    Lamb curry
    Gloria C.

Came at around 4pm on weekday, no wait. They brought me inside to a table as a solo diner but it was actually so hot, felt like they haven't turned on the AC. The outside temperature was even cooler. Eventually it got better. I ordered a chef special lamb curry that comes with paratha, it was tbh a bit salty even eating with the paratha. It was good but nothing mind blowing. Some people said it's the best Indian food in London but I think it tastes like every other high rating Indian restaurant in the area. And they have a "optional" service fee for 12.5% I'm assuming you can ask to remove it but it's already on the bill when you ask for it.

I wish I had taken more pictures so I could reminisce on this meal when I am not able to enjoy it in person. This restaurant was recommended to me by someone who comes here whenever they're in London and it did not disappoint. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant is very busy/popular. I decided to have lunch on my own and there was about a 15 minute wait. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind, and the inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so it sets a cool and intimate vibe. It's a very vibrant atmosphere. The menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I went with the vegetable samosas to start and a fresh nimbu soda which was very refreshing. For my main dish I had the chicken ruby and a said of garlic naan. Everything was so incredibly fresh. The food was served as soon as it was done being prepared and the flavors were immaculate!!!! 10 out of 10! No notes! And I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking. For delicious Indian food.

Dishoom literally never fails to disappoint. My first experience was at Convent Garden location and the Carnaby location was just as amazing! We managed to snag a reservation here before coming to London on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. We got there right on time and and our table was ready immediately. We had great booth in the back of the restaurant so it wasn't too loud. We all ordered some drinks when we sat down and opted for a Kingfisher to drink. For appetizers, we got some samosas and chili chicken which were delicious! They also gave us some of these rice crackers with different sauces which were delicious. For our entrees, we got some biryani, ruby chicken and rice, malai chicken, the gunpowder potatoes and 3 orders of naan! It was all delicious! The biryani with the yogurt sauce is my personal favorite but their garlic naan is great too. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and I opted for the chai to end the meal which was delicious! This meal was stunning and you must stop by Dishoom while in London.

Worth the hype! I've heard a lot about Dishoom and was curious if the food would live up to the hype...and the answer is YES, YES IT DOES. The food is so good and so flavorful! I wish I had more people with me so that we could've ordered more dishes. My party of 3 ordered: 1 chicken ruby, 1 house daal, 1 garlic naan, 2 bowls of rice, samosas, fried okra, and some tea. Everything was DELICIOUS! The daal was fantastic. But man oh man was the Chicken Ruby addicting! The Chicken Ruby is their take on butter chicken and it was the perfect balance of acidity and spice and sweetness. We wanted to order another Chicken Ruby but we couldn't eat anymore. Would recommend this place to anyone! So good

OMG! This was a truly wonderful dining experience! I am not quite sure what all is in the photo, but I know we ordered the Lamb Biryani with rice, Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries (very addicting!), maybe the gunpowder potatoes is the straw looking dish - divine! And some sort of white sauce - also fabulous. No matter what you order, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience! Everything was delicious, and the service - especially the bar, was impeccable! You must make this a stop on your next visit to England!

Omg. We were in London ahead of a cruise out of Southampton! And let me tell you a this place was amazing. Absolutely amazing!

I've been obsessed with Indian food lately so last time I was in London I needed to try this locals popular spot. Casual spot with vibrant atmosphere. Bold Indian-inspired flavors. The dishes were packed with depth and richness. Our server was helpful explaining the menu and suggesting dishes. Some of our favorite courses were the house black daal, okra fries, Butter chicken and garlic naan. They also have a creative drink menu with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. The chai tea is delicious! The place can get busy so I strongly suggest reservation but they are also walk-in friendly. Please come to New York!!

My favorite place in London, possibly the world. Saw on "Somebody Feed Phil" and knew I had to stop in next time I was in the city. Came with family and got a table in the sun room. Will never forget our experience. Staff was incredibly kind and helped make suggestions and made our 3 year old's experience great too. The food was incredible! From small shareable plates to larger curry plates. So so so so good. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a great spot in London.

