So when a friend suggested we check out this place on a Monday night I was a bit apprehensive, but the lure of free drinks until 11 piqued my interest. When we got there around 9 this place was pretty much dead, but by 12 it was packed and for a Monday night I was surprised, apparently allot of industry folks hit this place up on Monday's. This place was a nice change from Va-Hi and Midtown. It's nestled next to a bunch of other dive bars and casual gathering places in Buckhead, and would be a great stop during a bar crawl. This place isn't truly a "dive", but its a cute place. It was jam-packed this past Friday night, almost to a degree where it was difficult to navigate through the crowd. The DJ played some great music, but there was little dancing due to the shoulder-to-shoulder capacity of the place. Lots of good-looking folk here, although filled with the standard Buckhead "types" rocking khakis and sport coats, and bottle blondes in furry vests. I swear residency in Buckhead must require a nose job and spray tan. Still, this place is a good time. Drinks are moderately priced, and will probably be a hotspot during warmer months. read more

Terrible. Let me see, I had driven an hour and a half to meet up with friends I haven't seen in awhile and to enjoy and experience this part of Atlanta last Saturday evening on 07-12-14. I've been hearing reviews on how it's a great and a great bar to be at. The first time I got up to the line for an I.D. check, this bouncer told me that my sleeveless shirt even with a wife beater underneath wouldn't work for the "dress code" there. So, feeling like I did something wrong or feeling dis informed and not seeing any signs stating of those dress code rules around or on its website and thinking to myself if bars even have strict dress codes like night clubs around town... Well, I decided to walk back to my car to dig for anything other than what I was initially wanting to wear and only found an old tan v-neck. With it already being hot and humid I figured I would just be a good sport and try again. Went up to the line for the 2nd time and he said to me "I can't do the white tee and earrings." What if my ears were gauged? My shirt wasn't even white either. My good friend defended me and asked "what's the difference between your black tee and his white tee? He is harmless " And quickly she got kicked out! You know, there's tons of other customers in there wearing scandalous outfits with flip flops showing nasty toes and all and I do understand how to follow dress codes that appear on obvious signs but this bar didn't have any. Next time just be a bit more professional and don't make me or the people I came with to spend money at your venue feel like we are getting discriminated for wearing or what race is and then what I only had to change into my car. It was extremely inconvenient. On top of that we are people of color and I don't like to think of others being ignorant but that fat-disgusting-color blinded bouncer sure made it seem that way. Coming at customers the wrong way and with this review being said, I'm never "begging" to get in that bar again. Not that serious. So, if you are people of color and wanting to have a safe, fun and humble night out visit other bars surrounding Dive Bar in Buckhead. Thank you. P.s. What i really liked about this place is they have the dancey club music in the front and the rock/acoustic like section in the back so whatever mood youre in youll have variety! i had good mixed drinks and its not terribly overpriced. good crowd .Cool staff. read more

My favorite bar in Buckhead. Been going here for years now and will never stop. The staff is always amazing and the drinks are even better. Always a great crowd and atmosphere. The bouncers are strict but that keeps the bar up to par and always ensures it is filled with a good crowd. Look your best, be respectable and you should have no problem getting in. This is the worst bar in buckhead! In all of my time in Atlanta this is the first time that I experienced blatant racism. My friend and I were waiting in line to use the restroom when two caucasian females shoved passed me then proceeded to shove me out of the bathroom. Several males with the females grabbed my friend upon the assumption that we would retaliate to the assault of their obviously drunk female friends. The two caucasian females then started to scream obscenities at us. A bouncer stood by and just watched as did others in the bar. Embarrassed I grab my friend and tell her that they are not worth it and that we should leave. On the way out my friend decides to tell the door man and cop at the door what happened. First, the cop pulled out his phone and decided to play games as we told them the story. In frustration I tell my friend we should leave because they don't care and are not going to do anything about it. The door man decides this statement is offensive and gets in my tiny five foot frame face and starts yelling at me to "stop giving him attitude!" As a 24 year old woman I have never had anyone talk down to me o menacingly in my life! Oh and they did nothing to the girls that shoved us. If the situation were reversed my friend and I would have been thrown out of the bar and even arrested. The moral of the story; if you are a person of color looking for a diverse place to hang out, this bar is not it. Pure southern racism in the raw. It gets zero stars!! read more

Was there in adjust a month ago for best friends birthday. And other times.... I don't know why I had not given them a review before but the music is great and the place is spacious. We did have someone in the group who was not dressed down at all but under the blazer there was a tshirt and they did not let him in. It is true it's not on list outside but we didn't fight-- there was about 30of us bar hopping the last time anyone else on the strip was ok to take our business ... No complaints just thought I would add that since it keeps being mentioned that they are racist.... They totally are not. We had a diverse group several times there and the ones not getting by we're not particularly black.... read more

I mean, people don't really go to bars based off of reviews, you go to wherever the fun seems to be. Yesterday, saturday night, this place was hopping. It was very crowded inside and had some nice loud music going that had everyone dancing. If this isnt your scene then simply don't go here, but I personally had a fun time. read more

This is probably my favorite bar on the Buckhead strip. My friends and I always end up here and we always have the most fun here! The bar tenders are very attentive and they serve strong drinks. My only complaint is that they play so many pitbull songs there. I wish they would mix up their music a little more but other than that it's such a fun hang out! read more

