Not just "hyped", dishoom deserves the recognition! SERVICE Amazing service, easy to make reservations online, and easy to check in and get seated once your entire party has arrived. INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. It'll definitely be a hit in your books!
This was a difficult restaurant to rate... If you like good spicy food, I think it deserves at least four stars. But I would give the service one star. They told us it would be an approximately 30 minute wait for outdoor seating, and so we sat at the bar. When they finally came for us about 40 minutes later, they said they did not have a seat outside and it might be much longer. When we asked how much longer, she said she had to go check. And then she said it was a miracle, but an outdoor table opened up. It must've been a big miracle, cause there was at least another table outside open. My sister and I placed our orders, and the waiter said we had ordered a very small amount of food, and that we really should consider ordering more. She made specific suggestions on what we should add to our order. Since my sister and I had had a fairly substantial lunch and only wanted a lighter dinner, we thought we were good. And we told her that. But she still pushed harder about ordering more food. I really felt like they were trying to upsell us. But we left it as it was. The food came out... we had a starter of fried okra. It was marvelous! My sister had ordered chicken tikka masala, and I had the lamb chops. The lamb chops were incredibly tender, but I did not expect to find them as spicy as they were. However, I like spicy food so they were good. My sister is not a big fan of spicy food, and as she took a bite of her chicken, she almost spat it out. She cried out spicy spicy, and I knew we were in trouble. We flagged down our waiter and ordered some raita. Our waiter never came back to check on us. When she picked up the dishes at the end, she asked my sister if she did not like the chicken, and my sister told her it was too spicy. The waiter told her next time she should order something different. I was just not very happy with how we were treated there.
We came here on a Friday night after looking at yelp reviews. It was close to our hotel and there was a little bit of a wait. So we sat at the bar. My dining companion ordered a margarita that came straight up with a smoky paprika, sort of rim. I ordered the Mojito. They make their own Mojito mix and it was exceptional. Just a little hint of mint, but the excellent drink. Our bartender did not steer us wrong. We sat outside and ordered the okra appetizer, tikka masala, lamb chops and naan. Our wait staff said we were ordering a very small amount of food. I thought it should be enough, as we had a large lunch. She was kind of insistent, but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. The fried okra was amazing. It was like french fries but with okra. There's just a hint of spice very very crunchy and delicious. The rest of our meal came. I really should have asked about the spice level, but I did not. The menu didn't say my dish was spicy, but it was far too spicy for me. Since our wait staff did not come back to check on us there was not much I could do. However, I did flagged down another waiter and asked for some raita. This helped but I don't like the burn so I was pretty much done eating at that point. My sister's lamb chops were very tasty but overcooked for my preference. But we weren't asked how she wanted her lamb chops so there you go. I bet this is a phenomenal restaurant if you like a high level of heat. And maybe on a night when they weren't so busy and the wait staff stretched so thin. I will say I thought the cocktails were exceptional. And our bartender was great. I would really give it a 2.5 but there are no half star so I'm rounding up
Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Dishoom Shoreditch is conveniently located near a bus stop. Dining is available both indoors or outdoors in the covered seating area. Service was attentive by the staff. Started off with the chai and it was decent. I think their chai used to be more fragrant. Moved on to the wrestler's naan and it was gigantic featuring freshly baked naan cream cheese, ketchup, eggs, streaky bacon, along with sausages. The wrap was a touch hard to eat too! The restaurant was 20% full during a weekday breakfast. The restaurant was offering some type of loyalty card at checkout. Paying is done via QR code and credit card...which leads me to ask the question...what is the 12.5% service charge for then?!?
Dishoom absolutely delivers on flavor. Every dish we tried had depth, heat, and that layered spice that lingers in the best way. The prawns were good, perfectly cooked with bold, punchy seasoning. My biggest recommendation: go big with your ordering. This isn't the kind of place where you stick to one or two plates. The magic really happens when you try a wide variety and share everything around the table. It's much better suited for larger groups than a small, quiet dinner for two. Service was solid, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe is lively, energetic, and fun. It feels like a place meant for conversation and passing plates back and forth. Only minor knock: oddly enough, the toilets weren't as clean or as vibey as the rest of the restaurant, which felt a little off-brand given how polished everything else is. That said, 100% worth the visit. Go hungry, bring friends, and order more than you think you need.

