My daughter and I went for manis, she got a basic and I got the gel. The manicurist I got was curt and although she did a good job on the nails the thing skeeved me out about the place was that I looked over the girl's hands half way through and she had sores and lumps all over her hands and arms, for a second I dismiss it, then I look at the next technician and she also has open sores. I was literally horrified, I don't' want to catch some sort of disease. They both should have been wearing gloves in that condition. The price was higher than others, the place was like nail factory, it was very full and the sesson felt rushed. It was not relaxing. I will never go back. read more

Over all, I have always been pleased with my experience at this salon. I love the new layout and location. It's wonderful. Most of the staff is friendly, the owner is such a sweetheart. I believe they prefer you make an appointment, but I've visited them as a walk in as well and they are always very accommodating. The only downsides - they are a little pricey and they don't do eyebrow threading (although their website says they do). The last time I had my eyebrows waxed here my forehead broke out horribly for days so I won't do it again. I have to go to another salon to have them threaded. read more

Very bad customer service, I went a few days ago and had to go to another nail salon a day or so after because they did my nails to terribly!! They were uneven, too fat and not even the slightest bit symmetrical to my other nails. The lady I had was very rude, she didn't listen to what I was asking of her. I had been coming for about 6 months with my mom. Usually the ladies in there are very nice. But yesterday when I went in to get a new gel set they sent me to a lady in there that I hadn't been to she was nice but when I asked her to do almond shape she said she could only do round and square I was very disappointed but I needed my nails done so went ahead and got them done square. After I left me and my mom were looking at my nails and realized that not only had they been cut super short but they were super thick and bumpy. So me and my mom called them asked if there was anything they could to fix them and they said I could come back in and have them fixed. I got a ride back there and went in alone and there wasn't very many other costumers in there. And as the lady is fixing them the girl that did them originally came over and was blaming me for them being like that and the other ladies just kept giving me dirty looks. I normally come here every two weeks, without a problem to get a gel manicure. After getting my usual gel manicure yesterday at about 3pm, one nail chipped by 8:30pm, but they had already closed for the day. Upon arriving the next morning to get the one gel nail fixed, I was told I had to pay $3 to get the one nail fixed that I had done less than 24 hours ago. I have gone back to get a nail fixed here before and never had to pay. When asked why, I was told it was because I came in the morning and if I had come in the afternoon it would've been free. So disappointed in the service. I went in for pedicure and decided to get an SNS manicure to protect my natural nails so they will grow. The pedicure was nice no complaints there. However, when it comes to the manicure, it took forever, then the manager came and was unhappy with some of the work so decided to fixed some of it. Then ended up with think and cloudy looking nails. She asked me to come back another so they could fix them and I was impressed. Fast forward a few days later, I call and make an appointment so the manager could fix the nails. I get there and she isn't there, the original manicurist gets to work on my nails and starts using the electric filling tool (the one thing i told them i didn't want used on me) and just goes to town, she bruised two of my nail beds and just kept filing and adding more powder and filing some more. I eventually asked if it was her first time using the system and i suppose this made her uncomfortable because I was pushed off to another manicurist to fix what he could. He did a great job with what he had. I ended up with stubby nails and wavy nails. Biggest disappointment is that the manager didn't bother to show up for my appointment with her, she showed up to work a while later but then stayed in the back and didn't apologize or anything. read more

