Highly, highly recommend this place. As soon as you walk in, your hit with a beautiful aroma and a sense of relaxation. The staff is amazing and they make you feel like a VIP. As you get escorted to your locker and changing room, you have a cute locker with your name hanging on the door, with a beautiful oversized white luxury robe and slippers. You have the option have showering before if you like, as your given time and pressure to rush for your massage. Once you're ready, you're then escorted to a waiting area where they serve you some goodies and a drink ( tea, cucumber water, or wine). The waiting area is so beautiful and relaxing. Your masseuse then comes to collect you and the rest is amazing. You leave Woodhouse a new person. I have been there many times and I highly recommend it. read more

A first class experience at Woodhouse. My wife and I visited yesterday for relaxing back, neck and shoulder massages. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered, and staff members soon escorted us back to our respective locker rooms where the most plush and comfortable robes were waiting for us. After we changed, we were taken to a small lounge with comfortable chaises for each of us. We were offered champagne or another drink, as well as hot or cold neck wraps. The air was filled with a gentle scent and there was nice music playing softly. Next was a trip to the massage room where we indulged in massages that not only focused on our necks, backs and shoulders, but arms, faces and heads as well. Very relaxing. When the massages were over (far too soon!), we were escorted back to the original lounge where we could recover for as long as we wished. All in all, a wonderful experience. When I called to have the scalp massage included I was told it wasn't valid with my deep tissue massage because I was using certain oils with my massage. Seriously. Also this particular spa didn't know what code was being used for the special and THEY initiated it. I received absolutely no satisfaction with the gal on the phone - whom I'm assuming was the manager because the girl that answered phone had no idea what I was talking about. I booked a couples massage. They assured me it'd be in the same room. I got there and it'd be in a different room. The lady was very rude. They charged me still. I was super disappointed. The response from the owner shows the same lack of service. I was told it would be in the same duet room so we'd have a couples massage. It was clear when I was there a regular customer was put in that room instead of us. The manager was rude and abrasive. She said she apologized for the "lack of communication" then said she wasn't the one that didn't communicate with me. Rather than reach out to me, the owner posts the comment. I had a very disappointing experience at Woodhouse Spa in Gainesville. Before my appointment, I presented a Woodhouse Spa gift certificate valued at $270 and clearly told the staff that I only wanted the services included in the certificate and did not authorize any additional services or charges beyond that amount. The staff confirmed that the certificate was valid, so I proceeded with the services covered by the certificate. After the services were completed, I was told everything was fine and I left. Later I discovered that my credit card had been charged $498. When I contacted the spa to ask why the gift certificate had not been applied, I was told that the certificate had already been used at another location. I have never used this gift certificate before and never authorized anyone else to use it. I relied on the spa's confirmation that the certificate was valid before proceeding with the services. Being told afterward that it had already been used elsewhere and then being charged the full amount was extremely frustrating and disappointing. For a spa that presents itself as a premium experience, I expected much better communication, transparency, and customer service. read more

I had such an amazing experience at the Woodhouse Spa in Gainesville, VA. My Master Esthetician, Rachael, was wonderful and made me feel so comfortable and relaxed from start to finish. I had the Dermaplane Facial and left with my skin feeling smooth, hydrated, and refreshed. They also offer a complimentary glass of champagne and have a beautiful relaxation room to enjoy before your service, which made the experience feel even more luxurious. I had a very nice and relaxing Swedish massage with Jason--he was extremely professional, and I truly appreciated his work. However, what I did not appreciate during this visit was the experience in the lounge area. When I was escorted in, the staff member insisted that I sit in a specific chair due to "assigned seating." The room was completely empty at the time, and I had hoped to sit in the corner where there was better lighting to read my book and put my feet up. Despite the room being empty, my request could not be accommodated, which I found unreasonable. Before my appointment, I sat in the corner for a few minutes, but after my massage I noticed my name had been moved again. My therapist kindly mentioned I could sit back where I had been, but then the same staff member came over and told me I had to move because "the assigned guest" was arriving--even though the lounge was still empty. As a paying customer, this policy left me feeling both unsatisfied and disrespected. We won't return. Which is sad because I'd always wanted to visit this spa. I took my son for a holiday gift. We each had massages, facials, pedicures and a visit to the salt room booked. All was absolutely fantastic