I haven't done anything at this Discount Tire location except have my tires rotated so I can't say anything about their sales staff. In terms of service they were great to work with, even on the Friday before Labor Day they got my car into the shop fast and I was out of there quickly. The staff I dealt with was friendly and the other customers in the store seemed happy with the service too. Because this location is brand new it is very nice inside with a large waiting room. Fellow Yelpers, if you need tires, don't hesitate to make your way to Discount Tire on Van Winkle. They'll take good care of you! Today iwas the day to get the snow tires off and the summer tires back on. Pretty basic. The salesman looked at our summer tires and suggested that two of them were to the point where we might want to have them replaced. We have a trip to Vegas planned for the next week, so we said, "Sure. Go ahead." We were quoted a price of $138 for the two tires. So, off to dinner across the street we go. Half an hour later we make our way back and the Manager, Cory Staker, was just finishing up the car. He pulled it around and we went out to meet him. He tells us that when he was inspecting the tires he couldn't really tell which two of the four were the "good" ones, so he just went ahead and threw four new tires on for us...at no extra charge. Let me repeat: HE PUT FOUR ALL NEW TIRES ON AND CHARGED US FOR ONLY TWO. Yup, you can't go wrong with that. He gave us some of his cards and told us to spread the word. I purchased new tires from this location and was happy, only to find out one month later that my alignment was off and rubbed the inside of the tire. I asked them if they check to see if they tires rub on anything when they put them on and why didn't they tell me it was happening? When I took my car in to a service station that does nothing with tires nor alignment, the mechanic told me what was happening and I would need an alignment and new tires. I know Discount doesn't perform alignments but they should have at least told me that the inside of the tire was being stripped when the tire spun. I will have to find another location to purchase tires, someone with some integrity. read more

I was changing 2 tires to winter tires. Turns out both tires got flat quickly same day to the point of not being able to drive it without chewing up tires. Customer guy suggested I caught a nail or something... Right, one star for service! read more

If you use this Discount Tire location make sure to check their work. Because I live close by I took my 2000 Corvette in to have them balance the wheels. By the time I got to my home, a distance of 2 miles, one of the trim caps on my lug nuts was missing and two others were loose enough to be unscrewed with my fingers. Later I started to wonder if they may have also missed tightening the lug nuts as well so I borrowed a torque wrench from my neighbor. None of them were at the manufacturer's 100 foot-pounds and three of them required nearly a full turn to reach the correct setting. Don't believe I'll be going back here for any reason. read more

I've been coming to this discount store for over 17 years. This will be my last visit. I got to the store at 7:45am and there were already 3 people parked when I arrived. The first guy was there since 7:30. We all get in line at this 33 degree degree weather and a whole lot more people started to arrive and get in line. At 8 the assistant manager opens another door without acknowledging the line and puts everything in chaos. So the door everyone was waiting at was to be now the back of the line since it was the farthest door that he opened. We get in the store and people who got in much later got served first. One of the customer complained and the assistant manager said "well I figured whoever was first would come to me first ". When there's clearly over 10 customers in line and counting, he should have acknowledged the order. The guy who was first in line didn't get his turn until 8:25. My turn was closer to 8:40, almost an hour after I got there. Now for the icing on the cake, that same assistant manager was beyond rude, not even apologetic for the screw up. I have 4 vehicles that I own. I will not return to this store again. read more

I have been going to discount tires for years (first time to this one) and I've always had a great experience but this time I wasn't very happy so I got my tires changed not too long ago at most a month and one of the tires bolts were very loose and caused the tire to shake but I'm stupid and thought nothing of it and it eventually ended up knocking the bolts to brake caliper and caused it to rub against the rim pretty bad and when I took it in they told me there was nothing they could do about it and did t offer any kind of compensation or anything but other then this on the initial trip they were very kind and helpful and relatively fast I'm not saying don't come here just double check the bolts before you leave read more

Zero stars. This place is the worst. Every time I come they aren't even busy yet it takes forever. I've been sitting here for two hours, my car has not been taken back, and two people who came more than an hour after me have been helped and are now gone. They say "they had an appt". So did I. And, when I made an appt last time they pushed me to the end of the line also. When I came to get my winter tires put on they wanted to charge me $20 more than a different discount tire... They charge too much, take forever, and dick around in the office when they could be helping to get cars through. Terrible. I won't be coming back. read more

