I cannot express how amazing Discount Tire is! We've used them for years and will never go anywhere else for tires and wheels for all of the vehicles in our family. Recently, we had to get new tires for our Chevy Silverado and we initially entered all of our truck info online but since we had more questions about the tires decided to just go in and ask. This team at the Clive location is great! They took the time to explain the benefits of certain tires, cost compared a few brands, and listened to what we wanted. We made an appointment for service since the tires weren't in stock. They gave us an ETA on the arrival and we scheduled service accordingly. Day of service, they told us how long it would take and it finished earlier than quoted. They were busy too so we weren't expecting that. They sent updates on what the status of our service was so we knew what to expect. Some people leave while their service is being done but we stayed. Lobby area is spacious, lots of outlets to use to plug in your phone/lap top, and location is clean. Tip: plan ahead and expect a wait, especially during the winter months. All 3 employees I interacted with today were absolutely wonderful to talk to, very friendly, courteous, and professional. I would've made an appointment ahead of time, but my car was not drivable and required towing, and I wasn't sure when the tow truck would arrive in order to request a specific time slot. I called ahead and asked if that was okay to pop in whenever I could get it towed there. They said it was completely fine, and that they do accept walk-ins, and as long as I got there before closing they'd gladly help me out as soon as possible. I believe I was in and out of the shop in around 40 minutes altogether. The shop was very busy, each service bay was full when I arrived, but the wait was very short for how busy they were. Once my car got into a service bay it only took around 20 minutes for all 4 tires to be removed and replaced. I was actually surprised with how fast the service was completed. I was not expecting to be in and out that quickly, especially as a walk-in. I was given many different options on tire selection, and was told my tires were guaranteed, up to a certain mileage, my satisfaction, and to come back within that timeframe if I'm ever unhappy and they'll correct it for me which was great to hear. Stopped in to have my wheels retorqued after forgetting my torque wrench 400 miles after rotating the tires, and on vacation. Talked to a shop manager in the garage, never even went into the sales store. Let this be a WARNING - I have a slow leak in one tire. I know this because it had a low pressure warning and I added air two weeks ago and yesterday the same tire was low again. I am not an inexperienced car owner but just moved here two weeks ago. I chose Discount Tire because of the close proximity to my home and because of the good reviews. HA!! Before my car was even pulled inside to be looked at, the service tech told my husband it needed all four tires replaced AND that one was unsafe to drive. He really shouldn't leave without it being repaired. FYI - I drive a 2023 Honda still covered by factory warranty that has had all the regular maintenance done by the dealer in my previous state. I have purchased several sets of tires here and have been happy with my service up until my most recent tire rotation. The tech found one of the lug stems was stripped and couldn't finish the rotation. They gave me a 10% discount coupon and referred me to another tire service to have it fixed as they don't do stem repairs. When I took it there they said 3 stems were stripped and was going to cost $300 to repair. I asked how they were stripped and they said whoever did my last rotation was probably in a hurry. A few weeks back I paid for a set of 4 Toyo Open Country ATIII tires. I went today to get them installed. A few hours later I noticed they have installed ATII instead of ATIII tires. When I called, I was told that somehow they had informed me these ATIII were on backorder. This is FALSE. They quietly changed my invoice (see attached) today and never provided a refund. I did sell my old tires and wheels today. They say they will try to get me the tires I paid for or offered me to get 35 inch KO2s "but they may rub". I am disappointed that people at this location have no integrity. They knew they had the wrong tires, otherwise, they wouldn't have charged me the cost of those ATIIIs while changing the invoice and not saying anything. He also said the difference in cost per tire is "only $8". This again is false. The difference is $12. Again, the difference has not been refunded. I wonder how many customers are defrauded like this at this location. I will update this review if they fix it and make it right. I had to get new tires last year and I got quotes from multiple people. They were able to beat all the other places in the metro area. Agree with most of the reviews, staff is knowledgeable, and price drives everything...that being said you get what you pay for when it comes to service work. In hindsight wish I would have paid the extra money and went to a place that respected my vehicle. After paying for my tires the cashier handed me back my key fob that was covered in grease, then when I walk out to my vehicle there's a greasy hand print on my exterior door handle, I open my door my interior door handle/controls are covered in grease, my shifter/steering wheel are completely gross and covered in grease, and my seat is disgusting. Went back into the store to question why my vehicle had been so poorly cared for while at there store, associate came to look at my vehicle said they were going to talk to there manager, came back and told me I could drive my vehicle across the street to get a car wash, bring my receipt back, and they'd reimburse me. No one apologized to me for there poor service and basically acted as if I was over reacting. Then as I'm leaving I notice a technician holding a key fob above her head with dirty hands looking for the next vehicle to service, she finds the vehicle, says out loud what a nice vehicle it is, and proceeds to treat that vehicle just as poorly as mine was treated. Understand working for a living as I do too but the lack of regard and respect for peoples vehicles is complete bs at this shop...buyer beware if you have any type of stand for your vehicle they do not at this shop. We were traveling a long distance to visit a very ill family member and the forecast was 90-100% rain the duration of our travel route. We quickly discovered that the tires on our "new to us" vehicle were not up to the task of shedding water effectively. As we hydroplaned down the highway we knew our nerve wracking situation was also potentially very dangerous. We decided to look for a Discount Tire store on our route and found the one in Clive. We called ahead to see if they had the tires we needed in stock and if they could help us as soon as we got there. They did just that! As soon as we got there they took our car in and had 3 guys working on it - despite an obvious demand by walk-ins, calls and scheduled appointments making the wait time up to three hours. We were back on the road within 30 minutes which was a relief considering our time sensitive visit! Customer service was great for fixing a screw-up. Original staff member gave me wrong information about a rebate (costing me $100), entered the wrong model into the computer (Camry vs. Corolla), and put on the wrong tire size (they were wrong for Camry as well as Corolla). When I called back after discovering the problems, the new staff member was quick to replace my rebate for with one for $50 and refunded me the other $50 right then and there; they were also quick to have me come in so they could exchange the tires. Lastly, because I had been traveling from Minnesota, they arranged for the exchange at my local Discount Tire store. Fabulous, speedy problem-solving! I'm sure because it was my wife and not myself today but they told my wife that her front tires had little tred while the backs tires were fine. After they convinced her she needed to change both tires she took the old tires to a different place and they showed her how to check tred and the tires didn't need to be changed and had the exact same tred as the back tires. Replacing tires is in my top ten of things I hate to do. They're expensive, but necessary and as a female, I always feel like I'm getting screwed any time I go to any auto store or repair shop. Thankfully, Discount Tires made me comfortable shelling out a few Ben Franklin for tires to keep me safe in the road. Their service sets the standard for being knowledgeable, kind and courteous. While there was a bit of a push to sell four tires instead of one, they were able to convince me by stating and showing the facts instead of the traditional up sell. I was on a mission to replace one tire due to a big fat hole in it but ended up driving off with four new tires because they were able to support the need for them. When Carl showed me that I was driving on tires that basically had steel ready to rip another hole in the rubber and stressed concern for safety, I quickly agreed to it.
