He listens carefully to what I want and works with my hair and face shape to give me a flattering haircut and color every time. He has done my hair blonde, purple, blue, and burgundy and does both semi-permanent crazy colors and permanent more natural ones. He has done color correction when the blue wouldn't come out well, you'd never have guessed my hair had been greenish underneath from the gorgeous results I got. I love the products he uses for color work because they have extremely low odor/fragrance. I'm super sensitive to fragrance in products so this is a big deal to me, I get huge headaches from the smell of hair dye. I never get reactions or headaches from getting my hair done here. I used to just accept the post-hair appointment migraine from Aveda. Not anymore! Another thing I really like about going here to get my hair done is that it is an extremely chill place. Like extreeeemely. I have even dozed off getting highlights done. I never feel pressured to make a bunch of small talk, that usually makes me nervous because I'm just not very good at it. Socially awkward penguin here! I can't stand when a stylist gives you that hard up sell for the products-- Aveda is notorious for this. I always feel so uncomfortable saying no. Paul never tries to sell stuff to me that I don't want. If you want products, of course you can get them, ask for them, but he's not going to try and push them on you. I really like that. Also, this may not be a big deal to anybody else but I really like that the music he plays never drives me crazy! When you're sitting there for an hour or two it makes a big difference!

Stephanie, the owner, has been my barber for going on 5 years now. In those 5 years she moved locations about twice until she opened up this salon, The Blushing Dahlia. Every time, I have followed her for several reasons, here are just a few... 1) Great service - She has a spunky personality and always greets with a smile and friendly hello. She really tries to make sure you feel at home and you're not just 'getting a haircut.' The salon itself is a little small, but thats was makes it so nice. Its feels more like a home! It's clean, the couches are comfortable, and there are TVs available for your viewing pleasure (Netflix, Hulu, etc). She really goes above and beyond to make sure its enjoyable. Even if you show up a little early, she will make sure to acknowledge you, so you don't ever feel that 'do they know I'm here?" awkwardness we have all probably experienced. 2) Knowledge - She has been cutting hair for quite some time now and is very knowledgable in her field. She knows what hair styles compliment your face geometry and overall style. I'm not kidding when I say I asked her what hair cut would look best on me the first time I went to her - she quickly had a solution for me. Since then, I've been getting variations of the same cut. Curious about which products to use on your hair type? Ask! She uses and sells only the best quality hair products/tools that she knows work well, work safely, and that she trusts. Even if you don't care for anything fancy or expensive, she'll recommend something in your budget. She doesn't ever aggresively push products on you like some other places do... 3) Flexibility - I'm a fairly busy person and she has been incredibly flexible in making sure she can squeeze in my haircut every two weeks. If I have to miss one and reschedule she is understanding, but always transparent if she can't fit me in during my desired time. She takes her time to ask you when you are free and doesn't mind taking an extra minute or two to make sure you get an appointment that works for you, several if need be. Her appointment system also notifies you two days before if you have a haircut so you can confirm/reschedule your appointment if necessary. Overall, I've been very satisfied with Stephanie's haircuts. I know she has many other long time, satisfied customers and it's not surprising why. I can't speak on behalf of her other services (hair color, etc), but I'm sure they are just as top notch as her men's haircuts.

I'd like to start by saying I had no intentions of writing this review until it dawned on me that…read moreunless I speak up no one will know about what occurred. Ok, so I came to Shelia purely out of good standing I heard through someone (First mistake) but, I inquired on a Loc service (Retwist). showed her a picture of the state of my hair she quoted me 150 did mention it could possibly be more but, she would need to see me in person. The day of my appointment I arrive to the shop (Early Of course). Shop is clean not much going on in it but, overall seemed like a nice salon ( I'd ask to see her previous work beforehand ) Ok so I'm there and she mentions needing two finish two heads which is no problem because again I'm early so I just ask if I should come back? she say's no need. about 40 mins later she's done, Calls me over to the chair looks at my hair gives me the final quote of $225 in total (she was including a wash) I say alright no problem. she proceeds to say that she needs to run a couple of quick errands and will be back in no time. Mind you a stylist she just hired on (Their first day) was in the shop as well with a client. ok so she leaves, I just watch tv to pass idle time but, then I realize it's been at least 45 minutes she's been gone? so again I'm questioning why she didn't give me a later arrival time? she gets back (smells of cigarettes) and goes straight to the chair and is looking at my hair making comments like she isn't sure what to do etc (HUGE RED FLAG, I should have taken the hint) Anyway's she say's she brings out a crochet hook and starts parting my hair (Cut's it because she states that it wasn't manageable, SHE DID NOT USE ANY LOC GEL OR PRODUCT AT ALL THE ENTIRE TIME WHICH IS UNUSUAL, I'm confused still because I usually start off with a Wash and then the loc artist begins their work) but, I'm giving her the benefit ok fast forward my ride shows up and states they haven't seen anyone do locs the way she was (The method) fast forward an hour later she's done and say's "I know your ends aren't done but we can do that in another session in a month, also the 25 was for a wash so just $200 is good"In the moment I felt fine I mean I just sat in a chair for 5 hours and im tired right? well, the next day I wasn't happy AT ALL! I sent her a message letting her know how I felt and asked if I could do a partial refund and also showed her prior work i've had done for less than $200. she replied back practically cussing me out and telling me she wouldn't refund me and states that If I wanted to I could come in for her to "fix it" that right there was an Indicator she knew she played in my head but, didn't care. I'm still pretty upset by the entire encounter and wouldn't recommend anyone with locs to EVER let her do them, the stylist she had in the shop also does locs and I wish I had let her do my hair because her work was lovely. I believe her names Mckayla? ( I wish I could have given 0 stars honestly and she kept taking breaks in between doing my hair and chatting/gossiping etc which is truly unprofessional)

Used to spend 40- 60 Dollars and was only ever not complaining but not satisfied. Now for around 10 dollars I get the best haircuts ever. Been coming here for over 12 years. Do I tip always because it is such a great bargain. After getting a cut I can manage my hair for 4 weeks with no problem. People are extremely nice there and am very proud when I leave. I have curly/ wavy hair and has always been difficult finding someone who can deal with it .
