So we just left this place (@7:13pm, well after hours) and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL! We are preparing to go out of town tomorrow and we were unfortunately running behind, and forgot that we needed to get new snorkel gear. We reached out to one of the owners, Dawn, and asked if it was alright if we still came as we wouldn't arrive until just after closing due to traffic. Dawn offered to wait for us to arrive and provided exceptional service thereafter. Her Husband and Co-owner, Bert, took very good care of us. He made sure to give us an array of options and even explained the differences, similarities and unique features of each one. I eventually got it down to 2 different options and just couldn't decide. They were both very supportive and continued to point out the differences for me and coach me through making the right decision for me. Dawn was really patient and assured me that I couldn't make a bad decision as both of the masks I selected were a great option and a great fit. After much deliberation and an hour and change flew by we walked out with two new snorkel sets and huge smiles on our faces. Thank you so much Bert and Dawn! We get to do our favorite activity on our trip because of your kindness and compassion. I unfortunately had a terrible experience with Divers@Sea. I found them in April 2022 as I started the process of SCUBA certification for an upcoming dive trip to Belize in July 2022. Initially Bert was very helpful in explaining the process and getting me started, assuring me they would do everything possible to get me certified in time for my trip. In June, I visited the shop again prior to my Confined Water training weekend to complete necessary forms and knowledge review. I brought with me gear (BCD, regulator, mask/fins/snorkel) that my grandfather (a master diver who lives in SC) graciously purchased for me as a surprise birthday gift. Once Dawn realized I already had my own gear and she would not be getting a sale from me, the encounter went downhill immediately and was quite frankly the worst customer service experience I've ever had - she had a disgusted look on her face, was rude and refused to engage altogether from that point on. I was then told I would not be able to use my own BCD/reg for the training and would have to rent theirs, which after working with a new dive shop I now know is completely ridiculous and unreasonable. Nevertheless, I completed the confined water training with them as scheduled the following weekend and had a spot already reserved for their Open water training trip to Dive Land Park a few weekends later. After no follow up regarding the Dive Land trip I reached back out and was given the runaround before ultimately being told there would in fact be no trip that weekend or any weekend prior to my Belize trip due to lack of interest from current students. I requested PADI referral forms and wanted no further business with this shop. I was lucky to find Peachtree Dive Center (see my 5 star review on their page) who were amazing and accommodating in every way. They got me in last minute for their Open Water trip to Dive Land Park the original weekend I was planning to go with Divers@Sea. To my surprise, when I got to Dive Land I was shocked to find Bert there with a group of Divers@Sea students after being told they wouldn't be making a trip that weekend. It is clear from my own experience (and others' after reading past reviews) that Bert & Dawn's top priority is making money from equipment sales and they have little to no investment in training aspiring SCUBA divers. If you are looking for anything in a dive shop other than a place to buy gear, I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere. read more

This review is also posted on Google. I would like to preface this with it is a shame that this has to be a negative review when I see so many others have had such positive experiences. My visit at Divers @ Sea on 7/2/2013 started out with a telephone call to a lady named Dawn. She was helpful on the phone and seemed nice enough. I had tried several other dive stores around Atlanta but most are 18+ miles from my home. I wanted to try out Divers @ Sea as I work very close by and they are also a PADI dive shop, which is whom I have my certifications thru. When I got to the store, it was nice enough, sparse but clean. Parking is around the back and there was plenty of it Dawn was on the phone which is totally fine. However once she began helping me, I explained what I had, showed her my set up and and what I was needing from please check these regulators out to I need a new hose to fit my new low pressure BCD inflator. One of the first things out of Dawns mouth was...."you know those regulators are notorious for malfunctioning I'll likely need to send it back to the manufacturer to get it serviced" (Sherwood SR1 regulator). Wow...thanks for making me feel like the gear I bought is junk. Yes I'm aware of the "malfunctions" which happen primarily in cold water less than 65 degrees F. I'm bringing my stuff to YOU to make sure it's working within its specs. She asked me about it's history and if I knew anything about it. I told her I had bought this stuff off of E-bay and from an online dive store and that I'm heading to the Bahamas on a trip in August. She acknowledges it all the while with this "look" on her face of disapproval. I then tell her I don't need them to check the secondary air source on my BCD and I've ordered a replacement Oceanic Reliant Low Pressure inflator (already had it on order it just screws in). So she asks me what do you want me to do with this BCD then. I said check it out to see that the bladders inflate and everything else is ok with it. (I am NOT a scuba repair person, shouldn't she know what to look at....holes....tears......etc). She says, "well we can just go get a tank and see". She gets tank I put on the 1st stage and opens the tank, there's an air leak which she immediately blames on the regulator but it was actually the connection to the computer hose to the high pressure outlet. I tell her it's actually here I could feel the air. She asks....did you put this hose on.....I say yes I did. She said, "you are totally screwing up". Frankly by that time I'd had it with her attitude. She wasn't getting my business. I made up an excuse to go somewhere else that does service Sherwood regulators since she'd have to send it off. She recommended Divers Supply (which is a great store btw), I ended up however taking it too SeaVentures (I'm taking the trip with them) which was VERY accommodating all the things I told them they had NO problems with and certainly didn't make me feel stupid ( Having three college degrees I'm hardly stupid). I initially thought Dawn was just another employee....I could forgive that and would possibly go back after talking with a manager or owner, but Dawn is an owner at this store. This is not how you treat a potential customer by making them feel dumb when they come to you with their equipment requesting you look at it. You are the PROFESSIONAL but my encounter with Dawn was anything but professional. She was rude, arrogant and highly condescending. Not only did she loose my equipment repair business that I did later on that day at SeaVentures she also lost my retail business when I ended up spending almost $800 on a Sola 1200 Dive light and other accessories for my upcoming dive trip at SeaVentures. I will not be going back to this store for any of my scuba needs from equipment to certifications after my encounters with Dawn. I can not recommend that anyone else does either without serious changes in the way customers are treated. read more