Really good, lives up to the hype! We didn't have a reservation but stopped but stopped by around noon and were seated immediately. They almost seated us at a table with sofas (living room style) but we asked to move to a table and they were able to accommodate. If my memory serves, I think we ordered the carnaby special, house black daal, chicken ruby, and chili chicken. I can't remember why the waffle style chips were called (or if it was complimentary) but those were really good! A fun way to try out all the different sauces. Everything we ordered was delicious but our favorite would have to be the ruby chicken, it's the closest thing to butter chicken. The other 2 curries were also rich in flavor. I really liked their chili chicken, but my bf thought it was too spicy to handle. Overall it was an amazing meal and I can't wait for it to open in NYC when I visit!

This was my second time eating at Dishoom, and while I enjoyed it the first time, this time was even better because we weren't as jetlagged this time around. But definitely make a reservation because it's a popular spot amongst all of their locations and it fills up quick. We got The dishoom margarita - you'll like this if you like really sweet drinks! And the spice on the side also gives it a good kick. Kingfisher - this was such a clean mild beer, like I can see this being a good way to get into beers if you don't like them Basmati rice - pretty standard rice, but make sure you know which dishes come with what because you probably will need to order rice on the side. Naan - the garlic naan is obviously more flavorful and delicious than the plain. But when paired with all of the flavorful food, you can't really tell as much so honestly I would probably just get the plain next time to save some money. Chote papad with mango chutney - the mango chutney is really good! The sweetness and spiciness is balanced really well, and it's served with a crispy chip like papad. Methi gosht and paratha (1/2 plate, Chef's Carnaby Special) - I might prefer the paratha over the naan! It has more of a chewy texture to it. The curry had a little bit of a kick but was also pretty sweet. We definitely could have gone for a full plate though. And I really liked the cucumbers and onions, it was super refreshing and clean amongst all the strong flavors at the table. Dishoom chicken tikka - this was one of my favorites purely because it was more my level of spice. Where so far everything else just had a kick, this gave a little more of a burn - enough to make your nose run a little but not enough to make your tongue suffer. Gunpowder potatoes - really good potatoes, but also pretty standard potatoes. The lemon and white sauce are so so good in making them lighter and I wish they gave more white sauce. Because it could do with being even lighter. With all the curries and naans and rice, idk that having potatoes on the side is my favorite. While they're good, everything just feels really heavy, and I'd rather just get something more refreshing. Chicken ruby - I feel like this is the dish that everyone really gets. And I can see why! Super creamy, sweet, and flavorful, it's kind of similar to butter chicken. The food comes out pretty quickly and the workers are so friendly. And I love the little mango candies they bring out along with the bill.

I feel like I've thought about Dishoom at least once a day ever since trying it during my most recent trip to London. This is a rite of passage for tourists and there are multiple locations across London to check out so you have many opportunities to try it! We waited about ~30 minutes and another group waiting in line said it was "worth the wait" and they weren't wrong. There were only 2 of us and we feasted like queens. You must get the okra fries, chili cheese toast, ruby chicken (this is THE dish), and chili broccoli salad. If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the kulfi which is pretty much like ice cream but in a popsicle. We also had the methi gosht and paratha along with the gunpowder potatoes, but that isn't anything to write home about. The service was friendly and efficient. The actual restaurant itself has darker/dimmed lighting inside and I felt like we had to use our flash to look at the menus (or maybe our eyes are just that old). Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend coming here at least once during your trip to London. To be honest, at one point, we were thinking about going back again for a second time.

Best Indian food ever! We had Ruby Chicken, Roasted Cauliflower, Okra Fries and Lamb. The service was lightning fast, our waiter was friendly and gave great recommendations! The restaurant was welcoming and had a great vibe.

Dishoom continues to be my most favorite stop when I am in London. My favorite has to be the Goa fish curry and the chicken biryani. Also the lamb chops are not to be missed. Service is amazing always, we were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night. ambiance is nice. Clean and nicely decorated. Can't wait to come back and can't wait for Dishoom Las Vegas to open!

