I've been obsessed with Indian food lately so last time I was in London I needed to try this locals popular spot. Casual spot with vibrant atmosphere. Bold Indian-inspired flavors. The dishes were packed with depth and richness. Our server was helpful explaining the menu and suggesting dishes. Some of our favorite courses were the house black daal, okra fries, Butter chicken and garlic naan. They also have a creative drink menu with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. The chai tea is delicious! The place can get busy so I strongly suggest reservation but they are also walk-in friendly. Please come to New York!!
My favorite place in London, possibly the world. Saw on "Somebody Feed Phil" and knew I had to stop in next time I was in the city. Came with family and got a table in the sun room. Will never forget our experience. Staff was incredibly kind and helped make suggestions and made our 3 year old's experience great too. The food was incredible! From small shareable plates to larger curry plates. So so so so good. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a great spot in London.
Dishoom continues to be my most favorite stop when I am in London. My favorite has to be the Goa fish curry and the chicken biryani. Also the lamb chops are not to be missed. Service is amazing always, we were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night. ambiance is nice. Clean and nicely decorated. Can't wait to come back and can't wait for Dishoom Las Vegas to open!
Really good, lives up to the hype! We didn't have a reservation but stopped but stopped by around noon and were seated immediately. They almost seated us at a table with sofas (living room style) but we asked to move to a table and they were able to accommodate. If my memory serves, I think we ordered the carnaby special, house black daal, chicken ruby, and chili chicken. I can't remember why the waffle style chips were called (or if it was complimentary) but those were really good! A fun way to try out all the different sauces. Everything we ordered was delicious but our favorite would have to be the ruby chicken, it's the closest thing to butter chicken. The other 2 curries were also rich in flavor. I really liked their chili chicken, but my bf thought it was too spicy to handle. Overall it was an amazing meal and I can't wait for it to open in NYC when I visit!
This place was phenomenal. If I could teleport to any restaurant, it'd be this Dishoom. We made reservations so we were seated fairly quickly. Note that the inside is quite tight and the tables are very close together. We ordered garlic naan and it was so dang good. The fresh pieces of garlic were perfection. We also ordered the chicken Ruby and - wow. The chicken was perfectly tender. The sauce was so flavorful and delicious. I still haven't stopped thinking about it months later. Highly recommend this spot!
This was my second time eating at Dishoom, and while I enjoyed it the first time, this time was even better because we weren't as jetlagged this time around. But definitely make a reservation because it's a popular spot amongst all of their locations and it fills up quick. We got The dishoom margarita - you'll like this if you like really sweet drinks! And the spice on the side also gives it a good kick. Kingfisher - this was such a clean mild beer, like I can see this being a good way to get into beers if you don't like them Basmati rice - pretty standard rice, but make sure you know which dishes come with what because you probably will need to order rice on the side. Naan - the garlic naan is obviously more flavorful and delicious than the plain. But when paired with all of the flavorful food, you can't really tell as much so honestly I would probably just get the plain next time to save some money. Chote papad with mango chutney - the mango chutney is really good! The sweetness and spiciness is balanced really well, and it's served with a crispy chip like papad. Methi gosht and paratha (1/2 plate, Chef's Carnaby Special) - I might prefer the paratha over the naan! It has more of a chewy texture to it. The curry had a little bit of a kick but was also pretty sweet. We definitely could have gone for a full plate though. And I really liked the cucumbers and onions, it was super refreshing and clean amongst all the strong flavors at the table. Dishoom chicken tikka - this was one of my favorites purely because it was more my level of spice. Where so far everything else just had a kick, this gave a little more of a burn - enough to make your nose run a little but not enough to make your tongue suffer. Gunpowder potatoes - really good potatoes, but also pretty standard potatoes. The lemon and white sauce are so so good in making them lighter and I wish they gave more white sauce. Because it could do with being even lighter. With all the curries and naans and rice, idk that having potatoes on the side is my favorite. While they're good, everything just feels really heavy, and I'd rather just get something more refreshing. Chicken ruby - I feel like this is the dish that everyone really gets. And I can see why! Super creamy, sweet, and flavorful, it's kind of similar to butter chicken. The food comes out pretty quickly and the workers are so friendly. And I love the little mango candies they bring out along with the bill.
