While growing up, my family belonged to several swim clubs over the years (and I have visited many others for parties and other things) and none come close to CGPA. Here's what makes CGPA great: Amazing Staff - This pool is well-maintained and well-run. Diving Board and Slide - Need I say more? Outside Food and Beverage (including alcohol) allowed in the pool area. Great Events and Kids Activities - Labor Day Party and Fireworks, Campout, Candy Bar Bingo, Dads Cannon Ball Contest, Swim Lessons, Water Aerobics Snack Bar prices are basically at-cost. The only thing about CGPA that could be improved is the pool stairs. They're not built-in and can be a bit difficult for swimmers with mobility issues. I'd love to see permanent stairs be added to the pool and perhaps one of those lifts that are becoming more and more common at pools.

In my opinion, their cardio is great and the weight machines, which were updated last year, are also very good. I like the quiet, non-assuming atmosphere. For the most part, patrons keep to themselves and that is fine. The gym is basically clean and they provide wipes to clean the machines after using them. I like that. The reason for the lower rating is that for all the years I have been a member, there are but a handful of, actual, friendly staff members. A few great ones that go back a long way, but for the most part, the staff is not welcoming or at all personable. So, do not join for the customer service, just come for the good equipment and cleanliness. And one big thing is that during the summer, the ac is never adequate! Adding ceiling fans would be a welcome addition to the workout facility!

OK this takes some explaining.....If you have ever driven on 696 by Orchard Lake Road there is a walking bridge that goes over the freeway. That now new bridge connects Harrison High Shcool and The Swim Club. The club is secluded in the back of the Kimberley Subdivision behind the elementary school. One nice thing this club does in June is they sponsor the Make-A-Wish Foundation http://www.wish.org/ charity where they have an open club during the day long event and have a bbq, and a silent auction to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There are quite a few things to do at this club. They have tennis for people of all ages. They have a tennis team that plays against other clubs. There is and adult tennis tournament. They have a swim team that competes in the NSSL swim league against other swim clubs. They have social events, like kids day,adult night, pancake breakfast, family picnic. You may even choose to lay on the lounge chairs and just catch a few rays. This is a private club, but if you are interested call the membership person and get a one day pass and check it out. It's a nice way to spend your summer. The members are friendly. It's worth a one day pass.

The spa definitely needs a makeover. The tech, Phyllis, not only is a nail tech but has a background in podiatry. She is such a sweetie! The LifeTime staff, are very kind, informative and helpful. I hear them call members by name, they stop and chat with you. The instructors actually speak with you when you are new to a class or an event. You can ask questions and talk to them about anything. So far, since this is new I've taken the Arora yoga classes and the instructors are FABULOUS! There are classes for all physical capabilities with zero judgement on what you can or can't do. So far, the facilities used have been clean, in working order and good to go. There is plenty of parking for handicapped, motorcycles and other vehicles in both sides of the building. There is a small cafeteria with a nice selection of beverages, food, snacks and workout clothes. It is immaculately kept. I am not a fan of dressing and undressing in front of all, but that's the way it is. Not a fan. There is shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers. The sinks have feminine products, mouthwash, soap, lotion, shaving cream, deodorant, hair spray and hair dryers. If clients would stop taking products, there would be more than one like today. There is a eucalyptus steam room in the lockers, that was an experience, so good. There is a sauna, whirlpool, cold plunge, lap pool, indoor and outdoor pool. This place is family friendly. If you have children, look into their camps and facilities. The staff was very interactive and patient with the little lifers. You must try the hydro massage chair, there should be 5! It's wonderful, oh my goodness. All in all there is something for everyone at the one stop. And the personal training area is twice the size of my "home" gym. There is also plenty of free parking. In addition, I was greeted on my visit by Andy, the general manager who was very pleasant and accommodating. Love when a chain over delivers on my expectations. I only wish the LA Fitness I go to in Fort Lauderdale was half as nice as this one!