Both my teenagers were SCUBA certified through Divers@Sea, a small business in Buckhead owned by Bert and Dawn Quist. Our most recent experience was in February 2017, and it was exactly the kind of experience you want to have when it comes to getting certified. After doing the PADI online course, my daughter took a final test at Divers@Sea. Then it was time for a weekend in the pool to learn skills. After the weekend, the Quists let me know that she could use more pool time. So she joined another pool class and spent an additional weekend working on skills. I'm so glad she did, because it made a huge difference in her comfort level. I only wish everyone was as safety-conscious as the Quists! I've been on dives where it seems some of the certified divers barely knew a thing about diving -- or their equipment. After my daughter's pool sessions, Divers@Sea gave us a referral form, which we used to complete her certification in Cozumel over spring break. I was amazed at how confident and comfortable my daughter seemed on her first dives, and in dealing with her equipment. As for prices and selection, Divers@Sea has a pretty darn good selection at prices that are comparable to what you'll find online, even though this is a small shop far removed from any dive sites. No need to go home and do your internet research; just buy local! read more

I highly recommend Divers At Sea to anyone from the Atlanta area who could use friendly advice on what gear to purchase. I just had a sickening experience at this place trying to get signed up for my divers certification. The salesman told me that I wasn't as valuable to him as a customer because I already owned my own diving gear and that's where they really make their money...not on the class. Unbelievably terrible experience. My wife was so disrespected and overtly berated for having bought her basic gear elsewhere prior to class. I have been in hotel management for 10 years now, so customer service is essential in my everyday life. I chosen this place due to the great reviews , but I also noticed a prior review mentioning that the employees were rude, which I ignored because one bad review does not outweigh the good. I would have to agree with that one bad review this time around. I waited for someone to help me. When the employee did, I kindly asked if I may try on the masks to see which one will fit because they were packaged so neatly and I wanted to make sure it was okay to open it. She immediately said to me before answering, "Wait, are you coming here to try it on so that you can go home and buy it online?" I am unsure what made her think I would do that. I have thought about getting scuba certified since I was about 16, and last weekend, over 20 years later, I did it! For me, the leap to getting PADI Open Water certified was mental. Bert and Dawn were patient and very helpful with their suggestions. It's obvious that they have worked with divers of all abilities and backgrounds, and they are very attentive. I did a refresher course with Divers At Sea to prepare for a dive after a long hiatus from scuba. The online classes were convenient and all I needed to refresh my memory. I then did a two hour pool session with Dawn who was extremely helpful and personable. She took extra time to make sure I was properly weighted, which I had never really taken the time to do in the past (I always overweighted myself). I first went to Divers @ Sea to get my open water dive certification a few months back. Once you walk in, you are immediately greeted by a husband and wife team, Bert and Don. Their selection of diving gear includes a great selection of dive knives and watches at reasonable prices. As far as certification goes, Bert couldn't have been more helpful. I use dive gear for work and trust Divers @ Sea with everything I need. Independent dive shops are not unlike other stores, they have to struggle against the online marketplace and the pricing that goes with it. Don't buy a lawnmower from a place that doesn't employ a mechanic. Don't buy a piece of stereo equipment from a chain store without an expert and don't buy low cost gear online and expect local merchants to be excited about working on it. All businesses depend on profit. SCUBA shops have a few ways to generate it. Sales and service of their gear is, I suspect, a significant part of the equation. These folks are solid, friendly and expert. Go with confidence and save your second hand and online bargain hunting for buying things that your life doesn't depend on. read more
