I had a flat tire about a week ago while at a friends house. Discount tires was the closest location I could think of to get the tire fixed. It was late at night so I was able to get enough air in there to get me to that location. I got a ride home and returned in the morning to do the paperwork and get the repairs started. When the associate finally got to me and checked out the tire he told me that they were not able to repair the tire because the hole was too close to the edge of the tire. I showed him that the hole was actually right in the center of the tire and there should be no problem patching it. He again repeated there was nothing they could do about it. He suggested I purchase another tire for $109. My first thought was to have the car towed to somewhere else who could patch and repair it for me but I decided to purchase the tire and just let it go. After the tire replacement was complete I asked them to put the old tire in the back of my car and I took it to another discount tires in imperial Beach. They told me there that it would be no problem patching that tire. It just needed to be on a rim. I feel I was totally taken advantage of because I could not move my car to a different location and the agent at that discount tires in La Mesa just wanted to sell me a new tire because it was much more profitable than patching my existing tire. I am very disappointed with this discount tire location and I will never return there again and I would advise others not to shop there either. read more

This was the fastest, least painful experience I have ever had buying tires. Made an appointment over the phone, came in, they inspected my tires and I felt were very genuine and honest with my options. I could have just got 3 and I opted to just buy a new set and they actually gave me a credit for the tire I didn't need. They send a link to your phone to keep track of when your vehicle is done; It was done in 45 minutes. Everywhere else said to just drop it off and it could take 4-5 hours. Overall I was only disappointed that my tire wasn't under warranty anymore because of the tread. But I needed up replacing my two back tires because they were pretty worn. I brought my Lexus L350 to the La Mesa branch for replacement of the factory tires.They looked at the old tires and and gave a reasonable quote to replace them which I accepted. I brought the car in and left them to do their work. They called later with a problem, they had destroyed the wheel lock key and lug with a impact wrench. They told me it would have to be drilled and they didn't do drilling. I immediately pointed out the damage to the rim they had done, upon further inspection I pointed out they had done similar damage to two of the rims (photos were taken). After taking the car to Lexus and spending over $200 to remove the studs, I brought the car back to Discount and was told to handle the complaint with the manager the next day. I went back the next day and the manager claimed they never use impact tools on locking lugs, directly contradicting what the technician told me. He also said the technician should have told us of a service they use to drill them out instead of going to Lexus. Bottom line, they were unwilling to cover any of the damage they caused and directly contradicted the information the tech had given us the day before. Further, they told us if we want it resolved to take it up with the claims dept They claims department has been totally non-responsive. After taking all of our vehicles to Discount over many years, we will never use Discount Tire again. read more

I've only used a Discount Tire a couple of other times and had very average service. This location was exceptional when I went recently. The customer service was very good. I was pretty sure I was doing the right thing to get the absolute best deal, and when I called to double check on a certain tire, they gave me a tip that ended up saving me a few hundred dollars. I don't think I can recommend this place for tire service. For some reason this place is extremely busy and while we had an appointment, we still waited over an hour to get help. Overall the total service took 2 to 3 hours despite what it should have been, 15 minutes. The primary issue was that we were a few minutes late. The disappointing part was that the person in the front checking us in lied and said we were much later than we were (20 minutes late), and even after speaking to the manager, they have nothing to say about the discrepancy in time and just said that they would help us as soon as they can, but we turned into a non appointment line clearly. I had to check in several times just to make sure we were on a list for tire repair. I had bigger expectations for a place like this it has been around for quite long. normally good service at Grossmont location, but today not so much. I was in waiting room with my earplugs listening to music and working on my computer. They did text me, but I didn't hear it or see it and they didn't tell me when I checked in that that's how they were going to contact me. I told them I would be working on my computer and just wait there. There were only four other people in the waiting room so I feel like maybe they could've noticed I was still there and yelled my name or come and told me the car was done. I sat there for an extra 30 minutes. I was not told or did I know that they would text me when the car was done since I was sitting in waiting room . I have not had my wipers changed in over a year maybe longer so I told them to check them and change them if needed. i was expecting to pay for the wipers, but when I asked about it he said he could go check with the shop. Since it was after 12 and I had been there since 10:45 with an appointment to rotate my tires for the first 6,000 miles, I opted to leave. These guys know what customer service really is. My tire pressure light came on and I immediately went to the Santee location, waited a good while for an air check while I could hear the techs singing in the bay. No issue with this, workplace fun is fine, I get it. Got the air check performed by a younger blonde guy with longer hair. He let me know my rear tire had a nail in it, to pull around park and give the guys in the front the paper he gave me with the details on my tires. Another young long haired guy at the front (wish I had gotten names) came out, looked at my tire and said it should be ok to keep driving. As long as it didn't go under 20psi. He let me know that they could not fit me in today, it was 5pm they close at 6 and he told me to make an appointment. Waiting for an air check. The clerk assigned has had a 20 minute convo with a person in the air check space. Then proceeded to the other car. I pulled in. Still sitting here. The assigned clerk has now gone inside with a gentleman (not here for air check). And here I sit. I'm so glad this service was touted when I spent $1000.00 on tires. Oh.....and here is that story. I came in at opening, selected tires, paid cash. Was told it would be done within 3 hours. Come back three and a half hours later...my car is still in its parking spot. No new tires. I go inside and tell them that I won't be waiting any longer and to refund my transaction. At this time I was glad I paid cash because they wouldn't have an out to try to not refund my money. The clerk was a little panicked and asked if he could have it done in 15 minutes would I reconsider. I said no, not on an "if". Then he said they WOULD have it done within 15 minutes. Ok, fine. Walked across the street to kill time. Came back, car was coming down off the lift. Now, keep in mind, I'm writing this on my phone as I sit here and wait. What fantastic service today. I've been getting tires from Discount Tires for over two decades. I recently bought a used car for my son and one of the tires was losing air. I called an explained what was going on and they scheduled an appointment for me to bring the car in. We brought the car in and they removed the wheel, put it a tank of water to check for the leak. There was nothing apparent from that, they then removed the tire from the rim and did a visual inspection of the inside of the tire and didn't see anything. Came here to see if I could get my tire repaired but unfortunately, it had side wall damage. Brad got me up to speed with options and pricing, and I was on my way in no time! Definitely recommend this place! Everyone is very nice but also very professional. They have a clean lobby and a work area too (Brad took me over to my tire to show me the side wall damage, and I didn't have to worry about tripping over tools or anything on the ground). I only strayed once to the dealer only because they matched discounts price however the dealer has never been able to match the service I have received from discount tire since. Take today, for example. My fairly new high performance tires with only 10,000 miles on them from the dealer had a slow leak in my rear tire. These are run flat tires. The dealer said I needed a whole new tire for the prorated price of $350. I called discount and they said the tire could probably be repaired depending upon where the puncture was.
