After diving by with other companies on Oahu, this company was a breath of fresh air. To start off I already felt like a nuisance because I had a 15% off coupon I forgot to redeem when the appointment and payment were first made. They were super accommodating, and got that discount applied to my dive. I also had an issue with my gear, they luckily had the proper tool and made the adjustment to my regulator that I needed. We were in a group of certified divers and we went with Evan. Evan was great, the boat was spaced out and not overly crowded, they seem to really take safety seriously, captain was funny and even offered snacks and drinks which was really nice to have between dives. We made a reservation by telephone for our Open Water Certification. We were picked up on time by a very friendly driver. Our Boat was new, clean and very nice. Our Captain Joe was friendly and professional. Our dive instructor Anthony was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful and patient. When we did the out of air exercise under water, he had us do it several times until it went smoothly. He explained everything that we were going to do and demonstrated it. I'm a former PADI Pro who returned to Oahu for a short a short time and couldn't wait to get back out in the water. It had been (a very long) 1.5 years since my last dive. I went out for a 2 tank shallow reef dive with Dive Oahu and wanted to share some info about the very fun, relaxing and comfortable experience that I had. The dive equipment we used was immaculate! It was all new and very well maintained. The boat (Anger Management) had plenty of space to get set up and move around without stepping on toes (or fins). You can even lay on the bow and catch some sun on your way to and from the dive sites. Very nice dive boat! The 10am boat had a mix of programs and skill levels. We had discover scuba divers taking their first breaths underwater, students doing the open water class and a group of certified divers. We dove on Horseshoe reef and another reef named Cell Block "Sea" (aka Turtle Town). My group spotted turtles, a Devil Scorpion fish and my personal favorite; a very handsome, semi-playful Octopus! We also saw lots of other exciting marine life, some of which are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands and can't be found natively anywhere else in the world. The crew was very attentive, patient and understanding of each skill level in board. Each group had their own Dive Maser or Instructor. Having a better ratio of guides/instructors to divers and students is always a good thing! It was the kind of personal attention that is always appreciated if it's been a while since you're last dive, like it was with me. Thank you to Brian and the rest of Dive Oahu. I truly had an awesome time on the boat! And a special thank you to my guide/instructor Lindsey! This was my first time snorkeling and it was a good experience up until my older sister and I felt uncomfortable around one of the scuba diver instructors. He would stare at us constantly and "check us out". there was even a time when I was getting up on the boat and my sister saw him staring at my butt the whole time. There is a difference between looking and staring, and he was for sure staring. This definitely made the experience less enjoyable. We were going to put in a complaint but saw that the main office was closed. Other than that it was a good experience, the water felt warm and our snorkeling instructor Kyle was very patient, kind and explained everything perfectly. Would've given 5/5 if the scuba instructor, Thorner, wasn't acting the way he was towards my sister and I. read more

Calm day! (3.19.2018) We dove the sea tiger which is located in 120 ft. With 100 ft visibility. Tons of fish and I love diving wreak diving. Good equipment and friendly helpful crew. Great dive with these folks! The shallow dive was perfect for us and we saw a ton of eels, turtles and trigger fish. I wish we would have stayed down longer because we all had over 1000psi at the end of the dive but that's not unusual for dives to end early. One couple forgot their masks, so we had to go back to the dock to get some which I thought was odd that they didn't carry spare gear with them as a matter of habit. Definitely not the kind of shop for pro divers The Ugly: the guide lead my 10 year old daughter with PADI OW certificate through over 300 yard underwater swim over bare moly anything worth seeing. Mostly sandy bottoms and few fishes. By the time we surfaced, we were at least 300 yards away from the boat. My daughter was tired and we had to toll her back to the boat, and she was too tired to even go on the 2nd dive. I've been diving for over 10 years and trained both of my daughters diving, and this is the worse experience we ever had. The Conclusion: if you are a pro, skip this shop. Fantastic experience! We did the Discover Scuba Diving course on the boat "Anger Management". The boat and equipment was in very good shape and staff obviously took pride in keeping that way. No one in the family had ever gone scuba diving before. Anthony and James were our instructors - both were professional and easygoing, which greatly helped calm our fears. The ratio of instructors to guests was also reassuring, never felt out of arms reach. At different points along both dives, the instructors stopped to spend direct time with one of us needing some extra help or skills. After learning the basics and building trust with the equipment - we all had the most amazing time. We saw beautiful fish, eels, coral, blowfish and two white tip sharks! I don't ever write reviews but this experience was so horrible. The intructors/ people who worked there are just there for the money and don't care about your safety/ concerns at all. As I was going down to snorkel I was drowning, and I didn't get the hang of the tube to breathe out from and there were four instructors watching the whole time. Just arrived back in Texas and I can't stop thinking about that first dive. The Anger Management Crew and Dive Oahu front desk staff are straight up top notch. I've never met a more relaxed and efficient group of people to provide such an safe and unforgettable experience. I thought I couldn't do it, and even got a little wigged out, but Thorner gave me the encouragement and big push I truly needed to get out of my comfort zone. I just had my first scuba dive and it was so much fun!!. Everything felt safe and it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing, this is a reputable company that you will be safe with (found out about through our Lonely Planet tour guide book). Kyle and Hannah were the dive instructors on my boat and they were so nice and patient. You can tell they like what they do. This was a totally new experience for me that I wasn't sure I'd be able to do since it was so scary at first, but let yourself be scared and go ahead and push through it. It took me a few tries after panicking before i could manage to breathe underwater but they were very reassuring and helpful. I think if I can do it anyone can do it! Highly recommend! read more

