I'm an active duty military member, I went into this bar with my military buddies to have a couple beers and chill out. Went straight to the back and started talking, noticed a coors light sign behind the bar. Me and my buddies started talking about it when a random woman came over and started being very disrespectful under the assumption that we're we're "talking shit" about the owner being overweight. When we tried to explain to her that we weren't talking about him she kept being disrespectful and cursing at us. After she left us she went to the owner (the person she assumed we were "talking shit about") and convinced him we were disrespecting him. I visited this establishment as a part of the Bar Crawl 12/9/2023. I ordered a one spiked hot cocoa and paid with cash, and the bartender (young with blonde hair) tipped herself before issuing my change without asking. When I questioned her, she lied about it and didn't return the remainder of my change. My sister didn't have this issue when she paid with her credit card. I have no problem tipping and usually tip generously, so this took me by surprise. I know it was a little less than $2, but if you'll take $1-2 without asking, there's no telling what else has been done. read more

Amaretto sours here are the generic premixed and it didn't taste like the bartender knew how to measure out drinks so I ended up w a cup of sour mix on the rocks lol. This place was pretty spacious and well lit compared to other bars in the area. The crowd here was the typical young crowd (20's arena). There was a few folks dancing, but since our group made it here before closing time, it wasn't as packed. Still, there was a good crowd hanging around the front bar area. Horrible bar, a lot of underage drinking the security told people to slide them an extra twenty if they are under 21 to get in.

I decided to drag my friend from her norm and take her this spot that never let me down on a Friday night. What keep me coming back is the vibe and the fact that everyone is down to have a good time whether it's dancing or taking shots. Another plus is admission is free and you're guaranteed to meet new drunks. However, I advise you to Uber to the Dive bar if you're en route on a Friday or Saturday because it's time to get wasted and the street that it's located on have bars galore so it's traffic. I'm one to look on the positive for every situation, try to give people the benefit of the doubt and I'm a very respectable person when it comes to being out in public. However, my friends and I were racially targeted at this establishment based on our looks and I was celebrating my bachelors party with a very mixed group of people, all professional young adults. The guy in admissions took one look at the black people in our party and looked for any reason to deny them entry into the bar. The excuse "we don't allow ripped jeans". However there was at least 7-10 people within viewing distance of the entrance that in fact had ripped jeans and when that was pointed out to the entry person he remind silent and looked away. Completely unacceptable and it's a shame that we have people like that in the world because it doesn't improve our communities in terms of race relations. I immediately told my group of young professionals we do not want to spend our money here and walked down the street to Five Paces and it was a better atmosphere in terms of number of people there so it worked out. I rarely ever use the race card but this place always gives me a hard time. Been denied more than I've been let in. Won't let you wear ear rings or a hat. And if you're not wearing any of that, then they are at capacity. But it's a BS excuse. If any other race comes up wearing a hat or ear rings or when they are at capacity, they let them right in (0_o). I don't know if the person checking IDs is just a racist douche or if it's the establishment as a whole. I've also had other black males mention the same problems and seen many denied for same excuses. I've been let in twice and it's just like a typical bar. But for the most part, I avoid it. Avoid this place. My boyfriend and I tried to enter last night. I'm black, he's white. The bouncer said he could not let him in because of his "graphic tee", but we could clearly see a guy inside with a graphic tee with a band's name on it. My boyfriend didn't try to argue his way in, just gave the bouncer a few choice words and we walked off. I didn't understand why a dive bar would have a dress code like that, but it also contradicted the attire of people already inside. My boyfriend then informs me that this bar has a reputation for being racist. I was really shocked, but I check out the reviews and apparently it's very true. Just sad. To say the least, an absolutely horrendous experience. The beginning of the night was decent..reasonable priced drinks, an easy going, fun crowd...until it was time to leave the bar. You know, I understand the job of a bouncer. Very simple - push people out that the bar doesn't want inside, and keep the people out they don't want coming in. But, in my case, I was heading out and simply left my jacket and tester inside (I am a Type 1 Diabetic). Therefore, I kindly asked the bouncer (white male, heavyset with a huge stick up his ass) if I could go back in to get my jacket. He immediately blurted out there was no jacket inside as if he had already scanned the bar up and down. Again, I kindly mentioned to him that I truly need my jacket, and mainly diabetes supplies as Type 1 Diabetes is a life threatening disease at times. Of course, I was slightly intoxicated at the time and I can assume this caused my demeanor and tone to elevate more than usual (which I would say was appropriate considering I was in need of my supplies at that moment). The bouncer then proceeded to throw me off the stairs onto the ground, where I sprained my finger as well as destroyed my shirt. At this point, I had no choice but to ask around for a ride back to my friend's (as I was visiting for the holidays). Thankfully, I arrived home safe, although the next morning my glucose levels were so high that I could barely see straight (between 400-450). So, for those who want to have a good time, hopefully you will. But be weary of your surroundings - as in my situation, the bouncer could have cared less if I lived or died. I highly suggest keeping everything on you at all times, because you will most likely not have the chance to get them afterwards. read more

