    Elderflower cosmo

Had a pleasant experience here a few days ago. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. She wanted something low key and this was perfect. It wasn't too busy. Becky was our server and she was great. There's outdoor and indoor seating. There's a cool speakeasy downstairs called, "Blind Pig." I went once and had a great time. The menu offers enough options for everyone to find something. I wasn't starving so I opted for the Thai beef salad. It was very filling and tasty. I enjoyed the elderflower cosmo. I would get it again. The prices are fair! They do have happy hour! There's a parking lot but it can get crowded.

I like the Dive Bar & Grille. Great location and friendly staff. Today's visit was different from past experiences. Sitting at the bar, service was slow, and several minutes had gone by before we received any services. I ordered the Flank Steak Frites, beans and rice, and sautéed spinach. I ordered my steak medium-rare. About half of it was a touch over medium. Good flavor, but I only ate half. The espresso martini was good. Too much water from shaking it up so it was a bit on the weaker side than I have had. Overall, decent meal and experience. I will definitely visit again.

Great spot to enjoy the nice weather. They have a patio deck with outdoor seating that overlooks the river and other buildings. We came with a group of 6 and enjoyed a variety of food including burgers, salad, chicken and Reubens. The tarot tots are amazing and come as a side option. Lots of beer and cocktails to choose from and great service.

Excellent food! My first time and had a great time. So many things on the menu I want to try. Will definitely be back to visit.

Overall: okay food, lots of drinks and draught beers, service was lacking, casual ambiance, inclusive single-stall restrooms, changing pad available I love Savage Mill. This place is where Ramshead used to be. It has a large menu, large selection of draught beers and other drinks. I didn't see any mocktails. They have some weekday specials and host trivia. They have multiple different places to sit. There were two large tables on the side which were nice to sit large parties of 8-12ish. The menu was huge with lots of options. Not a lot on the menu got me excited but I was pleasantly surprised with the drunken shrimp. It had good flavor and a little bit of spice. They fried over the shrimp tails which was a little hard to figure out where to eat and not eat. Our server didn't check on us very often and we had to continually ask for things like water.

Lunch time at the Dive Bar & Grille

When is a medium-rare burger fully cooked? . Ok... rhetorical question. I stopped in for a quick lunch while in town. Only three other patrons were seated, yet no staff checked back in after dropping the food at my table. My order was "no onions" -- but it came with onions anyway and too well done. Attention to detail clearly wasn't on the menu. On the positive side, the space is nicely decorated, with a classic Mill look that gives it character. Unfortunately, the food and service lived up to the "Dive" part of the name. They missed the mark here. Maybe they perform better when it's busier? If so, that's not a great business model. For me, the experience didn't measure up.

The dive bar and grill is anything but a dive bar. The food is excellent, the ambience is slightly more upscale but the prices are reasonable. Stopped in before the ghost tour which would be taking me through the mill mall. This place had some loaded nachos which were some of the best I've ever had. Plenty of chips, plenty of toppings, and layers is cheese. Additionally I had the Brussel sprouts which were good but the chips were better. I also had a Moscow mule while here and it was typical. I would ask more for of a punch in it and less ginger beer. Service was great and I enjoyed taking about the local haunts to get an idea of what else was good.

Oh my! The salmon and sweet potato totter tots with the cinnamon sauce is a fan favorite. Conveniently located at the Historic Savage Mill mall. I stopped by one night after "Girls Night Out" and I was not disappointed. They have plenty of seating with a down and upstairs dining room. Plenty of options on the menu and delicious drinks.

Macho Man Reuben -- that shouldn't be called a reuben.
    Bill C.

Meh! I ordered the reuben, which is my favorite sandwich and my goto if I'm at a new sandwich place. Dive Bar has three variations on a reuben. So, I figured I should try one. Really, I shouldn't have. I'm actually not sure why they call it a reuben. It might have been a better sandwich if it wasn't so unlike a reuben. The fries, the slaw, the tomato?? What was I thinking ordering that?

This is a BEAUTIFUL space especially on the outside deck. There is live music, a pool table. The service was really good. I did enjoy my food( beef taco) and drink ( mojito). There is a public parking lot . It's a great day night, solo night, family or friends night hangout spot.

