I have mixed feelings about this location. I should mention that the Yelp listing is currently incorrect and this is located in La Mesa. Anyway, I got out of work one Friday and had a flat tire. So I drove to Discount Tire on my little spare. It was my first time at this particular Discount Tire. First, I will say that the guys working there are very kind. They are polite and welcoming. While I waited, one even brought me a free chocolate bar. Also, I forgot my work bag there, and they kept is safely for me overnight. Anyway, they let me know that my flat was actually caused by the wheel this time, as the corrosion was causing my flat tire. Anyway, they gave me the name of a place to fix my wheel and sent me on my way. I asked why they didn't fix the tire so I didn't have to come back, but they told me they would fix it after the wheel was fixed. I had to wait until the wheel shop was open the following Monday. That morning, once my wheel was fixed, I dropped my car off for the tire to be fixed. I took a ride share to work and back to be sure that it was fixed by the evening. When my car was ready, I learned that they didn't have to do anything to the tire. I was a bit upset as I didn't need to take all the time and pay for the ride shares to and from work. I could have simply had the wheel store put my tire and wheel back on. All in all, it is a nice group of people there, but I do feel that my time was wasted and I'm not sure why they couldn't have been more clear on Friday that I did not need their services any longer. read more

I called in and made an appointment for an alignment with a very nice + helpful guy on the phone. Went in, Checked in with the very nice, who I assume is the manager. ??? He said it would be about an hour + a half......... A long time, but, I was in no rush, + ok with it. It was a Very Hot day + they were Extremely busy, so, I took/take that into account. No big deal. They had me in + out in less than an hour. From the phone call, to check in, to questions to the technician, + to check out/payment, they were, ALL, Very nice, Very Professional, + Very Helpful. I've come here before and received 10/10 service. The staff has always been really great to work with and I've never had a problem. This last time left me feeling a little miffed... I just got a new car and came for new tires. I did not realize I had wheel locks and unfortunately was not able to find the key due to the car being used and assuming previous owner kept it. They told me they had to break the wheel locks which was fine - I just assumed they would replace with a simple lug nut instead. I got home and realized I'm missing a lug nut on all 4 tires. I understand they did not have the car specific brand lug nut to match my wheels but they did not communicate at all that I'd be missing one/would not be replacing/did not have a lug nut and that I need to get new ones ASAP. I was leaving for a weekend trip which required a lot of driving and did not feel comfortable with the missing lug nuts so I had to run around and figure it out myself. I just feel like there was a very big lapse in a safety concern and communication was not there at all. read more

I spent my life (47 years) in the auto business starting as a technician moving to shop Forman, service writer and then to a service manager in Volkswagen. Became a field representative and sat on the US Service Council board & the World service counsel /advisory group. As dealers and techs came and went mostly because of but/sale franchises or better pay, I always noticed and mentioned in meetings the streamline & organized operations at Discount Tire and usually fell on deaf ears. I've been retired now for 10 years and I get (as I knew) faster service & cheaper at Discount Tire than I would for tire ls at the dealers. Such a huge market and back when I was in the thought was "quick service oil changes" and once you had them in the store they'd buy from the first person who showed them tire issues. Never happened on a large percentage basis & the quick LOF doesn't really exist anymore in the way they expected. Shame on the missed opportunity & profits. read more

