This is a great park. The park is huge, lots of grassy areas. The playground is great too- all covered. Says it is for 2-12 yrs old for the playground. The playground is very safe which I love, the only area that is high is the boulder rock, made for older kids, but small kids still want to climb on it and it is hard for me to get my toddler down since its tall. Lots of covered table areas. Public bathrooms. The lake is huge with fish and ducks. The only downside is that the lake is smelly every time I have gone here and could be a lot cleaner. A decent park to meet up with boo boo kitty and walk to talk. I enjoy coming here from time to time as it's peaceful. There was a game going on which became a little congested but overall it's the perfect place to catch a quick walk. Winter months is preference however, we didn't stay long since it was just too hot out! I recommend waiting until the Winter months! read more

I discovered Discovery Park yesterday...now I want to be an Ornithologist. It's alot of fun birdwatching and I even got a pic of a cute bird catching a fish. They allow fishing and a guy fishing told me the Catfish are tasty. There's nice shaded Ramadas where I finished my Someburro leftovers. I thought Disneyland Arizona was next door to the park but it turns out it's a huge Mormon temple. It's an above average sized park with a working bathroom, water fountains. Hours are 5:30am to 10pm. read more

I can not explain what a delightful experience I had while in Gilbert. The park includes numerous lakes with fish in stock. Also home to a large number of fields to play athletics on. Great place to take a walk after a long day shopping at near by shopping mall. read more

Nice Park With A Couple Duck Ponds, Soccer Fields, Swings and Volleyball and Basketball Courts This was our first visit to discovery Park. We realized there was another park with some duckponds to feed the ducks which is my son's favorite activity and thought we would check it out. There are a couple nice duckpond's with some trees and reeds and other vegetation to make for a little oasis in the desert. The ducks are very friendly here if you bring a Ziploc bag full of birdseed they will come right up and eat it out of your hand! There are some nice shaded picnic table areas for having a little snack. Also some volleyball and basketball courts if you want to play. There are some swings and big soccer fields down below as well. Tons of parking makes for an easy trip here. All in all another Great Park brought to you by the city of Gilbert. read more

Why have so many people forgotten the beauty of their local parks? I have mentioned this place to so many people who seem to not even know it exists! Beautifully landscaped & lots of parking close to the picnic tables. A good group of small but shady trees - perfect for napping or reading or napping :) A nice water feature that makes for great bird landings - I saw ducks and geese (or pheasant or flamingos - I'm not really a bird person) splashing about to keep cool on a late summer day in 2012. Now that we've made it through half the winter, I'm looking ahead to more, ahem, reading in the shade! read more

The park is amazing. I am so disappointed in the city of Gilbert and it's "park rangers". We brought 35 plus kids out to get some training (no money just kids getting better and not out doing drugs or committing crime). Apparently the flag football rented the entire field to include hills and all extra areas. Was very rude if this is how the town of Gilbert does things I want nothing to do with this city. I wonder if any of the news stations would cover this ?????? Now an hour past, the female park ranger is allowing 6-10 females to run up the hill and yet still no flag football kids running or "practicing there". Now this could turn into an EO complaint. read more

At first, it doesn't seem like much of a park. We enjoy coming here to go for a walk, jog, or ride our bikes. There is a little swing set by the restrooms and no jungle jims or slides. You can go fishing with an urban permit on the lake. There are several basketball courts. There's always seem to be people playing there everytime we come. FYI, there are soccer leagues going on a few evenings a week and it gets really packed full of kids. They pretty much stay on the soccer field side of the park. The paths are super easy for kids to ride their bikes. There is one area where I was a little worried about the elevation. My son just learned to ride without training wheels. He did great and absolutely loved it! read more

This is a nice, big park that is well maintained and nice to walk through. There are tons of playing fields which seem to be in use almost constantly. When they are in use, the park is REALLY well lit, even a little later in the evening. My little one is fascinated with sports and can occupy the better part of an hour just watching the kids practice soccer here. He also loves walking along the various ponds and enjoys playing in the small play area on the south side of the park. The play area is very small and there isn't a whole lot there to do - a few swings, a rock wall/structure that kids can climb on, and a large rock ball thing. I do like that it is filled with wood chips instead of sand (my son's shoes were empty of sand/dirt after our trip here) The ponds throughout the park are nice - they are full of ducks and look pretty. They seem to use somewhat of a natural filtration system using plants in the shallows, which is kindof cool, and the water circulates really well which keeps the water from smelling stagnant and getting full of gunk. All in all, a nice place to visit and I'm glad to have it nearby! read more

