I thought that our Ram 2500 had a cooling system problem. The heater would only blow warm, never hot. After checking the system, at no cost, they told me that the system was good. That's all they can do. I will have to take it to a heater specialist. If/when I have a cooling problem with any of our cars we will take it to Discount Radiator Center! read more

About 7 years ago, I changed my truck radiator, myself. I've worked on my own cars over the years, so that's not a problem. In my Installation, I found I needed a different type of fitting for one of the transmission cooling line connectors. Late, on a Friday afternoon, I called several shops, none had the parts. I called them up, and asked for those parts ......he said, "I close for the weekend in 20 minutes, can you get here before I close?" I said, "Sure!" Got there with 5 minutes to spare.....he was finishing up another customer, and I noticed he had his truck loaded up, and his fishing boat, ready to head out. He started looking for the parts .......and looking ....... he knew he had them, and didn't want to delay me.......he had 2 used fittings. He kept looking......and finally found them! I knew he wanted to get out of there......... but he didn't want me without my truck, until Monday. I was getting out my wallet to pay him, and he told me to forget it, he wouldn't take my money! "Go fix your truck......I'm going fishing!" Such a nice guy! All he said was, "Remember me, next time you need radiator work". I'll be by his shop on Monday! Truly an excellent businessman! Over the years, I have had multiple radiators replaced in multiple vehicles. Today, radiators are made primarily out of plastic, they do not last very long. The owner of this business does his best provide high-quality product, including OEM or factory-recommended radiators whenever possible. Sometimes, they are at a higher price, but they are also the higher quality. He also knows which radiators have the highest bad track record, so he will recommend what's best for the customer. He does quality work, has great employees, and a long-standing business history in Bakersfield. I trust him! read more

I thought I needed a new radiator, but when I called I was told they could probably update my radiator for about half the cost of a new one if there was damage. When I took it in, the guy helping me (assuming he is the owner) looked over my radiator carefully, said it was in great shape. He pressure tested it and cleaned in for FREE. Additionally, he gave me some great advice and tips about reinstalling and making sure it was bled correctly. Horrible service: Arrived Friday afternoon. Owner had gone fishing. Elderly technician observed that in addition to radiator leak, my thermostat cover showed signs of leaking. Young woman in office quoted both. Then she called supplier. She told them: "I am not ordering them, I am just letting you know that I may need them." She then gave me a quote for both. I agreed & scheduled appt. for Monday 8am. Arrived Monday, but she hadn't ordered the parts. So, had to come back Tuesday. At end of day Tuesday, presented with bill. The supplier had sent wrong thermostat cover, so they determined the old one was OK, & reinstalled it along with a new thermostat. They charged me $100 for a thermostat that I didn't want or need! I would never go into that inept place again, or recommend it. read more

My truck was overheating even after having work done on my clogged radiator and installing a new thermostat it was still overheating. We suspected the transmission but before I left he ran all possible tests to rule out everything free of charge before going to a transmission shop and I am grateful for that!!! Had a radiator problem with my 80 CJ-7. Bottom hose connector had broken off. I brought it in, thinking I was going to need to buy a new radiator. The owner assured me the radiator I had was in great shape. They brazed on a new hose connector, steamed it, and painted it and had it back to me in under 4 hours, for $55! This place is great, I went there for a leak in my explorer radiator, the owner was very friendly he pressure tested my radiator and head gaskets for free,gave me a free diagnostic check and estimate,it only totaled $220 to repair the radiator. Prior to going there I had went to one of the shops by DMV, they charged me a $139 to diagnose it and gave me a estimate of $1,750 to repair it... I explained that I was on Social Security and a single mom and they did their best to help me the most economically way they could. I noticed a burning/hot smell coming from my car. After opening the hood I could see radiator fluid being spit all over the engine. I called Randy, the owner, he was so helpful. He gave me all of the information regarding the process, warranty for the radiator itself and the parts and repair warranty. He went out of his way to explain how the hot fluids could be damaging plastic parts under the hood which made me realize I shouldn't put the issue off any longer. Never did I feel like he was trying to sell me any services. I took my car to him at 11am, I knew I should've been there earlier but he still made sure my car would be done in 4-5 hours. Randy even had one of his drivers give me a ride home and back to the shop when my car was done so I didn't have to walk the 1.6 miles in 100+ degree weather. They were both friendly, personable and just nice guys. My car is all fixed and I'm 100% happy with my experience. My total out of pocket even came to a little less than quoted.
