I'll admit that my recent trip to Discount Tires was due to an emergency. I'd filled my tires with air the day prior and it was obvious that one of them had a slow leak when I got out of work around 5 pm. I called ahead to see if they'd be able to assist since they were closing in just under an hour and was assured they'd take care of me. It was fairly busy but they were able to get to my car right away and found there was a screw in one of my tires (WILD!). They were able to patch it at no cost to me (??) and I was on my way within 15 minutes. It's been a couple of weeks and the tire is just fine. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and helpful, even though it was towards the end of the day for me. Scheduled my appointment for new tires. This location is kind of small and a busy location . Waited in line for a bit but once we were attended the process went pretty fast and smooth . Prices have definitely gone up . Last time I got new tires it was $500 this time it was more like $850 . Wow !! Talk about inflation ... I like Discount tires because they can repair and or replace a bad tire for 40 bucks . So I stick with what I know . It was pretty cool to get a card with the detailed information for each tire purchased to register in case there is a recall . Over all I'm happy with my service and new tires ! read more

I've always had a great experience at this Discount Tire but especially throughout the combination of my last two visits. I had them patch a leak on my factory-issue Mach E Michelins in June and we began the discussion of being able to put wider tires on my car (something Ford's system said wasn't recommended, but I really wanted because the ones it came with looked like they came off of a Focus!) Austin did a lot of digging: into his world of tires, into my world of how I drive, and into the specs on my vehicle, and he came out with five additional options! He took the time to also explain what each would do to battery usage, which was awesome to learn and definitely affected my decision. I did have to hold off on getting the work done until October though. When I reopened the case, Eddie, Austin, and Mike were all awesome throughout the process. Ford even said these Discount Tire guys would know best and gave the change in size their blessing. Austin and Eddie answered all my new questions, set everything up exactly how I wanted, and when I wanted (even a day sooner, if I had been available) and never were pushy or cocky. Beyond that, when I arrived for my appointment to have the work done, the store was surprisingly slammed busy with walk-ins at the same time. All of the staff, although moving quickly from task to task or customer to customer, never seemed like they were losing their cool, never seemed like they were rushing people, or mansplaining anyone, and none of them were dragging their butts either. Lastly, for a team of so many young men to be patient and effective with all of the various types of customers coming in, often not knowing the process or the products they even need, in today's world, I can tell you, as a former employer of hundreds, I was very jealous of how great the staff was. I would absolutely buy their leadership team some coffees and have a good long chat about the psychology they bring to their team. Super impressive! Oh, and my new tires are sweet! They come with a free rotation service every 5k miles or so. My car came out just as clean as it went in too. One more shoutout to Austin, though. I started at the Discount Tire on Grossmont Blvd in La Mesa, but although they did a good job for me six years ago, when I tried to talk to them about new tires for my car, I got shut down hard by whoever answered the phone. He told me that the price online was the final price. He also said that I couldn't buy tires online and have them sent to the shop for installation. Then he said that no one in the shop was going to tell me anything different. It was clear that he had better things to do than to sell four $200 tires to a repeat customer who brings in multiple cars. So I called this Discount Tire on Mission Gorge, where the manager, Mike, took all of five minutes to close my sale. He said I could have my own tires installed there, but then asked what I wanted to buy. He found my tires in Discount Tire's inventory at a decent mark-down from the online price, and had them in the shop the next day for installation. I made an appointment, and was driving home twenty minutes earlier than expected. Mike did all of this without being a dick about it, which shouldn't be a selling point, but as time goes on, I'm more often than not surprised at being treated like my business is worth having. We had just found a nearby repair shop that our car needed 2, maybe 4 new tires. Since we were leaving in a few days on a 2200-mile road trip, it was suggested that we could get the best tires at Discount Tire around the corner, so off we went. It was 5:30 pm when we arrived, and the store manager (Tyler G.) greeted us and took a few minutes to measure the tread and give us a choice of tire prices, warranty, and