I saw from the line white guys wearing ear rings. I think earrings is more a code for skin color. Anyway we took our money some place else, and will never come back here again. The DJs here can be a little ballsy with their music selection and mixing style, which is what I like! The weekdays are, of course, not as busy though its still quite fun! There are plenty of wanderers about and funny antics that you'll see towards the end of the night. This place is filled with greatness when you pay attention to the crazy conversations and oddities. So, prepare yourself if you're ever thinking about starting a night at Dive Bar. It's definitely not a nice place, but most of the patrons don't seem to mind. Some of the bartenders will be upset if you don't tip, so try not to be like the rest of the college crowd whom are usually cheap. Grant yourself some of the specials that they serve here, and they're generally great specials and worth the deal. Even the regular priced beverages are priced well. Overall, its a friendly place that has a bunch of jerks sprinkled around it. I got over the crazy weekends and started going Tuesdays, which is an odd day, I know but it worked for me. read more

DUUUUUUUDEEEEE this place is SUPER fun!!! I always wonder why the bars I go to get mediocre reviews, but I had a great time here. Maybe it was the crowd that happened to be there on Thursday night, or the two guys I came with?? Anyways, the drinks were pretty cheap, (I do not actually remember how much, but it couldn't have been too much, right?) and the interior is a little nicer than your standard dive bar. Another cool thing about this place were the employees. I asked the bartenders to a take a picture of my friends and me, and they ended up taking some selfies of themselves, too LOL. Oh and I have to give a shoutout to Suzanna (not sure if I spelled your name right...) She is the manager of the place, and was out chatting with some of the patrons. I will definitely be coming back here when I stop by in Atlanta again! Oh, and in response to the few reviews I read that said Dive Bar is racist: that's nonsense!!! I am Asian, and I totally got in. No, it isn't really a dive bar, in the same way that Hard Rock Cafe isn't really a rock club, and Taco Mac doesn't know the first thing about Tacos. It is Buckhead's attempt at kitsch and irony, but so what? Its pretty fun, the crowd has energy, and believe it or not, a fairly healthy mix of people and ages. Oops, never wrote a review on this place! After NYE dinner, our group took a cab to Buckhead Saloon to continue our drink fest. I'm not sure about the cost of any of the drinks because, well, I didn't pay for any of them haha. The place was SUPER packed, so that's gotta tell you something. Music was okay, though for a good 20 minutes, it was all girl power songs after the other. The drinks were mixed well, and there were plenty of pretty girls (and creepers, but hey, it's a bar). It made for a pretty good night but we didn't stay too long since it was so packed, so we wandered down the street. Oh, and we didn't run into the problem with paying for parking, or wrestling to get our keys back, since we took a cab, like I mentioned earlier. Fast forward a bit, and we (another group) were considering of coming here, but we couldn't because some of the guys have earrings. WTF? Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. All of the employees at this bar are sexist and disrespectful. One of the bouncers made my friend and I leave out the back door for using the men's restroom. We were the only people waiting and a woman came out of the same stall before me and didn't receive the same treatment. I asked him to speak to a manager because We were being treated unfairly and he replied "you can speak to these nuts, that's the manager". Then I asked if he could just escort us out the front because the back was an abandoned, dark, patio that seemed like it was a house still under construction. We didn't feel safe walking out that way. He said he didn't care. So we walked out the back way, stumbling over debris and struggling to even see which way is out. We finally make our way back to the front and tell the bouncer how poorly this situation was handled. He proceeds to tell me "oh yea that guy doesn't even really work here" ....... ????????? What does that even mean???? ..... the bartender treated us with the same apathy and was no help at all. We wanted to speak to the person in charge and he replied "do you want a shot instead?" ....... completely unprofessional and rude. The man who originally kicked us out sees us later and grabs my drink out of my hand and pours it on the ground. He then proceeds to grab both my arms and push me out. He's about twice my size, I'm defenseless. My friend pours her drink on him in my defense. Thankfully, there was a nice man outside who stepped in and pushed him off of me yelling "you can't touch a woman like that" .... the cop outside wasn't doing anything to help either. In my quest to find a Buckhead bar that fulfilled my not-smelling-like-an-ashtray-the-next-morning requirement, I happened upon The Dive Bar. While there is smoking going on, the bar is open enough (both through the front and back) for it not to be as much of an issue as, for example, the bar next door. They have $6 Bacardi bombs (shots of flavored Bacardi dropped in Red Bull) and fairly reasonable drink prices. Plus they play music and the two restrooms aren't completely disgusting so that's nice. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Was having a fine time with my friends until one of our friends who was outside attempted to enter. He was wearing a plain white tee shirt, which apparently is not allowed according to their hidden dress code sign. One of my friends from the inside went to hug my friend was was not let in because of his shirt, the bouncer proceeded to yell at him to get out (he was not even in the bar) after this my friends and I stood near the entrance and watched as the bouncer let in many people with plain white and black tee shirts. They noticed we were watching and switched out the bouncer who then started picking some people to turn away but still was letting others in who violated their dress code. The bouncers then proceeded to kick us out by having a drunk off duty coworker tell us to leave. They also made comments to us as we left the bar. Will never be back. read more