Gymkhana isn't trying to reinvent Indian food, but instead focuses on traditional, predominantly Northern Indian flavors and is cooked with precise execution. Despite the fact that I was not always agreeable with some of the flavor profiles (mainly because I haven't encountered them before), I can't deny everything was cooked to perfection. Ordered the Punjabi Samosa to start, the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops, the Lasooni Wild Tiger Prawns, Chicken Butter Masala, amd Pork Cheek Vindaloo as entrées, and of course had to get some Basmati Rice and the Bread Basket (the fancy name for naan). Favorite dishes were easily the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops and the Chicken Butter Masala. The Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops were massive and cooked perfectly medium rare with no gamey taste. And this Chicken Butter Masala is exactly how I envisioned the perfect butter chicken dish in my head. Service is...well, more normal restaurant than two Michelin star level. It was fine I suppose. Exactly what I would have expected from a restaurant of this level, but nothing special. The restaurant itself was not as big as I thought it would have been. Very nice decor inside and not super bright. The one thing I wasn't too keen on was the £150/pp minimum spend, which was especially grating because later timeslots had less of a minimum spend. I would have been more ok with it if the minimum spend was £100/pp, because you're 100% going to get there. Overall, I thought Gymkhana was a good experience that was worth trying. The food was tremendous for sure. I would be more of a fan if not for the high minimum spend because honestly I could just come here for the Chicken Butter Masala and some rice and be good. But alas, it is what it is.

The ambience is on point. The place is three levels and is very aesthetic. The aesthetic is different on each level. Definitely a vibe. 5/5 Food wise, it was okay for how expensive it is. I did the tasting menu for one, and I would not recommend this as this was a lot of food and I have some thoughts about the food as well. In retrospect, I would recommend getting a two appetizers and one entrée, and that should definitely be the lamb chop. I thought the pappadum and aloo chaat were great. The tandoori masala lamb chop (add on) was fire. I just thought everything was average. It was borderline too salty for my taste. This includes the kid goat keema, chicken butter masala, and venison biryani. I was expecting more flavor from the biryani honestly. The saag makai and dal were much more palatable. I would approach with caution but you're probably visiting, want Indian food, and they have Michelin stars, so you can't help yourself. I get it. Solid place but you'll find me there for a cocktail and for lunch off the à la carte menu.

I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry with tender chicken in a buttery makhani sauce. The house black daal is a Dishoom signature, and it was lovely, cooked for over 24 hours. The biryani was fluffy and nice, studded with jackfruit, barberries, and sultanas. The broccoli salad was a fresh hit of green, enhanced with pistachio, mint, red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, and lime. The lamb chops made for a hearty entrée with a lot of flavor, the lamb marinated, grilled, and finished with Kashmiri chilli sauce. The thin, griddled roomali roti and the fresh-baked naan were both great accompaniments, as was the minty, cucumbery raita. For dessert, we had a choice of kulfi, creamy ice pops available in mango, pistachio, or malai, the original flavor touched with caramel. All three were superb, so cold and milk, easy to throw down the hatch. This was, it turned out, an enormous feast, but everything was so delicious and well balanced that I didn't notice how much I was eating until I got up. I was still full several hours later, when we went to dinner. If you want to eat Indian food in London, you should definitely find your nearest Dishoom. It's a wonderful restaurant, with top-notch food and no hassle. I certainly intend to go again.

First, I started with the mango lassi which was so fresh and naturally sweet. I loved the fennel seeds on top for added flavor. Such a great start to the meal. My favorites of the night were the chicken ruby (a must order and crowd pleaser), lamb biryani, and black daal. The chilli chicken was also a super flavorful app to share and the garlic naan was great as well. Everything is nicely flavored and I appreciate how patient and understanding the staff were with the food allergies and restrictions our group had. Definitely a must in London!

Wow, just wow. Should be 7 stars. The restaurant was…read morerecommended by someone who lives in London. Wonderful decor, you can spend a good amount of time just looking around and your eye will never be bored. Amazing food. Everything we tried was superb. Vegetable samosas, bbq chicken wings, beef biryani, goat shoulder, chicken skins - one dish was tastier than another. We tried not to order lamb chops, but after being almost shamed by our waiter, we got it - and it was probably the very best lamb chops I ever had - anywhere, it is. Just wow. Coconut Kulfi was spectacular. And Bombay Chai was - once again- an absolute wow. Excellent service - prompt, friendly, attentive. Most highly recommended.

But though…read moremuch of the standard British pub food and such was fantastic, and there's no shortage of varied global cuisine to be found in the city, our overall favorite meal of the trip was here at Brigadiers which might be the best Indian food we've ever had. A nice but welcoming interior with great decor and top-notch service. An extensive drink menu, private meeting spaces, and an expansive but focused menu. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection with the proper amount of spice and heat. I'd point out specific dishes but I have a feeling everything on the menu lives up to what we ordered. I particularly liked the mixed greens + beef and bone marrow. But you can't go wrong.