durability. Within minutes, 4 young men came out and changed one tire apiece. Meanwhile, we went over and ordered a few pieces of baked chicken at an adjacent restaurant and got a text that the car was ready at 5:55! LIFE SAVERS!!! San Diego street elements are beyond me. I seem to always come here at the least 2x a year to get a nail or screw removed and tire repair. I've come here for tire service as they are always good at getting my custom order in timely fashion (next day). Their reputation has been great in my archives. So, whenever, I see a nail/screw puncture my wheel - even if my computer doesn't register any pressure change, I am quick to come through and within an 1hr I'm patched and on my way. They don't even try to gyp me in any way! 1) if the nail/screw hasn't punctured the side wall, high chance of salvaging the wheel and getting it patched 2) if the nail/screw is on the side it's likely it penetrated the side wall and will need a new tire. Today I had a really disappointing experience at this location. I was in La Mesa for an appt and noticed my car warning stating that I had low tires. I had to drive back to LA county so decided not to chance it and stop at the nearest discount tire (this mission gorge location). Upon arrival many people were waiting to pull in the parking lot. I waited my turn but the parking lot was packed and I noticed the "check air" spot was in awkward parking space. Normally, you pull in like a drive through and keep going. This one was in a parking spot you had to pull in and then back out of. The problem is the parking lot was full so people were having a hard time pulling out. I get to my turn and pull in, roll down my window, and Austin greets me with " wow you can't give us a break today, I have been doing this all day. All these people waiting in line for free air" he then starts to digress about how dangerous it is that people are blocking the entrance and someone is going to get hit". Finally I interjected and let him know that I didn't need "free air" I needed his expertise on the status of my tires. Were my sensors off? Check the pressure and let me know if it is an air issue or something else. He comes back after checking and sure enough all of my tires were low. He did come back with a better attitude but I felt like I was bothering him and he had already triggered my ability to empathize with him. Someone might need to remind him that it is not the customer's fault you offer this free service and that is Job security for him. Why was he that literally complaining about doing the job he was hired to do. What would he be doing otherwise? Could I have went to the gas station and tried to use that thing to check my pressure and air it up with their free air?.... Maybe. But I'm not trying to over fill my tires and I just got my nails done. So I'm not. I typically go to discount tire and send my daughters there but I will definitely be staying away from this Location. We should all be reminded that if we don't love what we do every day, go do something else. I'm sure no one made him work there. Do better Austin. Really hard to say anything about this place. First and foremost the online experience was seamless. When it comes to my car I prefer to go to local shops and have a more personalized experience. But didn't have time this go around. Looked online, plugged in my VIN number, it pulled up 10 different tires that would fit my car. It provided other vital details so I didn't have to pull up another Google search to look for it. They also had my tires in stock and unlike other places, I didn't need to wait 7+ days to get them replaced. I paid about 100 dollars more to get the 3 year warranty. Tires were a bit more pricy than other places but I also got them replaced the same day I ordered it which is pretty hard to get. So I'd say it's pretty good value. read more

On March 18, 2025, I had my tires replaced at Discount Tire, and I was really looking forward to a smooth experience. Before even working on my car, they tried to sell me new rims, which I declined. After getting my car back, I noticed significant gashes and damage on almost every rim--damage that wasn't there before. I don't want to assume the worst, but it's concerning, especially given their earlier attempt to sell me new rims. Additionally, I specifically asked for the lug nuts to be hand-tightened and finished with a breaker bar to avoid stripping the wheel studs. Instead, I watched them ignore my request and use impact guns like it was a NASCAR pit stop. That's not how proper tire installation should be done. At this point, I haven't had a chance to bring this to their attention, but I want to give them the opportunity to make this right. Tire changes should not leave deep scratches and gouges on rims, especially from a company that specializes in this service. I will update this review based on how they handle the situation, but for now, if you're getting service here, take photos of your rims before and after to protect yourself. I hope to resolve this fairly, and I'll adjust my review accordingly based on their response. read more