Dishoom is always a go-to while in London. Everything is so flavorful, so fresh and so delicious. The restaurant has such a great energy and is always lively. The staff is friendly and attentive. I do recommend a reservation as I have never seen it not busy. This restaurant is also a great option if you have vegetarian/vegan folks in your group as the menu has something for everyone. My personal go-tos - chai tea, house black daal, and the chicken ruby. I highly recommend Dishoom if you are in London!
Came on a Friday night without a reservation, and only had to wait 20 min for a table for two. Loved the large NA drink menu. The matcha sour was great. Food was good. Menu was really large, which was nice, and the server was helpful in navigating it. Would recommend.
Dishoom had been on our list for weeks leading up to our recent trip. We were able to grab the last walk in table available just before 6pm. The food was mouth watering and oh, so delicious. The chicken ruby was the star of the show, though it did not have much chicken. I would suggest adding more chicken. They recommend that you order 3-4 things and split them amongst 2 people and that is what we did. The interior was very nice and the vibes were high. It was very crowded! We would go back tomorrow if we could! Looking forward to when it expands to the US.
I've really been looking forward to finally being able to give Dishoom a try! I walked-in around 6:30 on a Monday and was quoted around a 20 min wait time (solo dining this time) -- there's a nice bar area for customers to wait and order some drinks/snacks. Ultimately I managed to get seated just around the estimated 20 min :) Per my server's recommendation, I ordered the chicken ruby with garlic naan, and it was definitely a great choice. I loved the depth of the curry flavour, a wonderful balance of umami, creaminess and the (just-right level of) spicy-ness. The meat was so tender and juicy, and very well-infused with the rich curry flavour. The garlic naan, light and fluffy, was a lovely complement to the heavier flavours of the curry (but I wish it had more of a garlicky taste). I also ordered a mango and fennel lassi to drink, which was yummy. The mango flavour was crisp and fresh, and I liked that it wasn't too sweet nor was the texture too thick. I did not taste much of the fennel though. Portion sizes were not bad -- I think it's definitely a higher-end restaurant and the prices reflect that. I'm really looking forward to my next visit already to try some other fantastic dish off their fairly-extensive menu.
Came to Dishoom in Shoreditch with no reservation and expected a long wait, but it wasn't too bad. We hung out at the bar and the bartender recommended their special drink, which ended up being amazing. I ordered the murgh malai and the chicken ruby and both were so flavorful and comforting. The garlic naan was okay but it didn't have much of a garlic taste, so that was the only thing I wasn't obsessed with. Overall the experience was great. The vibe is lively but still cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive even with the crowd. I would definitely come back.
Had reservations for lunch at this place. Have seen the long lines at the other locations. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Sat downstairs. Was a little noisy and loud here so it was hard to hear our waitresses response and recommendations. We had the chicken biryani, the chef special - Prawn Pathia, the moan monkfish curry and the vegetarian samosas. Also ordered some naan. The sauce on the Prawn Pathia was so good. The prawns were well marinated and tasted great. The sauce had a spice to it and as well as some tang - tasted like chutney. We needed the extra naan for this and the curry. Fish curry was delicious- the first couple of spoons you could taste the tanginess of the curry but the coconut milk rendered a nice sweet ending. The vegetable samosas came with some chutneys/sayces. Our favorite was the coriander and mint: so refreshing. Definitely coming back next time I'm in London.
Amazing Indian restaurant on the pricer side but worth it. You can't make reservations but you can wait in line. They give you complimentary drinks while you wait and the line moves fast. They then let you get a drink in the bar area while you wait. The atmosphere is super cool and fun. The service from the waiter to the hostess was fantastic. Very attentive and knowledgeable. They have multiple locations as well. Def worth a stop!

