This master suite renovation was our second project with them; the first was an award-winning kitchen remodel. And there will likely be additional projects as we have developed trusting relationships with the company owner as well as the crew. They provide detailed estimates and adjust whenever necessary. Work began on the exact day scheduled. There was a minor delay due to the pandemic - completely understandable. They communicate regularly so that we always knew who was coming, when they were coming, and what they were going to do. If there was a day or time inconvenient to us, it was rescheduled. They cleaned up the work area before leaving every day. Clearly, their goal was to ensure our satisfaction at all times. Any and all concerns were immediately addressed. This was a major renovation of the master bedroom, bathroom, and closet that included replacing the bedroom carpet with hardwood floors stained to match the rest of the house; installing wood ceilings in both the bedroom and bathroom; and a complete overhaul of the master bath. Our shower was in bad shape, our tub took up a lot of room and served no purpose as neither of us used it, and the entire bathroom was outdated. The bathroom remodel was designed for aging in place and includes several grab bars strategically located as well as a high-tech toilet with bidet and heated floor tiles. The tub was removed and the shower relocated to that area. Above the tub was a large picture window that was removed and restructured into a transom above the shower that allowed for both light and privacy. That, of course, required brickwork on the outside of the house. Now, we have a large, stunning shower with treated glass, a seat and two showerheads - one is a wand next to the seat. Moving the shower allowed for custom vanities with drawers that are extremely functional being specifically designed to hold hair styling tools and a makeup area for seating. We asked them to accommodate lighted glass sculptures and their cabinet maker designed a tower specifically for this purpose and the electrician set it up so the cords from the light bases were not showing. Once again, we worked with their gifted designer who guided us through all material selections. She offered options and truly helped with the decision process. When it comes to choosing tile, cabinet styles, hardware, and paint colors she has the ability to pull it all together in a way that generates stunning results. Her guidance was priceless! Fresh paint everywhere, new fan and TV mounted in the bedroom...all perfectly done. Wake Remodeling even has a "cleaner" who comes in when all the work is done to ensure everything is spotless! And when we dinged the walls moving the furniture back into the bedroom, the painter returned and touched it up. In the last 30 years, in prior homes, we have done many, many renovations and experienced both good and bad contractors. The Wake Remodeling team has now completed two renovations for us and both have exceeded our expectations. There will more than likely be future projects and they will be the team we call.

I was completely taken aback by how CCKB handled our installation--and the customer service was…read moreeven worse. If you want the short version: unless everything goes perfectly, you're risking your hard-earned money. Keep this in mind, I spent over $5,000 for a countertop and was provided something incorrect, and was mocked for thinking someone should apologize. If your installation is straightforward, you might be fine. But if anything--anything--goes wrong, be prepared. CCKB takes zero personal responsibility and will deflect blame onto anything or anyone else. Some background. ~15 years ago, I worked in the kitchen and bath industry. I'd heard some rumors about CCKB back then but never had much direct experience with their work. Fast forward--I was referred to them by a remodeling company. I hesitated, but decided to give them a shot based on the referral. Also worth noting: I've been involved in over four dozen kitchen installations and personally built eight wood countertops. I know how to template, how to handle out-of-plumb walls, and how overhangs work. I'm not a random customer. We had a single slab of honed quartzite, very specific design specs, and a setup that was 100% ready--walls, cabinets, and layout. During templating for the makeup vanity, it was even noted that I requested an extended overhang on the left side (near a doorway). The right side was bordered by a tall pantry-style cabinet, and the back edge met a wall that was out of plumb (which we all knew going in). What showed up? A completely botched countertop. The right side was cut at a ~15-degree diagonal--shorter in the back than the front--leaving a 7/8" gap where the counter should have been flush with the pantry cabinet. Think of a rectangle with three straight sides, and the fourth side hacked at an angle. To be fair, the installer did the best he could but neither him, nor the installation manager offered any recommendation on how to fix it. They originally offered to cut the finished left end, but neither my contract nor I could see how that would fix anything. The suggestion to fix this, came from me. After measuring the angle, there was only one way to fix the gap "Scribe it to the cabinet" just the way the template should have been done to begin with. So, he cut off the angled portion (with an impressively steady hand), but we lost the overhang we had designed. I told the install team I wasn't happy, and then, silence. No call from CCKB--just an invoice. When I finally called, I spoke with someone who I believe is a co-owner. She kept insisting the issue was due to the back wall being out of plumb--totally missing the fact that the actual error was on the side, not the back. The template and CAD drawings showed the measurements she said and the mistake was "the wall being out of plumb"; however, after speaking to everyone NOT associated with CCKB, the mistake was clearly the cut. I tried to explain calmly that this wasn't about the wall--it was a simple length measurement along the side. She repeated herself again, ignoring the facts. I finally told her, "I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say." That's when she laughed at me. Loudly. Mockingly. She then snapped, "Okay, what do you want?" I said calmly, "I don't think I should be charged full price." Her response? "Fine. I'll give you $200 off." I told her I appreciated the gesture, but what I really wanted was an apology and some accountability. Instead, she laughed again and said: "What do you want me to tell you? That you're right? Ok, You're right! *mockingly* I'm sorry, you win! Does that make you feel better?!" I was stunned. Her tone was completely unprofessional and condescending. I told her I just wanted acknowledgment of the issue, and an apology would have been nice. Let's be clear: the only reason this install was even usable was because I guided the installers on how to fix it. The installers had no plan. Bottom line, every company makes mistakes and I believe that's human. But how a company responds to those mistakes defines its integrity. CCKB failed that test completely.

