I was going to wait to see if the finished project was ok but I signed my contract in July of 2022 and it is now almost 2 years later and the project is still not complete. I can't speak to the quality of finished product from this contractor, but I do want to call out the unethical sales tactics that I experienced during a recent consultation. I had two Odyssey employees do a consultation on redoing my deck. It was decided that I would need the existing deck completely taken down and rebuilt due to the current condition and age. I agreed to that. After looking at it they came back with a quote of $22,000! I didn't know what a market rate was to redo a deck but I could not afford it so I told them that. The lead salesman was quick to bring up financing. It would only be around $200 - $500 a month. When I said I was only willing to pay cash he started to get agitated. I made the mistake of mentioning that I only had $8,000 available. He instantly jumped on that and said he was willing to ask the company owner if they could do $8,000 (for the same job that the original $22,000 was quoted). He said it was a "Hail Mary", but that he was willing to ask. I am in sales and have a lot of experience with sales people, so I knew this was not true. The salesman knows exactly what the cost is to do the job and would only take the time to bring it up to the owner if there was money to be made with the offer. That means that he quoted me nearly 200% higher than what he ended up coming down to. I truly believe that I if I would have said I only had $6,000, he would have also jumped on that. I contacted a well respected contractor in my area and they are planning to do it for $3,000 (labor and materials included). I did not have to negotiate my way down to this. He quoted this rate. He is using the same materials as the Odyssey contractor quoted. I made sure of this. I'm not writing this to be vengeful, but I do want to make clear that sales tactics based on preying on people's ignorance are not right. There are good people that will fall prey to this out ignorance of current market rates. I hope that the leaders at Odyssey will see this and make the appropriate changes to their sales strategy. read more

Odyssey Contracting replaced my entire roof in July 2022. Their crews and staff did an excellent job! They had to deal with thunderstorms that developed throughout the days when weather forecast said 15% chance of rain. Their crews tarped up everything they could and worked well in protecting my house, considering the weather. Nick Mixon, Michael St. Pierre, Frank Dick of the office area all worked together and were there for communications. They utilized their top expert in flashing, Joseph Weston, with many years of experience and hands on skills applied in addition to supervising the crew. Nick Mixon was always available and responded whenever I had concerns or questions. They did not (would not) take the final payment of the work until I was completely satisfied. Had them out for a consult. Waste of time. Didn't listen to what I actually wanted done, siding repair. Kept trying to push for a full redo of our siding. When they finally realized we weren't going to be pushed into that, I asked for their repair quote. 3x times what others were quoting me and I told him so. When I said I had to get on with my day and could he send me an itemized quote, what I got was an email with a quote that was now $2,000 more than what he given me 2 hours previously. No explanation as to why it had jumped up another $2,000, still no itemization at all. Just a rambling email about possible structural damage if we don't get on it. Yeah, that's why I was looking for someone to do some repairs. Needless to say, we picked a different company and they did great work. People, take your time in this market. My situation with Odyssey: early 2018, I rec'd a brochure advising that I had defective shingles & that they could potentially get me a replacement roof at no cost. I briefly researched online & found plenty of good reviews & trusted them. I failed to do research the business/owner's assets or the sec of state's website. Sales rep Tim Barnes came, inspected & photographed my roof finding storm damage. He explained that given that the shingles were also defective my homeowners ins. would likely cover a new roof & they did. I had to pay my deductible. The agreement said they would discount my deductible if I posted an online review. I failed to put 2 & 2 together that the positive reviews I read weeks earlier were in a sense paid for. I was given a sales book Owens Corning branded shingles, specifically the "TruDefnition Duration" line which is what they recommend. They have bolder color & hold up to wind better with less nails, etc. I'm not in the business of shingles so I had no idea OC made anything other than the "Duration". I was told there would be an upgrade charge if I selected a "designer" color. Later he delivered 4 Duration samples in the colors I requested. I chose my color and the roof install began shortly thereafter. The job appeared to be fine from the ground where I stood. However, w/in a few weeks I had a new client consultation, who by chance is a neighbor & used Odyssey. She had an independent inspection report showing numerous exposed nails heads, roof vents installed incorrectly, etc. She also was promised Duration shingles but they installed the cheaper Oakwood line. Think of it as Chevy v. Cadillac. At home, I checked the wrapper from a bag of shingles I kept & my home too was installed with the cheap shingles. Out of an abundance of precaution, I had my roof inspected as well. Turns out I have the same issues, exposed nails, incorrect roof vents, damage to my siding. To date, no satisfactory resolution for either of us. They will not re-do the roofs competently or install the Duration shingles. And even though I have Timmy's pictures showing there was no damage to my dormers prior to work commencing, they deny they damaged my recently painted hardieplank. Regardless of who you choose to do your roof, I want to give you a word of warning: 1. Don't pay until you've also paid to have an independent inspector look at your roof. I recommend Tony LaDuc, who has been in business for over 40 years. His number is 919.625.0584. 2. Do free public records research on the business & its owner(s). Find out if they even own any property. Check the Sec. of State's website & deeds office www. If they've only been in business for a year & they own no property/are renting, that may tell you something. 3. A roofer's General Liability Insurance doesn't cover deceptive practices or poor workmanship. Contact an insurance agent & purchase a "performance bond". Its extra $ but otherwise, you could end up in a situation where you have to sue a company/person with no assets (judgment proof) & you are left holding the bag. read more