This is ALWAYS the bar my friends and I go to. Generally we'll go to other bars to get a buzz going on like Kramers or Hangovers but to end the night we go here. This place is so much fun. The music is ALWAYS great and the bartenders are great. You can't ever really go bad at this bar(: Also there's 2 extra bathrooms downstairs that are almost always empty (entrance and immediately to your right). This place is always lots of fun and packed with hot girls. It's always slammed on Fri's and Sat's around 11:30. This is the place to be seen for sure. They have a nice outside patio in the front with a bar and inside they have a huge bar with a dj and dance floor. They just built a giant patio out back that has two bars as well. This place seems to cater to everyone. We always have a great time and the staff is Hot ! read more

This place sucks. An employee literally shoved me to the ground and told me to go f myself. I wish I was joking. When I went to seek a manager I was told none were there. Worst bar in Buckhead. My friend was denied entry for having earrings in his ears. He offered to take them out and then they said he still could not enter because he had holes in his ears. If you think that's a nice way of being racist that's ridiculous. Your establishment should be ashamed of itself. Did the bouncers deny every girl or white person that had earrings? I do not think so. If you want to deny someone entry at least be honest about the reason and if you claim it's not racism then I would like to see every other person kicked out for the same reason. This is a racist institution. I am a white male who went with my girlfriend (who is black) to Buckhead and thought we'd stop in for a quick drink. Walked up to the door and the bouncer told me I wasn't allowed in because they dont allow graphic tees. I replied "are you serious? What if I turn my shirt inside out?" He looked at my girlfriend and replied "Look you guys aren't coming in. Get lost." He then proceeded to let in a group of white guys wearing very similar outfits to me. I was enjoying myself with some friends and family after a year of deployment in Afghanistan. My friend and I were shoved by a female and were kicked out the bar because we were of color. The security came up to me after an hour the indecent occurred . I then explained to him what happen. He then proceed to yell and curse at me and decied to put his hands on my friend. A police officer was there but he didn't anything. It's sad that I dedicated my life to protect this country and this is the way I get treat. They do a good job of staffing here, I usually dont have to wait an astronomical amount of time for a drink like at hangovers or lost dog, the managers seem to have a good grip on the operation. Whenever my friends go out to the village area, I aim to stay here or 5p. read more

Just went here this past weekend... apparently now you can't wear earrings in there if you are a guy? I don't understand the justification for this. The two gentlemen that were denied access for wearing earrings asked if they could just take off the earrings off and either put them in their pockets or throw them in the trash can located right next to the entrance and they were still denied access (mind you they were simple diamond studs.. nothing flashy or innapropriate). They were dressed the same as the other patrons and were not wearing any of the following: baggy clothing, offensive words, holes or tears, rock band shirts etc etc. Usually the bar is pretty fun with cheap drinks but I will be hesitant going back, especially when you can go on their facebook page and see guys wearing earrings in their pictures. read more

Hands down the best bass of any bar in Atlanta! This place is always packed at weekends and is the biggest party bar of the strip along here. They don't play any of that country music junk like in the nearby bars. Definitely one for the younger crowd. read more

My friends and I went to this place last night. In all my years of living in the south I've never experience a place with such racism. The incident that took place was all over because of one the girls (long black hair and sky blue eyes) is "dating" one of the owners of this place. If she feels like you're a threat to her or if she simply don't like you, you don't stand a chance in this place. I have become extremely disappointed, and even out right offended with Dive Bar recently. So much so that I am writing my first ever review on Yelp. I have been living in Buckhead since I relocated to Atlanta for a job 2 years ago, and have been going to all of the bars in the area since day 1. In these two years, I have been to Dive Bar countless times with friends of varying ethnicities, and have seldom had a problem. All that changed when last weekend someone in our party (who just so happened to be African American) was denied entry for "wearing earrings and having on a t-shirt." Upon inquiring with the bouncer why there were other patrons, who were on the patio in plain sight, were allowed in with their t-shirts, he told us it was because they came in before 11 PM (it was conveniently 11:17). I understand that these establishments have the right to refuse service to anyone, and "enforcing the dress code" is the easiest way to keep "unwanted patrons" out, but I was still ashamed and upset nonetheless. Before we left the bar feeling both astonished and rejected, the door man told us that such would be the case at every other bar in Buckhead, to which we scoffed at and left. Thankfully, we ended up going to Park Bench around the corner, and have a good time anyway. None of my friends, myself included, will ever patronize this bar again, and I implore you to do the same. read more

Have been around the Atlanta bar scene for a while and came here with a group to check it out. There are a lot of great places but this is NOT one of them. The service staff and security folks were very rude and not at all helpful. At one point in the night the line for the restroom was so long (besides the fact that female patrons kept going in the men's restroom) I had to leave to go at the place next door. Then when I came back they were not letting any male patrons in, so I had to text a few of the ladies I was with to come up front and get me in. Also towards the end of the night the security staff walked around to kick everybody out and in my opinion was flat out rude shining flashlights and yelling to get the hell out. I was the designated driver for the night so since I was not drinking I think I had a fair judgement of the place. I guess they try to accommodate for people dancing with a DJ and stuff but between the rough looking security guy who kept cramming people toward the bar and all of the other issues that were going on I would defiantly not recommend this place.