Came to the Shoreditch location since it was the only spot we could get a reservation and avoid long lines. The service is quick and the host and waitress were all very nice. I asked for the keychain which I received but we couldn't play the matka game that day. I ordered the ruby red chicken with naan and my sister ordered the paneer roll. The roll ended up being way too spicy. The winner dish were the okra fries. We enjoyed them so much! The place wasn't that packed because we had picked it for lunch so service was quick. I liked the Indian decorations and vibes. Although I would like to try more Dishoom locations in the future, I don't understand the hype of this chain of restaurants. The food is pretty average but the experience is what makes it worthwhile. read more
Unfortunately, this restaurant was a disappointment for us. I added Dishoom to our list of restaurants to check out while in London after I came across the fact that it had so many good reviews (across multiple locations). It is definitely a vibe; highly recommend making a reservation if you want to get in timely. We had gone on weekday evening around 6pm and it was busy; walk-ins were given an estimate of about 1 hour for a table. We were seated about 15-20ish minutes after our reservation time. My husband and I were dining, and we ended up getting the pau bhaji, makhmali paneer, chicken ruby, and a roomali roti. As someone who has had a lot of pau bhaji at different restaurants, this variation wasn't my favorite. It had a very strong amount of spice but it was somehow bland. It needed something more, including butter. The paneer was nice and soft but the sauce they had drizzled over tasted more like a pesto. The ruby chicken was very tender, not too spicy, a nice change given how spicy the pau bhaji was. The curry was thick and creamy, and the roomali roti was pretty good. Service was okay, they didn't have any chai when we ordered it but they brought it out to us later when it was ready. Overall, I think maybe my expectations were too high going into it. read more
At least five of my friends recommended dining at Dishoom in London, so I made a reservation for the Shoreditch location the week before my trip. Since I visited around the holidays, I reserved the Winter Feast meal, which included a 3-course prix fixe menu. The first course included: new keema pau (similar to a lamb "sloppy joe"), okra fries, and bhel (puffed rice dish). Everything was excellent - I especially loved the festive touches of pomegranate that topped the bhel puri. The second course included: sheekh kabab, paneer curry, biryani, black daal, fresh vegetables, raita, and naan. Everything was superb; however, the meat dishes were quite heavy, and we couldn't finish everything (as hard as we tried). The standout for me was the paneer - I sopped up every ounce of sauce with the naan. For dessert, we had a choice among three flavors of kulfi pops, which were a sweet and refreshing way to end the meal. The food and service was overall excellent, although the restaurant itself was too dark and noisy to have a conversation with the people at my table. The food was worth a second visit, and perhaps we'd try another one of Dishoom's locations. read more

THIS RESTAURANT MAY RUIN YOUR TRIP If you begin your culinary journey here, you may well find the rest of your holiday dining rather a let-down -- the food was nothing short of exquisite. I ordered a single sabji with a cheese naan and savoured every morsel as though it were my very first encounter with Indian cuisine. The experience was elevated by Jonathan, my waiter, who might just be the most charming and courteous gentleman I've ever met in a restaurant. He shared a bit of Dishoom's history, guided me through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, confirmed my dietary requirements, and made spot-on recommendations. He was endlessly attentive -- refilling my water without prompting, providing little sweets at the end, and offering mouth fresheners with the sort of grace one might expect from an old friend rather than a stranger. Whether this is standard Dishoom etiquette, a hallmark of Jonathan himself, or simply the British way of doing things, I couldn't say -- but it set the bar impossibly high for the rest of my trip. read more

Dishoom is a must stop if you're visiting London. Their menu is loaded to the brim with various selections and it is recommended that your group share a few dishes. Unfortunately, dishoom does not have a full service menu at the bar, so make sure to put your name on the list. I was able to enjoy their chicken Ruby, which is one of their signature dishes. I also paired the entree with garlic naan. You have to order the naan separate here! The dish was perfect for one person, although I probably could've eaten a second one. Who's to judge (haha). What I enjoyed the most about this restaurant was the atmosphere- they were burning incense and you also got to take a look in to the kitchen (if you go downstairs) read more