    Happy hour drink menu

Another Happy Hour review, you ask? Absolutely! I visited Dive Bar with a group last Friday. I wasn't sure exactly where it was until I pulled up and realized it's in the Savage Mill building - how exciting! I hadn't been there in years. The venue, formerly home to Rams Head Live, offers plenty of space, with both an upstairs and downstairs area that can accommodate many guests. We tried a few dishes, starting with the Buffalo Wings flavored with Old Bay. They were okay, but nothing too exciting. The flavor was there, but they didn't stand out as anything special. The Hanger Steak & Fries was ordered by a friend and she said it was good although it was cold. I did try the fries from another's plate since my food was still not out yet and the were good - love places that cut their own fries! When my food finally came, I dug into that hummus! The platter was decent. The hummus itself was tasty, and I liked the addition of tomato, which balanced the saltiness well. However, I wasn't a fan of the black bean dip. I tried it, but didn't go back for more as it just didn't suit my taste. I ended up dipping everything (except my naan) in the hummus, trying to keep it low carb. I also enjoyed the Baked Pretzel Sticks, though the beer cheese wasn't what I expected. It was thick and lacked the smooth, cheesy flavor I was hoping for. One of my friends had the Crab Dip and said it was good - though I didn't get to try it. It looked like the usual crab dip without lump meat, so I wasn't too excited to try it myself. The standout for me was the Passion Fruit Paloma - it was amazing! I enjoyed it so much that I had others at the table try it too. While it wasn't on the happy hour menu, it was only $10 and definitely worth it. One downside was the service. Initially, the drinks weren't being made at the bar, which was confusing. As the night went on and service remained slow, we ended up going to the bar ourselves to place drink orders. I'm not sure if there's a separate bar for diners, but that could explain why drinks were taking longer than expected. The biggest issue, though, was the wait for food. We noticed that people who arrived after us were getting their food before we did, which was frustrating. When I asked our server if he needed help, he assured me he did have assistance, but the service was still extremely slow. I would go back for the drinks and sit at the bar

We started with the fried calamari. The breading was light and the calamari was very tender. It was probably one of the best calamari appetizers we have had out of dozens of restaurants we have been to. For the main dishes, we had the rattlesnake pasta. This is a pasta dish made with rotisserie chicken, mushrooms, red yellow and green peppers in a Cajun Alfredo sauce. The sauce was not too spicy with just enough bite. It was excellent. I don't usually care for mushrooms but this dish was amazing. The portion sizes were huge. Enough, that we were able to make another meal for the two of us with the leftovers. For dessert we had the cheesecake with oreo cookie crust. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. She was helpful with suggestions. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and spacious. It is decorated with beautiful wood trim. The booths can easily sit six people each. The dining area is huge. I estimate that it can sit anywhere from two hundred to three hundred if not more guests. Soothing music was played throughout the restaurant. There is a bar serving mixed drinks and beer as well as soft drinks. The restrooms are spotless and just as beautiful as the rest of the restaurant. The rotisserie chicken is made fresh and cooked in a rotisserie pit right next to the kitchen. We will be going back with family to try their prime rib. Prices are slightly above average but warranted. You are paying for an elevated dining experience with both the food quality and ambiance. There is ample parking in a large parking lot. The restaurant also offers a separate dining area for special events with outdoor dining. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant.

