I have been a dedicated and loyal customer of Dirty Bird for YEARS. They have all the parts you could be looking for with a large selections.But I have noticed a steep decline in their customer service, it's extremely frustrating as I'm interested in keeping my spending local but the staff is making it difficult. There's a lack of urgency, staff will blatantly ignore you (even when it's first come first serve) , the staff act like they are burdened by any questions or inquiries, and they never answer the darn phone. One of the guys who used to help us often Austin was/is always so helpful, friendly, and goes above and beyond. I really don't want to take my business elsewhere but the decline is pushing that direction. read more

Dang, called ahead to confirm they're open, online says they're open Saturday's and if you call, the hotline verifies they're open, however, we arrived to a door that has signage suggesting they're off Sat/Sun. There's a button to ring for assistance, none ever came. Frustrating because we traveled from out of town to visit and we did everything in our power to confirm business hours and we were still met with disappointment. Well Michael, a denial from the DOJ is a far cry from a cancellation--which IMPLIES I cancelled the purchase which obviously I did not...so appropriately, you should charge the DOJ your 25% restocking fee, not me. Completely unexpected and out of my control, especially since the denial by the DOJ is not legitimate. Went to purchase a lower receiver. On the website it showed that it was at a discounted price so I told the employee about the deal. He said there was no deal that was going on. Only reason I went there was because of the deal was going on in the first place, if the deal isn't going on why not just remove it from the website? Ended up still getting the receiver and it took about over an hour to get in for a background check. Rather go to turners next time read more

The positive: the guy doing FFL paperwork is no nonsense and on point with a dead pan personality. Awesome dude. The negative: very confusing customer experience. Every other gun store I've been to in my 38 years of life had employees behind a counter who would acknowledge your presence, ask you questions, show you guns you like, then collect money. Dirty bird said f that. Let's have a wonderful selection of long guns, and great display cases of hand guns with no one at counter. They are all at three registers which you must line up in order to speak to anyone. Once there they will summon you one by one and through pure distain and displeasure converse with you. My purpose for the visit was to do DROS paper work on a Ruger American 308 bolt action I purchased through California Crime Victims Coalition. Never been to dirty bird so when I first got there i was impressed by long gun selection so I browsed the selection. This was during there Labor Day sale and I love shotguns so a cheap maverick 88 with a pistol grip stock caught my eye for f$&k it money. Stood there for 10ish minutes being ignored. Got kinda mad. See guys behind counter in corner just talking.Figured I must be missing some sign on the protocol on how this shop works. Nope nothing. See line of people near register. Get it in line. All people just buying ammo. I'm next in line, get called up by female employee. Really wanted to see the maverick 88, but super confused on how this shop works, hoped employee would provide some help. I was wrong. After approaching register I was met with silence. I waited 5ish seconds after no greeting , I stated my purpose for inconveniencing her, which was the DROS on the rifle. She asked my ID and FSC or CCW. I gave her my ID and PO ID. She stated after seeing that " oh one of the CVC rifles". Went in back and got rifle. Scanned bar code on box then stated total due. Was not offered opportunity to inspect gun. Figured maybe they collect $ then let you inspect and do DROS. WRONG AGAIN! Takes payment, keeps my id and agency id and tells me they will call me. Then calls up next customer. WTF! Okay like on the phone? I'm I supposed to wait somewhere? So find a chair and sit for 20 minutes before I hear my name and then seek out the room it came from. Hoped I'd get to inspect or see rifle but no. Just DROS and ATF form. I absolutely would have purchased that shotgun that day. But after this experience I would avoid, if possible, Dirty Bird. So I guess thanks for not reigniting my love for the shooting sports. read more

Tried to sell a gun of mine and they offered 30% of what it's worth like a pawn shop or something. On top of that, every single time I've ever gone here it seems like the employees are trying to drag their feet. Buying ammo or a gun part could have you waiting in a line of 2-3 people for at least 45 minutes. Great store otherwise, they do have anything and everything you could need. read more

