I just had 2500 sq. ft. of soiled carpet cleaned by Lakai from Steve's Carpet and it was nothing short of a five star experience. Lakai was courteous, professional and so skilled and knowledgeable about the process and products with a work ethic that I haven't seen in forever. My carpet was pretty soiled, not only from our day to day living but from our two dogs so I was pretty realistic about expectations so when I say I NEVER expected my carpets, stains and all, to look like new, I meant it. With Lakai's incredibly hard work though they ALL look fantastic. Lakai and Steve's Carpet has done it again :). read more

We booked a full cleaning for our moveout (prespray / agitation / soak / steam / vacuum). Afterward, I went in to drop off the keys and noticed that there were extra black marks all over the carpet that were not there before, and had to call to have them schedule another cleaning (which they could not do for another four days). After the second cleaning the black marks were still there and smelled really bad, I called in and they assured me that this was just the extra solvent they put on them, and that they would be gone soon. My landlord then did an inspection the day after and found that all the marks were still there, and that the carpet wasn't close to as clean as he would expect from a professional carpet service. We got billed for having to re-shampoo the entire place. In addition, there was FECES AND URINE in the toilets, which is *COMPLETELY* absurd - the landlord took pics and everything. I called the company and was assured that "they are certain none of their employees would ever do that." They simply stated that someone must have broken in, or that we did it, or that the landlord did it. Absolutely insane. Not only did they do a really bad job on the carpets (to the point that we had to pay to get them redone) but they didn't so much as offer to give any kind of refund after their employees very obviously POOPED in our toilet and left it. Unbelievable. Do not use Steve's Carpet Care. read more

I have a toddler, which sort of automatically means I have a very, very dirty couch and carpets. I called Steve's Carpet Care for my annual cleaning, and I will certainly call them again next year. I was able to schedule an appointment for the day after I called. Mitch, the representative that did my cleaning, was friendly and courteous, but most of all, he was honest and helpful. Looking at the condition of my couches, he told me up front that microfiber is the hardest to clean and, with the level of soil on them, he might not be able to do much for them. It was nice to have someone tell me that I might not want a particular service instead of trying to sell me on something I don't need. I decided to go with it anyway for sanitation purposes, and boy am I glad I did! Like Mitch said, not all of the stains came out, but the ones that are left are small potatoes comparatively. Mitch took his time and worked carefully to remove the old formula and drool, and now my couches look nearly new again. I can't believe how much better they are. The price was reasonable, too. The overall cost was a little high, ($369) but I had a chair, a reclining couch, a huge sectional and a full staircase added in the mix. For what he did, it wasn't expensive at all. The carpet on its own (with 11 stairs and a deep-cleaning treatment) would have been around $150. I will definitely request Mitch next time. read more

I called them on the phone, gave them detail measurements on the rooms (very conservative measurements) needing to be cleaned and got a detailed break-down of the cost which rolled up nicely to the bottom-line cost they quoted (fortunately, I took notes). When the guy showed up today, we reviewed the rooms to be cleaned and quoted me a price that was ~25% higher than the quote I got on the phone. When I told him about the quote over the phone, we started going over his numbers. He was trying to charge me more for certain items, was mis-counting the number of stairs to be cleaned, and was adding in an "extra" cost because he thought a few places "needed some special treatment". We went back-n-forth on this for a while but I made it clear to him that I expected him to honor the phone quote and I wasn't paying them a thin dime more than what I was quoted on the phone. I did finally agree to the "extra cleaning charge of $18 that left us $3 apart in our numbers. I wouldn't budge an inch further and he decided to walk leaving money on the table and leaving me with emptied out rooms needing to be cleaned! This bait-n-switch technique is a HUGE negative - don't let companies pull this trick on you! read more