This particular Discount Tire has always been good to me and yesterday was no exception! Went in yesterday already knowing what type of tires I wanted, whether they were in stock or not, and roughly how much it was going to cost me out the door (woohoo website technology)! I got in and spoke with Chris who informed me that I was spot on on price and even after I tried to hustle an additional discount (which I wasn't counting on lol) he surprised me informing me that I was eligible for a $100 rebate that I didn't know about. We got that filled out (digitally) on the spot and he told me I'd be ready in less than 30 min. all while cracking jokes and being awesome. 30 minutes later and I was on my way with my new tires. Fantastic experience as always. The Store Manager (Jake) has always treated me well throughout the years both at another location and this one as well. Overall great staff. read more

This place is a scam. They remind me of Jiffy Lube, I don't get how places like that can brainwash their employees so well. I took my tire in to get it repaired, they told me they couldn't do it(which is odd because I then took it to a tire pros off of Parleys and they repaired it in 5 min with no charge, big shoutout.) Then they told me they couldn't put the tire back on and had to put the spare on, which is fine I guess.... but off. Then I go to pick up my car, I look in my trunk and all they left was the rim. After being a victim of a bate and switch ploy where the Michelin Tires I purchased were not available, they installed a substitute without telling me until after the tires were mounted. This was obviously done intentionally as I waited in the seating area the entire time. If this wasn't bad enough, upon inspecting the wheels and tires when I got home, the technician left grease all over the wheels and on the exterior of my SUV. Still worse, I noticed that each wheel had been chipped by the impact wrench they used. All of this at a cost of one thousand dollars. I will never let these fools touch any of my vehicles again. I had just purchased four new Michelins from the Sandy location (for my Benz with six thousand miles). The difference was like night and day. Proceed with caution should you purchase from the Van Winkle location. Better yet, go to the Sandy location and save yourself the aggravation. read more

I came in Saturday and it was pretty busy. Typical for a weekend. I'm now back on Monday morning and they couldn't get the tired I requested in time for my car... So they upgraded me to a better higher mileage tire for free! Then they let me get a trade in discount for one of my tires that wasn't as worn down. These guys are great. i have tried to give my business to this store and the discount tire on highland. It seems after the extremely poor service i received before, I tried to give them my business again. I emailed both stores for a price quote and match for a set of tires, twice. They never contacted me back. It was only a few dollars cheaper but like I said I was trying to give them my business. Well after a few weeks of waiting and no return call or email, I went to their competitor, and the competitor actually gave them to me cheaper. Just passing through and needed to get a tire checked for a hole. Mitch got me in and out within an hour in the middle of a Friday. Not only did the take care of the hole they also rotated the tires. A Tale of Two Tire Centers- Dustin was extremely helpful, very courteous. They gave us better tires than we found online and for a better price. They also pointed out two rebates which saved us an additional $135. Service was very fast- finished in about 20 minutes. Extremely pleased. Contrast this to the experience we had calling Sears Tire Center in West Jordan. The total for four tires amount to roughly $470 but after install fees he then informed us that the price would amount to well over $800! When questioned why such a ridiculous difference just to install the tires he was rude, said "whatever!" and hung up. Judge for yourself. Who would you go to in this instance? Sears will never get my business. Discount Tires in Holladay tops my list. read more

I am absolutely locked on Discount Tire 100%. I will continue to purchase and have all my tire needs and services done at Discount Tire. Their service has always been great and always surpassed my expectations. I always replace my tires there and I truly recommend purchasing the certificate they have which is a tire warranty. It is so worth it. If your tire is ever damaged, they replace it with a brand new tire for free. There were a couple times where I had a nail in the tire and it damaged it and another time my tire was basically cut badly and Discount Tire replaced the tire both times with a new tire at no charge what so ever. They also do all the rotation and balancing for free with you tire purchase. Their service is great, fast and very professional. read more

These guys are great. I called them on the road in Reno asking if they could get me a new set of Dunlop Direzza Z2 for my JCW MINI Cooper Clubman. They are new for the season. They called me back in less than 5 minutes with pricing and said they could fix me up with installation at a convenient time for me. Cory did a great job in greeting me and showing me the new shoes. I drive very spirited and wanted to not only know about the new tires but how the old ones did. I bought those 20k ago in Seattle and was impressed to get this mileage from a pair of Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1 Extreme Summer tires. I recently got a nasty flat and didn't purchase road hazard insurance.....instead of me buying a new tire at $172, Brian was nice enough to let me purchase the road hazard insurance on the spot!! Only costing me $82!!!! This kind of care goes a long way. This is one story of many with this discount tire location. They are true, humble and caring. This appreciation really goes a long way. Not to mention free lifetime balancing, rotation, price matching and they will pro rate any tire for you if you decide you don't like it or want to get new ones for any reason!! This location used to be my favorite several years ago. I need new tires and figured I'd jyst go directly here after work, no shopping necessary. After calling to ask if I need to make an appt, I was completely turned off by the man I spoke to. He said, no, that i didn't need an appointment, then asked when I'd be by. I told him after work, around 430. He then continued by saying that they are pretty busy around then and trying to get out of there on time. I said, okay... If you're busy around this time, wouldn't it be better to make an appt? He then said, "there aren't any, because that's our busy time." I then told him I'm confused, I guess I'll go somewhere else and he laughed at me and said, no you can come here. It was a weird vibe, and he made it feel like i was going to inconvenience them. They just lost a pretty easy sale, but oh Well. I already called and got in touch with a Big O' Tire, and found I will be saving over $150 for a mid-level tire, and they already booked me in the system for later today. I recommend anyone unhappy with this location to go to a Big O, instead. read more