I feel like I've thought about Dishoom at least once a day ever since trying it during my most recent trip to London. This is a rite of passage for tourists and there are multiple locations across London to check out so you have many opportunities to try it! We waited about ~30 minutes and another group waiting in line said it was "worth the wait" and they weren't wrong. There were only 2 of us and we feasted like queens. You must get the okra fries, chili cheese toast, ruby chicken (this is THE dish), and chili broccoli salad. If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the kulfi which is pretty much like ice cream but in a popsicle. We also had the methi gosht and paratha along with the gunpowder potatoes, but that isn't anything to write home about. The service was friendly and efficient. The actual restaurant itself has darker/dimmed lighting inside and I felt like we had to use our flash to look at the menus (or maybe our eyes are just that old). Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend coming here at least once during your trip to London. To be honest, at one point, we were thinking about going back again for a second time.
Delicious! Probably one of the best Indian places we've had. First time trying and despite being a chain, it was great. Service was attentive. We sat at the bar before moving into the dining area. Unfortunate that during the transition between the bar and restaurant, the refillable chai wasn't brought over. Just know that your chai is bottomless :)
Dishoom is a must visit when you are in London! The vibe here is so cool. We came for breakfast and I believe you can make reservations here but walk ins are ok too. Sometimes the lines get long but it moves fast. Their house chai is an absolute must and it is bottomless! They have the recipe right at the entrance. Naan rolls are super yummy, we tired sausage naan roll. Luckily our timing was a transition between breakfast and all day dining so I also got to try Vada pav which is probably the best Vada pav I have ever had! I can't wait to go back and try rest of all day dining.
IYKYK, Indian food in the UK is a must! It was so hard to decide where but my friends and the internet recommended we try Dishoom. Oh my gosh this place is so dang good! Reservations are a must because this is one of the most popular places to get Indian cuisine in London. We arrived before our reservations and sat at the bar. Once our table was ready, we were seated. The restaurant is quite massive. The bar is reminiscent of a typical pub--dark, cozy, old school. As you walk into the dining side it's bright, lots of plants and art, and mismatched tables and chairs for ranging party sizes. Service is fantastic, all of our waitresses are kind, accommodating, and fun to chat to. Everyone who helped us were efficient. We shared family style, ordering the Chef's Caranby Special, Makmali Paneer, Chicken Ruby, House Black Daal, Garlic Naan, and Basmati Rice. Hands down, my favorite curry was the black daal. It is so freaking addicting--creamy, rich, and delicious. The other curries were superb with a hint of spice, plenty of seasoning, and decent meat portions. Our starches were all great accompaniments. For dessert, they had some of the Coconutty Fruit Crumble. I took a bite and the crumble was good--sweet, coconutty, and filled with fruit. I decided to order a House Chai with Oat Milk. It was one of the best chais and a mixture of all the goodness--sweet, spicy, bold, and creamy. Dishoom is a well loved restaurant chain in England. Their Caranby location is off Kingly, which is a walking only path. Make reservations in advance! By the time we left there were at least 40 people waiting outside because it's that good. A true must try when visiting or living in London.
Dishoom was definitely one of the most recommended restaurants for us to try when we were in London for our first time, and I'm glad to say that it did not disappoint! We made a reservation for lunch at this location (Carnaby) on a Monday and it wasn't too busy at all when we arrived. The interior is a bit dark but part of the main dining area does open up to a bright and well-lit section which was nice during the daytime. We started with the okra fries and pau bhaji, both of which were super flavorful! For the pau bhaji, the combo of the somewhat spicy mashed vegetables with the buttery buns was an absolute delight. Then for the main courses, my fiance and I shared the black daal and the methi gosht with paratha (which is the cafe special at the Carnaby location). Both dishes were fantastic, and we definitely used up all of the paratha to soak up the curries. All in all, what a delicious meal and I'll absolutely be back again if I'm in London in the future!