I used Steve's Carpet Care once before last year sometime - the tech was prompt, nice and did a great job. However, this week when I made a second appointment, the tech showed up 40 minutes late. That I could overlook somewhat. But later that night, I came home to my front door ajar. As in OPEN, all day long and into the dark when I got home at 7p after working all day. As a single female with a child (and a new pet that could have gotten loose but thankfully the little guy stayed put), I was dismayed this had happened. Plainly put, this was unacceptable. That night I called and left the company a phone message about what happened and asked to speak to the owner. Steve did call me back promptly the next day. When we discussed the situation, he was very apologetic, saying that in 35 years of business this had never happened. Steve offered to "yell at the tech for 20 minutes." Then he offered me a free protective coating ($15 value), as well as $20 off my next service with them. When I pointed out that I chose them because they were a local business as well as BBB accredited, and that actually I was hoping that would keep me as a loyal customer by offering my next service (which I was planning next month before the holidays) for free, he balked saying that it "costs me $100 to just send someone to your house" and again offered the $35 off a next service with protective coating. Also, during our phone call, he put me on hold three different times for somewhat long periods of time. That's the best he would offer me and would not budge. I told him thanks but no thanks. Steve said I could call anytime to get that discount and he would honor it if I reminded him. That was the end of the phone call. I love supporting local businesses, but will only spend my money on companies that care about customers. And this was a very weak attempt, in my opinion, to keep a loyal customer and to amend for bad service. read more

Called them on a Tuesday and got an appointment for 1:00 Wednesday. They called me 5 minutes to 1:00 to let me know they where coming. Nate the tech was the best. The carpet in one room was really bad. He suggested a $18 extra for spot cleaning. It was worth every penny. I am surprised Steve's carpet care does not have 5/5 stars along with their competitors here in Boulder. I worked with Nate and Reed and was more than happy. They called before their appointment window even started, which was a first for me. They were professional, kind and most importantly did a great job cleaning the carpets! They are the cheapest service here in Boulder and the easiest to schedule with. My 3rd story apartment was quoted by Chem Dry and Precision carpet at $195, while Steve's carpet got me cleaned (with the same equipment) for $78! Definitely would recommend their service! This was the worst carpet cleaning experience. After reminding me several times that they would be there "first thing" at 9 a.m., Mitch, the tech, showed up 45 minutes late and Steve showed up after that. That was the least of it. They were hired to move furniture as well as clean two rooms. When they arrived, they forgot the "movers" (that are placed under the furniture to allow it to slide) and one of the two fans they promised to bring. When I asked them to get these things, they said these things were in the other van and it was too much trouble to get them. When they returned to move the furniture back into the room later that day, they were were in a hurry and clearly just wanted to leave. Mitch made it clear that he just wanted to get home. There was so much lack of care and concern. They kept walking on the newly cleaned white carpet with their street shoes. I asked them to put on booties but they said they did not have any and they have the cleanest shoes in Boulder. I gave one of the two techs a pair of my booties but it was too late. They had already marked up the carpet. They could not move the things back into the other room because it was still wet - hence no fan. It was Saturday so they said they would come back to move the rest on Monday. They did not. There is more. They scratched my hard wood floor with my armour (sp) - no movers - and damaged the hinge, broke my wood platform bed frame and chipped paint on a wall and piece of furniture. Steve said he would come back to repair the floor. I finally got him on the phone the next day and he said he would not come back to re-do the areas they soiled or an ink stain they worsened. As I was trying to negotiate with him about this and the floor, he took a call from his sister and never called me back even though he said he would. He did not return my call the next day. In fact, three area rugs - that he was supposed to take away and clean, were left outside my front door on Monday. He did not even knock. They were not cleaned. Overall, the carpets were barely improved. In fact, a blue ink stain (on white carpet) was made six times larger. Steve said he could not help it if it bled and if I wanted him to get it out it would cost me $80-$100. He refused to absorb that cost. He did not tell me this might happen. Steve never accepted payment from me - a true admission of guilt for the damage he did to my floors and the poor job he did on the carpets. I never heard from him again. Steve made many promises when he bid the job yet came through with very little. He refers often to his 36 years in business but so what? I wonder what he means by "satisfaction guaranteed?" read more

He had guaranteed me that he had moved the furniture, cleaned underneath it, moved it back. The corner he missed is the first one people can see upon entering the front door, so I'm surprised Steve's Carpet Care missed this corner. Had my carpets cleaned this weekend, and the entire experience was positive. I called Steve's because of a coupon I received in the mail, but also got quotes from about 4 different cleaners, including some that were highly recommended on Yelp. Steve's was the most competitive, though not by far in some cases. The lady that booked the appointment was professional, they sent text updates the morning of the appointment, and the service rep showed up right on time. Nate was very courteous, professional, and didn't try to sell me up into more expensive options. In fact, after viewing the room arrangement he actually lowered the price some from the original quote. He completed the work quickly and efficiently, and it looks great. Nate also did a good job explaining how to care for the carpet over the next couple days - explaining that I shouldn't vacuum until 2-3 days afterwards because any residual moisture in the carpet can pick up dirt from the vacuum and cause streaking. Something I'd never been told by previous cleaners. Overall, a great job and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. FYI, I don't give 5 stars easily. read more