Monday is lobster night, and my partner is a big lobster fan. The lobster here (I'm told) was excellent and the restaurant provided the right tools to get all the lobster meat. The sides my partner got - mashed potatoes and spinach - both were good. The potatoes were "real" and the spinach very garlicky. I got the grilled fish - hake. It was well prepared and my two sides, rice and slaw, were both very good. I wouldn't say better than at other seafood restaurants, but good. We started with a bowl of Maryland crab soup, which had a nice broth (very Old Bay-y) and chunks of crab. Tasty soup. The service was good with food brought promptly and good water service. We drink a lot of water and the server came over multiple times to refill our glasses. The restaurant is very nice inside, bright with a nautical theme. The bar was very popular during happy hour and the restaurant looks popular with couples and families. One big disappointment was that we were not offered and didn't receive the complimentary muffins. (They are buttermilk cheese muffins with citrus honey butter.) I later saw on Yelp people praising the muffins and the pictures looked great. I assumed they had discontinued them because I didn't see them at any tables. I did reach out to the owner afterward by email and he told me that they still routinely offer the muffins for the table and that this must have been a "lacking in my server training steps." So, please - if you are not offered the muffins (which look fantastic and I hear from others on Yelp that they are), please ask for them. I'm going to deduct a point for the muffin issue. Honestly, I spent $100 for dinner for two with tip and feel like a person should get the full restaurant experience. I'm a big fan of specialty breads and have been to other restaurants where they put a nice basket of bread on the table. I really feel disappointed by this experience.

The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

We didn't get the rundown of the daily specials (yet overheard them being given to the booth behind us), and a few small service details slipped through--but I'm giving him grace based on his newness. One thing I noticed from Yelp reviews is that bread is usually served automatically. We had to request it, especially after seeing tables seated after us get theirs first. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. We ordered several appetizers, and honestly, they were filling enough to be a full meal: * Ribs - Flavorful, tender, and genuinely falling off the bone. The portion sizes were a bit inconsistent--some pieces were cut shorter than others--but the texture was on point. I'd definitely return for these. * Brussels Sprouts - Patrick didn't mention they were shareable, which would've been helpful. I did like the flavor, but in hindsight I'm glad we pivoted to... * Crab Dip - This one missed for me. The flavor leaned more tuna-ish than crab-forward. Not my preference, but you may feel differently. * Shrimp in Spicy Butter - Definitely spicy, but somehow still flavorless. More like spicy water than a seasoned butter sauce. The one bonus? They were served piping hot--exactly how I like my food. * French Fries - Hand-cut and tasty. A solid win. Unfortunately, everything except the shrimp came out lukewarm, which took away from dishes that could've been great. Temperature matters! On the drink side, though? Hits all around. The fresh-pressed beet juice was fantastic, and the sweet tea was also on point. We skipped dessert only because we were full, but I'm already planning to come back specifically to try it--along with the ribs and fries again. Overall, I'm hoping this was just an off day. When we arrived we were seated quickly. A lot of items stood out to us on the menu so we went back and forth on what to order but it did take a little bit for someone to come take our order. Ultimately we landed on the peach cobbler French toast, cinnamon roll French toast, and a 1/2 and 1/2 lunch special with chicken & waffles and a cup of jambalaya. I was told the peach cobbler French toast was really good. The cinnamon roll French toast was prepared perfectly. Not soggy which was surprising given how much syrup and melted cream was on the plate. It was just VERY sweet. It also came with a side of eggs and brown sugar sage sausage patties. I loved the sausage patties and 2 was just enough. The chicken and waffles were good, the chipotle honey that came on the side complimented the chicken really well. The jambalaya had potential, but could have been seasoned a bit heavier. I also ordered the raspberry peach palmer and it was bombbb. I'd absolutely recommend another broken egg and will definitely stop in again if there's a location nearby.

On my way back from Virginia I needed some breakfast and found this restaurant and stopped in. Although they have a nice outdoor area it was warm and humid on this day and I wanted to sit in the air conditioning. I was seated immediately and provided a menu. I was a little surprised by the prices on the menu as I expected it to be a little less than it was. My server came by shortly after and asked about drinks and I got water. A few minutes later he came back and I ordered the peach cobbler French toast which looked good but probably look better in the picture then when it arrived. The presentation wasn't very good as it was just thrown on a plate and not really well presented to me. It tasted good it was very sweet but it was good. One of the things that reduced the star was both the presentation and the fact that the syrup that was presented to me in the cup had a layer of film over it and when I went to pour it over my French toast it wouldn't pour until I pierced the film covering the syrup. The eggs over medium and the well done bacon that I ordered came out perfectly and were very good. It was starting to get busy when I was ready to leave and it took a little longer for my server to bring my check and also then pick it up. All in all it was a good meal, and I will be back but I will try something else the next time I come in. I definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try.
