Poor communication. Waited from Wednesday July 3 to Monday July 7 to get someone to even look at my dryer. Lady representative told me it was July 4th multiple times and no other reason given. I waited. On Monday it could not be repaired. I was told about a burnt cord, and the service man told me someone would call me tonight, Monday and be out on Tuesday. He told me he had to go back to the shop for parts. Noone called and no one showed up. I waited around both days for an update. I waited till Wednesday July 9. After no call from Discount Appliance on Wednesday I went and bought a new dryer. Thursday morning at 8am, now Discount Appliance calls. I told them to forget it as with no communication I went and purchased a new dryer. No explanation given or follow-up as to wait time. Jim the owner called and accused me of panicking. He told me someone called on Wednesday and I did not pick up. I did not receive any calls from discount appliance. Also, no messages were left for me. It's all about the communication. Jim was not nice and made me feel I was in the wrong. His answers to me were not nice. I felt I was being attacked and he would not listen to me. He told me he has good reviews. All it takes is clear communication. Customers need to know even if there is a wait time. I I still paid a $95 service fee and told him I would not use his service anymore. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I called for service on my Maytag washer. They sent a technician who had never worked on Maytag washers and didn't know the meaning of the error code. I offered to find the error code meaning online, but he refused. He installed a new actuator but didn't clear the error code. When the machine still didn't run, he removed the new actuator and re-installed the one from my machine and left, promising to research the codes and get back to me. Meanwhile my washer doesn't even do as much as it did before he touched it, and after four days he still has not gotten back to me, even though I texted him the meaning of the error code. At least he didn't charge me! read more

My fridge broke suddenly, and Discount Appliance had great reviews on google, so I called them to come take a look, after a small snag with scheduling, the owner (I think his name is Jim) came out, knew exactly what went bad and had the part with him, and had my fridge working again within 30 minutes. I highly recommend this company. I called them late afternoon thanksgiving because my refrigerator stopped cooling. James called me early the next day and came by within the 3 hours. When I called for an appointment and cost, I was told by the owner's wife that James' diagnostic fee was $85 which would be applied to the cost of repair. Well, he found the problem with my dishwasher to be a clogged drain hose within 15 minutes. He replaced the hose, checked for leaks, then replaced the dishwasher. The total time from start to finish was about a half hour. The charge was $175!!! If the diagnostic charge was really $85 and the final bill was $175 (including the hose which I can buy for $12) then there was somehow an additional $78 charge for what?? The diagnostic fee is clearly a hoax, this was an easy job and should have been the minimum fee plus the hose, $97. The only plus was he showed when scheduled. I would not hire him again without having a firm price discussion. read more

I called Jim because our dryer was leaking water. He was here 10 minutes at most. Jim stated the problem was that my dryer vent needed to be cleaned. I paid to have someone clean the vents. They were not dirty and not the reason for the water leaking from my dryer and the improper drying. The vent going from my dryer to the wall was very long and twisted. I asked Jim if that was the problem when he was at my house. He said absolutely not. I cut down the interior dryer vent after the vent cleaner left and it fixed my problem. I paid $80 to have Jim come out and give me the wrong advice. He also caused me to waste over $100 to unnecessarily clean my dryer vent in addition to his service fee. read more

It has been years since I have had a great experience working with professionals. Today we had our refrigerator freezer serviced by Discount Appliance Service. Jim came out and immediately went to work, and I watched as he methodically dismantled my freezer compartment, remove the damaged area, cleaned everything meticulously restored all the components and had it working like it was brand new. His professionalism, and his personality , we felt like we were revisiting old time work ethics. I called Jim of Discount Appliance on a Thursday afternoon after the 4th of July. My dishwasher door wouldn't shut and this was going on for over 2 months. I had called several area repair services as well as Maytag and NOT ONE OF THEM conducted themselves in any type of professional manner whatsoever. They did not call back or they wanted a large amount of money just to walk in the house. After having one service here twice in one week and I was told my dishwasher was hopeless, Jim called and he was at my house within 2 hours, in the next 45 minutes the problem was solved and the price was very very reasonable.
