This food was very good!! I got it the fried wings, fried whiting, Mac and cheese, collards, candied sweet potatoes, chicken fingers, and sweet potato cheesecake. Only critique would be that they could batter their own tenderloins for the Kids chicken fingers because I've had those before. Also the sweet potatoes did not have baked in flavor; they had candied goo but the potatoes themselves were very bland once you bite into them. If you want soul food without the work I'd def eat here. I'll be back for sure. read more

1 star Decor was nice visit 2.pm Saturday 3 folks 3 orders.turkey wings..mashed potatoes with gravy.mac and cheese..waitress stated all fresh and saw fresh mash potaties being made...all lies..red potatoe baked and chopped up with medium warm gravy poured on top..not mashed potatoes..mac and cheese was dry tasted it was like left from night before..was given cabbage instead of potatoes originally so had to wait on those..they could have kept those..turkey wings again medium warm gravy..not much flavor..cornbread dry...asked if i wanted a replacement meal..no..im good.the water..however was quite tasty.. our other diner had the turkey chops..looked good tasted great..seems they do better with fried food items..with not much prep..had same dried mac and cheese and collards with no flavor..requested rice and gravy..rice was dry with..crunchy ends..overcooked..just not good..had bill adjusted to remove side items 3rd diner had fried fish sandwich which she stated was good..side of candied yams...were warm..not sweet or candied...not a good experience ..we came due to reviews and word of mouth..but there were many other negative reviews..we came at 2 pm food should have need fresh..VA Pilot did a review the following week 10.14.18 in the currents..no way the could have eaten at the same place..hoping it gets better..when the chef worked at CRUSH the food was awesome..when the place was Kadillacs it was great..district..not trying it again read more

Had a horrible experience here,, when we entered, we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated when there were open tables, it was only 3 of us. Once seated it took another 20 minutes just for the waitress to come get our drink order, it took so long that we gave our food order along with drink order,, after such it took another 10 minutes for them to brink drinks out,, then another 40 minutes for our meals to arrive, once food arrived, my lady collard green and cornbread was cold had to send it back,, so once we started eating, I leaned over to check basketball score on tv,, low and behold , there was roaches crawling down the wall, we got the manager to come over and he acts as if he didn't believe us, but he finally decided to comp our meals as we stood up to leave and the waitress came to remove our plates she herself saw the roaches crawling toward us and other crawling toward the bathroom,, I will never patronize this place again read more

Good southern food, great pricing, amazing quality. My family and I went here for my dad's birthday and he loved it so it was a success. The restaurant is crowded and unprofessional . If you love waiting for 1 hour & , 45 minutes then the District is the place for you . My family & , I waited well over an hour to be seated after being told that our wait will only be 10-15 minutes . The table that the host told us was for us another party took that came in AFTER us . When I notice the host seated the following party . I asked him & , reminded him that we had been waiting far longer than that party & , he replied "there's a table in back that a party is finishing up on". He then asked if we'd be ok with splitting up & , sitting in two different booths. If splitting up was our intentions then we would have stated that to begin with. However, that lead me to believe there was no party we're we're waiting on . After the 3rd time of being lied to I asked one of the bartenders who arrived during the time of my wait, to speak to a manager. She replied "I am the manager" . At that point I knew the District thought I was Boo Boo The Fool . So I asked her could I speak to a manager that was present during my issue since I witnessed her arrive . So she knocked on the wooden door lightly (instead of ringing the bell that I heard for an hour & , a half) as if she was trying to get the real manager . She then asked what was the issue so she could let the other manager know. I told her & , after she didn't apologize (like a real manager should've) or empathize. she simply went back to serving drinks . . . So here come the host again & , finally he apologized saying "sorry, the party is taking longer than I expected.". My family & , I then left . This was the worse customer service I've ever experienced . I felt like the District didn't care about my family or how long we have been waiting . The District needs better managers & , a more reliable host . read more

We visited for the 2nd time today, just like first time we were blown away,,great southern food, lots of great gravy and fried food, wife tried "pork less chop" it was two 1/2 thick slices of turkey as big as your hand, chicken fried!! don't judge, just try it,,,,I had shrimp and grits and it was great, we were told they were temporarily out of cornbread, and would we mind dinner rolls, we reluctantly agreed, thinking they were going to be packaged rolls, imagine getting fresh hot homemade catshead biscuits dripping with real butter,I had to use a napkin to get butter off my fingers, the food is not fancy, but well seasoned and done right,,well done to the chef and the wait staff is warm and knowlegable, we'll keep coming back, hope to see you there, you'll be glad you gave them a chance, oh yea the prices are very reasonable read more

Horrible service, We waited over a hour for our food. Not to mention I oreder a appetizer that came out with my entree. A rubber band was found in the collard greens of a child's plate! We notified the staff and were told the meal will be removed from the bill. To my dismay,not only was the meal not comped after being reported and shown they had the audacity to simply remove 3.00 from the bill which was the cost of a side order. I really wanted to give This restaurant a Five Star rating. If I was just rating the food, then I would. I'm just not a food only rater. The wait staff was a little slow but not too bad. We waited at least 10-12 minutes before someone came And acknowledged us. Then we immediately found out they were out of pork chops....the main thing that's touted about this restaurant. BUMMER! However, not to be dismayed, the five of us ordered different entrees of fried chicken, liver and onions, catfish, shrimp and crab cakes with a variety of sides. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I only wish this place could pour a little bit into properly training wait staff, adding some lighting (inside and outside - maybe a lighted sign?)music would be a huge plus and a website. I went to this restaurant with my father. The atmosphere was nice but the service and the food was just okay. The waitress did bring all the food that a part of the meal. I had to remind her and what made it more interesting is she tried to tell me that the food that was missing was not a part of the meal. I had to invite her to check the restaurants menu. We ended up getting the food but "really?" As for the food, I think I had my hopes up too high because of the radio commercial. Both of us had the crab cakes and the are not "lump" as advertised. I didn't like it and neither did my dad. The sides were alright. I don't know, I was disappointed and don't plan to go back. read more