Update 2/5/2022 The owner of the business reached out and apologized for the mixup. He informed me that the staff has undergone trainings to ensure they are following DOJ regulations. I called in a few times asking what they charged for a private party transfer and received the correct response each time ($47.19) Fast forward to today and I went into the shop. As I stated in my original review the employees are all friendly , several offered their assistance as I was looking at the various guns. Syanne was the employee who helped me. I let her know what I was looking for, and she was able to give me a great recommendation for a handgun. She was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions. I was very impressed. I once again asked about the private party transfer fee and without hesitation she was able to give me the correct pricing. I commend Michael the business owner for working diligently to ensure his staff received the necessary trainings and ensuring they are knowledgeable in their dealings. I also really admire the fact that he reached out several times to make things right, that is amazing customer service and in my opinion is what sets a great business apart from big chain companies. I am also happy to report that they also have several flyers posted around the counter showing information on how to purchase a handgun/long gun ( I didn't see the prices for PPTs posted, but I may have missed it. I will keep an eye out for it on a future visit) They also offer discounts for LEO on firearms and ammo , gotta love the support for our officers! Customer service is a 10 out 5. The only reason I am giving it a 4 star instead of 5 is because In my opinion it is missing one thing, a firearm rental. A gun may look good and feel good in the hand, but I like to know how they shoot. They already have a test fire room on site. If they could make it available to the public and offer gun rentals so you can shoot before you buy this place would be 5 stars all day, everyday. P.S. I also would like to see the in stock items on their website. I know with covid the prices must change but I love online browsing. Overall I am very satisfied with today's visit. I went in to get a red dot for my handgun. I saw online they had only one of the model I wanted in stock. When I got there, they did indeed have one. The sticker on the box was priced $75 less than advertised online. The salesman rang me up for the online price without addressing the sticker price, and discreetly scratched the sticker off right in front of me. If he would have honored the sticker price, or explained why he couldn't, that would have been fine. Instead Dirty Bird lost a customer for life. In the last month alone I've spent over $2,000 in that store. I'll never spend another dime with that company. read more

I sold one of my firearms there which I was happy to get rid of, but I have a feeling I'm going to go back to purchase the same type of firearm, different manufacturer, and be a bit happier about that purchase then I was with the one I sold. Brought in a handgun to have the front sight reinstalled. They are busy, so after about a month they looked at it and quoted 960 dollars for the re-silver solder and blue. I will do the work myself at home. They should have gave an estimated quote at drop off. Nothing to inspect, just clean and reinstall, then blue. Instead, I was charged 120 dollars to get my gun back. Even if I decided not to do the silver solder myself, I found sighted barrels online for 44 to 150 dollars. Gunbroker.com has this pistol for around 600 dollars. I'm done at this store. read more

I hate that they don't update their gun prices in stores I bought a snub nose for 430$ roughly and I went home to find out it's on sale on their site for 399$ for the same gun felt like I was robbed seeing that I paid more for it in store . The dude helping me out was great , and their was a long line behind me and there was 3 people talking at the register and not helping anyone else even though their was 5 plus people waiting to check out guns and they still didn't attended to them , I would hate that to me they really need to put there foot down employees are slaking off most of the time and paperwork it's going to take 1 plus hour because they talk for 10 minutes before calling the next name their on the clock not on break read more

This was the worst experience I have had in a gun store and one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. The day I purchased my firearm, I spent 90+ minutes waiting to do my paper work. During my package up day I wasted 2+ hours waiting for the staff to check me out. Both of these days they had multiple staff member standing around doing nothing. I have worked in sale, and at two different gun stores, this is not normal, and is a horrible insult to the customers time. I have gone here a few times over the course of some months to not deal so much with the masses at Turners. I can say without a doubt that it is a great experience if you are getting assistance for whatever reason from Thomas. If he is working that day you decide to go there you'll be taken care of respectfully, and will be patient with you. He is very knowledgeable about firearms, and passionate about sharing information regarding them. Be prepared to get an earful about them, but listen up on it because that's part of conducting good business. He isn't a manager, but he shows the work ethics one should be like when handling customer's. The only reason I am giving a 5 star rating is due to the fact that there are many workers such as him there that I will not get into, and I was taken care of as a customer especially for private party trades.