for the most part. At first. Our facials and massages were top notch. We felt so relaxed and pampered. But then we both were scheduled for pedicures at the same time, with the same person. That service was supposed to be from 12:00-1:00, with the salt room visit being at 1:00. We were to be finished with all of our treatments by 2:00. This poor woman had to do both of our pedicures in an hour. And of course, they were subpar. When I left, you could see the streaks in my nail polish and my cuticles looked horrible. Both pedicures were done by 1:45. We then had to cut our visit short because we had other obligations. No one at the desk apologized or addressed the fact that we canceled a service due to their poor planning. They just added up the bill and took our money. So strange. What started out as an amazingly relaxing day ended with a really bad taste in our mouths. And what's funny is that I received an email asking for a review of our visit, and when I gave that review THEY NEVER RESPONDED. read more

Had a facial at Woodhouse Spa for the first time today. The relaxation room was nice, they offered me champagne and a warm neck wrap although no one ever came with the warm neck wrap. I was called back for my facial and I felt like my esthetician spent the majority of the time taking off my mascara (sorry, I was running errands and had makeup on!). The facial seemed rushed and rough. She scrubbed the mask off so hard and didn't seem like there was a method to the madness. I had a great first experience with a massage with Vanessa. There was a robe and slippers already in my locker, in my size, with a neatly written chalkboard hanging from it so I knew which one was mine. I enjoyed a glass of champagne while decompressing in the waiting area. The massage was wonderful including aromatherapy but I'd specifically requested for suggestions for my next massage since my regular for many years just moved and she just did what she needed to do so I didn't have the language to describe what I wanted. Now I do thanks to Vanessa's noting and even demonstrating some of the different techniques. I'm much more educated. I was pleased enough to schedule my next one before leaving! Do not patronize Woodhouse Day Spa in Gainesville, if you have allergies or asthma, or if you eat one of the snacks they provide which have wasabi as an ingredient. I went today to get my hydro facial. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a blond girl who had an attitude. I told her my nose was stuffed up on one side from allergies and I wanted to buy some eucalyptus essential oil. She stared at me for a long time and then finally in a curt tone says "Oh". I don't deal well with snobby or rude people, so I just started walking to where they used to put the essential oils. She then comes running over. They didn't have any oils so she took me to get changed and put on my robe. Afterwards, she took me to the waiting room and gave me tea and said she hoped that would help. She left. She came back in to settle another client and inquired if I was better, I told her yes. After that because it was 12:30 PM, I decided to have a snack that they offered. It had wasabi in it. The snacks had no ingredients listed on the packaging, no warning of the wasabi, and I started coughing due to the hotness of the wasabi. A while later a man comes into the room and tells me "We won't be able to serve you today because of the coughing and hacking." I responded that I have allergies and asthma and before I could even offer the wasabi snack problem, he repeated himself. I live in the same gated community as the franchise owner so I told the man that I would be contacting her. He said they just got off the phone with the owner. He then offered me a 20% discount on my next visit. So I asked him if I need to come with a doctor's note verifying my asthma and allergies. He merely looked confused and didn't answer. So I left. What spa allows a man to go into a waiting room where women are naked with just a robe on? I guess I should have known better than to go to a spa in a strip mall. I will be going back to a true spa establishment. I doubt they will stay in business if this is how they run their business. I should contact my attorney but I'm going to go to the Salamander now which is where I should have gone in the first place. I am submitting a Better Business Review, Yelp and Google review. Furthermore, they should have had the intellect to ask me for my COVID Vaccination card, which has the 4th vaccination from this month. Ok so I want to start by making sure it's clear that the staff were excellent. The front desk woman was really sweet and explained everything and my masseuse was excellent. Jason did a great job. I just don't think this place is worth the money. I originally booked a deep tissue massage and a pedicure. I had to reschedule and I ended up dropping my pedicure because I just didn't have time. Honestly I don't need a pedicure from a fancy spa but I'm on accutane right now so massages and pedicures are really all I can do. I received a call about four days before my appointment to confirm, and this was kind of weird. The girl on the phone told me that if I cancelled at that point, I would be charged 50% of the service and within 24 hours, 100% of the service. I confirmed but at the end of the call I asked her to explain the cancellation policy again and she said that since I had already booked, if I cancelled I would be charged 50%. That's kind of weird right? If I cancel 4 days out? Doesn't necessarily make my want to book there again. Upon entering the spa, I was really