This company needs a lot of improvement. They left me alone on my first dive so i had to comeback on the boat and wait. My mask was leaking on my way down so i had to go back up to switch mask. As soon as i did this and went back down, i was left alone. They've started their dive without me. This is very unprofessional from the instructor since we we're a really small group. But they did manage to forget about me. When they came back, the instructor (Christina) said that she was sorry and that she won't forget me on the second dive.  The second dive went ok. But when i called the company to get reimburse for the first dive, Brian Benton (president) said that they don't usually do that. They prefer giving me a discount on another dive day. I said i was ok with this but since then, they never got back to me. Ever!  It's a rip off! You can find a better company easily! read more

I did my open water cert through them and I've been on two charter dives with them as well. Great company. The rental gear is top notch and their boat is less than a year old. There instructors are fun and helpful and my experience has been consistently very positive. There are cheaper dive companies around, but you get what you pay for, and if you're only in town for a few days this diving company is a sure bet. Also, for the military folks who live here, they have great tent sales at the NEX periodically so keep an eye out. read more

I am a Navy veteran. I have been using the Dive Oahu Navy Exchange store for tank fills. I turned in a tank for a visual inspection due and a full a out two weeks ago. The young lady accepting the tank told me I could expect the service to take a week and that I would be called. I said that a week turnaround for a vip and a fill was too long, but I understood. Two weeks later I had heard nothing so I checked at the store. The service was done although I had not been called. I complained to the manager that the service had taken too long. I was told that I should have expected 2-4 week turnaround on that service, which is even more unreasonable than what I had originally been told. Please do not bother explaining to me why the service is so slow for a 20 minutes vip and fill. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

It wasn't until we're at the North Shore did we realize the lady at the store gave me the wrong inflater hose (it was for the ScubaPro Air2 integrated inflater, not your normal inflater hose!), so I had to dive with BCD disconnected which really sucked. I knew I shouldn't have trusted her when she appeared to have no knowledge about diving gears. It seems they don't have much training for their staff as it took her a long time to type our info in their systems. Took us almost 1hr to get rental gears. If you're not a super experienced diver, don't rent gear from them as you don't want to risk your life read more

What an amazing experience! We did two different tours with them. First we took a snorkeling tour. The crew was incredibly knowledgeable on the area and sea life! Carter was amazing showing us where to look and little lessons on the sea life. She has a great personality and was a lot of fun. She knew exactly where to go to see amazing sea life and we swam with a sea turtle!! The second was on our last night on the island we took a firework cruise. There couldn't have been a better way to end our trip! We had a blast with Captain Jerry (I think that was his name) and Carter! It was so windy but the captain knew how to keep the boat as calm as possible! He is from the islands and told so much interesting history before the ride. Did not see a lot of fish or sea turtles as a snorkeler but you really do have such a fun time swimming in the open ocean. They give you wetsuits, snorkel, and a floatie but the captain of Anger Management lets you swim with no gear if you like. read more

I went into the shop to book a dive with my friends. I specifically asked to be booked on the same charter with them. The lady at the shop forgot to put in the notes about being a group with them and book me for a different date. When I got the email confirmation, I let them know it was wrong date. Fast forward to the day of the dive when I show up to the dock... You guessed it, I'm not booked with my friends. The guy at the dock said it isn't his problem. After complaining, they shifted things around but treated me like I was an inconvenience. We got to the dive site and got our briefing. However, they briefed us for a different site than what we actually dove. I had zero interaction with my guide. He never checked on me, asked if my dive was OK, or gave a damn about me. I asked the other crew why they switched sites and they said oops. I felt like I was a bother to be there with them. I will not dive or recommendation this company to anyone. read more

My family and I had a really great experience on a night dive with Dive Oahu. My family members were picked up from their hotel promptly by Jeremy, our dive master. I drove in on my own, but throughout the day, the staff at Dive Oahu checked in with me 3x to make sure I knew where I was meeting them. At Kewalo Basin Harbor, the boat was easy to find and parking was plentiful ($1 per hr). We went out on the Anger Management with captain Joe. There were just 4 of us diving with Jeremy and he took great care of each of us, checking back with us frequently to make sure we were doing okay, and pointing out sea life to us. We even saw a sleeping sea turtle tucked away under a reef. The little snacks and drinks they provided between dives were a nice touch. Jeremy and Joe were very professional, making sure all of our equipment was put together well, assisting us with our fins and gear as necessary. Awesome experience for our family with 2 teenage daughters. Expensive but worth every dollar. Matty, Morgan, and Morghan are amazing, patient, instructors with positive vibes that settled our nerves, inspired confidence, and sparked interest in picking up a new hobby. The reef is breathtaking, surreal. We saw 3 enormous sea turtles, tons of tropical fish, eels, sea urchins, and vividly clear, blue ocean. No sharks (fortunately and unfortunately...) I saw a couple old sunken boats, turtles (7-8), little sharks, moray eels, an octopus, some other little guys the instructor pointed out (I dunno what they were but they were pretty cool looking.) Nice, clean boat. Nice new gear. Felt safe the whole time. Instructors were chill and friendly. They cancelled our trip because the currents would keep pushing us away from where we would see the attractions. I respect the fact that they cancelled our trip even though they had an opportunity to take us out. They knew it wouldn't be fun so they didn't waste our time or money. An honest business. As a first time diver I didn't know what to expect, I had absolutely no idea what goes into diving, so before I got there I was hoping the instructors were patient with me and of course knowledgeable. They exceeded my expectations, Kent went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe so I could enjoy the dive. Not only that that followed up with me days after the trip, something that's rare with customer service. As of the dive itself, it was nice to do plenty of diving with little transit, boat was clean and gear looked taken care of and the crew was great.