We were super glad to have made a reservation for an early Tuesday dinner. 30 mins after we were seated at 5:30PM, the whole place was packed and a queue had begun forming outside in the street. The restaurant is comfortable but feels small and cosy. We had a super friendly server who offered a great tour of the menu, and gave us some advice on how to order for 2 people. Well, the choices were excellent, but we did end up with wayyyyy too much food, so be careful overestimating your appetites! To kick things off, the Chota Papad was a fun, 3D-take on the poppadom, and came with great chutneys. We enjoyed the Carnaby Chef's Special, Methi Gosht with paratha; super tender lamb and great warmth. It's offered in a half-portion if needed. However, the top dish for us was the Chicken Ruby. To this homecoming Brit, it felt like a "proper" curry and had a lovely nostalgia of high street Indian restaurants of the 90s. We were talked into adding a small plate, and really loved the Fish Amritsari - but this, plus a roti, took the volume of food over the top for us, so we were sad to walk away from the leftovers. Next time, I'd stick with one entree, one small plate and the magical hexagonal poppadom bites. Dishoom deserves its accolades, and this particular location is highly recommended for a laid back, comfortable and welcoming experience.
Dishoom has been on my list to try in London, and I'm so glad I went. Even on a Thursday evening there was a crowd of people queuing up before they opened. My mom and I typically always order the same things whenever we go to Indian restaurants: chicken tikka masala, naan, and basmati rice. So that's exactly what we ordered - except the chicken tikka masala here at Dishoom is called the chicken ruby. The chicken was super tender and flavorful, the naan was buttery, and the curry was prefect on the rice. Do note that the restaurant gets quite nosy and is a bit dark, so not great for photos, but all in all, great experience.
Service: amazing service very kind and patient. My father said a racist joke and they still were kind. The service here is honestly kind of slow it took them quickly to take 1 thing out but than didn't come back for like half an hour kind of disappointing, but hey they were pretty packed. Food: I ordered the lamb chops and the spicy curry with garlic bread. I really loved the curry and the bread. It was an amazing two things to put together. The curry was supposed to be spicy, but it wasn't that spicy, but it worked well. The bread probably helped with the spice though and my drink. My father enjoyed the Trini chicken and the chili chicken. It was really nice and he enjoyed the true essence of Bombay spicy food. My sister ordered the lamb chops. She thought they were kind of charcoal tasting, and the chicken tikka had a bit of spice if you're not looking for any spice, don't get it. My brothers food was chicken and it was not distinguished on the menu as spicy. He was caught off guard by the amount of spice contained in it although it was Indian food just beware of that. He had to gargle down four water bottles. The sides of rice were very nice and he was glad they added a lemon to deal with the spice. Just caught him off guard a little bit. I thought that the bathrooms required me to go past the kitchen, which delighted me because I got to see the inside of the restaurant industry, which was very entertaining and busy. There was a long wait, but the staff provided drinks outside and allowed me to order some snacks at the bar Which delighted me. The lamb chops were cooked deliciously and had a little bit of spice in addition to the provided sauces, which delighted me. And finally, the soup that I ordered was not delicious. However, the rest of the meal made up for it. Fantastic. And I must applaud the restaurant for using Florida Keyna a wonderful choice of rum. It delighted me. Overall a delight time and experience with the family and a great meal, I recommend the experience if you like Indian food or want something different. read more
Was beyond excited to try Dishoom, as it was my first time in London and I knew Indian was ironically enough one of the best represented cuisines in the UK. I'd been recommended Dishoom, and I came prepared to try all the signature dishes and drinks. The curries were honestly nothing special. It obviously wasn't bad, but I felt it was too salty most of the time, and the small serving sizes and the lack of sufficient complimentary naan/rice for the price were off-putting. The chicken ruby in particular felt overrated. One thing that isn't is the black dahl, as I am a lentil lover and I can easily eat multiple orders of that dish myself. Cocktails, lassis, and the ambiance were all 10/10, however. Great experience overall, but the food just didn't reach my expectations by a tiny bit. read more

