I've have a couple of tattoo's and was ready for another. While the guy that did my last one did a good job, I never felt fully comfortable with him. I had a design idea in my head and after talking it out with the artist for about five minutes he said "okay, let's go do this". I guess he was going to freestyle it but i pressed pause and he drew it out, etc., etc. and everything was fine. My experience with Divine Arts Tattoo Company was the exact opposite of my experience with the other company. I chose Divine Arts mainly because of the reviews. Their is no shortage of tattoo shops in the Charlotte area but unless you know someone then its hard to know where to go or who to trust. And even if you know someone there is no guarantee that the artist will be in the same local shop or hasn't moved to another city. Regardless, the reviews were spot on and helpful. After I landed on Divine Arts as a finalist I submitted an online application with intimate details of my design, placement, etc. I never heard back after a couple of days so I decided to stop by since I was in the area. The lady at the front desk was really nice and helpful. She introduced me to Thomas who was in the middle of a tattoo. We had a short chat about what, where, when, etc. and I made an appointment for a design session. Thomas is booked weeks, if not more than a month out, so turnaround time is not the fastest. During the design session Thomas took his time and we discussed alot of options and variations to my ideas. In some areas he wasn't able to offer much help from a content perspective because he wasn't familiar with the subject however, he continued to insert his advice on how the design would look given the content I was exploring. His advice helped craft a result I was really happy with. Next we booked the tattoo session, paid my deposit and got ready for some ink. The tattoo session was as good as it gets. Even though I have tattoo's Thomas was very thorough and communicative. The place was really clean and I had zero sanitation concerns. During my sessions I got to hear the staff interact with a wide variety of customers and they did an amazing job. There were even several kids coming in to get their ears pierced and the staff was super cool with them. The only two areas that were a sore spot for me was the online application and punctuality. The online application seemed to be lost or just not followed up with. I noticed other reviewers mentioning a similar experience to mine. Secondly, punctuality does not seem to be existent especially, if you are the first appointment of the day. I was kept waiting for a while and I heard many, many others with the same complaint. Pains me to say this but, I would NEVER recommend this place for anyone to get a tattoo done. After coming here and getting a few small patchwork tattoos on my arm by Jamie, I decided I loved the work and professionalism of the store enough to book an all day back tattoo (wrong) I called & booked an all day back tattoo (12-8 apt time). My apt that I had booked and put a down payment on, had been booked for OVER A MONTH. So imagine my surprise when I show up to be told that the ENTIRE DAY was double booked with other clients.... And imagine my surprise more when I was told "we have a new part time front desk who messes up the scheduling sometimes" .... Although they "couldnt find" my all day apt, they could find the days that I gave them money for the apt. Although I got my non refundable deposit back, I'm not satisfied. I had a plan for over a month that I would be getting an 8 hour back tattoo done that I took the WHOLE DAY OFF OF WORK FOR and instead I just got my money back and a "better luck at a tattoo shop down the road". read more

I made an appointment for 2 pm today for a second ear piercing. When I arrived, on time, I was told there was a walk-in ahead of me, still sitting in the waiting room. She would go ahead of me. I asked how long and was told 45 minutes. I said that i wouldn't wait . I asked if I was better off making another appointment or just walking in. At this point Ren came out and told me I could not wear earrings for three months in my current piercings, before she could pierce my ears again. I left. I was apprehensive trying to find a good tattoo parlor in Charlotte. My first one was done or of state. After reading countless reviews and looking at artists on Instagram, I narrowed it down to Divine Arts. I lucked out big time because Divine Arts Tattoo is a GREAT tattoo parlor! The shop was very clean, and you can see how each artist's booth was well kept. The front desk staff listened to what I was looking for and suggested Thomas. This was the right fit because of what I wanted done. He was professional and helped me think through placement and the size of the design. When I scheduled, the process was well explained and seamless. On the day of my tattoo, Thomas made sure I was well informed and comfortable. The vibe of the shop itself was super chill. You could tell the other artists were interested in each others work and chatty with each other. I wasn't nervous at all because Thomas is very experienced and it came out perfect! I went here 2 weeks ago on New Years day to get a nose piercing.... Basically because they were the only shop open. Bad idea. The piercer was friendly but VERY inexperienced. He literally pierced the same nostril area 3 times because he couldn't figure out how to get the ring in...claiming it was too short. ( This is a nose screw Earring btw...A titanium one that i Had purchased myself because i have sensitive skin). There was sooooo much blood. Super traumatic. Then at the last minute, He decided to put a different Ring in that they had laying in a drawer at the shop (Did not clean it... And significantly shorter than the noise screw i bought With me.... A nose bone earring)....claiming it was surgical steel & wouldn't cause irritation. The placement was also off, way too left on the nostril, making my nose look bigger... Literally a disaster. Wish experience ever.... And did i mention the blood? I cried for an hour after that, just from the pain, soreness and keloid Scar that i knew was sure to come after that traumatic experience. To make matters worse, they still charged me full price... More because they used their own dirty earring. zFAST FORWARD 2 WEEKS LATER: and I've experienced pain, pus, discomfort, peeling off my skin around the piercing area only, anddddd lastly, today a dark ring around the piercing because the piercer Lied about the type of metal the earring was made of. They all helped her calm down and get her mind off of it. They asked her favorite song and played it for her. They even gave her their phone with a funny video playing. That finally did it for her. If I could give a place zero stars, I would. I went to this place for a piercing (or rather 3) after it was recommended by a different tattoo place when their piercer was out sick. I got a triple anti-helix piercing. There was no jewelry to choose from so I was just given what the piercer chose. He could barely get in two of the earrings in after contorted my ear in an insanely painful position to get it in. Fast forward to a few days later when I realized that TWO out of my 3 earrings had fallen out. I called the shop twice to find out if I could come back and have them put the earrings back in. I left a message twice and no one called me back. Now it is a couple of months later and my third and final earring has fallen out. I called again, still no call back. I wasted $80 for a lot of pain and NOTHING to show for it. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I was very happy and although I haven't been back yet, I am planning a new piercing and will probably choose this shop! I went into the shop today because I had an appointment for a consultation with Thomas. I got there about 20 minutes early since it was going to be my first tattoo and I was really excited. Girl at the front desk was really nice, told me that she would take me back there to see him in a couple minutes. Which I would have been fine waiting the 20 minutes if needed. She has me follow her to the back where Thomas is set up and he is in the middle of tattooing someone else...he asks me what I want, where I want it, and what kind of shading I wanted which are all of the things I already wrote in my application for an appointment. So why they had me even bother writing that just for the artists to not even look at it is beyond me. So clearly I don't feel like he's really listening to me because he is in the middle of tattooing someone else and only stopped to look at me maybe twice while I stood there. He then told me to make an appointment email him some reference photos (which I already had sent in with my application) and he would draw something up. The girl at the desk scheduled an appointment to hold for me which I ended up calling back and telling her to release it. I was so excited for my first tattoo and to get to know the artist I wanted to tattoo me but clearly he did not care about my time as it was a 20 minute drive to the shop for a two minute conversation I could've had over the phone. Really disappointing because I really liked his work but I'm not going to waste my time or money on someone who clearly doesn't care about my tattoo or the appointment I scheduled for a consultation with him. read more

Jordan did my first ever tattoo for me today! I had the pleasure of meeting him before my appointment next door at Baked Well, a bakery owned by his wife!
