This was a attempt to try something new. The server was very informative on the food. We had a dish appetizer called octubites different and delicious. They have a 10 menu with a meat choice and 2 sides. I choose a chicken quarter black beans and coleslaw. Hubby order a Dino rib with plantain and coleslaw. All was good the 3 sauces for the meat were ok. The music playing made you want to dance. WOULD RECOMMEND AND COME AGAIN.

I'll start with the food... Everything that in the pictures is what we ate. For me and my husband its a 5/5. The beef rib is fall of the bone. The picanha is mouthwatering and the pork belly is crispy. The green sauce that they have and the habanero is perfect pair for the meats. Service is 5/5 a shout-out for our server Cesar who recommended what's best in the menu, and super attentive. The space inside is kind of small but they have outside dining.

Antonio will lie to you and say the food is good.... He knows the truth and chooses to spread misinformation. Boo that man.

Sloppy Seconds Bar & Grill is located along Holland Rd. and is near the Holland Plaza Shopping…read moreCenter in Virginia Beach. They are just south of where Holland Rd. merges into Independence Blvd. My most recent visit here was on April 23, 2026. From the outside of the business, it does stand out a bit with the large name above the entrance. You can definitely see it if you look from Holland Rd. I had seen it too when traveling down that road, but I finally came in for the first time on March 10, 2026 after leaving the Voter Registrar's Office not too far from there. Upon entering, it wasn't too busy yet, but it was a little before 4 pm, so it was still early for the evening dinner rush. The inside of the place definitely has the bar scene vibe with the bar area and televisions showing sports there, with closed captioning on. One of the bartenders said we could find a spot to be seated. My mom and I went to one of the booths available. It was just seconds later that our server came over, welcomed us here, bringing menus over, and introduced herself. The first question is always asking about what to drink. I continue to go with my usual, which is water with lemons, while my mom got Coke. After having some time to look over the menu, when we got our drinks, my mom and I were both ready to order. I decided to go with the Sloppy Joe Samich with Onion Rings as the side item, but subbing Pepper Jack Cheese instead of American Cheese. My mom decided to do an appetizer as the main course, which was the Loaded Nachos Half Size Portion. A little less than 10 minutes later, our food orders came to the table, and they looked really good, and when we went to try it out, they were definitely hot too. The Sloppy Joe Samich ended up being really good and hit the spot for me. The onion rings were good too, and were a bit of an indulgence for me. My mom really liked the Loaded Nachos and that had good flavor to it as well. Our server also told us about various specials they have through the week, so this would warrant future visits for us too. The next few visits would be on Thursdays, as they have a $7 Burger Night Special beginning at 5 pm. For those next visits (including the most recent one, except for the April 6 visit), I would end up getting the Bacon Cheeseburger With Fries (additional cost to change the side item for specials). My mom also did a few types of burgers on these visits, one being the Cowboy Burger. Every time, the burgers came out as expected and hot. The fries were really good too, as I usually do pepper on them instead of salt. There was one additional visit on April 6th, which was a Monday. We came in that day for the Fried Shrimp Basket Special. That one comes with Fried Shrimp and Fries, and is available all day. The shrimp were really good and filling too. Overall, the food, service, atmosphere, and specials have been great here. I really feel like they are a hidden gem. When it comes to sodas, they did carry Coke products, but as of the middle of April 2026, they are now serving Pepsi products. I want to note that there is a 3% order processing fee, likely for anyone paying by a card instead of cash. Even when I have been there at busier times, parking was never an issue. It feels like a family atmosphere too. On the most recent visit, they even stated that they notice us as regulars here now. If you're looking for a different place that serves more than just burgers, this place is worth checking out, as I have not seen a place around yet that has the Sloppy Joe type samich.

The next night, I didn't want to spend lollygagging in front of the TV at the Hilton, so I popped over to Voodoo again to cheers the end of a long, Yelpy work trip with another glass of that dreammmmy cream soda. (If they only they distributed in WA state!) The crowd was a little lighter, but still lively as that night's band was playing some 80s hits. Live music + friendly service + tasty bevvies? Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

I love corned Beef & Cabbage. Theirs was perfect. Served with whipped potatoes and whole carrots. I asked our server if the potatoes could be substituted for a double order of cabbage the next time and she said she was sure it could but may have a little extra charge. My Friend chose Jagerschnitzel. A German dish consisting of hand-flattened, fried pork loin, topped with onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad and green beans. She seemed pleased with her choice. Park Lane gives a welcoming vibe that makes me think of the old TV show Cheers. The kind of place that makes you feel like everyone knows your name. Sit at the bar, a high top table near the bar and watch The Big Game or take a seat on the other end of the restaurant and have a Family dinner or maybe a table for two. Park Lane Tavern is a perfect choice.

Such a great variety. Fresh fruit of all kinds, french toast, waffles and chicken, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage , scrabbled eggs, quiche, house potatoes, deviled eggs, and a charcuterie board . On the sweet side they had mini cinnamon rolls, danish, brownies, cookies and cupcakes with the galentine theme. The lovely staff were genuinely happy to take photos for us without any prompting. The flow of the buffet was perfect, and the food presentation was delightfully charming! There was a photo back drop available and the decor was so festive, and classy yet simple. The decor wasn't over the top , it was just the right amount of decorations to add pizzazz and celebrate with festive spirit. We all had a very enjoyable time celebrating Galentine's day! It was a wonderful event in an equally wonderful space. The music was on point, as well as the volume level. It was loud enough to enjoy the music, yet low enough that you could hold a conversation without screaming to hear each other. It was very peaceful and even if you don't choose a booth, the tables on the opposite side of the bar do provide some privacy due to the small partitions. The variety of food offered was just right (not overwhelmingly too many options and not too little options) and the food was tasty. It was an excellent first impression that left me excited to await what other fun events they will hold in the future.
