Short version: Good place. Use them. Long version: I thought I'd already reviewed these guys at least a year ago. We had just moved from Texas, were living a hotel until our house was closed on, and no matter how well behaved kids are that is extremely stressful. Then, on top of it all, the van needed the oil changed and had A Noise. It was still halfway packed with road stuff for six kids, three cats and two adults of questionable sanity. So I go in, my last nerve so frayed so I am speaking in monosyllables, I haven't slept properly for a week and I'm packing a very needy baby and not only are we clearly from out of town, we're from the far side of the country. The guy at the counter took care of us like I was a long lost cousin. Pointed out some possible issues that would be way in the future, assured me that Noise was not something horrible, double checked that I understood we were doing something or other earlier than it really needed. (some kind of a filter, I think? Like I said, I was *OUT* of it) Generally acted like I was a regular, dependable customer. Not somebody who appeared to be on a long and very much unenjoyable road trip. Man were they surprised when I showed back up in a few months with Iowa plates. We've been taking our cars to them ever since, and I really appreciate how they'll actually explain things if you show the slightest interest. The attached picture is when I took my husband's commuter car in because the fan was making "a funny noise." (Also give really good advice that prevents serious issues in the future.) How good are they? When my parents were visiting and had A Noise in their big old pickup, this is where I sent them. If they'd done anything wrong, I'd be hearing about it every single holiday and family reunion until the end-times. read more

I just did not have a good experience with this business. On the hottest week we have had this summer, my air conditioning decided to stop working. I chose this place because I had seen it had decent reviews.I called called and the guy on the phone said they were able to get my truck for service in two days. When I arrived, the guy at the front was snarky and made a comment that I was 3 hours late and they were not going to be able to look at it today. I explained that there must have been a mix-up as I was told 11:00 and they had me down for 8:00. But I said no problem, and told them I would come in for whatever they had available next week. So I came back and they looked at it and told me my AC accumulator would need replaced and they had everything torn apart they would just need to go get the part and they would have it done in a few hours. The manager showed me the estimate which I felt was pretty high. The total for everything was $446.64 and that was to replace the broken part and charge air. I specifically asked him why the part was $114.54 and the labor was $73.50 to install just that part when the part alone is at a part store for $40. And yes, I am aware that there is a bit of a markup on parts but this is the highest markup I have ever seen. He had stated that they have to pay that price for the part and that it is always more than what you can get at a part store which of course I had already acknowledged, but almost three times more I felt is very high. I don't know if this is normal or if it is because I am a woman and they just assumed that they could tell me a price and I would pay it. I told them I was not going to go ahead with the service and I left. I ended up calling Heartland Tire and Auto down the road and they took great care of me and they charged me $163.36 less! If I could give this place 0 stars I certainly would. Never had a single issue with my car in the 8 years I owned it, took it into Tuffy's for an oil change as it was just up the street and seemed convenient enough. Worst mistake I could have made. They overfilled the oil which caused my car to smoke and break down on the side of the interstate 3 days later. We contacted Tuffy's and their corporate office to resolve the issue but could never get a response and when we finally did they refused to take responsibility. All in all after this my car was worth nothing unless I bought a new engine. I ended up having to purchase a new car and all I could do was sell my old car for parts which very little came of. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR. read more

We just had our spark plugs, throttle body, ignition coil, gasket cover, and headlights fixed. This is the second time we have brought the Elantra here in a few weeks; completely unrelated. We have done our tires and maintenance here in the past. We bring it back because Brandon is so kind. He works with both my wife and I, goes out of his way to explain things to us and save us money, and exhausts all options to meet and exceed our expectations. I highly recommend you deal with this business because of their character. They are people of their word. read more

I have have brought my car here for oil changes and it's fine though they always tell me I Need extra things. The first time they told me I needed front brakes so I had them do it which I now regret. I recently went in for another oil change where they told me I needed rear brake pads, roters and calipers. My car only has 46k miles on it. They quoted me $800 and that was after they found calipers for a more reasonable price. Thank god I took my car somewhere else to get a second opinion. I only need brake pads. They also told me I needed new tires, which I did but I got them at discount tire for way less. Would not recommend. read more