I recently went because my regular nail shop was super busy . I'm a white customer and I noticed they are rude and like to do quick and unsatisfactory work on people of color. My friend and I went to get mani and pedis and my lady did an okay job but my friend( who is black) had a terrible job done. Her cuticles were a mess. And they polished her nails so quick and even made a dent in the wet paint and tried to cover it up instead of doing it over. When it came time for check out, she added money to my friend's total. It was supposed to be $42 and she charged $50 and when i asked she said it the mani/pedi. But I had got the same service and was charged $42. Needless to say she didn't get a tip since she wanted to overcharge my friend. I will NEVER come back here to these racists. I drive from Chantilly just to come to this salon. I will not let anyone else do my nails or my toes. In regards to the comment on the water... Hello.. There are only two options... If it's not left, it's right. Don't blame them on your laziness. If the other reviewer is so unhappy, why the return visits???? This salon is absolutely beautiful. I would like to give this salon a positive review, the atmosphere was friendly and it looks spectacular. But, I went there Wednesday night for the first time to get a silk wrap fill. The technician insisted that putting gel over the silk wrap was the way to go, it dried quicker and lasted longer. Her first assertion was, indeed, correct. I really want to like this salon. It is big, plenty of employees and very nicely decorated. The problem is they charge too much for mediocre services and they aren't very friendly. I've only visited this place twice for pedicures but had the same disappointing experience for both. I get the $35 basic pedicure which should be relaxing and enjoyable even without the extra add-ons, but I've yet to relax because my service lasted 30 minutes max. My feet soaked for 2 minutes before the technician began, the massage is about 3 minutes total for both legs and the warm towels were literally still fully warm when they removed them to paint. I feel completely rushed as if they're silently begging for me to leave. The other part that's just as disturbing is that on both visits the floor was being swept all around my feet under the drying station. Who wants dirt swept over their clean, freshly painted feet? I tried to step around the dirt pile and the lady sweeping gave me a mean look, I suppose she expected me to step right in it. This place has such potential and I really do want to like it, I hope they can work on some of the negatives to make it a fabulous salon! I let Rachael arch my eyebrows, she waxed off half of one and then got ugly when I confronted. She was very unprofessional. I was appalled by her constant verbal attacks and accusations. It took everything in me to remain calm. The owner refused to refund me stating Rachael worked on commission and refused to give my money back. I was also disappointed in the way she handled the situation and allowed someone who represented her business act so ugly. I showed her the red mark on my face from the wax where the hair was now missing. I've been going to Vivian for the past few months for fills for my acrylics , always happy with her work, but irritated with the constant push to use gel polish ( $10 up-charge) instead of regular polish. Another tech did my fill today, I chose a regular polish only to be told that because it was on the nail polish tower that all the polishes on it are only meant to be used in conjunction w/ a coordinating gel polish. I was told she couldn't/ wouldn't use the polish I picked and insisted I chose another from another nail polish tower. I told her I didn't understand why and was met with eye rolling and a snotty " well ask the manager !" Then obviously talking about me in her language to the tech next to her. The woman seated next to me was also shocked and couldn't understand why she wouldn't just use the polish I chose. The tech had a weirdly hostile attitude. I have been having my nails done since the early 90's and I can attest that Divine Nail Spa in Bristow is about as good as it gets. The salon recently moved within the same shopping center to accommodate the tremendous amount of loyal, satisfied customers. The new facility is absolutely beautiful with all new equipment. While I always make an appointment with the owner/manager Jessica, most walk-in customers can be accommodated right away. Jessica runs a tight ship and is a very talented technician. Reading the other reviews on this site, yes, she answers the phone during my appointment but If I can go 3 weeks with beautiful nails, I don't mind at all. On Friday afternoons and on the weekends when the salon is the busiest, the desk is staffed with an assistant to answer the phone, take appointments, and accept payments. Jessica has a rigorous hiring process and all of the technicians are very skilled. Jessica will bend over backwards to accommodate patrons of the salon and works very hard to make things right if a customer is not happy. You will not see technicians sleeping or watching movies as I have observed at other salons in the area. Even when they don't have a customer, they are tidying up or cleaning. This is, by far, the CLEANEST salon I have ever visited over the past 20+ years. I just wish more of the loyal customers of Divine Nail Spa would come on Yelp and speak of their positive experiences. I find it very sad that social media enables disgruntled customers to speak negatively on a public forum about a business or the employees that work there without trying to work together as adults for a fair resolution. In everything in life, there are always two sides to every story. If you are looking for an Elizabeth Arden experience, go to the Red Door Salon and pay three times as much but if you are looking for a great, clean, efficient, reasonably-priced salon neighborhood salon, I encourage you to try Divine in Bristow. read more