Initially the company wanted payment before the job was done and fought with me about it. Thank god I held the money until everything was resolved or I am sure Id be stuck with bigger issues. Recently it was brought to my attention (3 years after install) that some roof tiles were curling and flashing was not installed properly. There was another issue from the beginning that was nto resolved but since I was not getting traction I put spray foam as a temp fix as I had loads of water entering my attic from a dormer. THe flashing issues were from under my windows in the dormers and also leak during a heavy rain until I placed tacks in them to hold them down. I tried to contact the owner of the company and was ignored for 2 weeks before receiving a rude phone call from another pffice member who ddemanded photos and has not responded since. Sean the owner refuses to rectify these problems and instead finally got to responding via email taunting me. Had he been a real man he would have called me back himself and resolved the issues at hand. He and his employees lack of professionalism surely negated any positive feeling I had for this company. He gets most of his work by scamming the insurance companies by using storm dates to say damage happened during that time. read more

Odyssey Contracting just completed the roof on our house, and we are very pleased with the finished product. The Odyssey Representative - Shay- approached me originally mentioning that they were doing work in the area. She asked if I would like to have my roof inspected citing the type of shingles and the storms we had in the fall. I was a little apprehensive, but knew others in the neighborhood had replaced their roofs. I agreed to the inspection. She arranged for her associate- Kyle- to conduct the inspection a couple of days later. The inspection revealed several problems. Shay and Kyle were extremely knowledgeable and helped walk me through the process. They helped me contact the insurance company and submit a claim. They were also very helpful when the claims adjustor and inspector from the insurance company came to the house to review the damage. They explained what they saw and shared photos and pointing out problems. I signed an agreement with Odyssey, and a start date was scheduled for the roof replacement. A couple of weeks later I received what they describe as an "awareness" letter. This provided a very detailed explanation of the process including who to contact, payment procedures, cleaning and possible reasons for delay. I found this to be very helpful. As it turned out, our start date was delayed two days due to having to complete another job and weather. Once the job began it took less than two days. The crew arrived promptly at 7:00 am, and they started to work immediately. They laid tarps to protect the shrubbery and bushes. Replacing a roof is extremely hard work. I was very impressed with their work ethic, their knowledge of what they were doing, and their attention to detail. I was also impressed with their continuous efforts to keep things cleaned and picked up. Their final cleanup was very thorough. They went over the yard repeatedly with magnets to pick up nails. They indicated that they will return again in a few days to repeat this process. Overall, Odyssey did a very good job. They were a tremendous help with the process, and as noted we are very pleased with the final result. read more

They are clearly very experienced in working with insurance companies to streamline the process and were very organized and professional from the beginning. I hired them because 5 of my neighbors had used them- so the yard signs do work. They were accommodating and flexible in terms of scheduling and shifted things around as needed based on adverse weather and my availability. I give Odyssey a B for the actual work. The roofers completed the job in a day, including working after dark. However, when the roofers reattached my sat dish to the roof, they left holes in my new shingles from what I assume was a previous attempt to attach the dish. My dish company notified me and took photos when they came out for a service call to reposition the dish. I was unhappy, to say the least, but the site supervisor immediately apologized and assured me that the damaged shingles would be replaced ASAP. He notified me that the work had been completed the next day, and I can only assume that's true since I haven't personally inspected the roof. As far as the indoor work that needed to be done, the team did a good job, but were very reluctant to do some of the work that had been initially agreed upon. Eventually everything was taken care of (after a bit of "teeth pulling" and a few calls to my contact at Odyssey). For the final invoicing, Odyssey gets a C+. First, they tried to charge me for services that were included by the claims adjuster but were not actually performed. I imagine this is the same shady crap that a lot of contractors would attempt to pull. Once they had corrected those charges in the invoice, they neglected to include the $200 payment toward my deductible that they offered to pay at the start if I wrote 3 reviews (like I'm doing now) and allowed them to put out a yard sign. In summary, I'm giving Odyssey 3 stars since I can't award 3.5. The work was ultimately done well and in a timely manner and everyone that I personally worked with was courteous and professional. I would recommend them with the caveat that you need to maintain a certain degree of oversight to ensure that corners aren't cut (e.g. leaving holes in shingles) and you aren't being overcharged (e.g. for services not actually performed). read more

Our neighbor was having a repair done on his roof and the contractor noticed ours was damaged as well. With Odyssey's help, roof was replaced and paid for by my insurance company. I did not realize that we had wind and hail damage or that the stain inside was due to a roof leak. I am overall pretty happy with the work they did. The roof looks great. There were a few minor hiccups as to be expected when dealing with a contracting company but the owner made sure everything was taken care of promptly. My only issue is having so many people involved, at one time I think I explained the same issue to 3-4 people. Like I said, everything was taken care of to my satisfaction, it would just be easier if the homeowner could deal with one person. I'm new to home ownership so maybe this is how it goes usually, but it was a little frustrating. Tim and Danny are both great guys to work with. Tim always answered the phone even after hours; that is very appreciated. Like I said, overall a real good group to work with. read more