We finished our third floor, renovated our master bath, and replaced all our carpets with wood and tile floors. Lynn's Renovation Gang did all this work for us at various times. I think their work was very good, Lynn was good at helping us make decisions but gave us the freedom to pick the finishes directly from the suppliers and didn't get in the way of our decisions. Many of these projects included long periods of time with workers in our house. I will say that I have always felt they were very polite and cleaned up after their repairs and updates. I think the combination of their pricing and their workmanship makes them a great value for a remodeler. I also have had them service my HVAC unit and different times when my heat went out or my A/C was on the fritz they were out very quickly to get things working. Once when the A/C went out and they needed to order parts they brought in their air conditioners for the bedroom so we could sleep at night. It's very rare that you find a contractor that can brag on such consistent customer service above and beyond in many I felt bad that I never left a review but recently referred her to some friends for their project and they asked why I hadn't reviewed the business. I felt bad as they have done numerous jobs and provided excellent follow-up service when needed so I remedied that situation today.

Closer Look General Contracting (aka We'llStickItToYou GC)…read more About a year ago, Closer Look GC was subcontracted to remove an engineered floor (which is glued down), and install new laminate flooring. They showed up and began the removal process of the engineered hardwood. It was clear that they were having difficulty removing the glue from the concrete. I explicitly stated that they needed to inform me prior to installing the laminate flooring because I wanted to ensure the glue was gone before the install. I was working from home so I could supervise the work. Unfortunately I had to leave for about 30 minutes. When I returned they had a large portion of the flooring installed on top of the area that had glue remaining, but they assured me that there was no glue remaining. They had at least 4 men here doing work, using cutting tools and it was very loud. They were banging against walls with their tools, which concerned me because I had just had the place repainted. They also only spoke in Spanish so I was unable to know what the conversations were about. Although they needed to return at a later date because they didn't have the correct door threshold, they finished everything else in one day! Thank goodness they didn't have it, because I did not pay them the remaining balance at that time. Well, a few MONTHS later they called to let me know the threshold had arrived and they were ready to return to install it. I told the field supervisor, "I'm not so sure I want you back in my house. You ruined my newly-painted walls, and the flooring makes a 'sticky' sound when walked on it". I followed up by telling them that they could return if they were willing to pull the flooring up and redo it, at their sole expense. I also told them they needed to repair the wall damage. He pretty much hung up on me. I never paid the remaining $3,500 and they never challenged that, so you know they did a poor job. Don't be fooled by their website pics. The gallery pictures shown of the brown and yellow house (with Bluestone) under 'Exteriors' are impressive, and very misleading. Closer Look GC does poor work. Their appraiser even told me that the client of that house was a "pain in the a$$". I'm not kidding. That should have been my red flag. So take a Closer Look before you hire Closer Look GC.

We received 3 bids and Pro Finishes bid was the most comprehensive and competitive. It was a pleasure from start to finish to work with Luis and all of his crew. We had bought a 1980's house that needed extensive renovation both inside and out. They painted inside and out, replace carpet with hardwood, sanded existing floors, remodeled and gutted 2 1/2 baths, tiled kitchen replace countertops, redid back porch and built a screened patio, built us a custom vanity and media cabinet to our specifications. We had several additional work items that we added to the job and all was accommodated without adding extra time to the job completion. Not once did I feel that progress wasn't being made. With all that had to be done Luis expertly managed the job and kept it moving along so we were done on time and in 3 months. I would not hesitate to recommend Pro Finishes. I have done several renovations and Luis and his crew were by far the best and most fun to work with.

I have worked with a lot of general contractors and painters, and this has by far been one of the…read moremost unprofessional and shocking experiences dealing with Luis at Pro-Finishes. I hired Luis and his crew to paint my kitchen cabinets. The interior cabinets that had a light wood finish/melamine would not be painted. They started on a Monday and began removing cabinet hardware. Luis assured me that all the work and stress of emptying out the kitchen and being without a kitchen for a few days would be worth it. We agreed that cabinet interiors would not be painted, except those that had glass cabinet doors where the interiors were the same wood finish as the exteriors. I called him Monday afternoon to ask that because there were a few additional cabinets (maybe 4-5?) that had the same wood finish interior, that I would like those painted as well. We had a civil conversation about it, and he said that there might be an additional cost and would get back to me tomorrow about it. We also agreed to any painting hours inside the house to be 9am - 4:30/5pm daily, with no issue, because I have a toddler I did not want exposed to paint fumes in the house. They had unlimited hours to spray cabinets in our garage on site. Tuesday morning the crew showed up and began working. I left the house for a couple hours, returning with coffee and treats for the crew, but instead was greeted to an empty house and my kitchen haphazardly put back the way it was before. In their rush, random screws and knobs were sitting on the counter, a cabinet was hanging from its hinge, glass was messily glued back onto a cabinet door, and my deposit check was sitting on the counter. I was completely shocked and had no idea what was going on. Luis had made zero indication to me that he was pulling out of the job, until now. I tried calling him and texting him but he would not answer. An hour later, I received a curt email from him stating that because of the work hours and some of the interior cabinets I wanted painted, his crew would not be returning. This is just bad business! Forget about the lack of professionalism and common courtesy to at least call me on the phone and tell his concerns so we could have worked through them, or at least just talk to me about it before disappearing into thin air, but I would have likely paid an additional $1,000-$2,000 had he only come to me like an adult! Maybe he got a bigger project that he wanted instead? I have no idea...but no where in our conversations were things heated or uncivilized or combative to lead me to believe we could not work together or that we could not reach some compromise. Had he simply talked to me, he would have made more money out of the project, I would have likely been happy my project was completed in a timely manner, and I would not be sitting here with a damaged kitchen writing this negative review. Luis could have handled this situation much much MUCH better...in fact the only way he could have handled it any worse is if cashed m check. I must be a very scary 5'4" mom that he could not even have the professionalism to call me over the phone to tell me his concerns. Beware of Pro Finishes.
