First time signing up for a diving trip to Catalina with this shop that I have not gone on yet. But…read morewhen I called in for a fitting, they did not have enough inventory to fit me for, told me to come later in the week when inventory may possibly come back. Also they tell me that I have to pick up my rental equipment to bring to the dive boat site. I am appalled when someone named Sherrie tells me divers need to own their own equipment like a mask, snorkels and fins and don't have those to rent out even though they are a dive shop. She had a sarcastic and condensing tone with me because she was surprised I did not have my own fins and told me they did not carry my size. She said "Welcome to California! Where are you from?" In my almost twenty years of scuba diving all over the world, I have never been met with such poor customer service, gaslighted for not owning fins, assumes all scuba divers own their own equipment and tells customers to pick up their own rental equipment when we pay them to do so. I have canceled my upcoming trip because I don't feel safe with diving with them and have not been refunded my money yet. I would think twice before paying your money to this dive shop.

So now we can't fill the tank. I called yesterday and Jeff neither apologized or offered to rectify the situation. He just told me I'd need to come in when the "viz specialist" was there. Why? If they're so good at their job, how did they miss that step?! Or, I could go to the Cypress location and any manager there could affix the sticker. Ok, so...only a "viz specialist" at the HB store, and a manager at Cypress?! Make it make sense! Horrible staff and customer service. You guys should stay closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

My first dive post-certification was with Ruth, and her enthusiasm for sharing her dive park "office" with everyone is contagious! She took her time going through the steps, getting to know us, and preparing us for our dive. Fast forward 2 years to now, and I planned a trip with my boyfriend who wanted to try diving. I knew exactly who to call! Ruth made sure we were all set throughout the booking process, gave clear instructions for accessing the training beforehand, and explained what we would need to bring the day of. She has such a fantastic teaching style, helping to make scuba skills more relatable to everyday tasks. She is patient and does not rush. Once in the water, my boyfriend was feeling stressed about completing the initial skills and getting used to breathing underwater. Ruth maintained her patience and composure the entire time. She was encouraging and lead with kindness, and helped him through the initials nerves and panic. Once we were off, Ruth does a great job of leading dives, pointing out sea life and many things that you might miss if you are new to diving. It is by far my favorite dive experience, and we will be lifelong customers!

And usually to me and my puppy every time we come to the store, AND the parking lot is huge! Never have an issue. I appreciate how large this space is and everything is neatly organized and you know where to find all the items for various activities, sports and weather! Tons of brands and selections. I especially appreciate the sports basementeees discounts especially on yoga clothes or other athleisure wear. I also really like that if for some reason something isn't working out with the item I purchase, I know I can bring it back in (within reason and appropriate timeframe!). The value of items here are top notch and I'm always happy to support this retailer. So glad to have one in Orange County! Definitely a great place to look for high quality, durable and affordable clothing and accessories - perfect for any adventure!

We've been here so many times that I finally had to leave a review--especially for Jesus (pronounced just like the name in the Bible). This place is HUGE! They have everything--bikes, sports apparel, camping gear, rentals, and more. Plenty of parking, conveniently located right off the 405, they price match, and the membership is actually worth asking about. I'm usually not a membership person, but we come here so often that it pays for itself. Jesus is amazing. We brought in my son's Co-op DRT 3.3 for what we thought would be "just brakes." It turned into new brake pads, a chain, spoke alignment, shock adjustment...you know, the full bike spa treatment. (Part of it was his---well...thanks to my son's curiosity and love of "tinkering.) Even though we picked up the bike right at closing time, Jesus never rushed us. He patiently explained every repair, answered all of our questions, and even taught my 14-year-old how to better maintain his bike. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does and enjoys encouraging young riders. Fast turnaround, fair prices, great service, and no long waits like we've experienced elsewhere.