Make a reservation and just go for a bit of an early dinner, best way to avoid the lines. That said, it's so worth whatever that wait is. Having been to other Dishooms, this one feels the same, the menu's consistent, it's great. I love their Keema pau to start and then have to get a chicken ruby. Can pair that chicken ruby with a grilled item or two or some daal. The one thing Dishoom doesn't really do perfectly is cocktails. They're fine but I've never been overly excited about the cocktails. But who needs 'em, spend the time eating food not drinking! read more

Popped over at 6pm on a Saturday as a party of 1. There was already a line forming but it wasn't bad at all! We were given a complimentary glass of hot chai tea while we waited (nice touch). Once you get inside, you're given a buzzer and encouraged to get a drink at the bar. I'm not a big drinker but they had a lot of unique cocktails so why not! The bartender was very nice and helpful and I was seated within 10 minutes of hanging at the bar -- nice! It was unfortunate I was alone bc I wanted to try many dishes but had to be mindful. Very hungry, I ordered the lamb samosas as a starter, and the chicken ruby with plain naan. My waiter was great and he mentioned that this restaurant concept incorporates Iranian influences. I thought that was cool being from LA (big population in Orange County) and thought perhaps that's why a lot of my favorite Indian dishes were not on the menu (such as saag paneer and saag alloo). Given my limited experience of the menu, I just thought it was okay. The samosas were pretty thin philo dough w/ ground lamb that tasted more like beef. The chicken ruby was nice but didn't stand out to me (basically tikka masala if you had to compare). The naan, although I saw it being made in house downstairs, was also nothing to write home about and dry flavorless (no butter or whatever others were mentioning on their reviewed). I'm grateful to have the experience, and would for sure come again, but will make sure I dine with others so I can try a variety of dishes and have a better formulated opinion. Let me just start this review with one word: Perfection . That is the only way that you can describe Dishoom. The food, interior, location, and people are all amazing. See I've never been the biggest fan of Indian food but being reintroduced to this genre of food through Dishoom has really changed my perspective. Every dish from here was quite literally amazing, it was so great that I could literally name my future child after the food. The House Black Dahl, Chicken Ruby, Lamb Chops, Basmati rice, cheese and garlic naan, and the chocolate pudding with Kashmiri chili ice cream was really unique. Just walking into the restaurant I instantly had high hopes as I caught amazing scents of dishes. While waiting to be seated there is also outdoor and indoor seating where you are served some drinks and appetizers liked he Okra fries which are delicious. The staff was also super kind giving advice on what food to order and even helping my family and I find some outdoor seating while waiting to be seated in the restaurant. While eating the seating arrangements and interior was quite cozy and beautiful with lots of space to serve so many groups. This restaurant is absolutely perfect, I will literally be coming back to London just for Dishoom and I cannot wait for a location to be opened in New York. Overall I'd give this place a 10 out of 10 that I definitely recommend. read more
This place truly wow'd me. We walked into a huge line and thought we'd be waiting for at least an hour outside in the cold but within 5 minutes we were handed a hot cup of their delicious house chai and within 10 we were moved to the bar where the bartender helped us pick out our cocktails by preference. Every dish was incredible and the decor created such an edgey/spiritual vibe in the place. I loved it here, no wonder it's so popular! read more