I love Discovery Park and it's one of my favorite parks. Vincent, one of the groundskeeper that has been working there for years is awesome. I always enjoy when I run into him and we sometimes have some nice chats. He keeps the place looking great, despite the high flow traffic of soccer, football and the many people that come to this park. It is well maintained and a lot of ducks live here, which they also make a mess. Vincent is good at keep the bird crap washed off, garbage cans emptied, picking up trash. I just wish that when people visit this park, they would pick up their own trash, whether it be empty bottled waters, candy snack wrappers or whatever, so Vince and the rest of the groundskeepers can attend to making the park look beautiful. Since they started stocking the ponds with larger fish, this is more inviting to those whom like to fish. I love to walk and sometimes do my workouts here. You can take the outer trail along the outskirts of the park, which also goes alongside the freeway and to Pecos & San Tan Village Road, which is a little over a mile, or there are many inner and smaller trails both paved and unpaved to walk, ride your bike, run. I've done all of these many times. All the parks in Gilbert, which I go to all of them on a regular basis, are well maintained and clean, unless some of the parks in Mesa & Gilbert, which even if they are nice, are sometimes so filled with trash strewn everywhere. Thanks to Vincent and his crew for doing such a great job at maintaining Discovery and making enjoyable for our community to use on a day in and day out basis. You rock! read more

I LOVE DISCOVERY PARK! I selected Discovery Park to run my professional Fitness Boot Camp because of the central location to the Gilbert shopping and the freeway, but more than anything the beauty and variety of the terrain to train my clients in and on. The park is HUGE and the staff who tend to the grounds and service our professional needs to rent the space we train on are wonderful! I do wish they had more parking and I do wish they had more equipment for kids to play on not hidden from bathroom. I also wish I had fitness equipment such as monkey bars to do pull-ups on. Even with all of this said I still rate the park 5 stars! I take my morning walks here several days a week. Weekday mornings, the park is deserted but weekday evenings and weekend mornings, it's a different story. The fields are packed with football and soccer players. It's a great park for these types of activities. The maintenance crew does great work to keep the grass lush and green with so much traffic at least once per day every day of the week. The hills down to the soccer fields on the west side of the park are amazing for ice blocking too. You can get quite a bit of speed going down those slopes. Also, there are a few geo cache sites here so stop by for an geo cache adventure with the kiddos. read more

Our college group meets here every Wednesday night to play some coed volleyball. Sand is a little ruff, but he park is always clean and friendly. We always have a great time and try not to spike the ball in too many peoples faces. :) read more

A wonderful park, well kept grounds, two lakes, large fields for kids sports, and lots of veranda areas for picnics. You can bring some leftover bread to feed the ducks- look for ducklings during the warmer months. If you're the exercise type, this park has great paths for smooth running with some inclines along the way to "kick up" your regiment. Of course there's the quintessential items: basketball courts, volleyball, and bathrooms. The one downfall is parking. While there are spaces located around the perimeter of the park grounds, during peak times (weekends and sports) I notice a lot of folks parking across the street in the residential areas along empty streets. Great place for pets (bring a leash), families, friends, or just a way to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy day life. I believe this is a sister park to Freestone, which hosts some cool events. read more

Beautiful park! There are small ponds and plenty of walking paths. They even have well lit basketball and sand volleyball courts! Often packed on the weekends due to youth sports. Only cons are that the walking paths are super dark at night (wouldn't feel comfotable going alone) and I wish they had an area for dogs to go off the leash. read more

My daughter and I go here all the time and make the ducks really happy by giving them plenty of snacks. The ducks are pretty tame as they will swim write up to you and almost eat from your hand... Almost. There is plenty of parking unless there are a bunch of soccer games going on but otherwise very pretty fields and good scenery read more

I would give it 5 stars but when the playground is so small and it's play area is so limited. I have kids and they have full of energy. It would be great if the Park gets some remodeled or upgraded playground for kids age 10 years old and below. This is the closes Park to our house but now we have to drive to Queens Creek to Mansel Carter Oasis Park which is an AMAZING and brand new. We love it!!!! read more

Huge park! Well-lit and well-used after dark. Beautifully maintained. A few large ramadas spaced out through the park. I love that walking paths weave throughout the park as well as circle the perimeter; you can go for a long walk and get a little bit of a change of scenery by switching paths. My daughter has fun feeding the ducks in the large pond. Minus one star just because the play area is small and doesn't have much to it. read more

I love to come to this park. It has plenty of beautiful trees and water features with a walkway around the park area. They even stock the pond with fish! There are usually lots of ducks, and if you go during the warmer months you will see water turtles in the pond too. Great park with an amazing view of the Mormon temple.
