I was pleased to see automated text messages confirmed the job and described what to expect. Rino does a great job of blending multiple communication modes seamlessly (Yelp, person's cell, automated text number). This is a rare skill that should not be underestimated. Unfortunate there was an emergency and I had to cancel the job in the middle of the night before the service (see my review on drywall lol). Then the emergency was taken care of sooner than expected, so I contacted Rino again. We rescheduled service for the following day. An arrival window was provided; they arrived promptly. Ali did a walkthrough and we showed him a couple of stains. They began the service. There was a team of two, Ali and Ivan. I got a coupon on Living Social so it was a very cheap -- but totally NOT worth it! On the third try he actually showed up for the first time. Mike Polencia strikes me as a well-meaning guy and for this reason I tried in every way possible to work with him even when his first "cleaning" left my light colored wool carpet with dark brown blotchy stains that were not there beforehand. I let him know about the stains a few days after that and when he finally got back to me, he graciously offered to come out and clean it again. After missing another appointment (he blamed his secretary each time) he showed up apologetically and gladly "cleaned" it again. I noticed that after both cleanings the carpet was wetter than is normally the case with professional carpet cleaners, and that it took an unusually long time to dry: 2-3 days. I later found out this is a major factor in causing staining on wool carpet. Another tip-off should have been when he told me at the first cleaning "Hmm, this is wool isn't it? I'll have to use this bottle here which is higher in acid and meant for wool carpets." After the second cleaning left the brown spots even more noticeable, I called an actual experience knowledgeable carpet cleaning professional. I highly recommend John McGlaughlin (http://www.mclaughlinscarpetcare.com/). John came out and needed to use every trick in his book to recover the carpet to the point where the brown stains were barely visible. This took 2 visits at a total cost of $170. I also noticed that with actual professional level equipment, the carpet is dry by the next day. I informed Mike Polencia of this and asked simply that he refund me the cost of fixing his mistake and that I'd be willing to just let it go at that. After several calls, messages to his secretary, and a final emphatic email he replied with one line: "Ill send a check". A month later and another email, I have heard nothing back from him. I told him that by just refunding the cost to me to repair his damage he could avoid me writing a scathing report here, and to Living Social and to the Better Business Bureau. But he was somehow not motivated to even respond. My only advice is to stay as far as possible from this person. It is not worth it, no matter how cheap.