I found it extremely interesting and disturbing that both times I visited the salon the nail techs wore rubber gloves while doing my nails. I thought this was weird the first time but shrugged it off. It wasn't until the 2nd time when my daughter and I were the only African American customers in the shop and the only ones where the techs wore gloves. Now perhaps this wasn't intentional but I couldn't help but notice that all the other customers, all of which were Caucasian, were not subjected to rubber gloves (even when applying lotion). Now another African American customer did come in for a quick repair and the tech did not use gloves but it was clear she was a regular and pretty well known. So perhaps it's all in my head and no ill will was intended but I can say it was very uncomfortable and I will not be returning to Divine Nail. read more

Just horrible!! The water for soaking was cold and when I asked for it to be warmer, the second try was basically the same temperature. Then she nicked me and drew blood while trimming my cuticles. Then she cut my nails really short which wasn't an issue except being short seemed to cause her to paint my nails and skin. Didn't realize how bad they looked until I got outside. I went and got a full set 3 Fridays ago. My nail tech rushed through and finished a little after they closed. I was rushed out and realized that my nails where all different shapes when I got home. I was able to go back on Monday and they agreed to fix them. I asked fir a different tech however they insisted the same person would fix them. After an hour of her trying. It was good enough. Still oddly shaped. I just wanted oval. Beautiful establishment. Sad because it's such Unprofessional service !! I sent my daughter with her dad to get her nails done here for her birthday.. I instructed her to get gel polish on her regular nails. The tech told her that "her nails were too short for gel polish, she needs to add tips". Since when can a natural nail be too long or short for a certain type of polish??? Mind you I've gotten services done here before and I'm already aware of how they are always trying to up sell and add on things you didn't ask for. I quickly learned to be firm in my NO. My daughter and her dad unknowingly weren't as assertive. Not only did she add tips on an 11 year old she did the most expensive method S&S. When I went in today to have them removed i asked questions and got a lot of confused looks and I don't knows. I knew the name on the receipt and approached the tech who did my daughters manicure and she LIED to my face. Said she never said her nails were too short. Her dad was in the car so I asked him to go in and confirm when he went in and asked for a manager was told she isn't there and will be out of time for two weeks. Bottom line... I get part of the job description is to sell but it is morally WRONG to take advantage of a child and a male who knows nothing about nails just to get more money out of a paying customer. 55 dollars for my 11 year olds supposed to be gel manicure is outrageous I pay 32 for my acrylic fill. Whole experience was so unprofessional it's almost like stealing from those who feed you. I will be following up with management but I also will not be returning. I wish I could give this place no stars at all. My husband and I will not ever come to this place again. Seemed to be very discriminating (and by discriminating I mean Racist) nail salon I have ever in my life visited. My husband and I came into this establishment this past Tuesday. Not that it should matter but just to give a disclaimer my husband and I are an interracial couple, I am brown skin and my husband is white. We have been looking for a nail place since we relocated to this area. Came to the salon in the evening (around 5oclock) was not busy at all maybe 2 customers being serviced at the time of our arrival. Technician asked what we were getting done. I explained I'm getting a mani/pedi and husband a pedi. She advised me to pick out nail color. I ensured I explained I wanted the regular/basic pedicure and my husband the spa pedicure. The technician explained that my husband's pedicure would take a little longer. Ok. That's fine. We sit in the pedicure chairs my husband gets service right away. Meanwhile I am waiting and waiting and continue to wait an extra (15 mins or more) no one checked on me nothing. Meanwhile 3 technicians frequently went to the back of the salon and passed by they didn't seem busy at all or have any customers that they were servicing at the time. My husband then asked is my wife going to receive service the nail tech then stated ..."she on the way now" when after 15 mins of me sitting here you didn't do anything