I envisioned a hot grill searing fresh meat served to order. My plate was cold but tasted ok. The set up was quick and professional and the service was friendly but not "authentic" or up-beat. My guests enjoyed the food but I think most of them filled up on appetizers since The Taco Cart was 45 minutes late getting to the party, and we never got an explanation of why they were late? It was nice not having any clean-up, but overall I don't feel like we got what we paid for:( I love good food and hate to give a small business a bad review but I have to be honest about our experience. Maybe they weren't having a good day.

Then we noticed the tuna looked brown, and finally tasted the tuna by itself, which tasted off. It feels like they were trying to cover up the bad tuna taste with more rice vinegar or something. It's disappointing because this one is a more special/expensive roll but it tasted worse than the normal ones. If you really want to go here, just stick with their normal rolls. Kids were only allowed to eat the hotdog "kids meals" and did have an option to get a burger. Only one employee came as well. She was taking orders/ payment, making the food, and making the snow cones. She seemed very scattered. On top of that soda was included in the package we paid for, but on her truck she had a sign saying soda was $2, so our guest not knowing, felt as if they had to pay for them. We not recommend using them unless you have an exact number of people and what they will eat prior.

The concept of fresh wood fire oven pizzas was too enticing to pass up! Grant, the owner and chef, was extremely easy to work with from beginning to end. He showed up at the time promised (2 hours before service) to set up his equipment and as soon as service started, the pizzas kept coming out for 2 hours. As recommended, I also had some other food items for my guests (Green salad, pasta salad, fruit). Everyone loved the pizzas! It was really fun to watch Grant make the pizzas - it was entertainment for both the kids and the adults! We booked the Vespa Party, which included 4 types of pizzas (Margherita, Pepperoni, Cheese, Margh-a-Meata - which is a combination of the Margherita & Pepperoni Pizzas.) I understand that this was the least expensive package, but I still wish that there was more variety on the menu. Essentially, the pizzas in this package were made of all the same ingredients so everything just started tasting the same after a couple of slices. For $100 more, you can add two specialty pizzas to the menu which provides more variety for your guests. It would just be great if there was another pizza on the vespa menu that used different ingredients (sausage for example). And the only issue I had with the pizzas was that some were burnt on the bottom. And that burnt taste was extremely bitter and unpleasant. Overall, I would definitely recommend Pettola Pizza. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. They have recently added "pig roast" to their menu and being the porker that I am, I definitely want to try it! Maybe for a luau themed party.

I decided on two super fresh carne asada tacos that were handmade right in front of you, and added some rice on the side. It was very, very good. I thought their rice was excellent, mild tasting, the grains were cooked perfectly, still light and fluffy. I didn't have the beans but they looked good. The salsas were good too. I was impressed with the overall performance and would definitely hire them to cater a party.

I made contact with the business owner, Maria on 5/8/24 to cater a graduation event for 50 people to take place on 6/1/24. Maria provided me the cost of service and what it included (3 meats, rice, beans, 2 types of aguas, fresh churros and 2 hours of service). I accepted the service with a $100 deposit via Zelle. She sent me a picture of the written order. To me that was one less thing to take care of. I've used various services from Yelp and created services via text messaging with no problem. Approximately 7:45 pm on Friday, 5/31/24, LESS THAN 24 HOURS from my event, I received a text message from Maria, that she broke her ankle from an accident and can't serve my event, with pictures of her in what look like a hospital and her foot in a cast/boot. I get it, accidents happen, but when you're running a business, shouldn't you have a contingency plan? She could've found a replacement or had someone in her network to help her out. Her photos showed her and another person performing jobs, in some photos, other people working with her. This leads me to believe that she took a larger job worth more than mine and just dropped me! I was really looking forward to her service! I asked for her to return my deposit. Her last message was that she will do it tomorrow (which was Friday evening). It's been more than 3 days and I haven't seen my deposit yet. Since it was a Zelle transaction, it should be fairly easy to refund me, right? I eventually sent another message last night and no response. I see the message was READ. And still no response. So now I'm being ghosted. It's just $100, but if you're going to run a proper business, do it right. I'll absorb the loss at this point. Finding a Taco Caterer less than 24 hours from your event is almost impossible! Either they are booked or no one responds back. Luckily, I did find Jennio's Tacos and they were a Godsend! AND their tacos were delicious! I don't wish any ill will towards anyone, but I think Maria could have handled this transaction with more professionalism. If you come across Ricos Tacos Dona Mari, think twice. Lesson learned: ask the vendor what is their contingency plan for accidents and such. Ask if they can cater multiple events at a time, if they can, they probably won't drop you and leave you hanging at the last minute. I guess I should be thankful she informed me cause it could've been worse (she could've not called and just not show up). And I'm very grateful for finding Jennio's Tacos. Not only did they come through but are top rated in their food and service.

I guess the Taco Guy came here for the special event and also the increase in traffic. I stopped by and pick up a couple Al Pastor tacos and a couple carnita tacos. They were good and the Al Pastor taco had pinapple in there. The carnita taco did have oil dripping down. They were two dollar each. It was a solid four star and add one star for a taco truck that I can find south of Irvine and at the price and quality of Santa Ana.
