DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would. I've given them numerous chances & tried out different people in hopes of finding my perfect pedicurist & I end up leaving disappointed every single time. This place is WAY TOO OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY OF WORK THEY PROVIDE & they have attitudes when you ask them to fix something because it's not up to my standard. Sorry not sorry, but if I'm paying $80 for a PEDICURE, I would expect that pedicure to be immaculate, in which it never is. I'll never be spending my money here again & I'd advise anyone who is scoping this place out & wanting to give them a try to just take your business elsewhere. DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. As a licensed nail artist/technician myself I am very particular on how I like things done. I provided a photo for reference of a simple deep smile line French tip that I wanted & they couldn't even do that. The woman who was doing my pedicure couldn't do it, so she got fed up when I said I didn't like it & tried to give her a tip on how to make things easier & she stood up & looked for someone else to do it. The next lady was more fluent in English so I had high hopes, but to my surprise she still left me disappointed. I just feel the staff is lazy & they have no desire to become better artists, their only focus is to take your money. Not to mention how they NEVER use clean tools, all their tools are dirty & unsanitary. I see them pull the same cuticle nippers out their box that they just used on the person before & they are using the same sanding bands on multiple people, which those are supposed to be brand new for every client. I think State Board needs to pay them a visit so they can rethink their cleanliness & not risk spreading fungus/infections. With that being said, I felt this review was necessary to bring awareness about the quality service that's NOT being provided & the sad reality of the careless employees who work there just to take your money & not prioritize the clients satisfaction. I know what QUALITY looks like, but this surely isn't it. If you wanna do $30 work, you should charge accordingly because we're not getting what we pay for here. read more

Relatively new to Riverside (lived in LA, DC, and NY) and I've tried several nail salons since moving here a few years ago. Finally found Zen Nail Bar, and it's the only place I go because of the consistency in good service and nail design. They are very accommodating, and while I never take them up on the free beverage, it's just nice to know they have this added attention to detail. I won't recommend any other salon. I used to go here all the time but the last three visits the nail tech was rushed and my nails were so bad they didn't dry and peeled up within a day. Same for my pedicure. I went back and they re-did the nails that peeled, admitted that the nails weren't fully cured. But here we are a few days later and they're peeling again. This has happened a few times. I wouldn't recommend this spot until they solve this issue. They don't know how to lay hard gel. Update for their reply: it wasn't just my thumb. At first it was my index finger and a few of my toes. This is a skill issue, not a product issue. I have been to other salons in the area and this is the only salon that this has happened. We went in for pedicures without an appointment. They had a pretty packed house but we only waited about 5 minutes, if that, to get seated for our service. My husband stopped getting pedis for a while because other places would always use the scrub on his legs and he didn't like how it would pull his leg hair (fair enough, haha). He decided to join me once we got there and the lady was very sweet with him. We were pleasantly surprised that she didn't pull out the scrub on him. The gentleman who did mine was also very nice and they didn't skimp on the leg and foot massage. It was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep during mine! The place is clean, the decor is modern and tastefully done, and the staff is all very friendly. They offer a drink during your service which is something I always appreciate but can't always find at other local nail salons. Great place all around! read more