I had a great experience at Tuffy Tire & Auto on Hickman! They were able to get me in right before Thanksgiving (a very busy time for shops). I had some issues with my oil light and they took the time to check it when I went in for a simple oil change. When I told them the issue I was having, they didn't dismiss it like another auto service did. As I left, they reassured me everything was fine. They explained everything in a respectful way and I was in and out in no time! I would highly recommend Tuffy on Hickman! read more

These guys are fantastic!! I brought in my 05 Acura with a terrible knock in the engine. I'm thinking this I going to be bad news. They proceeded to diagnose the issue, which turned out to be a simple fix, resolved it and I was on my way in no time at all. I have had to take my car to these guys twice first time for a drive shaft to be replaced and 2nd time for a check engine light . for the drive shaft it was replaced and affordable but they messed up and makes loud noise and they didnt even want to honor their warranty on labor when i took it back to look at it. and they tried to scam me and tell me its a wheel bearing which is B.S.cuz it wasn't doing it before. Second time i took there they charged me almost $1700 for bunch of stuff and after one month or so the engine light came back on took it back and they said it there are other things to be fixed and wanted me to pa again. this place is a rip off and their mechanics don't know shit. read more

Called right before the holidays to make an appointment for an out of town family member with a check engine light. I was told to bring the vehicle in two days later and drop it off for inspection. Upon arrival upon the agreed date, I was asked who I spoke with as there was no time to service my vehicle. I stated I would not have brought my vehicle here if that were the case which is why I called and made an appointment. The guy at the desk acted like I was lying to him. Make sure you take the name and social security number of the person on the phone with you as apparently they don't take service too seriously here. Now I'm searching last minute for someone to service my vehicle due to their negligence in losing my appointment. Nice job .... Not. I won't be back. Zero stars. Had an amazing experience here! I was traveling across the country when I realized my tire was losing air. I called and asked if they could fit me in and he said they could if I could be patient. I stopped by and within 15 minutes he had repaired my tire. They were extremely accommodating of all my animals I was traveling with. Technicians were quick and friendly. Brandon is the man! Friendly service who didn't egg me on to buy a bunch of extra services. Fast to get me in and out, on my scheduled appointment of course. Just stopped by for an oil change. I would recommend scheduling ahead of time, as these guys seem to get plenty of business. Couches were comfortable, if you were to decide to wait at the shop for your vehicle. I'm highly disappointed in the service I received on September 8, 2017. I came to the Clive Tuffy Service Center on the 1st to get my oil changed with a coupon packet that I had purchased for about $45. The first oil change was to be "free". I paid $35 more for premium oil. Fine. Service was friendly and good though. So, then I scheduled my alignment to be done on the 8th. I get to my appointment and they tell me the alignment is fine (it's been pulling to the right for awhile now, but they blamed the tire pressure-which was within range and equal in the front), but come look at this he says...SUDDENLY, my water pump is leaking antifreeze and pretty rapidly too! I had been running errands all day and had just stopped at home for a few minutes, as well. At none of these stops was there antifreeze under my car. And I could clearly smell it now, not before. Then he tells me it'll be $579 to fix it. My car was COMPLETELY fine, except the alignment when I got there. And they didn't fix that either. I called my regular mechanic to get a quote on the water pump~$250!! And because I had the nerve to question how this happened, he pulled my car out and refused to fix anything! Seriously?!! Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I don't know anything about cars, and I'm VERY aware of any noises, smells or fluids that would show up under my car BEFORE I took it to the Clive Tuffy Service Center. There weren't any! So I guess the rest of the coupons go to waste because I will not take my business back to someone who tries to scam me!! In addition to all of this, my mechanic told me I was a quart low on the premium oil I paid for just a week ago!! Charge me extra and then short me the proper amount of oil!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! read more
