I got a flat tire during this latest cold spell. I contacted discount tire in colonial Heights and made an appointment. When I walked into the door, I was greeted by Heather who took great care of me assessed what was going on, showed me what's happening with my tire, and recommended some things to make sure that I was safe on the road. Heather did not try to upsell me. Heather did not try to pull the wool over my eyes. Heather was very honest and forthcoming. I decided on two tires and was told about the warranty that I could come by anytime to just make sure that the tires are wearing well and that there would be checks that are done periodically. That piece of mind was refreshing. I was told that the entire process would take about an hour to be done. 45 minutes later I was driving away happy as a clam. The amount that I paid was very comparable to others that I had checked in the area and I'm very pleased with the Service I received. When it's time to purchase my next set of tires, I will be coming back to discount tire in Colonial Heights. Their service was top-tier. read more

I've been getting tires here since this location opened. Sorry I don't know exactly how long that has been. Let's just say 5+ years or more. I have always had good service here. The fellas have always been friendly and not overly pushing "upselling" services or tires. I know what I want or need when I get here, so I don't really have the need for education or what tire I need. But I've watched the fellas and they don't seem to be upselling. I also shop around when I need tires. There is a big box store right down the street and another chain tire store. I always check their sales and DT always seems to be a few bucks cheaper. Going back to the service and the techs/managers. What I've seen though (in my opinion) is less staff but a crap ton of work. Now I'm not sure if this is a corporate issue (downsizing) or they just can't get or keep staff. But I'm pretty sure my observation is accurate. Service times seems to have increased from my past visits. Now I will HIGHLY suggest using the website and booking an appointment. That seems to help some. So big advice - appointment. I'm confident I will be continuing to buy and shop for tires here in the future. read more

Had a tire that was leaking air regularly. The usual mechanic shop I was going to claimed they couldn't find a reason why. Brought it to Discount Tire and they discovered the mechanic shop had rebuilt my tire sensor incorrectly (had that done a few weeks previously) and that was leaking the air. I went into discount tire to have my tires rotated since I bought my tires from them a few months ago. After waiting an hour and a half to have the work done the Manger came out to tell me that my current lug nuts were worn out and that he couldn't safely put them back on. This obviously put me into a situation where I really had no choose in the matter but to have new lug nuts put on at over $70. I kept the old lug nuts and brought them home to inspect them. There was nothing wrong with the old lug nuts. I believe the is just an up sell gimmick discount tire uses to sell to customers while they are in a no win situation with their car in the shop. This is very much an dishonest practice and I plan to report this to the BBB and local web sites. read more

My wife had a tire issue on our class C motor home. After waiting all night for Good Sam's could not find anyone to send out to her add after waiting overnight she limped the motor home into discount tire. Everyone was very nice and they got her right in and found the issues. Even after moving around there schedule they did not charge here for the repair. Sean the service writer hunted them down and still had them installed the same day. I'm a big fan of the communications - texts when the car goes in, and updates online. UPDATE: The other day, the manager from Discount Tires reached out on two separate events: 1. I recently posted my experience with Discount Tires in calling ahead for availability for services on my vehicle. Upon arrival, I was told there was going to be an hour or so wait which had me upset. The supervisor and I discussed with the operational layout and equipment available at the store, an empty store can quickly turn into an hour to two-hour wait. We further discussed collaboratively alternative ways to remedy situations as such and to my delight and ways of thinking...... schedule an appointment and stick to it. From a leader's perspective, he definitely made me forget about my experience for that day as his leadership qualities and communication skills were by far exemplary. Thank you. 2. The other day I had my appointment to have my tires rotated. The staff was as I expected from my last three visits. Observing each staff member working with customers they touched on the most important thing that can make a customer's day. The staff remarkable greeting of the day and smiles. you can't beat that. They confirmed with me on what was going to be done based on the appointment and went further to ask if there was anything else i wanted to address. I stated no and thank you. The time for rotational tires (depending on the vehicle) took about 20 minutes. I explained to the supervisor that I have never had a bad experience with Discount Tires/America's Tires (in California). This one incident was a hiccup and although as a business you try to capture every worst-case scenario, you absolutely can't. However, you as the leader and staff have a remarkable ability to defuse a situation. That is your candor, smiles, and effective communication. We had been to another location and we had great customer service there and this location did not disappoint. We were warmly greeted and were provided the options as we had to replace all 4 tires. Prices are competitive and we waited shorter than what they told us. Customer service is king and you can tell this chain trains well. I needed two new tires so my husband went over to the new Discount Tire location in Colonial Heights. Not long after he was there he called saying that one of the workers told him that my car needed something they could not do there and they would not let him take my vehicle because it was unsafe. What the what?!?! We kindly explained that A)Just give me my car back now. and B)You better just give me my car back now. Eventually someone with more experience just changed the tires and seat my car free. I am giving them 3 stars because they gave me back my car and actually put on the tires. I would probably give them more if they did not bring me to DEFCON 5 by telling me I could not have my car back. read more

Discount Tire employees are very professional at this location. I had gotten the Michelin Defenders for my Ford Fusion do to a few customers there/employees telling me how it was the best brand of tires that I could get. The customers there said that the Michelin Tire Brand was the best they ever had and that they will always get Michelin. Also, they said that I should get some new lug nuts do to mine being old and as they were changing my tires they said it wasn't catching like it should. So, they explained to me that if I ever had to change my tire it would be difficult to change because the tire rod won't catch the lug nuts. I will say that Discount Tire is all about your safety. Every store had been great, but this one in Colonial Heights beats them all. They went above and beyond to find tires for my BMW X5 35d. They found them, put them on and the next day I had an issue with tires. No fault of Discount Tires, but something with the tires themself. They fixed my issue without hesitation.
