For my son's High School Graduation Dinner, I was looking for a dining option that would incorporate seamlessly in the busy day. Knowing everyone would be tired and hungry after the graduation ceremony, I wanted to have the dinner follow immediately after the ceremony without having the formality and structure of restaurant dining nor the extra work of picking up food from a restaurant. I found Party in a Box on-line and was impressed by the breadth and sophication of the menu items with a price point that was very competitive with the other options I was evaluating. Chef Dawn responded to my initial inquiry the same day. She answered my basic questions and provided a quote by the following morning. She suggested further refinements to the menu to ensure we satisfied all my guests' varied tastes. Food was delivered and setup in my back yard before we arrived home from the ceremony. Warm dishes were kept on chafing plates and the other items were covered to stay cool. The presentation was beautiful (orchid flowers garnished some of the platters). And the food was devine! OH MY GOSH!!!! I used Party in a Box Catering for my wedding last weekend and it was the absolute best decision I made!! Chef Dawn and her staff were amazing!!! From my initial email inquiry to Chef Dawn, she was a pleasure to work with. Chef Dawn understood my vision and helped me create the PERFECT menu. I am someone who likes a little bit of a big variety. I can make a meal out of appetizers, but wanted a few substantial offerings too. My wedding was held at my mom's house in San Juan Capistrano, just 30 of our nearest and dearest family and friends. We had a couple vegan guests, and Chef Dawn easily created a Vegan Station, so delicious for even the non-Vegans. Everyone raved about the food, and I received many, "who is your caterer!?" questions. All the food was amazing, but a few of my favorite items we had were the crispy artichokes, egg rolls, coconut shrimp, quesadillas, tacos, chicken skewers with tzatziki and falafel with hummus. I think the sushi and sashimi assortment was the biggest hit! On the day of, Chef Dawn and her staff arrived 2 hours early to set up. We had Chef Dawn, 4 waitstaff members and a bartender. We received many compliments on our bartender, Rob. He was a pleasure and so personable with our guests. We were even able to supply our own alcohol. One of the waitstaff, Teddy, was also the acting day-of-coordinator, which was an incredible surprise! Teddy was AMAZING! She saw to it that the whole day flowed seamlessly. She always made sure our glasses were full and even fixed me and my groom a plate of appetizers when we finally got a chance to sit down! At the end of the evening, Chef Dawn and her staff cleaned everything up, left my mom's kitchen even cleaner than they found it, and packaged and labelled all the leftover food in to-go boxes. The leftovers were just as good the week after! Chef Dawn also coordinated all of our rentals through the rental company, Signature Party Rentals. This was such a huge help! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Party in a Box Catering, Chef Dawn and her staff. If my family or I ever need catering again, we are using Party in a Box without question!!! I found Party in a Box Catering through my wedding venue (Ocean Institute), and I'm really glad I did! Sharon is so helpful and accommodating and Dawn is an amazing chef. They worked with me through the entire process and were open to adjusting their packages to meet my needs. A huge plus is that they also give you the option to buy your own alcohol for the bar, which can save you a lot of money. They not only cater but they also do set up and decorating with either their materials or yours. I had a very specific vision (I had a War of 1812 themed reception) and Sharon met with me a few times in person and had many emails back and forth with me to make sure that she understood what I wanted. The decorations turned out fabulous and all my guests loved them. However, the best thing about hiring them is the FOOD! It was incredible! There was not one person at my wedding that didn't enjoy the food. Everyone from my vegetarian Grandmother to our hardcore meat-eater friends kept telling my husband and I how good it was. My boss was so impressed that now she is having them cater her daughter's wedding. After a few phone conversations, we met Chef Dawn and Sharon at their facility, and went over their concepts and gave us a tasting. The food was exquisite, and we placed a deposit; beyond the catering, they included in their cost estimate Sharon's expertise as a Wedding Coordinator. Their confidence and knowledge was enough to convince us to go with them. For our actual wedding, everything went perfectly. Sharon created the setting exactly as we had requested, and it exceeded our expectations - the decor was beautiful, the place settings were our requested color scheme, and the tables were well-placed. Sharon coordinated well with the venue management, the DJ, and the rest of the catering staff. When we were outside taking photos, one of the staff members offered us cold lemonade and snacks. The food was fantastic - the salad was wonderful, the rice was perfectly cooked. The groom cleaned his plate and asked for seconds! The guests raved about the food. Sharon's staff were punctual, courteous, and knowledgeable. We were provided with a personal attendant, Malina, who was incredible with her help, ensuring that the bride and groom had everything needed at a moments' notice. Malina also was exceptionally helpful with the wedding party, and even looked after some of the guests who had special needs, including the bride's father. At the end of the evening, Sharon's crew was quick to clean up, and supported us in moving all the remaining food, unopened drinks, the gifts, and personal equipment, back into our vehicles to get us back home quickly. Sharon checked with us regularly about everything, was not pushy, and worked smoothly with all the staff involved to make things run smoothly.
