I grew up bank fishing at Ditto more times than I can count. For bank fishing it is just fine. We had our Senior Skip Day at Ditto, also, which was big fun back in the early 80s. My sorority rented the small pavilion for a picnic reunion which was a good time, like Angela said, "in the golden years of my youth," :D Since Mom lives around the corner, she and I, (and my fav. Sister) have driven Mom to and around Ditto to stop and eat lunch, enjoying the view of the TN river, and just take Mom on a "joyride." Yesterday, Mom and I did a Ditto visit and, sweet 88 year old Mom summed it up as she was reading the ancient "beautification award" outside the larger pavilion, she said "beautification award - for what?!?!?!" :D Ditto has always had so much potential to be a true destination for **so** long and it just falls short. I can't count the times local news would announce a restaurant coming to Ditto and then the masterplan to develop Ditto into a destination (uploaded to the photos) was so exciting! These great plans never seem to materialize. I get it - it floods; however, the masterplan seemed to have mitigation plans for that. I attended an event (wine tasting maybe) in large pavilion in the 80s and it looks like, as of yesterday, the pavilion has had zero updates and hardly much upkeep since then. I didn't bother walking in to get a look see, it was just unappealing from the parking lot, which is in crappy shape, too. I'm happy we have Ditto, and it is a nice place for a shady picnic by the marina, and the smaller Winstead Pavilion was a nice area for my sorority picnic/reunion. It's covered (of course) and has at least one ceiling fan, with easy parking. I just wish Huntsville's masterplans materialized more often than they seem to, and again, wish Ditto was more than a harbor, campsites, RV hookups, a small children's playground, ample fishing from the banks, pavilions, and dry docks. read more

No signage or direction on where to check in, had to call to find out where. Was put in a site by the road which most were. No real trees around so no buffer from the road noise. You had to park on a giant rock hump. garbage on the site was everywhere. The area up front was not mowed or kept up in any way. There are no amenities up here, just in the back by the marina. The road was rough to park our RV. No military discounts. so if you are desperate for a one night stay, go for it. I will not be back. read more

Great little spot to visit even without camping or boating, as there is fishing holes around the landing and a nice scenic walk alongside the river with a view of the bridge insight. Can be busy on weekends but it's free to park and take a quick stroll if you're into that. read more

We have been at Ditto for 3 weeks and it has been a very positive experience. It's sad to see all negative reviews, but I do believe the changes they are making will make an impact on those that had a not so great experience. I believe it's an old "camp ground" and somewhere down the road they extended to RV's. It is RUSTIC but I believe they are working hard to improve each guests' experience and their customer service is what prompted me to give such a positive review. We have not had access to the pavilion as they are renovating it - that should be great when it's done. We haven't seen much "trash" and people should clean up after themselves! But seriously, customer service means a lot to me. Give it a try if you are in the area. The new lot, that has the sewer hook up will be done soon. In the meantime, the dumping area is workable. read more

The view is beautiful. The walking trail is nice. The worst part of camping here are the unkept dirty nasty smelly bathrooms. The shower curtains and "doors" to the toilets (they are just shower curtains) are falling down and nasty. Also there are never any toilet paper as well. At the camp sites picnic tables and grills are broken or falling down. They keep talking about bettering the place and building this or that. What they really need to do first is some work on what they have now. read more

In the golden years of my youth, my family would come down to Ditto Landing to put in the boat and head out for some skiing on the Tennessee River. There are multiple boat ramps, so we never had to wait too long to get in and get out. There's plentiful trailer parking. As kids, we were always quite impressed by the forklifts that brought the boats out of dry storage and deposited them into the water. We dreamed about the days when our family would be able to do that, rather than having to deal with the boat trailer. When you're 10, all the effort of getting the boat on and off the trailer doesn't seem worth the fun on the water. We also camped at the camp grounds a few times here. There's not much too them - better if you've got an RV. The main draw is the proximity to the river. You can fish off the rocks, but we never managed to catch much ourselves. This used to be way down on the edge of town, but with the new subdivisions going in, it's really not that far away. There are also slips available to rent, with quite a few sailboats and the like. And spaces that are good for events - nice views of the water and good sized. We've been to several anniversary parties here. Seeing as it's the closest access to the water not on Redstone Arsenal, it's a good place to put in to enjoy some time on the water. #Yelp365 - 106/365 read more

This is a good spot to Stay for a night or two, that's it. People are slobs. They leave trash in fire pits in sites. Bathrooms have no doors, only curtains. No soap. Men's room had one stall w no paper and one stuffed up that had paper. Sites are under trees so it's shady and cooler. Don't use dump station! It's all setup but even after you tighten up house to rv it leaks! Not many places for rvs in Huntsville so this is still a good backup. read more

This could be a great spot right on the Tennessee River, ten mins. from Huntsville & the NASA Space Center, but it's not. The grounds are poorly maintained perhaps because this area floods from the river. There were deep ruts in the dirt beside the sites and the asphalt had broken down, which made parking a challenge. The area is wooded, which is great as it was 90 degrees in mid-May with lots of bugs, no doubt due to the standing water in numerous places. We had decided ahead of time to stay two nights as the other parks in the area were full. When I went to take a shower, I was really glad I had shower shoes. The bath/shower area was literally filthy. Toilet paper on the floor, standing water in some areas, shower curtains and rods lying in a heap. It hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Thankfully someone had put several folding chairs in there because there weren't any hooks or benches to put your things. Someone actually had put out a cigarette in one of the soap dishes. Some of the toilets looked like there was feces spread on them! In spite of all that the shower was hot & it was a good shower head. I got in & out fast. This place seems to have some permanent residents who look a bit unsavory. Some trailers look like relics & the vehicles do, too. Yet, there were some pretty fancy motor coaches here as well. Because this is adjacent to a marina, I'm guessing people come up here to camp & go boating. This could really be a cool place is someone had the money to fix it. read more

We pulled into marina and fueled up and pumped out. Then our port engine wouldn't start! The staff helped us all the way, providing the power cord we needed, walking our boat over to the slip, and giving us their after hour number if we had more issues. wow! Zero stars was not an option so one it is. First off we drove into camp to pick out a site. Assuming if any were reserved they would have a reserved sign like 100 percent of all other camp grounds. Nope the one we picked and had already started rolling out camp and tent was reserved and we had to pack it up. I told my wife we would just go home since they were to lazy to even put a reserved sign up. Half the campsites either didn't have fire rings or grills or a pick nick table. Pretty run down and crappy campground. I want even bother putting in my boat there anymore. Better to make the trip to Guntersville lake and fish way better waters. read more

This is an awesome place for events. The river is gorgeous and the pavilion has really nice facilities. Planning to take the family up to check it out one weekend soon. Looks like a nice place to walk around and visit, maybe wet a line, then roll into Huntsville for a little more sight seeing. read more

This place is quiet and peaceful. Not too many amenities because most of the attention is spent at the marina, but that is just what we like. If you arrive after closing, just pick your spot and pay the next morning. I guess some people don't know how that works. We were treated great and their crew was friendly. Had a big wind knock down some tree limbs. They had two guys cleaning it up rather quickly. read more