Food is phenomenal and lives up to the hype. Come with a reservation or you're waiting for two hours plus. The restaurant is huge and so uniquely designed. Great vibe. Service was very good even though they are packed. I would definitely come again if I'm in London again. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! That's all I can say about Dishoom! Highly recommended restaurant that it's a must stop when you're in London! Every single dish was made to perfection! The mango chicken salad was one of my favorite dish. The chicken was so tender & juicy, the mango slices was added to the dish to make it even better, but the dressing was to die for! The fried okras was also my next favorite dish, fried to perfection. There was also a dish recommended by the waiter it was a curry chicken dish that I didn't even have a chance to take a picture of it because I couldn't stop myself from eating it all. It was a tomatoey based with a hint of curry in the dish. Taking my garlic nan and dipping into the sauce was just pure perfect! I would love to come back to dishoom to try many other dish they have to offer read more

Amazing experience! Our server, Didi, was fantastic--super helpful and attentive, making our meal even better. The food here is absolutely top-tier--very, very good! Every bite was worth it. I did have to wait about 30 minutes, but honestly, it was well worth it. If you don't want to wait, I'd recommend making a reservation. But even if you do have to wait, trust me--the food makes it 100% worth it! Must recommend! read more

can't lie, i always thought dishoom was being overhyped, but it was soooo good!!!! there was a bit of a line (as expected) so my group and i split up to make the wait time shorter. overall ambience was cute, but the music was so loud it felt like i was in a club, not at a restaurant. initially, my group ordered three dry dishes, and our waiter was kind enough to point us to the chicken ruby, which is a tikka masala (not just a tikka). it was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. the biryani we ordered was also super sapid! i would say portion sizes are quite small for the price you're paying. read more
Nearly 14 years ago, Dishoom changed the culinary landscape in London in regards to Indian food. Their combination of traditional homestyle cooking mixed with a vibrant yet retro décor plus expertly crafted cocktails proved to be a winning recipe that now has made them a staple throughout the country. Naturally, we had to order a smorgasbord to sample a little bit of everything. For Small Plates, we started with their signature Okra Fries in addition to Lamb Samosas and the Chili Chicken. I've never been a big okra fan but that all changed with one bite. Crispy, spicy, crunchy, savory - everything you could ask for in a single bite. Easily the star of the appetizers. For the Main Courses, we ordered the Murgh Malai, Chicken Ruby and the Chef's Special Salli Boti. The Murgh Malai was some of the most tender and flavorful chicken thighs I've ever had in my life. They weren't kidding when they said they marinate it overnight in garlic, ginger, coriander and cream. Couldn't get enough so we ordered a second portion. The Chicken Ruby is as similar to a Butter Chicken as they offer which makes it incredibly popular and rightfully so - it was quite delicious. Salli Boti is their take on a Parsi classic. Braised lamb in a rich and flavorful sauce served with buttered Roomali Roti. It's cliché to recommend the Chef's Special, but it's worth it. Last but not least - dessert. How could I not order the Basmati Kheer (rice pudding). Silky smooth caramelized basmati rice pudding cooked in a vanilla infused coconut milk topped with a blueberry compote. The perfect way to end the meal along with some tea, of course. read more
My friends hyped up Dishoom so much I didn't know if it would meet my expectations... I'm pleased to say it definitely did! Every dish was so flavorful without it being too salty, sweet, or spicy. The chicken ruby was especially perfect to the taste and so delicious with the garlic naan and rice. The black daal with the lentils was also such a simple dish was went so well with the naan. It had a very heartwarming flavor. I can't wait to go again! The waitress was also very helpful in figuring out what and how much to order. Thankfully, I was able to take what was left home and eat it the next day. The restaurant itself is pretty crowded however. I felt that the tables were too close to each other. read more

Ever since my first visit to Dishoom four years ago, I couldn't stop thinking about how great it was! So much so that I had to make a return visit! Even an hour long wait wasn't stopping me from this delicious Indian food. My friend and I were HIGHLY ambitious, but we somehow managed to put down eight dishes. Have to provide the rundown: 1. Lamb Samosas: These were solid, had a little kick to them. A nice appetizer. 2. Spicy Lamb Chops: I definitely had these last time, but did not remember it being this good. Wow, so much flavor and kick, yet so tender! Love that they had some char to them to give them some crunchiness. 3. Dishoom Chicken Tikka: Normally I wouldn't give two thoughts to chicken, but I enjoyed this so much last time I had to get it in again. Cooked super tender and with that chicken tikka flavor! 4. Salli Boti (half-plate): One of the few curry dishes that Dishoom has, the Salli Boti is not something I got last time. Really glad I did! The curry is served with tender lamb. Excellent dish! 5. Garlic Naan: I mean, you can never go wrong with garlic naan. 6. Chicken Ruby: Another one of Dishoom's few curry dishes. Had a decent kick to it and the chicken was great! 7. Gunpowder Potatoes: Probably shouldn't have attempted this, but damn they really give you a ton of potatoes! They were really soft and the butter, crushed aromatic seeds, and green herbs gave it a nice touch. 8. Grilled Malai Mushrooms: This dish actually surprised me. I'm not really a huge mushroom guy, but these mushrooms made me want more! The malai marination made this dish for sure. Service was great! Our waiter was almost bemused that we ordered so much and didn't think we could finish everything, but we sure surprised him! Other than that, he kept the water coming and was very prompt with everything. Ambience was nice. The lights were bright to start the night and were turned down over the course of the night. We were near a few tables, but never uncomfortable. A very warm feeling being here. Man, I really want to try other places in London. But Dishoom is so good I can't help but keep coming back! read more
I came with high expectations since my partner, who usually doesn't like Indian food and yet loves this place. We got the okra, the chicken ruby, and the cheese naan. Overall, I found the okra and the curry to be too greasy. The flavor of the curry was good, but my partner and I both had upset stomachs afterwards. Maybe we were used to the spices. The service was top notch. We went for lunch and the interior was beautifully cozy in the daytime. We didn't have trouble with the lighting as many other reviewers have mentioned. I used to eat Indian food on a weekly basis when I lived in Tokyo, and the cheese naan is I used to have over there is arguably tastier. read more

We celebrated or 30th Anniversary at Dishoom on our trip to London, and absolutely loved it! Delicious drinks at the bar before dinner, delightful service all night, and a really wonderful meal from appetizer to dessert, all in a really interesting and romantic space. They don't need my recommendation, because London obviously loves it, but go try Dishoom! read more