We were Steve''s Carpet Care repeat customers BUT we WON'T be amy more. We scheduled the carpet and vents cleaning for 2 properties. We called ahead and confirmed the "SUMMER SAVINGS SPECTACULAR!" pricing on the coupon, expired 8/15/11. The total came out to be about $200.00 more, because the price on the coupon is lower than the actual price. We showed them the coupon, but the team manager claimed the price on the coupon was a mistake and refused to honored as advertised. We had to negotiate hard to reduce about $100.00. We also tried to work with the owner but not helpful. Although they claimed that their team had done special scrubbing that was not on the ticket, it's hard to see this type of extra value. They also left the debris in almost every room after they left. We can't trust their ad nor their work any more. read more

I can't even give this company a one-star rating. I set up an appointment to have my carpets cleaned and was told that they would arrive within a two-hour window. Well that two-hour window came and went so I called them. I was told that their "last job ran over because of a flood" and that the crew was on its way to my condo. The crew never showed up and I never even received a phone call to explain, cancel, or just reschedule. A total waste of my time. I don't ask much, just for some simple communication, which never even happened. DO not use this company. read more

We've used Steve's twice now and will continue to do so whenever the opportunity presents. Being a customer service professional, I can lean toward being hypercritical in this area at times. Steve's service doesn't just fail to disappoint, it absolutely THRILLS! I felt very well taken care of on our latest call to them after our very playful and lovable pooch found a not-so-loving and very stinky playmate in our backyard (a skunk). Of course poochy ran in the house in an instant and proceeded to wipe off on the carpet before we could catch him. Steve's got there as early as possible the next day and rescued us. So very grateful to them. Bonus PSA of the day: For those unaware, up close and personal skunk smell is quite different than the off-in-the-distance smell. If you smell a strong burning odor from a pet acting quite anxious, it might be skunk! Thanks again for the fast assist Steve's! read more

I have used Steve's Carpet Care many times and have always been extremely happy with their service. Today's experience was different. "Jeff" was not the nicest person. He wanted to charge me for 2 rooms that was actually one. I said that I had never been charged for 2 before. He said "That's the way it will be done from now on." I can understand if a room is large to charge for 2 but this room wasn't large and most of it was stone flooring. I should have told him to go at that point. I told him I needed to keep the costs down this time and so he proceeded to try upsell me. He suggested power scrubbing for an area in my family room for $18. I had never done that for this area and it came out clean before so I didn't do it. My carpets were in better shape for this cleaning than previous ones so I thought it would be fine.This guy was out of here in record time. I don't know how he picked up any dirt he was moving the hose so fast. My carpet is now soaked and looks just as bad as before he came. I am not exaggerating! Simple dirt didn't come out. The power scrubbing on my stairs did nothing and he missed the sides next to the walls all together. I didn't see how bad a job he did until he left and the carpet started drying. I called to complain but 3 hours later and still no response. He did tell me that things would be done differently now that he was taking over the business from Steve. Too bad. Steve had a good thing going. By the way, the previous reviewer talked about Mitch being great. Mitch came here once too and he was GREAT! I will now get on my hands and knees and try to clean my carpet. Follow up - They sent someone else to come and fix the job the previous guy did. This guy did a very good job and was very nice. Booked an appointment with Steve's Carpet Care. Spent three hours at my business moving furniture before their arrival. Phone rang 15 minutes past their agreed upon time. Steve proceeded to cancel the appointment, stating that "it was too cold" outside for his trucks. Yes, a very cold morning. Proceeded to call other carpet cleaning companies to see who could come out. Everyone was booked, and operating normally, telling me the weather had nothing to do with my cancelled booking, probably an excuse for Steve to take a more lucrative job. I had multiple companies tell me the same thing, with Steve being known for this type of behavior. Too bad I didn't know this before. All the furniture was already moved, so I had to go and rent a store carpet cleaner before my business opened a few hours later, re-scheduling meetings and losing valuable time. Not happy and Steve's Carpet Cleaning is not recommended. read more