surprised. I wouldn't say it was zen at all; it was more like a cheesy gift shop you would see in a vacation town. It's a beautiful building but there was spa chatchki crap EVERYWHERE; bath bombs, scent packets, aromatherapy heading pads, all for sale. I was really surprised. Not super high end. Any the VERY nice girl checked me in and led me to the locker room. She explained the things and left me to get into a very comfy robe. Then she led me To the relaxation room where I sat in a super comfy chair. She asked if I wanted anything to drink and I waited for my massage. My masseuse came to get me and he gave me a good massage. It was definitely intense but I needed it. I am a little bummed that he shorted me about 10 minutes. We started at 3:15 and ended at 3:55; it was supposed to be a 50 minute massage but I can't imagine that a $150 treatment would do hands on work for only 40 minutes; that's like some massage envy stuff (don't get me wrong; I am a massage envy member and I looooooove it). This was the funniest park. After your treatment, you can go back into the relaxation room and guess what they offer you...fruit snacks. Welch's fruit snacks. What???? My children's daycare gives them fruit snacks on Friday because it's fruit snack Friday. When I saw that I just about died. You are supposed to be at a nice day spa and they are giving you packets of fruit snacks? It was just so funny. So it was perfectly fine but I'm glad I used gift cards instead of paying. The one star is because there is SO much potential here. It's truly a shame that the horrible attitude of the owner, Colleen, truly ruined the experience. I was there for a spa day my husband had booked to give me a break from nursing during a pandemic and momming four kiddos. Honestly, running literal mud on me would have felt like a 5 star experience. I had about $500 worth of services but had a 10% off card, signed by Walt and Colleen after my first visit. I let them know about it when I booked and was told by the kind receptionist that she was entering it into the computer so that I didn't "have to worry about it on the day of". When I went to check out, they couldn't find that, or some credit that my husband had gone in to add to my account. I asked for them to check under both of our names. Colleen stormed out from the back and was immediately agitated and incredibly condescending. She went on to tell me that they "don't do 10% off cards". I explained that I have actually received two of them, on separate occasions, signed by herself and Walt. She denied that this could be the case, but when another employee spoke up, she conceded that they do, but only for military and visits on a birthday. I explained that my husband is military and I had been there on my birthday once. She proceeded to tell me that once people "hear about those discounts" they tend to pretend they have them. At this point I was in tears. I felt humiliated in front of a salon full of people watching this interaction. As far as I know, my store credit is missing in action and I ended up paying hundreds more than expected (despite having put back a significant amount of product because they do not deserve my business). My wife booked a surprise experience for me at the Woodhouse Day Spa in Gainesville as the highlight of a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, unexpected (and, from my understanding, unpreventable) staffing issues at the last minute meant we had to cancel my service. Collen from Woodhouse quickly and graciously communicated with both my wife and me, and we were able to reschedule my experience about 10 days later than originally planned. I arrived at the Spa and was warmly greeted. The staff was friendly, anticipating my arrival, and ready to provide a special time for me. I was given a quick tour and shown where I could change for my service. Personalized touches in the locker room as well as in a quiet room prior to being taken back for my service were appreciated (including name plates, chocolates, champagne, and a little gift from the Spa for my birthday). I felt pampered from the very beginning. I enjoyed an 80-minute Gentleman's Therapeutic Stone Massage with Jason, and it was incredible. Jason is very skilled, and he communicated well with me about expectations, preparation, and the experience throughout the session. The hot stones as part of the massage were new to me, and now I understand why people rave about it. Special attention was given to accommodate an old spinal injury, and the inclusion of a foot massage, aromatherapy, and more made the entire session extra special. The staff surprised me at checkout by going above and beyond to resolve any concerns we might have had from the last-minute cancellation on my birthday. Truly, it was more than I would have ever asked for, and I'm impressed by the Spa's incredible professionalism all along the way. All-in-all, my first impression and experience at Woodhouse Spa has left me highly recommending it to others. This is a great business and asset in our community, and I look forward to going back again and again. UPDATE: Well... I may have spoken too soon. Apparently, while I was posting this glowing review, and while I exchanged texts of appreciation with the owner, someone at the Spa contacted my wife to indicate that they made a mistake when I was checking out. We had NOT expected the offer in the first place, but once it was given it became kind of... awkward... to call and renege. "Um, can we have our gift back?" So, in the end, I still had a great experience, but there was no real effort to make up for the earlier