days in advance, so we should call back and then change the date before the end of the first 30 days. When my husband called to re-schedule, that rep argued for 45 minutes with him about re-scheduling and was even trying to "sell" him a package for the time we would be living in a hotel. When that resolved, we thought all would be well. NOPE!!! Still not in our new home (in a hotel) and we receive a bill for the next 30 days. How can that be? Call Direct TV again; another argument with a rep who is trying to justify it. We eventually speak with a supervisor who tells us we are being charged because we had not "suspended" our service. Why did we need to "suspend" when we are disconnected at our former house and do not have service at our new house???? After another lengthy discussion, the supervisor agrees to not charge us for the latest bill. We tell the supervisor this is the worst we have EVER been treated by a company, we are finished with Direct TV and will not be re-connecting service with them. Now we are told that there will be a $300 charge for early termination. What????!!!!!! 17 years at our old address and service has not been connected at our new address - how can they say it's early termination. Another discussion and the supervisor agrees to waive that fee. Not sure who will be our new provider. We liked Direct TV for what was provided on the network and always had good reception. But the terrible customer service and business practices destroyed wanting to have anything to do with Direct TV / AT&T. Direct TV claims "#1 in customer satisfaction"..... not here. read more

Inferior hardware. I got an access card (inserted in cable box) that broke after a few months. I got a new/replacement card that did not work and require a visit from service guy. Cable signals sucks. Besides satellite signals not going through bad weather, I loose TV signals 2 to 4 times a week for a few minutes to hours (on good weather). I called Customer service a few times and felt like it is too hard to get proper adjustment/credit when I don't get TV signal. If AT&T or DIRECTV cannot monitor my TV use or lack of it, a little consideration that I am telling the truth when i say my TV was down yesterday goes a long way. Last month, I completely lost TV signal, I waited 3 days to receive my defective card ($20.00) and waited a few more days for a visit from a service guy ($99.00). Constantly in touch with customer service, I was told that i have to pay $119 for an inferior hardware, which I royally paid for. I found it amusing that with all my customer service call, I was offered for a certain fee warranty for hardware I don't know/care if I owned. Internet service was good after 6 months. Internet use to be interrupted for a few hours, once every month. Recently internet is still slow but not interrupted. When I was deciding which TV service to get last year, I decided to go AT&T/ DIRECTV because I was a long time AT&T customer. I regret that decision and should have gone SPECTRUM which I would recommend to anybody else. Had a tree fall on my satellite dish in February during a series of snow storms that had already left me unable to watch TV because of the dish being buried in snow. 3 weeks later DirectTv comes out for a service call only to tell me that they can't do anything until all the snow melts on that side of the house, likely May. DirectTv refuses to credit my account and stop billing for the time I don't have service. They're telling me they'll credit me back after the problem gets fixed! This finally after 3 phone calls that went absolutely no where. I tried to cancel the service all together and was told I'd have to pay a cancellation fee that they would not waive even though I have no service! Are you kidding me!! read more

We have been DirecTV subscribers for 11 years and have never had such poor customer service as we now experience regularly since AT&T took over. I just spent close to a full hour on the phone with 5 different reps just trying to cancel a service they offered for free for one year that I never wanted in the first place. They insisted that I couldn't cancel it until August then billed me for it in July! Then when trying to cancel after speaking at length with four reps they transferred me to a "specialist" who would not take no for an answer and kept trying to sell me this programming. The Worst customer service. They have no clue what is going on. The automated system is aggravating and not user friendly. The people you talk to do not care about anything but their paycheck and it's obvious! I signed up and canceled before they installed because it was clear they have terrible customer service. BE VERY CAUTIOUS WITH THIS COMPANY. Last year I was quoted a promotional price for service. I was told the promotional price would never go over $40 a month when the first year ended. That agreement was recorded in order to establish service. Next I was told I had to put my charges on a credit card each month to have my promotional pricing! DON'T! This year my service fee DOUBLED. I asked for a copy of my recording and was told it was near impossible to obtain and that I had to maintain my service They would not honor my agreement and told me there was a contract fee of $250 for early termination. I cancelled my automatic payment but was then told the company had the right to put any past due fees on my credit card without my permission. THESE FOLKS ARE "CONTRACT ARTISTS" who scam you in the end. In the Reno area you are much better off with Charter. read more

If I could give Directv/AT&T negative stars, I would. I was with AT&T for over 10 years and directv for 5. In the middle of moving and some other life changes last year, I suspended my directv service. My 6 month suspension ended, and about a month later I received a bill for $140. Not expecting an issue, I called to have the charges removed. I do not dispute I should have taken note of when I would begin to be billed again. But, I figured AT&T /Directv would see that I hadn't used the services I was being billed for, and I'd receive a receive a credit. After spending 1.5 hours on the phone and talking to 3 people, AT&T/Directv offered me a 70.00 credit (half of the charges). I said no thank you and asked for my service to be cancelled. I then was offered a $100 credit and asked if I would stay. I declined. Let me be clear. I like Directv/AT&T. But I will not continue to patronize a company who will not do the right thing for its loyal customers. I doubt it will matter, but I've cancelled, my dad is canceling, and I won't hesitate to share my experience with anyone considering Directv/AT&T. They are horrible! Stay far away! We were customers for 20+ years. Ever since AT&T bought them it has been nothing but price increases and poor quality service. We had a new neighbor move in. When we saw the Direct TV van over there we stopped by to see what was up. When he told us the deal he got we called Direct TV to ask for the same deal. They wouldn't budge. They offered about half the deal of what the new customers are getting. I held my ground. After going back and forth I finally decided that if they couldn't take care of valued customer then I would leave and try my luck with these new streaming services. Here were it gets ugly. They told me when I quit that they would need my receivers back and would send a box with a prepaid label. This was in August 2017. Today it's mid Jan 2019 and I still don't have a box. I have wasted so much of time with them on the phone. Each and every time they say they'll send the box. It's funny how they can send me a bill for the equipment like clockwork but not so much on the box. Now they have sent me to collections. I have an 800+ credit score and am diligent in paying my bills. I even sent a certified letter to them stating all of my issues and they neglected to respond. This is getting ridiculous!