The best Dishoom! What I loved about this location was the small feel of the cafe here. I went for late breakfast and stayed for lunch! Dishoom is one of those places in London that you hear about a lot--and for good reason. It's got this cool, nostalgic vibe, styled after old Bombay cafés, which makes it a really fun spot to hang out. The food is a mix of classic Indian street food with a bit of a twist. Their bacon naan roll is a must-try for breakfast, and their take on an English breakfast is even better than a traditional English breakfast! The beans were so so good. The small plates are perfect for sharing, and you can't go wrong with the lamb chops or the okra fries. If you're vegetarian, there are plenty of options that don't feel like an afterthought--everything is packed with spice and flavor. The place is always busy but the staff keep things moving and are really friendly. Plus, they know the menu inside out and are happy to make suggestions if you're not sure what to get. Drinks-wise, they've got some great cocktails with a bit of an Indian twist, like the East India Gimlet, but if you're after something more traditional, their chai is spot on. I wish I could buy the chai back in the States it was that good ! Dishoom isn't the cheapest place, but the quality of the food and the whole atmosphere definitely make it worth the price. It's one of those restaurants where you leave feeling like you've had a great experience, not just a good meal. Our first time in London, and we had heard this was the place for Indian food in the city. One of the only places with lots of Yelp reviews in London. Short walk from Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery. We came in just before lunch time and got seated right away as a party of 2. - Lamb samosa (4.5/5): Super crispy, amazing flavor. The appetizers came out pretty quick too. Also the sauce was delicious. - Okra fries (5/5): These were so yummy. My husband doesn't even like okra, but he thought these were really good. Lightly fried and not too greasy. - Chicken ruby, garlic naan (5/5): The sauce was the best part, perfect for dipping the garlic naan. The naan was SO GOOD. I love when it tastes doughy and fresh. - House black daal (4/5): It had great flavor, tasted kind of mushy since it is made with lentils. We loved it all read more

I thought Dishoom was good, I got the chicken bali and lamb samosas. I really enjoyed what I ordered. My group also got all 3 naan types to go with our food and the best was the garlic naan. It is decently expensive so be prepared to spend if you want a whole meal however worth it. read more

English cuisine scene would be doomed without dishoom. After having a lot of bland food this place was a welcomed change to my taste buds. They do water down the spices but it is still amazing. Each time I'm come I'm just so enamored with all the desi tings! The menu seems small bc I'm used to going to Indian restaurants in the states that have so many menu items. Here of course my go to items are the butter chicken, Briyani and naan. While the butter chicken and naan are the best items I will say my least favorite was the briyani. I love me a hyderbadi version but this is still good. I find it absolutely criminal that they sell raita separately. This should already be included!!!! That almost cost them a star but then I remembered how good the mango lassi was! read more
Another great Dishoom branch. Curry dishes are good as always. So was fried okra and daal. My friend had a grilled chicken, and he was very pleased with it. Dinner service is always difficult to get in, so we strategically had an early lunch here. We were shown to a table (for two) straight away. The waiter tried to upsell by recommending we order "about 3 dishes per person." But we'd been here before, so ignored that advice. As usual, I ordered and enjoyed their chai. But sadly, they can't make it with no or reduced sugar, because they are pre-made in big batches. read more

Friends encouraged me to try out multiple Dishoom locations in London, so wound up having dinner at the Carnaby location in SoHo, after having a somewhat underwhelming experience at their Kensington location. This location is on a pedestrian only street, with some outdoor seating, and ample indoor seating. I was surprised by there being a 25 minute wait at 9:30 PM on a Monday night, but it's popular for a reason. The vibe is fun, upbeat, and super trendy at this location. The interiors were nice, although some parts of the restaurant had more of an Italian or Mediterranean feel (still very pleasant). Having experimented with a variety of items at the Kensington location (and not really being impressed by some), we decided to go straight to skip appetizers and go with the main dishes of chole puri and ruby chicken. Although it wasn't your typical preparation of chole, it was made really well and had a bit of a spicy kick to it. My one critique would be that the 2 pieces of puri aren't nearly enough to eat with the chole provided. The ruby chicken hit the spot with tender pieces of chicken in a wonderfully delicious tomato-based gravy (definitely a step up in quality from the Kensington location). The house chai hit the spot, and I preferred it over their chocolate chai which I felt wasn't the right mix of flavors and was mid a gimmick drink. When presented with the check, we were given complimentary mango bite candy, which I probably haven't had in over 15 years, and brought me some happy memories of having them when I was younger. Overall, despite the wait, the Dishoom Carnaby location was a fun and high quality dining experience (4.5/5). read more