I had a great experience here. They have a separate "check air" area. So, I was in and out in 10 minutes. Good resource with the changing weather. Found out they also rotate tires for FREE! After waiting over 20 minutes to get my tire pressure check I ended up just going to the gas station on the corner. I understand they might be under staffed but there was a lack of communication, well actually no communication at all in regards to the line for getting an air check. I'm pretty patient but 20 minutes is a long time to be sitting without anyone coming over just to rreassure you that they will be with you shortly. Terrible customer service and worse quality of work. They put on two new tires for a good price but ruined my lug bolts, forced me to buy new ones and put them on with an impact cross threaded and stripped the threads. Now I have to replace more parts. The things they have broken cost me more than the tires. What's worse is if they rounded the lug-nuts they could not tighten them to the correct torque they didn't say anything just let me drive away in a very unsafe vehicle because of their negligence and lack of care for my vehicle. (No) Discount Tire is going down hill. The people there are usually pretty nice but Justin in La Mesa is a tool with 0 service skills, problem solving, or personality. There's definitely no discount on their tires as they're more expensive than most and will use any excuse to avoid replacing tires under warranty. More and more customers will be taking their business to Costco or other places that offer better pricing, quality service, and alignment services as well. Today was a rare bad day at Discount Tire. My friend bought tires here two years ago. Paid the fee that pays for free flat repair and tire rotation and balancing so not really free. Tire rotation is something that's not on her to do list so it hadn't been done in a couple years. Consequently her front tires on her front wheel drive car have worn faster than the rears. A couple months ago her front passenger tire was low so she went to Discount. They put air in the tire and sent her on her way. So every two weeks when that same tire was low she would go back to Discount. They kept telling her not to worry, would put air in the tire and send her on her way. Last week Discout told her she needed new tires. They were cracking they said. Well last night she went out to find the tire 80% flat so she took it to Discount. I will stop now and add this. Discount has always been good to me. Of course they suggest I think about getting new tires when I still have 30% tread left. I say no. They like to point out random cracks to try and get me to buy new tires when I don't need them. I just say no and they back off. They went down the same path with my friend so she came and got me. I took a look at her tires. They looked fine. No cracks. The one tire was obviously going flat. I told the service guy I wanted the flat tire fixed and the tires rotated. After the service guy did his inspection he recommended no rotation. I said yes rotate. I want the back tires with more tread on the front. He said you want those tires in the back so you don't spin out in the rain. What? Some truth to his story. I said I want more tread on the front for better steering and even wear. So they listened. Found a nail in the flat tire. Fixed that. Rotated the tires as I asked. Here is the deal. When my friend, a woman, first brought her car in with a low tire Discount should have checked it for a nail at that time. Instead they let her drive with a compromised tire for two months. Discount never recommended a rotation also. The takeaway this time. Discount seems to be avoiding performing the tire maintenance we pay for. They should be proactive to extend the life of our tires, which we pay handsomely for. By ignoring maintenance red flags they do the opposite, which shortens the life of our tires. They lied about cracks. Their goal. Convince the customer to buy new tires before they need them. Lie if you have to. Make up stuff. Granted not all Discount guys lie but there seems to be more pressure these days to force the issue, Borderline predatory. This is a PSA for all Discount customers. Be aware the air station is for the most part an opportunity for a Discount guy to sell you tires you don't need. While they should be checking for nails and recommending rotation they do not, resulting in premature tire wear and increased new tire sales. You have been warned. read more

I had an appointment this morning to get a set of new tires and was in and out within 30 minutes. Eduardo helped me find the right tires and was so helpful and personable. I never feel that they are pushy or try to sell you things you don't need, and when I have needed replacement tires in the past they try to find me the best deal. absolutely horrible and poor customer service. came in to buy an entire set of new tires, knew exactly what i wanted. first spoke to ricky who was incredibly kind and respectful. dealt with michael next who was rude, condescending, and added a $120 extended warranty without informing me of doing so. was told by ricky that i could use my fathers military discount if i provided a photo of his id as he was working away and this was his car. michael stepped in and refused to do so. then, within 24 hours, one of the tire popped and they are refusing to swap it out for free and are charging us $50. i only drove home with these tires. never coming here again. this is a nightmare to deal with. Update: Went to the Santee location where honored the military discount, gave me my money back for it and took care of the tpms sensor that the technician had improperly put on at no cost. When I arrived @ Discount Tire-La Mesa with what I'd been told was likely an irreparable hole or two in one of my tires, I fully expected to have to purchase four new tires for my 4WD SUV. I also had suspect tire pressure sensors that needed to be assessed and, as my car was ~13 yo with ~ 180,000 miles on it, I expected to have to replace those as well. So I was expecting to pay ~ $1300. or more OTD. I was reassured by Luis, the service advisor, that we'd essentially deal with each issue as it came, and I was told to expect the work to be completed ~ an hour and a half after I got there. ~ 20' later, Luis told me the hole was in fact reparable and that the tire pressure sensors were all good as well. So, 40' total after I arrived, I was informed that all work was completed, all of my tires were fine and should last another 15-20,000 miles, that they also rotated all my tires and checked their pressure as well, and that my bill totaled exactly $0.00! Walking in expecting $1300. in new tires and repairs, but leaving with a still-good set of tires and tire pressure sensors and owing nothing was a wonderful way to end my day! Note that I've used DT-LM before for tire purchases and repairs and their service and help is consistently good. I strongly recommend the service and quick work of the service advisors and technicians at Discount Tire-La Mesa. read more

Helpful from the start. I showed up close to closing because I was worried to drive my car back home due to a leak in the tire.