to follow up, my husband had to ask. Meanwhile 3 other consumers came into the salon and received service right away. So the nail tech (Gabby) finally arrives to do my pedicure. There was no compassion at all (sorry for your wait...nothing). By the way my husband noticed the technician's co-worker came to speak to (Gabby) and he noticed she gave me a disgusted look as if doing my nails is a bad thing. After she finished my pedicure I was so disappointed by the experience that I advised the technician that I will not proceed to get my manicure done at that point because of waiting so long to receive service my husband and I needed to pick our daughter up from daycare. At this point my husband is still getting his pedicure done. So I go pay for the services and leave to go get gas put in our car while my husband finishes up. My husband explained to me once I left to get gas while waiting for him to finish that the nail technician asked ...Do I have more kids? (Im not sure if she was assuming that I fit a statistic, of having multiple children because I was brown skin, but why not ask me before I left), my husband explained we have only have a daughter together. She also asked if my husband and I were married and he explained that we were. The whole time my husband and I were there neither of the nail technicians really spoke to us about much of anything outside of the normal do you like your nail color..the two technicians spoke amongst themselves in their language. So it just seems odd that conversation flowed after I left to get gas while waiting for my husband to finish up. My husband and I did return to ask to speak with the owner who was not there at the time. We explained the experience and level of service received and the response we got will never replace how it made me feel. At the end of it all it's very disappointing as we thought this appeared to be a decent salon. For what this experience is worth to anyone who reads this review, I would beware. I just know for sure that my husband and I will not be returning patrons. That was our first and last visit to that place. We recommend VY Nails in Fairfax VA, my husband and I been going there many times and they always appreciated our business and treated BOTH of us with respect. A friend and I went to your Divine Nail and Spa on Thursday for a pedicure. We were told it would be about a 20 minute wait. An hour later we were still waiting and could wait no longer as we had other obligations that day, therefore we left. Against my better judgement (after being treated so rudely Thursday) my friend and I returned on Friday. The pedicure area looked clean and nice, the chairs were comfortable, and I was ready to relax. And this is where the misery (yes misery) began. Kathy Tran spoke little English to me and I had to repeatedly ask her to warm my water as it was very cold. She then clipped my nails...no filing afterwards for shaping, no buffing. And they were crooked afterwards! I then noticed she pulled the cuticle cutters from a basket of many and hoped they had been sanitized, however at this point I am sure they had not been. She was so rough clipping my cuticles, I had to pull my foot back several times because she was clipping live skin. I have NEVER experienced this from a "professional" technician. She worked on my cuticles hurriedly and roughly. At this point my visions of a relaxing pedicure were now a fleeting thought. I just wanted to get it over with. On to the green scrubber. Fast and furious was her pace. There was no gentleness just pure roughness. It was literally painful as she worked on my feet. Not wanting to be rude and wanting to just get out of there as soon as possible, against my better judgement again, I did not stop her and ask for another technician as I just wanted it over! Several times I had to pull back my leg because she was hitting my calves because she was working so fast and furiously. The most relaxing part of most pedicures is the lotion message but of course Kathy Tran again was so rough I almost requested she stop and just paint. Yes with white legs from lotion I wish I had told her to stop. I was grateful when she finally finished knowing the paint was the last step which again she worked quickly on. I looked down and when I saw my toes I would compare the shaping and painting job to that of my 10 year old daughter. I was horrified when I realized I received the service of a 10 year old and would have to pay $28!!!! Needless to say a tip would not be paid as I received no good service. Tips are not mandatory, they are rewarded based on performance and Kathy was definitely lacking in all areas. After I got in the car I began looking at the job she had done....I've never left a "Professional" salon and couldn't even tell I had a real pedicure! My feet still had callouses and we're cracked and hard! And on top of that my polish was atrocious. What made it worse was my lower calf had been hurting and when I checked out why, there was a burn mark. She had hit my calf so hard she