disappointment. I recently hosted a wonderful spa day for a group of close friends at the Woodhouse Day Spa Gainesville. With the help of Colleen, I coordinated spa services for 7 people along with a lovely catered lunch. Colleen and her staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent experience. The surroundings are elegant and relaxing; the spa services were top-notch. We loved the personal touches included as well as the attentive, friendly staff. We were at the spa for several hours and were made to feel completely welcomed. The overall experience really exceeded our expectations! I had an 80 minute hot stone massage; others in the group had massage services and facials. We were all very pleased with the spa services as well as the overall experience in the spa. I am so happy we chose the Woodhouse Day Spa for our "girls' day". I look forward to returning soon! read more

Not sure what is happening at this place. Word on the street (aka book club) is that the owners do not treat the staff well so they have a high turnover. This used to be my favorite place for a "me day" or to take friends for special occasions, but it has gotten worse each time and I am embarrassed to take anyone there. I recently took my daughter for her 25 birthday. She does not have exceptionally high standards and said it was "gross." The person that did her facial, was not pleasant and was very sloppy. I had a massage that was---actually gross. The pedicures were nothing special and kind of weird. We went to a nail salon the next day to get our toes fixed. This is a beautiful facility in a great location. I hope they can turn things around , but until then --save your $$. It's not worth even half of what they charge. read more

Walking in the lobby, I was acknowledged and greeted while trying not to look at all the beautiful products well showcased! I actually had two items I wanted and did purchase one. As I continued to look around, the host greeted me with a warm welcome and toured me around. I felt even more special as we approached the lockers and I saw my name posted on a board attached to my robe! I've never had that personalized touch at any spa I've been to and I've been to a lot. I love Day spas what can I say! As I changed and waited in the retreat area, I was offered a mimosa which of course I kindly said, yes! Each guest received a complimentary chocolate covered strawberry with our name again on name plates next to our seats. Details like this don't go unnoticed to me. I enjoyed my mimosa and chocolate covered strawberry as I conversed with a lovely lady waiting for her masseur with me. I was greeted by my masseur who escorted me for my massage which by the way was amazing! I was relaxed, felt comfortable and didn't want it to end. The day spa itself is clean, calming, and just takes you to a peaceful state which is what I needed. I would highly recommend this day spa to others and I'm definitely coming back! Went for a deep tissue and received a poor Swedish at best. I have heard good things about this establishment and maybe got a one off masseuse. At times she seem lost and didn't know what to do. The technique, and pressure were both horrible. I told her I had a trouble spot in my back. She literally spent the entire time on my back, which is OK. I asked for her to do that, but even after all of that not one knott out. She would start doing some thing and it literally felt like nothing was happening and I was thinking what are you doing? I usually go to Champaka in Haymarket but my wife booked a surprise massage here. I will not be going back. It was an expensive waste of time and I don't feel any better after the massage. I have been seeing Matthew for a deep tissue massage for about a year periodically. My first visit was right before my wedding and I was so impressed by the way I was asked for my robe and sandal size prior to arriving. I was further impressed by the pre-service offerings of snacks, a choice of champagne, tea, water, or infused water, and a warm neck wrap. The whole experience is calming and the perfect way to spoil yourself. I have gone back and forth about writing this review only because I love that I am typically able to book with Matthew easily and I selfishly don't want his schedule to fill up so that I have to compete for his time, but since it's the holiday season and I'm feeling generous, I will let you in on the best kept secret! Matthew is fantastic for a deep tissue massage. He always asks for problem areas or issued and truly tailors the service to those issues or problems. He reviews the notes before every visit (or has an incredible memory, haha) and makes me feel like I'm in the best hands (because I am!). I have chronic back pain due to multiple surgeries and hardware and I ALWAYS leave feeling so much better than when I came. I booked the appointment a month ahead of time. On the day of appointment, Woodhouse Spa said that there's no appointment for me, because it was booked for 10PM. This spa does not open at night, of course there is no PM appointment. read more

Thank you for my wonderful birthday experience. I had a facial, body wrap and massage. I enjoyed each service and all employees are so nice and professional. The spa is lovely, clean and inviting. The lounge area is stocked with snacks and refreshing water. I have never received a personal thank you note from any spa before. That was unexpected and very nice touch. Thank you Colleen and Walt for bringing such an inviting, beautiful spa to the area. I can't think of any other way I would have wanted to spend my birthday! read more