first time customer experience..I made an appointment for 2 gel x full sets at 10 AM my daughter and I didn't get service until almost 10:30am they had us sitting at very dirty desks with pieces of trash on them. When Jessica started doing the black star design, I was kind of concerned on how they were turning out, but I wanted to wait and give her the benefit of the doubt for maybe a second coat would clean up the stars that she was doing.. when she finished with one coat she said that she was gonna add the jewels topcoat and that we'd be done, I was shocked because the stars were so poorly done and I told her that I really didn't like them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She got upset with me asking why didn't I tell her before she finished.. in my head, I wanted to tell her I didn't think that they would be done so poorly but I just nicely told her I just don't like the way they look on my nails. Really disappointed in today's visit, this review is specifically for the front desk lady not handling the issue appropriately, and the nail technician Hana (Hannah) giving different pricing then refusing to do my nails. Read more for details... Called in ahead of time for nail soak-off and new builder gel set. Upon arrival got sat right away with Hana who cut down my nails and started the soak-off. We chat for a bit and before she's done with soak off, she writes down the pricing and asks me to confirm the total of $90. Seems high to me so I say so and ask for breakdown... we continue on, and a few minutes later once she's done with soak-off the front desk lady comes and tell me Hana can no longer due my nails and wants to re-assign me to Helen (whom I previously said I didn't want). And then tells me nobody else is available. I refuse because hello - you just took off my nails and I have an engagement later. After a couple of minutes, she re-assigns another tech but after sitting down with me she says she's not experienced with gel builder on a tip. Again, the front desk lady tells me she doesn't have anybody available but Helen and proceeds to tell me it's my problem since I don't want Helen to do my nails and she doesn't have anyone else. I let her know I wish she should have mentioned this before removing my nails as I could have easily gotten a fill or gone elsewhere... Frustrated, she assigns Mimi to me, who proceeds to do my nails and does an acceptable job. Once done, I go up front to pay and was quoted $75 (which is in line with what I usually pay). When I ask about the pricing discrepancy and wanting to clear up the issue with the 1st technician, she was hesitant and simply didn't want to address the issue. Left dumbfounded, I explained that I just didn't want to end up in a similar issue next time and wanted confidence that i wouldn't get the weird pricing or runaround leaving me without services. She obviously doesn't like dealing with conflict and just shut down... I don't like conflict myself but I truly wanted to understand what exactly was the issue. Anyways, paid for Mimi's service plus a good tip, and left feeling Pretty frustrating after the experience, after having had a good experience and being a loyal longtime client. I'm really hoping the gentleman usually in the front comes back the next time... otherwise, it might be time for a new salon. Will post a follow-up review after my next visit. read more

A customer had walked in after me for a walk in,and got seated before me. (I was trying my patience) I got seated shortly after. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Went in for a gel pedicure. As the nail tech was taking off my gel polish with the drill, she drilled ny nail beds for so long even after the polish was gone that my toe nails were paper thin. They were literally pink. Once I realized what she had done, I was in shock and asked her to stop but at that point the damage was done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She then proceeded to tell me that it's "just how my nail is" and that they were only so thin because they had been in the water... lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had to use a builder gel on my nails because I just knew they weren't going to last even a few days being that thin and would surely start chipping. Wanted to try a new nail salon in the area because I'm moving down the street soon. Came here 2 days ago and got a gel X set with little hearts and couple of gems. They struggled to do a simple design and had to have 2 different girls work on my nails. Didn't completely get what I wanted but it was decent enough and already took way too much of my time so I paid and left. The gems started falling off the same day and left holes in the polish that lotion and make up was getting stuck in and it looked horrible . I went in 2 days after I originally got my nails done to explain to them the situation and since they struggled with my original design I wanted to make it simple and just get a plain color swap instead. They charged me $40. Absolutely ridiculous, I could understand maybe $20 since I did change the color, but I didn't even make them redo the gems or design. The fact that they weren't wiling to be more accommodating at the fact that they couldn't give me what I wanted originally and I had to take time out of a whole other day to go get them fixed since it was less than 24 hours that the gems started coming off is insane. read more

I made an appointment beforehand and I am glad that I did! This place was busy when I arrived! I was greeted by a gentleman when I walked in and he confirmed my appointment and what I needed to get done. I wanted a pedicure and dip on my hands. They had good music playing in the background and two TV's playing a show on the walls. A lot of people were getting pedicures. It was quiet which I was like that's different but it was relaxing at the same time. The lady who did my pedicure was nice and thorough. The lady who did my hands asked me if I wanted to do gel instead because it would be better for my nails and I won't have to soak them so much in acetone which was kind of her so I went with her suggestion. As a response to the manager, I never asked for a deep French tip and the prices were never explained to me upon the nail tech doing my nails. It seems like she charged me what she wanted to get the most money. I was told $45 and no more than $15 MAX for a French tip. And then I was charged $70. Fraud business. And at no point to the nail tech apologize for making me bleed,twice. They charge for everything extra up and never take anything off when it comes to us. read more