left a mark HOURS later. I have posted my experience to both. By the way if I had read the Yelp comments before my pedicure I would have never went to this establishment as the ratings and reviews were similar to my experience. I sent a letter about my experience and many pictures of my feet and toes to the email address on their website. I said "If you would like to right your wrong a refund would be a good solution as I must get another pedicure to actually look like I got one! Wow... Just wow... Went in here one day for a mani/pedi on a day when I didn't actually have my children with me. I was excited for some alone pampering. Went in told them what I wanted went to pick a color and while I was perusing the selection the technician came over and said "I've been waiting for you are you almost done?" Really? Sorry I'm taking so long. Get in the chair and she was making small talk found out my parents were holding a house. Started asking how much it was, how much this cost and that cost. It was really uncomfortable. Went to do my manicure. While I was there she never spoke to me. She kept speaking in a foreign language with her coworkers. They were laughing and having a great time. The lady next to me asked what they were laughing about and she actually said "oh just some jokes you wouldn't understand." Seriously then don't talk about it in front of us!!!! She dropped her cuticle scissors and didn't clean them just kept cutting my cuticles. Gross! She actually cut the skin at one point drawing blood. This place used to be amazing... So let me start off by saying I have literally been going to this place for 2 years or longer. They have always been wonderful and quick and able to do their best. Today, I had the worst experience as a customer I have ever had. I work in retail so trust me, I know horrible customer service to start. So understandably it was very busy in the salon because of the holiday, but I was constantly moved from table to table just to get a gel mani. I have a musical this upcoming week so this is very important for me to have this done. Once I was changed to one lady, it was very obvious she wasn't having a good day. She wrapped my fingers in foil and told me to pick a color. And because I need to have a specific one for the show, I was taking my time trying to pick the best color. Five minutes later she comes over and says "are you done yet?" And I apologized and said not yet, and she proceeded to angrily turn off her light at her working station and put everything away and walk to the back. Once I picked a color, I sat down and she comes over and picks up the bottle and yells at me telling me "You picked the wrong one! Where did you get this?? You picked the wrong one!" I didn't know what to say and apologized as she frantically starts looking for the gel version of the color. Then everyone started watching so I told her to forget about it and she can just leave my nails bare. She sat down and was pulling at my hands taking the previous color off. So I ended up telling the gentleman at the front that I have been a loyal customer for over 2 years and I've never had anything like that happen. To which he apologized and said they have had problems with her like that. Why is she still there then?? So he let me have it for free. I still gave her a small $4 tip. She was not wearing a name tag so I can't say who it was, but I will be taking my money elsewhere. read more

We had our services with an additional option of me having gel polish on toes and hands. So gel is $10 extra: okay, so I go to pay and flipped out at a $209.00 Bill!!! She could see that the card had $75 value, and had never been used but refused to honor it at all. I asked to partial credit, and that was refused as well. Man oh man. This is a review that is long overdue. The customer service at this place is INSANELY HORRIBLE. HOW ARE THEY STILL OPEN? The owner is a hot mess and rude. I watched as one of the nail tech, the owner, and a young man working there berated a teenage girl over a miscommunication on her nails. They ganged up on her, yelled at her and then when the girl called her mom and had her mom speak to the owner, the owner proceeded to tell the mother how her daughter was disrespectful. In the end, they actually forced the girl to soak her nails off (yes the nails that had just been done) so she couldn't walk away with nails half done for free!!!! HOW BOGUS IS THAT? The young lady was very respectful and remained pretty quiet most of the time. This is the most ghetto, raunchiest "nail salon" i have ever seen in my life. They have ZERO customer service skills. My gel fill messed up after 4 days!! I returned back to get it fixed. Owners Solution: She fixed it and charged me for it. Reason provided by owner: when you have to get a nail fixed and the original nail tech doesn't redo it, you have to pay for it to be redone? WHAT? are there individual businesses being conducted here or just one? This place is a hot mess and I would truly like to see it completely closed down.