What can I say- AMAZING food! Their lamb biryani and Vada Pav is so good! A bit on the spicier side but if you can handle medium heat, you are fine! We tried the house daal which was not spicy at all so perfect for our little one to eat with rice. The staff is so cordial and helpful! read more
I know it is not authentic Indian food but this place is literally perfection. Top notch service, well curated drinks, great food and good for every type of occasion. The Ruby chicken will forever be my favorite, it is basically their take on tikka masala. So rich and creamy pairs beautifully with the rice and naan. It was my first time having their samosas, not traditional it's presented in smaller phyllo triangle shape. Still very good and flavorful. 3 was definitely a smaller app, I could eat 10 of those. My waitress was phenomenal she got me in and out. They don't do reservations so expect to wait a bit. Best to do an early or late dinner. This is ultimately my petition to get Dishoom to NYC! read more
I have been obsessed with Dishoom ever since I ate them for the first time years ago. It's super popular and everyone I talk to whether they are from here or visiting London seem to know it. Also evidenced by the fact that there was a 1 hour wait to get a table. They serve you chai and lemonade while you are in line which makes up for the wait...a little. The wait was 30 minutes in line and then got seated at the bar and another 30 minutes there before getting a table. Super good service, ambiance, and the food is delectable. I don't wait for an hour at any restaurant except for this one. read more
Food: excellent and well seasoned. We ordered a large variety. Started with their garlic and cheese naan. Also got Vegetable samosas. Also had their grilled shrimp and chicken dishes ( similar butter chicken) and chili chicken. All very tasty. Price was matching their portion size. Staff: everyone was quick to help and provide refills on drinks. Ambiance: this location was very popular. We only waited about 10 minutes at the bar. We arrived around 9:00pm. read more

When I was in London, many local and foreign friends recommended Dishoom as a must-try for Indian cuisine. I went to the CBD location near Liverpool station around 8 pm and waited over 30 minutes because it was so busy. The receptionist didn't communicate clearly, but once we sat down, the service improved. The food was very tasty and authentic. However, my stomach didn't handle it well the next day... read more

Dishoom has at least 5 locations in London, so I have no idea why all of them have crazy wait times. If you must eat here, booking a reservation is the way to go to save time. We went here for breakfast. The house chai and bacon and egg naan were decent but also forgettable. Indian food is usually very flavorful but this place leaned towards bland. Service is also just okay. Honestly, I expected more from Indian cuisine in London. This place must be a tourist trap from all the hype. read more

Modern Indian cuisine in London, what a treat. You can get Indian food anywhere in the city, but I wanted to try "the best." Dishoom lives up to its hype by somehow being cozy and elevated. Foods that don't feel indulgent, everything was flavorful and the perfect mix of flavors. Service had nothing that was lacking. For my first time, I relied on the recommendations of the server to pick out my meal, very easy. I'm so glad we came and would recommend anyone to try it out. read more

I had made a reservation for 2:30-3:00 pm on a weekday. It was so busy when we got there but got seated immediately. I'm giving it 4 stars because the samosas tasted dry and the espresso martini was super small. My paneer kathi roll was good. read more
We did not have reservations, there was quite a bit of a wait. However, you move through the line and then they take you into the bar area where you can sit with your friends. Have a few drinks while you wait. Then you are moved to your table. The menu has something for everyone. We got a main meal as an appetizer since we had like six of us. It was more of a vegetarian dish with some naan and it was very good. The boys absolutely loved the chicken Ruby! But I think the monkfish was the winner. I absolutely loved it. I was the only person that was able to finish it. And let me tell you by the time you get over halfway through that heat continues to build, but it is absolutely delicious. It's just you sweating and determined to finish it off lol. Super cool on the inside! You would never think you are in a place that is actually a small chain. We had a small issue with the waitress, but overall, it was a great experience and I would go back in a heartbeat! We had an interim server that was fantastic! The food was absolutely legit. I do not remember the name of the dish my buddy got, it was very rice heavy with chicken. Overall, the least dish of the group, although he said it was good. He did have buyers remorse after he tried the different dishes that we got. read more

