Hobie Pro Angler 14
Marco D.

I wish Yelp had more stars, I've read the reviews and honestly was a little hesitant to buy from here. I was in the market for a pro angler 14 and called ahead to see what was in stock. Not only did I talk to the owner but he was MORE than happy to help me, he never made me feel like I was a waste of time and to be honest he went above and beyond in explaining everything there was to know about the kayak I was interested in. And this was BEFORE the sale. It gets better, once I placed the order he called me personally to thank me for the order and requested I see him when I went to pick it up. That's customer service, he also showed me everything I needed to know loaded the kayak for me and really made me feel at home. They have made a customer for life, and I fish a ton. If your reading this because of other reviews on here, I urge you to give this place your business. It has everything and anything you want at a reasonable price. Some of these bad reviews are outright ridiculous. People get busy mistakes are made, we are human. I was treated more than fair, and I'm happy I gave Melton my business.

There are trails to access different parts of the lake. Many people circle around the lake or fish recreationally. Signs around the lake continue to prohibit feeding the wildlife. I'm happy with the pictures I took, but I can still improve. The experience was decompressing with sounds of flowing creek water and birds chirping all around the air.

Parking is easy with a large lot right next to the lake, opposite of the lake are some hiking trails if you have more time. It's a nice loop going around with some different areas along the way such as a small creek, reeds near the shore, and some water works that looks like they have been turned off or no longer function. Even in Winter there are a lot of different birds around. My kids loved following and chasing the large pelicans in the lake. You can fish here and there are children's fishing competitions. Just keep in mind to have a permit because when we went there was a police officer checking and ticketing people.

Just dirt and rocks and sun!! I'm so glad we had chairs and a big beach umbrella in the trunk! There were people renting the big flat style boat to go out to the middle of the lake, excited they were going to get some fish out there! Nothing. I felt bad for them, $110 to rent it all for nothing. HERE IS THE REAL KICKER!! It was something similar to the Wild Alaska show... there were people in the office hooping, woot woot*-cheering and high fiving one another! What the heck! Posing! Holding a huge fish by the gills, ironically his buddy was snapping pictures, and taking selfies so newcomers coming in the gate would see them. Gees. It was fake!! They most likely caught that fish somewhere else or bought it at the Asian market. Wow. We left, and I made the comment to the office guy that we never even got a nibble. So disappointed. He said we most likely came at the wrong time of the day. (Whatever, dude)!! They sure did take everyone's admission fees, boat rental money, sold crappy $6 bait and $12 weights. They couldn't care less that they were ripping people off that just wanted to go out and catch a couple/few fish to take home. Good luck to everyone, there's got to be a lake that actually has fish to catch!! Let me know if you know of one. We want to go!

The playgrounds are so much fun for our kids and it is also a great space for picnics too. There is a lot of parking here and it's never too busy. The display also showed $5 for weekends and $3 midweek. We wanted to do the Redwood trail and were directed to parking lot A. The park is big and beautifully landscaped with a pond and various picnic areas that can be rented in advance. There is enough space to set up all kinds of games. We brought a picnic lunch and sat on a bench that was perfectly situated alone amongst the desert plants. After lunch, we followed the signs for the Redwood Grove Trail which was labeled as easy and is a 1.5 miles dirt trail to the Redwood trees. When you arrive you'll see a small Redwood forest with the history of the trees displayed before you enter. A really beautiful and peaceful spot to relax for a bit. On our way back we decided to take the Creek Trail to see where it would lead us. I was hoping to see water at the end of this trail. But, we only saw a bunch of rocks at one point that may be filled with water if it rains. The end of this trail did lead us to a beautiful butterfly garden and the opposite end of the park. We made the walk back and stopped at the pond. There appeared to be other trails surrounding the park and a trail that leads to the Carbon Canyon Dam.