After over a decade and multiple vehicles serviced by Discount Tire, I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. I'd rather pay more money for a quality result. I didn't realize Discount Tire's motto was $1000 for new tires and a half ass job leaving the customer to clean up their problem. My husband has taken off the entire wheels to replace brakes for my vehicle several times with no problem then Discount Tire (and their prime example of paying employees more due to lack of people willing to work so they over pay under qualified, under educated people who have no idea what the hell they are doing) break every hubcap cover because supposedly they can't get the screws out. Then they leave my hubcaps looking like shit with the screws sticking out of them with broken pieces and just shrug their shoulders like oh well you'll have to remove those screws and buy new covers. It would be worth paying more to have the reassurance you'll get a job done right. We also took our boat over at the same time, they were too lazy to rotate the tires on the boat trailer and then when we requested they grease the axels, which they had done at this exact location when they put the brand new tires on, they had some lazy ass excuse about how they didn't have their oil gun up and running. What the hell is that? We've bought multiple sets of tires for many vehicles over the years from Discount Tire and this is how you treat return business. I guess you have no value in people continuing to bring you their vehicles.  You just count on doing a shitty job, driving solid customers away, and only market to suckers who are looking to save a dollar. Good luck with that business plan. Oh and surprise surprise, my husband got home, used a hand tool and was able to get the screws out with minimal effort which upon removal were completely stripped. So the lazy shits took a power tool to the screws, stripped them, then busted apart my hub cap covers and left the screws you stripped just sticking out. So you need the customer to come in and do part of your god damn job for you? Good to know. read more

Bought tires from here just over 6 months ago. Great service and atmosphere, the new remodel is top notch. I've been by twice for tire rotations and have always been treated well. Tire prices are about the best I've seen in slc, and their roadside guarantee's and general service seal the deal. They also didn't try and up sell me the most or more expensive tire simply because of my taste in sports tires. All in all a great place to get a great set of tires with the peace of mind of quality service and treatment. read more

Worst store ever!!! I have AWD which means if I pop a tire if the tread is bad I have to buy all new tires. My husband went into the store and the guy told him no way you're tread is it a four we have to replace all four tires and it will be $300. that very same day I went to a different discount tire they told me my tread was at an 8 and had no problem giving me a new tire this store is all about wanting to sell you tires nothing more nothing less they don't care at all!! I had dealt with several frustrating issues concerning the particular wheels on my car over the last few years when I came into his store. I was done. Long story short...Jake made everything right. He treated me with absolute respect in spite of my complete lack of trust from previous experiences. What makes a business stand out is not only employees greeting customers happily upon their first visit to their store, but when they are *actually* concerned about your concerns and go far beyond expectations to fix things. Our car had a flat tire in Eden, UT. We had to be on the road the next day to Las Vegas and we realized that there is a razor on the side of the tire which was going to be impossible to fix and we probably needed to get a new tire. We went to discount tire in Ogden and were told they didn't carry that specific brand of tire and indeed the tire had to be replaced because the razor was on the side of the tire (crazy luck huh??). We tried everywhere, Walmart, Sam's club, Costco and every other place we could think of, but no luck. Everybody was offering us to order and we would get it within 3-5 business days, which wasn't an option for us. We called another discount tire in the area and the gentleman looked in the computer for us and told us that the location in Holladay, UT had it in stock but we only had one hour to get there. We had a donut spare tire on but we decided to risk it and drive there. We made it there 30 minutes before closing. A wonderful young man named Nathan greeted us and told us not to worry, and that he would take care of everything. He took care of everything in less than 30 minutes and also adjusted some other things on the car. We were so grateful for the wonderful customer service here and are thankful to the wonderful manager who assured us he would take care of us as long as we get there before closing, unfortunately I don't remember his name.