I would avoid this place at all costs. Any place that uses their poorly enforced dress code as a way of denying people because of their skin color is a no go for me. Went last night with a group of friends and one of our friends was denied because of his black tshirt, please don't try to tell me that is not a race thing when your excuse is "it's not a graphic t" when I can clearly see that your sign says those aren't allowed either AND I see a gentleman inside with a dark grey t shirt and a guy with a black tshirt that says "big butts club." I came here to meet with some coworkers. Half the crew was already past security on the deck/patio. I happened to be walking up with three others, two other black women and my Hispanic male friend. I got to the bouncer first and he says "your I.d. Is fake"! I hand it to his colleague, who says "it looks fine to me" but then backtracked once the other guy gave him a look. My guy friend then says "wow he just profiled us!". The crowd was mostly white give or take one or two black guys, so I got the feeling he wanted to keep it that way. Went out with a group of friends, very diverse crowd and was turned down entry at the bar. This was cited as because two in the party of 9 had on "ripped jeans". When we pointed out a multitude of people that had already been admitted to the bar had on ripped jeans it became apparent this was more about the color of the skin the people wearing the jeans had on rather than the jeans themselves. In reading the reviews on this business, discrimination isn't a new theme for this place. Please consider spending your money elsewhere rather than an establishment that seems to encourage this behavior. read more

be careful at this place--paid with my debit card and they returned me someone else's card( I didn't notice because it was from the same bank) and less than 15 minutes later, my card was used at a nearby ATM to take money from my account, they also stole my phone so I wouldn't receive notices from my bank--got me for $500 before the bank stopped it--I still have the other guys debit card and have reported this to the fraud department of my bank. This could have been a mistake , but the quick timing suggests that it was a set up to steal from a debit card--just watch out and check your debit and credit cards read more

FYI people of color are not welcome @ The Dive bar. They run on a quota system when it comes to letting them in. They told my group ( 2 Asians and myself who is black) they were "at capacity" then two seconds later let in 10 people. When confronted about it the bouncer played dumb and then ran and hid behind the nearest police officer. We were not the only ones this happened to. This will be the first of many establishments to be called out on my timeline for discriminatory practices. The Buckhead Bars are extremely discriminatory. This is just one of many times that I have been to this particular establishment, Dive Bar, and watched my male minority friends be denied for petty dresscode violations while my white friends are allowed entry regardless of their dress. Tonight my cousin was denied entry because of his earrings. The last time I was there he was denied because of his jeans had holes in the knee. Before that I was allowed entry, however my Puerto Rican friend was denied for an unknown reason. So, I decided to step out of the line as well and upon noticing my departure, the bouncer let my friend in. This instant let me know that the establishment was clearly discriminating against male patron based on appearance outside of dress. The dress codes were simply modern day Jim Crow regulations. Keep on mind that this is no fancy establishment. It's a college bar on the weekends. I am very disappointed that the City of Atlanta would allow an establishment to treat people so unfairly. From what I have gathered, this unfair treatment has take place for many many years. I hope that this bar and all of those bars are investigated for discrimination along with the bars in Athens. I took photos tonight of the establishment and I will be reporting this particular incident to the BBB and whom ever else it concerns. If you haven't been, the Buckhead Bars are a series of bars that are predominantly visited by Caucasion patrons. If you see or experience discrimination please report it to the Better Business Bureau as I will be doing from this day forward. Don't be silent. You can do something. Wouldn't let me in because I had a soccer jersey on when there was already somebody in there with a Braves jersey on. I argued with them, then saw someone in line with a soccer jersey on like me. I put my arm around him and told him about their bs policy. The bouncer saw this, grabbed the guy, and basically threw him inside without even checking his id. I couldn't believe it. RACIST establishment!!!! If you are a black male, avoid going to this bar at all cost. The bouncer would not let me in because I had on a graphic t-shirt, which is not on the list outside of the door. On top of that , I saw plenty of white people inside with PLAIN t-shirts on, which is prohibited according to the dress code sign. I decided to stand in front of the bar for a little while to observe who would be allowed in with t-shirts on, and of course ALL white males were let in and the black males were denied (exception only if they went in with a group of white males).