I was super excited to try Dishoom, as Indian is one of my favorite cuisines and it came recommended by a few colleagues. Waited in line against my better judgment for a little over an hour on a Monday evening in September. Staff did greet us fairly quickly (I was a party of one but speaking for those in line near me, too) and they were diligent in providing a nice cup of hot masala chai or mint tea. Once my name was called, I was ushered into the bar to wait...some more. It's a very lively spot, and would be a nice spot to hang at the bar. I ordered a cocktail and the bartender was really lovely and engaging, and the dill gin cocktail I had was nice and refreshing. The cocktail menu looked super creative but by this point I was starving. Ordered the Fried Okra which was really nice. Shared them with others at the bar as it was sizable portion. Once I was directed to my table, service was curt and not very attentive (even for London standards). I was considering ordering a glass of wine but my server never came back after I ordered my food (about 30 seconds after I sat down) except once I finally was able to flag her down to settle the bill. I ordered the Black Daal (one of my favorite dishes and highly recommended as their specialty) alongside basmati rice and garlic naan. The food was fine: nothing to wait in line for at all. It's essentially Indian food for white people, and disappointing compared to other Indian I've had around town. When I discuss Dishoom with my Indian friends, they agree it is overhyped. If there weren't a crazy line, I'd love to go back for a few cocktails and appetizers but I wouldn't wait for over an hour for the opportunity. Too many excellent cocktail spots in London. Definitely a hype machine made famous by social media and folks who want Indian-light when it comes to spice and spicy. read more
This place is the real deal! When I saw their location in Covent Garden, I first thought this restaurant was a tourist trap, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The food is fantastic. The Shoreditch location is really special, with beautifully designed decor and a feel that reminds me so much of my time in India! Everything is delicious but some of my favorites were the daal (this is a must get!) , the chicken tikka roll, and the milk punch! And definitely try the sauces on the side :) I'd recommend getting a reservation or arriving around 4pm so there's no wait! The wait times can get very long here. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dishoom. I spent a long weekend in London and visited twice, it was SO good. I didn't get any pics from my first trip, where I had the Butter Chicken (outstanding) and the Chicken Berry Britannia (good but dry). Second visit I had the lamb chops and black daal, both were delicious. This is a must have when in London. Be prepared for a little wait but great service. read more

What an absolutely lovely experience this was. We were recommended Dishoom by several friends and we weren't disappointed in the slightest. The atmosphere and food were unmatched, and we couldn't have been happier with everything we tried. We shared all of the dishes we ordered, including the monkfish, chicken Ruby, chilli chicken, and okra fries, and of course we had to get a side of the garlic naan. The chocolate chai was something I hadn't seen offered on a menu before, but as a big fan of dark chocolate I had to try it. It was tremendous. We will be back as soon as possible to try more. read more

I had to go to Dishoom after hearing so much about it. We decided to go for breakfast since they don't take reservations and I hate waiting . It was a fun way to start the day and the food and atmosphere were both really good. I had a couple of fried eggs with cilantro on cheesy toast (Kejtiwal )and a side of bacon. I didn't want to eat all day after that. The people next to us had big, puffy poori that looked delicious. Very attractive and fun place. Waiter was good. I'd say go! read more

London is known for excellent Indian food, and Dishoom certainly did not disappoint. You're going to need a reservation though (especially on a weekend night), because we just walked in, and even at 8pm we ended up navigating multiple tiers of waiting before we sat down. Should you be like us and not have a res, you will have the pleasure of waiting in a few different ways. One, you'll wait in a line outside. Someone will give you a time estimate, which will seem doable. This time estimate is...a guess. Once you get to the front of the outside line, you get inside...and get escorted to the bar area where you get to wait some more. However, you can order drinks and apps, and they are very good about walking around and taking orders. You ALMOST feel like you have a table, but not yet. Not everything is available for order here, but definitely enough to start your meal off right. The food is worth every minute of the wait. We really liked the cocktails we started with (if you like a good Old Fashioned, get this one), and the house black daal (a must get), chicken ruby, garlic naan, lamb samosas, and keema pau all had tons of flavor and were all all things I'd order again. Oh, and if you think you're too full for dessert...nonsense. GET THE MANGO. That's all I will say. read more
